Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

openMythology Gag and Official Fan-Submitted Content
Should Official Fan-Submitted Content be counted as Mythology Gag if it's "referencing another work in the same franchise"?
I just assumed that mythology gags only count if the creators put it in as a sort of non-sexual fanservice, so I would like to clarify this.
openSplitting the film "It Takes Two" from the video game "It Takes Two" Videogame
The recently released video game It Takes Two is connected with the film version It Takes Two via the Trivia and YMMV pages. Neither have any relation with each other, so could use a hard split to differentiate their respective Trivia and YMMV pages plus a disambiguation page.
openPages blanked, mod revert needed
devmeikrai has removed all content from The Cats And Dogs Of ANIMO and The Cats And Dogs Of ANIMO and replaced it with just "N/A". No reason was given, and they've page blanked more than once, according to the page histories.
openWe...don't host game guide, right?
Appearantly, someone came to conclusion that since Walkthrough Mode policy is about examples, it should be ok if they made full JFF article instead.
See JustForFun.Morrowind Beginners Guide and JustForFun.Skyrim Beginners Guide
Or these two are some exceptions we made long ago (again)?
openAbout Character Pages Film
I did a reorganization of Characters.Jurassic Park and I currently am trying to figure out if such an endeavor needed approval from other Tropers, It’s such a huge reorganization I thought it needed it.
openPotential edit war Film
Hello.
Not sure if this is the correct form to report a potential Edit War - or if its one to begin with. Still, let's try:
In article for Miracle Mile, Fat Pumpkin Rex made an edit that not only doesn't have much bearing with the plot, but it also reads like a natter. I cut it, with a commentary why it is being cut... and FatPumpkinRex put it back, word-for-word, right after that. I've already send him a note asking about it, but so far dead silence.
What now?
openHow do I announce the launch of a trope?
I'm launching a trope (Lightning Lash) and have about 40 examples and 11 hats, so I'm going to launch it Saturday, is there a button I press for the 24-hour warning, or do I just change the title?
openMLP character pages alphabetization.
From Characters. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, several characters now have their pages, so I want to bring up a question about sorting their tropes.
Older solo MLP character pages are sorted by trope types (abilities, characterization, ex.) as opposed to alphabetized like other character pages. It was decided they should be reorganized alphabetically (by category was making it harder to look for and decide where to place tropes. But the cleanup fizzled out and was undone by a troper unaware of the cleanup.
I'll start the reorganizing by alphabetizing project unless anyone has any objections.
openNeed help with an article I start Literature
Just started this page https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/Iron and am not sure what to do. I know it's below the requirements but it's my first time editing here so I don't know how to add stuff beyond summary and stuff.
Edited by nelsonharringtonopenMoney Dear Boy trope page
Before I put this to TRS, should Money, Dear Boy get a clean-up, as I've added examples that I wasn't sure about (and removed), but in general, how to make it an interesting enough article?
openEither a ban evader or me being paranoid
neuropozyne has been on the wiki since March 7th, which is the day after I reported Johnnyfog's previous sock. Since then, they have edited the Final Fantasy XV page a whopping 49 times. Also, if their edit reasons are any indication, they are surprisingly knowledgeable about the way the site works, despite having joined only recently. May I request an IP check, just to be safe?
openThe Way of Kings disambig Literature
I dropped a line on the discussion page in question, but those tend to get ignored, so here we are.
Literature. The Way Of Kings was created in 2013 for Brandon Sanderson's book, the first in The Stormlight Archive. Two days ago, someone created a page for a new book by Louise Searl, Literature. The Way Of Kings 2021. So far so good. Except this person then moved Sanderson's book to Literature. The Way Of Kings 2010 and made Literature. The Way Of Kings a disambig.
I really, really question if moving the original page is necessary, especially considering the large number of wicks and huge number of inbounds Sanderson's book had. Normally, the older page gets to keep the title sans date, and the newer one gets the date. It seems like a lot of extra work, done by one troper with no discussion. Should this move be reverted?
openHomemade Flamethrower.
Edit:Oh wait sorry found out the reason now. Apologies for wasting time-
Edited by WolfofBladesopenTransgender trope
I was working on a character page where one character is trans and stumbled on Main.Transgender and I was wondering if it's going to remain a trope or is it going to be cut like Bi The Way and if I should still use it. It seems odd to cut one and not the other and UsefulNotes.Transgender does already exist.
openRemoving WMG's
So I read the Progame Note just now for WMG's and I removed two of my own from two different page as I felt they were out of date - they were also made years ago.
I know we aren't supposed to remove them just because they are jossed, but does that also apply if the OP decides to remove them ? If so, I can reinstate them, even though I feel they don't really have a place there.
openWhen is swearing ok on the wiki?
If you're not quoting someone directly, is it still ok to swear? It seems like it, based on what I've seen. I assume some words (i.e racial slurs and the like) are forbidden, though.
openExcessive gushing in YMMV/TheRageaholic ?
I'm specifically thinking about the the examples for Heartwarming Moments and Moment of Awesome, both of which mention the allegations against Michael Jackson, which is a bit of a contentious issue in and of itself.
Edited by Powoga
Not sure if this quite counts as an edit war, but YMMV.Soul's entry for Alternate Aesop Interpretationspecifically... is probably under one. The entry was first added by Thunderforge in January, was deleted in February by ccorb with the reason "More like Warp That Aesop", before being re-added in March by eroock with no edit reason. I'm not sure if this counts as an edit war, since three different accounts are involved, but whatever the case, the fact that it was re-added with no edit reason should be addressed at the very least.
