* BadassAdorable: Despite being as small and cute-looking as Negi, Zect was on par with everyone else in Ala Rubra and Nagi apparently learned from him.

With her leadership, the Ostian population was successfully evacuated with a miraculously low percentage of casualties. That still wasn't enough to bring Arika any consolation for her sacrifice.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: During the collapse of Ostia, Arika gave absolute orders to her forces to save every last civilian and evacuate them to safety. She went as far as to abandon her fleet to protect the people of the slums that were having trouble evacuating.

* DamselInDistress: The day she was going to be executed, Nagi jumped into a canyon full of magic monsters to get Arika out of it because he believed getting Arika as his "reward" made it WorthIt.
* DeathFakedForYou: Nagi saved her from the Megalomesembrian Senate, but in a way that made it look like the execution succeeded so the public would think the infamous Queen of Calamity was dead and Arika could be free to run away with Nagi.
* DefrostingIceQueen: During her first appearance in flashbacks, we see that she was very standoffish and seemingly emotionless when she allied herself with Ala Rubra. After the war, she could show her softer side to Nagi since fighting alongside him made her fall in love with him.
* DemotedToSatelliteLoveInterest: In the first part of the Ala Rubra saga, Arika is a very influential authority figure and Ala Rubra's most valuable ally in the war, to the point she was the one who gathered enough allies to contain Asuna's AntiMagic that would have erased the Magic World. In the second part, Arika loses her kingdom and is sentenced to death by the Megalomesembria senate, reducing her to a DamselInDistress so Nagi can pull off a heroic rescue and ask her to marry him. The story never bothers to address what became of her after that point and there's not even a confirmation of whether she died after the birth of her son Negi.

* FaceDeathWithDignity: On the day of her execution, Arika solemnly [[WalkThePlank walked the plank]] and quietly accepted her death as she jumped into a canyon full of hungry monsters. However, Nagi wasn't going to accept it and managed to rescue her.
* FallenPrincess: She's the princess of the Magic World's oldest royal family, but to save her world, she makes the sacrifice that causes her kingdom to be destroyed. A government conspiracy turns her into a scapegoat, resulting in her being held prisoner for two years and nearly executed. Nagi saves her, but can't restore her reputation.
* FireForgedFriends: She and Nagi didn't seem to like each other at all until she forced him to [[HumanPackMule carry her shopping bags]] during her outing at town where they were attacked by assassins. Arika refused to sit back and helped Nagi destroy an enemy headquarters. After that, they were on friendlier terms enough to fall in love eventually, even though [[BelligerentSexualTension they never stopped annoying each other]].

* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: A beautiful, prestigious and benevolent princess with golden hair.
* HandBlast: When she was especially angry at Nagi, she would fire magic beams from her hands to smack him around for a bit. Since she was using her royal magic, she managed to actually hurt him.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Arika was the one who saved the Magic World from being erased by Cosmo Entelecheia's ritual, but she had to doom her FloatingContinent to collapse in exchange. Afterwards, Arika was arrested by the Megalomesembria senate for the destruction of Ostia, the murder of her father and several charges that were false. The senate basically placed the blame for the whole war on Arika and made her into an easy target for the victims of the war and the destruction of Ostia to direct their hatred. People started calling her "Queen of Calamity" and even though a good amount of her subjects still thought highly of her, no one in the public took her side.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Arika let her kingdom fall from the sky to save the Magic World from being erased by Asuna's AntiMagic. Despite her heroic intentions and succeeding to evacuate the civilians with very little casualties, Arika still hated herself for making such a big sacrifice and leaving her subjects homeless. By the time of her execution, Arika was fully convinced that she could only do any good by dying and demanded Nagi to abandon her to her fate. Nagi headbutted her to stop her self-deprecating rant and talked her into accepting to marry him so he could carry her guilt with her.

* HimeCut: Her hairstyle consisting of blunt bangs, hip-length sidelocks, and knee-length straight hair illustrated her status as a princess/queen perfectly.
* IUhYouToo: After Nagi pulled an awesomely romantic rescue to stop her execution and confessed his love for her, Arika could only tell him "I do not dislike you". After some prodding, she did admit she couldn't stop thinking about him in the two years she spent in imprisonment. This is also justified because her cold upbringing made Arika very bad at expressing her personal feelings.

* InVinoVeritas: A variation in Ala Rubra Drama CD. When she ate nabe made with water of truth, the cold Arika's personality does a 180 as she becomes cheerful and honest about how much she cherishes Ala Rubra, calling them her greatest treasure.
* InformedKindness: The Ostian people who personally knew her like Tosaka describe Arika as a kind person, even comparing her to an angel. While the Ala Rubra flashbacks do show she had heroic intentions to save the Magic World, her interactions with other characters (mainly Nagi) depict her as cold, guarded, and violent because of her upbringing at a palace where she was surrounded by corruption. At best, she behaves like a {{Tsundere}} for Nagi alone. The only time we really see her being polite and gentle is in the illusion produced by Negi's LotusEaterMachine, but there's nothing that can confirm the real Arika would have acted that way.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Arika didn't believe she had the right to accept Nagi's love due to her being (former) royalty ''and'' a war criminal. Luckily, when she tried to reject Nagi's LoveConfession for those reasons, he headbutted her to stop her self-deprecating rant and told her that with Ala Rubra faking her death, she was free to live with him as a normal person. This was enough for Arika to clear her doubts and agree to marry Nagi.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She was quite a bit rude and unfriendly to the members of Ala Rubra, especially Nagi. However, this was caused by having NoSocialSkills instead of a plain meanness. At her core, Arika was a heroic person who wished to save her world from the war. She also cared for her subjects, their survival being her top priority during the collapse of Ostia.

* MegatonPunch: She sent Nagi flying with a punch when he commented on her breasts growing in the two years they were separated.
* MissingMom: It seems like she disappeared off the face of the earth before her son Negi could remember her. Unlike his father, Negi never knew anything about Arika until he saw the Ala Rubra movies and later got a confirmation from Gödel and Rakan that she was his mother. In the end, it's never explained why Arika wasn't present in Negi's life nor confirmed whether she's already dead even if it's very likely.
* ModestRoyalty: She had fairly simple dresses both as a princess and queen.
* MyGreatestFailure: She was wracked with guilt over causing the collapse of her FloatingContinent as the price she had to pay to save the Magic World from Asuna's AntiMagic.

* NervesOfSteel: Arika never lost her cool and kept on a calm mask even in the most dreadful situations, like when Cosmo Entelecheia almost succeeded to erase the Magic World, the collapse of her kingdom in the sky, and her own execution where she was thrown into a canyon full of monsters.

* NoSell: She was apparently immune to the effect of Asuna's AntiMagic as Arika was able to use her magic to protect the people of the slums during the kingdom's collapse despite the magic being nullified in the entire area.
* NoSocialSkills: Because of her sheltered upbringing, Arika was very blunt, emotionally repressed and avoided getting familiar with Ala Rubra. This is {{exaggerated|trope}} in Negi's LotusEaterMachine where Arika has no idea of how to have a casual conversation with ''her own son'' even though she raised him in that world.
* NotAfraidToDie: When she was made jump into a canyon full of man-eating monsters, Arika felt no fear to die as all she hoped was that her execution could make some of the war victims happy; her one regret was that she wanted to see her beloved Nagi again.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: In Chapter 266, the second Ala Rubra flashback starts with Arika hugging Nagi out of nowhere as she sheds a SingleTear and begs him to stay with her for a little longer. Although Nagi tried to joke about it, he knew something ''had'' to be very wrong for a hardass {{Tsundere}} like Arika to act so vulnerable. And soon he learned why; the FloatingContinent of Ostia was about to fall from the sky because of Asuna's sealing so Arika wanted to at least have a moment of peace with Nagi before the catastrophe.

* OverlyLongName: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Her full name is Arika Anarkhia Entheofushia. While not that long, it is appropriate for the princess of an ancient royal family to have at least one middle name.
* {{Patricide}}: Towards the end of the war, Arika assassinated her own father after he was exposed as a Cosmo Entelechia puppet. The Megalomesembria senate deliberately omitted the latter part when they arrested Arika with the murder of her father as one of the charges.

She fell in love with the powerful knight under her service and they got married after he risked his life rescuing her from her execution. However, her mysterious absence from her son's life implies she didn't live HappilyEverAfter.

* RedBaron: She was called "Queen of Calamity" for being the main perpetrator behind the destruction of her own kingdom.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Arika is stoic among her boisterous allies (save for when Nagi is involved), keeper of a SecretLegacy, has NoSocialSkills, and becomes Nagi's LoveInterest by the end of the flashback. Fittingly, she's voiced by Rei's voice actress.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Arika was the princess of a kingdom caught in the crossfire of TheEmpire and TheFederation. Instead of staying comfortable inside a castle, she took an active part in trying and ending the war. It was she, instead of Ala Rubra, who gathered allies needed to cast the spell that stopped Cosmo Entelecheia's magic-erasing ritual from destroying the Magic World, although she had to sacrifice her FloatingContinent for it. In the process of Ostia's collapse, Arika led the evacuation of the civilians and personally went to protect the people of the slums from the falling rocks.
* RoyaltySuperpower: Arika was said to possess the Royal Magic only the members of the Ostian royal bloodline had. It's never specified what it could do, but it made [[WorldsStrongestMan Nagi]] feel a lot of pain, so it must have been a big deal.
