Got some more trope entries to check for spelling and grammar errors

  • Practically Joker: Cartman also shares cues with the Joker from Harley Quinn (2019) in the he tries to become a better person after finding his Second Love and become a family man, only to go back to his villainous ways with little resistance.

  • It's Personal with the Dragon: For Woods at least. Woods has never met Dragovich nor does he even know he exists, while he has met Kravchenko and personally witnessed Kravchenko’s acts of cruelty, earning his spot as Woods Arch-Enemy with Woods even going as far as placing blame solely on Kravchenko for Alex Mason’s brainwashing.

  • Lancer vs. Dragon: Woods conflict with Kravchenko with the former being The Lancer to The Protagonist, Alex Mason, while the latter being The Dragon to the Big Bad, Dragovich.

  • Face Death with Despair: Given Palpatine’s obsession of obtaining immortality, it’s heavily implied that dying is the one thing Palpatine truly fears as he always reacts with horror whenever he’s about to die. Case in point, Palpatine begs Anakin to save him from being killed by Mace Windu, and dies screaming in two of his deaths, with his death being thrown into the Death Star’s core by his own apprentice and his second being vaporized by Rey.

Thanks

@ Sky High (2005)

  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: She's the cheerleader at a high school ... that is kept secret from the rest of the world and (due to apparently being one-of-kind) probably doesn't have any away games, apparently leaving Penny with nothing to do besides chant greetings at the new students and flounce around like a Cruel Cheerleader. It isn't even clear if she's a school-sanctioned school cheerleader or just a self-appointed one, given how her cheerleading uniform changes color and design throughout the film.

@ Star Wars Legends

  • Rivi-Annu from "To the Vanishing Point" is a fan favorite among the new Jedi from that series due to being a nervous New Meat leader who commits a Heroic Sacrifice for her clones that involves using the Force to stop a falling Star Destroyer from crashing into a battlefield until they have time to get clear.
  • The female Agricultural Corps Jedi in "Graduation Day" is never even named, but is perhaps the best-liked member of her group for her gradual mastery of telekinesis and ability to fight effectively using a farm tool like a lightsaber while working her way up to that point.
  • Few fans of the series are likely to forget the unnamed clone trooper at Outpost 473 from "Waiting" after his The Unfettered efforts to retrieve his stolen armaments in time to stop an approaching Separatist convoy.
  • Dark Jedi Artel Darc's only appearance is in the written but unreleased Clone Wars era novel Escape from Dagu, but the amount of interest that project has drawn and the cover art of Darc dueling Shaak Ti have drawn a good deal of interest.

@ Star Wars: The Living Force

  • The antics of the Stupid Crooks trio of Wungo, Ghor, and the Lobber include things like being bluffed into thinking Jedi can shoot lasers out of their eyes, thinking a Jedi Councilor is a "brain doctor" due to getting counselor and councilor mixed up, and swearing to a pirate captain that they were going to steal a ship so they could give it to her and then getting the name of her gang wrong. Their new boss openly laments how keeping the three of them around is hurting her Villain Cred.
  • The villainous Zilastra is introduced musing about her catchphrase ("You can't have a meeting of the minds if nobody attending has one") and then teasing herself for taking the time to muse about that in the middle of a gunfight.
  • Yarael Poof once coined a pun to keep in mind while meditating: "The Force cannot be forced."
  • The Establishing Character Moments of several Jedi Councilors have moments of levity.
    • Eeth Koth inventories everything that was left behind at a recently closed Jedi outpost and is left gaping at the size of a catering bill incurred the one time the outpost hosted a Hutt.
    • Plo Koon spills some engine fluid all over himself while repairing a starship and sternly warns an observing Saesee Tinn not to dare to laugh at the sight.
    • Yaddle is buried in paperwork about accidental damage caused by various Jedi, such as one Padawan who accidentally impaled his (droid) taxi driver and caused the taxi to crash into a festival while using his lightsaber as a flashlight.
    • Adi Gallia and Yoda have to sit through a boring meeting with the Supreme Chancellor where they discuss requests people asked Valorum to pass on to the Jedi that range from boring to making impractical celebrity endorsements. Adi finds herself concentrating on the color of the wallpaper.
    • Yarael Poof and Ki-Adi-Mundi have a sparring match where Poof turns out to be a Combat Pragmatist who isn't above Force-persuading several assistants and then joking that he didn't need to hypnotize their students due to how popular he is.
    • Mace Windu begins his conversation with Qui-Gon by noting how the other Master nodded off while waiting for him.
    • Even Piell asks a tourism center for information about what areas have fistfights and muses that his last assignment was so pointless that having a celebration where the food itself was the guest of honor would have been nicer.
  • Speaking to the entire Jedi Council is a dizzying experience even for an exalted Master like Qui-Gon. Literally dizzying, because the circular layout of the room makes him have to do a lot of fast turning to answer successive questions from people sitting far apart.
  • Qui-Gon says he has no desire to question the wisdom of the Council, only for Yoda to snark that past meetings have already proven that statement false.
  • A cabbie droid who gives Plo and Saesee a ride admits she is a tour guide by design and has never driven a fare (let alone one over the dangerous bridge they are presently on) before.
  • Ki baffles a vendor by ordering shaved ice without any flavoring, insisting the ice itself is a flavor, exasperated another vendor with the size of an order he makes for an anniversary celebration, and gets propositioned out of nowhere by a Yakoran woman whose husband gets Mistaken for Cheating with a Wookie.
@ Imperial Navy
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: In Star Wars: The Living Force, he laments how inefficient the Republic bureaucracy is and is hopeful for the day where he can serve in a formal Navy with set mission parameters, better funding, and better discipline. He gets all of that with the rise of the Galactic Empire, a totalitarian system which horrifies and disgusts him so much that he tries to assassinate Darth Vader and the Emperor.

  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Ralph, the president of Metro Records, never hesitates to use his power to get what or who he wants. But after being outsmarted by Sakuya in his attempt to take Aine back, Ralph realizes the errors of his ways and eventually changes his behavior.
  • Long Lost Sibling: He and Sakuya are paternal half-brothers. Ralph is basically Sakuya were Sakuya fully American.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Ralph is left stunned by Sakuya's unexpected offer to reinstate him as the CEO of Metro Records and President of Grazer Media's Japan division, on the condition that he releases Aine. Despite his initial reluctance, Ralph eventually concedes, and the experience prompts him to reevaluate his actions and make positive changes.

Trivia.Puyo Puyo Fever:

  • Franchise Killer: While it thankfully didn't kill the Puyo Puyo franchise entirely, the game's poor sales in the West (thanks to a lack of advertising from Sega of America) would kill its presence in the West for 14 years, with subsequent entries — including the game's direct sequel — remaining only in Japan. It wasn't until 2017 that Sega finally started localizing the Puyo Puyo games again, beginning with Puyo Puyo Tetris.

For Characters.Si Ivagunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special:
A duo of clowns dubbed the "Fighting Clown Crew" who assist Lady in her plan to become the "ultimate cosmic being" by claiming the cursed she needs for her ritual.

  • Villainous Harlequin: Both Joker and Krusty are clowns who assist Lady in her evil plans and are shown to be quite comedic and ineffectual as villains during Curse of The Fallen Angel, given that they spend more time relaxing at the beach instead of attempting to claim the cursed before Takane's group and only manage to defeat the Takane's group due to Krusty accidentally feeding them poisoned Krusty Burgers.

@ Star Wars: The Living Force

  • Yaddle is mistaken for a child while happily cruising around on a souped-up speeder.
  • Yaddle is interviewed by a Troig reporter with two very different personalities who has to do a Last-Second Word Swap to replace a bold speech with a commercial break warning at one point.
  • A captive Depa Billaba has enough Face Death with Dignity resolve to mentally snark about delays that are holding up her planned execution.
  • Master Poof is aware of how silly his surname sounds in Basic and unsuccessfully tries to encourage the Councilors to call each other by a First-Name Basis as a result.
  • The Running Gag about Jedi being annoyed by or confused about mentions of the local Boolah kittens (besides Yaddle, who adores them).

@ Fallout (2024)

  • Draco in Leather Pants: Mr. House being revealed as one of the masterminds behind the Great War hasn't stopped many fans from holding out hope and making detailed arguments that he was a Token Good Teammate to the moguls who was against their plan but couldn't stop it, or at least had A Lighter Shade of Black goals and methods.
  • He's Just Hiding: While the New California Republic as a whole is gone, some fans like to think that its more likable soldiers and citizens from New Vegas are still alive, just in hiding.

@ Star Wars: The Living Force

  • Adaptational Comic Relief: With the exceptions of Depa Billaba, Oppo Rancisis, and Mace Windu (whose scenes are mostly serious) and the already eccentric Yoda, the Jedi Councilors get more whimsical or The Comically Serious moments than in their Legends limelight appearances (or most of their prior Canon appearances, for that matter).
  • Clothing-Concealed Injury: Pirate Girl Zilastra rarely takes off her gloves due to having had her hands surgically remade after they were blown off by a thermal detonator that she set off to kill her first Jedi.
  • Old Retainer: Seneschal Voh has been the caretaker of the Jedi waystation on Kwenn for nearly a century and is on familiar terms with every Jedi Councilor.
  • Those Two Guys: Plo Koon and Saesaee Tinn get paired together for much of the book, as do Ki-Adi-Mundi and Yarael Poof, with the differences in their outlooks and methods being used for a lot of humor.

@ Star Wars: The Living Force

  • Evil Is Cool: Zilastra's Badass Normal and The Chessmaster moments, sense of daring, and fondness for tarot cards have won her a lot more interest than the average Star Wars EU Big Bad.
  • Salvaged Story: Most previous installments of both Canon and Legends focus more on the Jedi Councilors as warriors than as the kinds of people who'd get appointed to the Council during peacetime, and the Jedi Council's seeming inability to help or empathize with average citizens has been frequently criticized. Here, most of the Councilors are humanized a lot, show more wisdom and humility, help solve Slice of Life problems in the Galaxy, and clearly care about the people they interact with.
  • Win Back the Crowd: Many readers who have felt underwhelmed by the Star Wars Universe in recent years praise this book as a fun, meaningful read that raises excitement and optimism about what may follow.

@ Lovable Alpha Bitch

  • Mall Goth: Layla is a confident, occasionally irritable popular girl who is the lead singer of a local band. However, her long-term boyfriend and favorite cousin are both goths, and Layla has a Closet Geek gamer streak, reaches out to the lonely New Transfer Student protagonist, and is forgiving of multiple incidents which would normally cause a Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure.

Pokemon S 10 E 18 Oer The Rampardos We Watched

  • Irony: During Ash's first battle with Roark, he faced a significant setback due to the extraordinary jumping skills of Cranidos. Ash's attempts to attack or dodge from the air were futile, and he ended up losing the match. However, in their second encounter, Ash used his Turtwig's cunning tactics to trick Rampardos into jumping, leaving it vulnerable to be defeated by Razor Leaf. As a result, Ash emerged victorious in the rematch.

As Ash prepares for his rematch against Roark, everyone wonders whether the Spin Dodge technique Dawn taught him will finally be enough to secure his first Sinnoh Gym Badge.

Pokemon S 10 E 16 A Gruff Act To Follow

  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Ash's failure to obtain an official gym badge can be attributed to Roark's tactic of leading with his powerful Cranidos, which caught Ash off guard and left him ill-equipped to handle the situation.
    • Although Ash is aware of Cranidos' incredible speed and powerful Headbutt attacks, he is left dumbfounded by the fossil Pokemon's ability to jump. This characteristic makes it difficult for Ash to dodge its formidable attacks, ultimately leading to Aipom's quick defeat.
    • Ash is also taken aback by Cranidos's ability to absorb significant damage without showing any signs of weakness. As a result, Pikachu and Turtwig finally made an enormous effort to take it down.
    • Ash's defeat was sealed due to the severe damage inflicted by Cranidos on Pikachu and Turtwig. This made it easier for Roark's powerful Onix to knock them out, especially with its incredible speed and surprise Screech counterattack. Ultimately, it was too much for both of them to handle.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In his first battle against Ash, Roark emerged victorious with two of his three Pokémon still standing. This was largely due to Cranidos' efforts, who managed to weaken Ash's team enough for Onix to finish them.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Although Ash and his team put up a valiant fight against Roark and even managed to defeat Cranidos, the fossil Pokemon's exceptional battling skills and stamina caught Ash by surprise too many times, resulting in a crushing 2-3 defeat.
  • Victory by Endurance: Ash's defeat against Roark can be attributed to the damage caused by Roark's Cranidos, which inflicted severe long-term damage on Ash's team. Aipom was quickly knocked out and Pikachu and Turtwig were pushed to their limits. By the time Cranidos was defeated, Ash realized it had taken too much time and effort to defeat Roark's Signature Mon. As a result, Onix had no trouble knocking out Ash's remaining team members.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: An important aspect of Ash's defeat was the relentless attacks from Roark's Pokemon, particularly Cranidos, which made it difficult for Ash's team to dodge and resulted in a lot of accumulated damage that severely crippled their chances of winning.

One Piece: Monkey D. Luffy

  • Know When to Fold 'Em: After several attempts to defeat the Five Elders, Luffy, Dorry, and Broggy realized that their attacks were not leaving any significant damage. Even when hit by their own strikes, the Elders kept rejuvenating quickly. Frustrated, Luffy called for a retreat on Egghead.

For the Magnificent Bastard thread:

  • Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: Melody is a ghost working for Garraka in order to move on and reunite with her family. Befriending Phoebe, Melody fakes a haunting in order to follow Phoebe home and learn about the Ghostbusters containment unit. Melody eventually tricks Phoebe into temporarily turning a ghost, so that Garraka can use her body to say the chant to free him. Using Garraka's invasion as a distraction, Melody sneaks into the Ghostbusters' base to release their captured ghosts, only being talked down by Phoebe. Legitimately bonding with and befriending Phoebe, Melody later helps Phoebe trap Garraka by lighting her match to aid the Firemaster, before finally moving on and promising to see Phoebe in the "Fabric of the Universe."

The Last of Us - WLF

Abby

  • Hypocrite:
    • Despite her constant emphasis on loyalty and her criticism of Owen for deserting, Abby's own loyalty seems questionable as she betrays the W.L.F., the faction that provided refuge for her group when they had nowhere else to go, for a boy she hardly knows. While it is true that the Wolves are not saints, Abby's willingness to switch sides so easily reveals her tendency to prioritize her own interests above all else.
    • In the same vein, her discussion on gratitude lacks sincerity given that she took Joel's life even after and his brother saved her.
  • Plot Armor: When it comes to escaping death, Abby seems to be more fortunate than Joel and Ellie.
    • Three times she finds herself in near-death situations, and each time she is rescued by the most unexpected individuals. First, by Joel and Tommy, the people she is searching for. Second, by Lev and Yara, recent deserters of the faction she is up against. Lastly, by Ellie, who ironically intended to kill her but ends up sparing her in the end.
    • She and Lev tumble off the bridge connecting buildings and conveniently land in an indoor pool. Despite the significant drop from multiple stories high, the both of them manage to survive.
    • During the sniper encounter on Day 3, Abby and Manny try to outflank him by entering the room he is in through a side door that had been barricaded from the other side. Little do they know that this is a trap set by the sniper to catch them off guard. Though Manny is killed, Abby miraculously managed to push the door open wide enough for her to slip through, despite having given up just moments before. What's more fortunate is that the sniper could have shot her first instead of Manny.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Based on her discussion with Manny and Mel, it seemed that Abby had no issues with killing Seraphite children in the past. However, her perspective shifts after meeting Yara and Lev.

AwesomeMusic.Puyo Puyo (Fever)

  • The Fever theme from Fever 1 is an incredibly upbeat and exciting track that perfectly fits the power boost that one gets when they enter Fever Mode. Endless Fever contains an extended version that makes the theme all the better thanks to several new segments and an added electric guitar that complements the theme greatly and adds to its hype factor.

YMMV.Puyo Puyo:

  • Fandom Heresy:

  • Cult Classic: The series has this status in the West. Despite most of the series being Japanese-only, it has obtained a highly dedicated following of fans who enjoy the series for its in-depth gameplay, lovable cast of characters, and the surprising amount of lore for a puzzle game.

Come for the X, Stay for the Y:

  • Puyo Puyo Tetris: Come for Tetris, stay for Puyo Puyo and its charming world and characters. Sega was betting on this when they brought the game over to the West and, for what it's worth, it worked out, as the game would revitalize interest in the Puyo Puyo series in the West after it was ignored for years following Puyo Puyo Fever.

VideoGame.Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop:

  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first game in the series to use the English logo globally instead of having separate Japanese and English logos. According to producer Mizuki Hosoyamada in an interview, this is to signify that this is the first Puyo Puyo game to be developed with a global audience in mind, rather than a Japanese audience like previous games.
