openDeletions on Classical Mythology pages Literature
Classical Mythology has a long and often contradictory history, but recently I've noticed Drakos25 has been deleting some entries alongside moving things to different pages, without edit reasons (I thought the Maia folder was deleted from the Mortals and Demigods page by mistake and added it back, but on looking at their edit history it turns out they had moved it to the Titans page).

Edited by lalalei2001openNew Problem Troper
I have concerns about a new Troper called Gem Fox, whose only edit so far is on this page.
Looking it over, it seems Gem Fox has decided to change some words on the page to be less problematic, but some are questionable.
- Lazy > unwilling
- stupid > incompetent
- delusions > fantasys
- sociopaths > wickeds
- Savage > ruthless
- idiots > buffoons
- insane > baffling or incomposed
- Unhinged > horrific
- dimwitted > unimaginative
- moronic > hackic
- dumb> obtuse
- deformed > odd
Some of these changes have led to red links. Ethical Slut is now Ethical Sex Worker. Crazy Survivalist is now Wild Survivalist. Sociopathic Hero is now Wickedic Hero. Only Sane Man is now Only Composed Man. With Great Power Comes Great Insanity is now With Great Power Comes Great Confusion. And more.
Probably the most worrisome is the changes from "Germanic" to "Gerhigh-strung". That would usually make me question if this is a plugin at work, but there are some edits on the page that had to be done manually. So the page needs a revert, but Gem Fox also needs a tap on the shoulder. Should a PM be sent?
Edited by iamconstantineopenTroper Onlythrice again
I made a thread on troper Onlythrice bringing to attention that they were making politically-motivated edits. They claimed to have "learned their lesson" and promised to stop doing it. The mods deemed no further action was necessary and the thread was locked.
Now they've made another politically-motivated edit on Totalitarian Gangsterism which was removed by troper bunnyofdoomo, after which they re-added it, bringing it into Edit War territory.
In addition I would like to point out some later edits on UnPerson.Real Life which may indicate that they still have an agenda.
openYMMV indexing not working
YMMV.Red Vs Blue isn't indexing its subpages. Any help?
edit: Testing by adding another page to the list, they are getting indexed, but the index bar isn't showing up at the bottom of the YMMV subpages (it did show for the test page).
Edited by TwiddleropenKnowledge of deleted tropes
I have some ideas for new tropes. The only problem is I don't know if they were originally deleted. Is there any way for me to know whether or not a trope was deleted so that I don't end up recreating it?
openFolder-izing Work Pages
About what length/number of tropes do work pages need to start considering organizing things into folders? There are some guidelines about when to do a hard split into multiple pages, but less guidance on when to start putting them into folders to read through.
openNot sure if example counts Literature
I can't decide if the following example- taken from LightNovel.Spice And Wolf- fits or not.
- Artistic License – Medicine: Justified in universe. When Holo gets sick from fatigue, Lawrence treats her using the "four humors" method, which was prevalent in medieval society.
True, the medical practices aren't accurate to modern standards, but if they're accurate to the time period depicted then can it really count as Artistic License? (I'm probably overthinking this.)
openShould Light Novels derived from Web Serial Novels also get a Literature namespace?
A lot of Japanese light novels got their start as Web Serial Novels. These include stories like Mushoku Tensei and That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.
The description for Web Serial Novel states that they should be listed under the Literature namespace. So does that also go for web novels that also got turned into light novels?
In this case, it'd be a fairly easy addition via adding a redirect, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it.
Edited by reppuzanopenSuaveAugustine Edit Warring Again Live Action TV
A couple days ago, SuaveAugustine was reported for edit warring, and the edit was reverted. Today, they edit warred again by firstly adding some Large Ham tropes to the Brooklyn Nine-Nine main characters page, which I then removed on the basis that only one of the characters, Captain Holt, was the only really hammy one while the rest of the crew were only occasionally hammy.
Before reverting my removal, they went to ATT to presumably ask permission to readd those tropes, but relayed their message as an opinion rather than a request and with no context and elaboration, after which they were directed to a forum, and posted the exact same vague message, which naturally garnered no response since it read as an opinion and not a request. They then decided to jump the gun and just unilaterally readd those tropes anyway, thus instigating another edit war just days after their initial aforementioned one.
On top of edit warring a second time within days, they have consistently shown to write with poor grammar, often leaving out words from sentences (mostly articles such as "the" or "a"), as shown here, here, and here. I sent them a notifier directing them to the Get Help With English Here forum a couple days ago (which they ignored), but this behaviour still persists. I find all of this rather troubling.
Edited by lemarhoffmanopenAdding Video Examples.
Alright, this may sound as a dumb question but, how do I upload video examples?
open Brooklyn Nine Nine Live Action TV
I don't know if it's just me but I feel like the characters do often act very over-the-top since they are in a comedy show and often some of the characters act very extreme.
Edited by SuaveAugustineopenTrope Ready to Launch?
Hi!
I've been working on a trope in the Launch Pad. It looks just about ready to launch, but what do you guys think? Here's the link to examine it: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=9mka60plsl2g31sszwtmwzu4
Edited by SeptimusHeapopenEdit warring Troper
On this page, samfluture deleted entries stating that some characters were Implied Love Interests for others. The Swordsman re-added them and linked to the Discussion thread where this re-addition was discussed.
samfluture just redeleted the entries with an all-caps edit reason that they were invalid. They have posted in the linked discussion thread, but it's hard to say if this was before or after said all-caps deletion.
Now I will say that the Discussion thread didn't seem to really discuss the entry at all. All that was said about it was that Implied Love Interest isn't YMMV, which doesn't say anything to its validity. Still, it's an edit war regardless
Edited by iamconstantineopen Troper jogarz
The other day, jogarz was reported for edit warring, and while that edit was reverted, I checked in on them today and have noticed some not great patterns:
I've sent a few notifiers, but this is troubling, ontop of the edit warring that was (hopefully) nipped in the bud.
openEdit War (yes, another case)
*SIGH*, nobody respects Repair, Don't Respond or Example Indentation anymore...
On Shipping Bed Death, jogarz added a lengthy sub-bullet example to an existing example that not only violated Example Indentation but also Repair, Don't Respond. I reverted the edit and sent them an Issue Helper, but they added back the text without addressing either issue. They claim in the edit reason that they're just "providing more context and relevant information", except they're doing it improperly and now I can't do anything on my own without having to come here first!
So, um... permission to revert, please?
openTrope Launch Pad
I'm having trouble with the trope launch pad. I'm trying to introduce a YKTTW, but the page isn't letting me do so. Why?
Where do we report pages that are missing laconics (Dunno Whats Going On But in this case, made in 2007)?
I only found a Laconic Improvement thread by searching, I don't think that's the right one.
