* BigBad: In a manner ''very'' unlike the series, he is the main antagonist not for being a controlling strategic threat, but for being an unrepentant sexual assaliant.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: As horrible as his behavior is, he does genuinely seem to love his son.

* NiceHat: She has a nice, little bucket hat that pops up from time to time.

* {{Expy}}: Has a not-insignificant resemblance to a young [[Characters/SurvivorWorldsApart Joe Anglim]]. Though, his strategy of wanting to be liked by everyone while also being the surfer dude archetype gives him more than a passing resemblance to [[Characters/SurvivorNicaragua Fabio]].

* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: She is one towards [[FanNickname gamebots]] (aka players whose entire focus is on winning the game and maximizing their success at winning the game at the expense of everything else; forgetting that this is meant to be a social game). She made unnecessary "big moves" (such as keeping Karishima to vote out Chelsea in Episode 4 which [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard came back to bite her in the butt when she was voted out]]), and came across a huge {{Jerkass}} come the merge as she ended up {{Gaslighting}} on the show to advance her strategic game, and acts like a bully towards Karishma when trying to get her to vote-out Tommy.

* NotSoDifferent: From Missy. Like Missy, she was planning on using Dan's inappropriate behavior in an attempt to trick Missy into thinking everyone was voting Dan out. The difference is that Kellee was genuinely forcing herself to continue working with Dan, and only went along with the attempt to vote him out because Jamal and Janet convinced her everyone was on board. And Kellee did not exaggerate, nor did she tell other girls, to exaggerate their own experiences with him and weaponize his behavior.

* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: Missy wanted to keep Karishma as an ally mostly so the latter could do whatever she wanted. That proved to be her undoing when Karishma stood up against her, and she and Elanie blindsided her.

* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Even more so than Richard Hatch who went to jail for trying to evade taxes, Dan Spilo embodies this trope in a way that extends beyond him as a television character. Dan was ejected for sexually harassing women on the show and off-camera.

* KnightOfCerebus: Beyond the occasional confessional, Dan didn't receive a lot of content prior to the merge. When the spotlight started shining on him, the season took a noticeably darker turn.

* InnocentlyInsensitive: At the beginning, it was rather clear that Dan intended no malice, but he came across like a slimy car salesman to some on the tribe. But then it ceased being innocent when he was asked to stop and didn't.

** After Kellee's elimination, he finds use to round out their numbers but Janet loathes him while Missy and Elizabeth don't respect him.
