resolved Questionable JFF page
JustForFun.Star Trek Deep Space Nine is meant to be an analysis of which episodes are plot-relevant and which aren't, however, it also calls some episodes bad, which seems to violate our Complaining About Shows You Don't Like policy. I asked on the negativity cleanup thread, but no one answered.
openSequel or spin-off? Videogame
I noticed that the entry for Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia had been removed from the Surprisingly Improved Sequel page for the reason "It doesn't make sense to call a turn-based gacha game a "Surprisingly improved sequel" to an Arena Fighter, just because they're both called "Dissidia." They're not supposed to be the same kind of game, and as such OO doesn't improve on Dissidia in any way. It has "More content," but it's a completely different kind of content." Fair, and I would put it on More Popular Spin Off, but recent story updates have shown that Opera Omnia is supposed to be a sequel to the 2015 arcade version.
Would it be fair to add it back, based on this? The original entry (below) and removal reason both cite the differences in gameplay, but story-wise, OO does follow the events of 2015 (although to what extent is unclear because it's still ongoing).
- Dissidia Final Fantasy (2015) had very little in the way of content—unlike the original two games, which had a dedicated story mode, the 2015 version had only a small number of cutscenes "purchased" with Memoria earned from fighting battles, like the extra character costumes. This, along with the various gameplay changes, resulted in a somewhat tepid reception. 2017's Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia has been received more warmly thanks to its more traditional and strategy-based battle system, plus a surprisingly interesting plot and good characterization despite being a gachapon mobile game.
openAnti-Climax Boss VG only?
Per cleanup, I removed this from YMMV.My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic S 2 E 26 A Canterlot Wedding Part 2
- Anti-Climax Boss: All it takes is Shining Armour and Cadance tapping their horns together to effortlessly perform a spell that banishes Chrysalis and her subjects.
Besides ignoring all the buildup (including the best fight scene the franchise ever had up till that point) and context that made it climatic despite it being quick and one-sided, cleanup argued "Anti-Climax Boss is only for video games, unless it's in-universe."
I felt since ACB relies on difficulty and player skill, any use outside games is misuse redundant with Anti-Climax which isn't YMMV. But there currently is a lot of non-VG use as complaints. Thoughts?
Anti-Climax is due for a cleanup for use as complaining/YMMV. Should ACI get a separate cleanup?
Thoughts about the YMMV "Unintentionally Anti-climatic" being made to cover non-VG ACI or other unintended Anti-Climax examples?
openIs that okay to make a forum game?
I was thinking about making a forum game called " Spoils a character's karma... badly". it's like any Spoil the blank badly but it's about spoiling character's Laser-Guided Karma or Fate Worse than Death. What do you think and is that okay for me to make a new trend in forum game? Note: It's not "Spoils a character death baldy". It's when an alive person got what they deserved.
Edited by BubblepigopenMultiple characters with the same name Videogame
The game Dice Psycho has six different characters all named "Saiko", with no last name. What would be the best way to refer to each individual character on the page? I was thinking of listing the characters as 1-Saiko, 2-Saiko, etc. based on the number that their route is associated with—would that work, or should I use a different method?
Edited by unexplainedEnemyopen What was that short lived serial killer mystery series from approx . 2014 or so? Live Action TV
This show was supposed to be a miniseries I believe..it was a sort of Twin Peaks style show about a serial killer in a woodsy town...I dont know if it ever was even completed. I remember a scene where a 20 something guy invites a friend into a secret room...inside thwre are news clippings all over the wall.... ..and the friend asks the guy "Um...did you just invite me I to your 'serial killer ' lair?"
I forgot all about this show til today and now its driving me nuts. Any help appreciated !
openSomething is wrong about this page but I dont know what
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/ACornerOfTheUniverse
Is a page allowed to have such a short description?
openUnnecessary Disambiguation?
Just stumbled upon Creator.Scott Adams, which is a disambig page for two creators. Except that neither creator has a page here, so I don't see the point...
The page has just over 30 wicks, but nearly all of them refer to the writer of Dilbert. About half of those seem entirely pointless though, since they're just "Scott Adams's Dilbert", which, like, yeah, who else would Dilbert belong to? He's the one that made it.
Edited by PrimisopenHyperbolic Mess Chamber
I was looking through some cases of Bold Inflation when I stumbled across SerialEscalation.Live Action Films which is filled with unnecessary ALL CAPS, word cruft, over-the-top gushing, and at least one example that I'm pretty sure doesn't qualify (I'm pretty sure Avatar didn't serially escalate from anything). Is this the sort of thing we should do a cleanup for? I'd take a swing at it myself, but I'm not super familiar with a lot of these franchises.
Edited to clarify the page in question, instead of just a vague link.
Edited by AfterwordopenPotentially nonexistent work with page
I did a Google and Youtube search and found zero results for this work's existence. Shall I add it to the Cut List?
Edited by TVGuy2001openCreating Pages
How does one create a page? I've noticed a couple of notable things(e.g. movies, bands) that are hardly even mentioned on here, much less have their own page. I'd like to try it myself, but I don't know how or if I'm even allowed to.
opencut page example
Somebody just gave an example on a TLP page from Anime.Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, which was cut. The example is fine, but should I include it in the TLP? Should I redirect it to another page?
Edited by LermisopenWeird edits? Videogame
Most of Steelheart's edits consist of removing all CamelCase to replace with url links and then switching them back on various pages. It's very odd, and I've PMed them to explain since there's no edit reason, but I'm just putting this query here in case there's no response and to see if others have any opinion.
openCan Intergenerational Friendships be counted as Heterosexual Life Partners?
I'm wondering if Intergenerational Friendships can also be considered Heterosexual Life-Partners if the characters have a bond akin to that of a friendship with a close-in-age peer. It does definitely sound...weird, on the surface, but I wouldn't doubt there aren't any works that center around Intergenerational Friendships between children/teenagers and adults. Also I know that parent-child friendships don't qualify for Intergenerational Friendships and I think family relationships would be exempt from Heterosexual Life-Partners even if their bond is friendship-oriented, but can Intergenerational Friendships overlap with Heterosexual Life-Partners (or Platonic Life-Partners for that matter)?
openDeadman and Lobo need de-self demonstrating
So I was looking through the Comicbook section of SelfDemonstrating.Character Pages and I noticed that Deadman and Lobo are the only pages that don't actually have work pages. They need to be de-self demonstrated. I haven't read the comics myself so i cant do the work myself. What does everyone else think?
openTroper with an agenda
Mr-Husk seems to be troping with an agenda:
- On Accentuate the Negative, they added an entry that seems to deny climate change, and when it was removed they added it back.
- On Glurge, they added an entry that also complains about climate change activism.
- On Watched It for the Representation, they added a line that says that Pandering to the Base is representation "at the expense of everything else", and an entry (now deleted) that complains about High Guardian Spice, saying one of its crew members Does Not Like Men.
- On YMMV.Orson Scott Cards Empire, they added a Harsher in Hindsight entry about left-wingers "destroying" America (which calls a real-life person a hypocrite despite that trope being NRLEP) and a Values Resonance entry which calls BLM an "extremist" organization (also, the book came out less than 20 years ago).
Sorry if this is a Wall of Text.
open What constitutes an edit war?
If Person A adds something, Person B removes it, then Person A adds it again, Person A is making it an edit war. But what if a third person re-adds it? Is that still an edit war?
open Ban/Suspension evader?
Last year, Troper shawnlongtrope was reported and suspended for censoring swears on the wiki. He later came to the Edit Banned/Suspension thread and was released (see here)
Now he's Shawnlongtrope Returns, and his first edit reason is "Added something. Also, I will no longer censor cuss words in articles anymore."
I don't know if Shawnlongtrope was suspended again, or if he's created a secondary account (which iirc is against site rules anyway), but I thought I should bring it up here.
So I launch my first forum game but it didn't get enough attention. So I put my forum signature to link my new game. Is there other ways to promote your forum game then using the signature?
