Still a trope about morality.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf my character uses a knife, wears eye-obscuring goggles, and has hair that defies gravity, plus his powers include Mind Control and manipulation of sorts (and my parents were none too crazy about him also), does he count? Oh, his personality is actually pretty damn decent*
According to the dictionary I read: the word Darkness was drawn from not the word for absence of Light but the word for Gloom AKA Despair.
Considering this wouldn't a true Dark Is Not Evil be Despair Is Not Evil instead of Shadow Is Not Evil?
How Truth in Television is this trope? Why does this trope became NRLEP? Is it too controversial because "not so evil" things is just too subjective?
No wrestling examples? In interviews Sting has sited this Trope as part of the point of the Crow Sting reinvention in 96-97.
Not to mention how The Undertaker has managed to be a face most of his Career, and behind the scenes arguably the only face who lives up to this in real life.
- Similar to Pokemon, but slightly less so, are the Virus types in Digimon. Though more villains than not are Virus types, there are many civilian Viruses as well as heroic ones, such as Wormmon/Stingmon. In the beginning of the franchise, it was "Virus = Evil, Data = Neutral, Vaccine = Good". This was slowly changed as the series went on to "Virus = Chaotic, Data = Neutral, Vaccine = Order".** Despite the name (and his status as a Royal Knight later on), Gallantmon is also a Virus type. Guilmon being an example of this made Megidramon's appearance all the more jarring.
- ... Are you absolutely sure Dukemon/Gallantmon is a Virus? I mean, look at the guy! He looks, speaks, and acts as a Lawful Good Knight in Shining Armor! There's nothing chaotic, much less dark, about him.
- Yes. Everyone of Guilmon's forms were Virus-types. Remember Dark Is Not Evil. Magidramon being the exception in that it was so badshit that it's existence threatened to destroy reality.

The same was with the chaotic alignment, with the chaotic unicorns being less light-oriented than Dukemon.
Why is this no real life examples if it's dark is NOT evil?
