I switched teams a while back. Marisa is with Bowser and Porygon now.

@Gamechanger I think it would be better if you add the team compositions into the OP. Should make it easier to keep track of who is with who.

-Giggles- I agree. I wasn't actually serious on using that name. Still, I do think Blue Team is a bit dull.

Before we go further, I think it's best if we get to know each other better. "Know yourself before knowing your enemy" and all that.

Also, I don't think Bowser has any elemental weaknesses. The only element I can think of that he has a natural resistance to is fire.

Question, since Tim rolled first to determine our initial door selection, would he be first in turn/rotation order? I want to get this point out of the way so we can properly set up our turn order.

On a minor note, is there a reason you insist on referring to our methods of randomly generating numbers as RNG? For some of us, in my perspective, it's easier to think of this as rolling dice, even if it's only virtual dice that we're rolling, and even though dice technically counts as a form of random number generation. For me at least, the two methods are functionally equivalent.

@Mhazard: What was that number you rolled for, or was that simply testing the dice/rng mechanic? If that's you rolling for the number of turns it takes to get to the next thing, I think a d20 would be better suited to determining that, given that the stated number of turns to reach the next intersection/thing is 1-20 turns. Additionally, what are your thoughts on the team name(s) Beatrice has proposed and our party's turn order?

"You changed heart rather quickly," Beatrice said to Priscilla.

"Do you see anything in there?" she then asked Tim.

I'm only referring to random number generator as RNG to save time.

To to hammer the point home about not using dice: some of the lists aren't set in stone, so unless you have a 50-plus sided dice then forget about using them since more possibilities may be added to the lists.

Just testing which RNG dice to use.

Well, as long as I swing first, or they don't hit me, I'd be fine I guess? After all, even though I'm fluffy, I'm still a dragon.

Since some people are still confused about the fact that this game doesn't use dice, I put a link to an online generator in the OP to show how the numbers are chosen.

For the randomly-generated rooms and enemies, I think it's best that I include a "create your own" option in which if the other players like the thing you made up, it gets added to the RNG list. That way I won't be the one doing all the brainstorming in case I get writer's block.

I'm a tactical doll. My body is built specifically to handle this weapon. -motions to her SMG- Think of it as a kind of "branding". I can feel every inch of the gun like it's an extension of my body. I'll know if a part is loose, how many bullets are left in the magazine, or where the barrel points at, all without touching the gun.

That doesn't mean I can't use other weapons. But given the choice, I'd rather use this than anything we might find here.

Anyways, I think we can start the game for real now.

Monster level is at most equal to your own until they max out at Level 10 (that changes when you complete your first tower), and their stats are based on their description. The experience gained from them depends on their level. Level 1 monsters are worth 100 points.

Here's the level system, which is based on increasing the Exp. gain difference between levels by 100:

Current Level Base Exp. Exp. Needed
1 0 100
2 100 300
3 400 600
4 1000 1000
5 2000 1500

Since this a tutorial part of the maze, the first intersection is 10 maze paths away. After that each team has to use the Random Number Generator to pick a number from 1 to 20 that'll determine how far the next intersection is.

For both the maze paths and the enemies you fight, you can create your own maze path/enemy without needing to use the RNG, but once the other players approve of your creation it gets added to the RNG.

Remember, you have to use the RNG twice when it's your turn: once for the maze path, and once for what enemy you encounter (the exception is any room that already contains a foe).

Here's the Random Number Generator list for the maze paths. If you want the frequency of one of them to be adjusted, let me know.

  • 1) Empty room
  • 2) Room with a locked door that won't open unless you try to solve a brain teaser (failure to solve the puzzle means that you have to win a fight against the boss that was behind the Black Door with the Skull and Crossbones to open the door)
  • 3) Laser Hallway
  • 4) Bad Guy Bar (contains 5 foes of your choice, you gain a level if you defeat them all)
  • 5) A rickety bridge over a bottomless pit
  • 6) Crumbly "stepping stone" rocks that are a few feet above a lava pit
  • 7) Recovery Room A (contains a shop to buy armor and weapons, and a buffet table to restore your health)
  • 8) A corridor completely filled with thorny vines
  • 9) A chamber with ice-covered floors and icicles everywhere
  • 10) Recovery Room B (no shop, but has a hot springs to restore your health)
  • 11) A long hallway that has a Descending Ceiling with spikes on it, with the door you came out of being closed off. To survive you have to make it the other end of the hallway. (No monster fight for this room)
  • 12) A room with a deep lake of blood, with an eldritch tentacled monstrosity swimming in it. (You have to defeat the monster to continue)
  • 13) A unholy chapel dedicated to a Lovecraftian deity that's full of its cult worshippers. (There's at least 10 of them, and they count as regular enemies. There can be as much as 30 of them, depends on how badass you think your team is)
  • 14) DEATH BATTLE! arena (Choose a member of your team to fight for you since that member has to fight to the death with a worthy foe. Must follow the Death Battle rules.)
  • 15) A room full of gold and jewelry. (Just ordinary treasure, so no gaining special affects from them)
  • 16) A room full of sewage.
  • 17) A Blackout Basement room whose darkness hides the walls of the mini-maze of its own.
  • 18) A room that reverberates with an ear-splitting sound with no off switch in sight (think nails on a chalkboard, but worse)
  • 19) A large Level Ate room that's dessert-themed. Contains sentient 7-feet tall carnivorous gummy bears that have to fight. There's 15 of them total.

And here's the enemy RNG list:

Bowser smacks his lips. This foe seems like a good appetizer.

Bowser: I don't know why he's here, but he reminds me of the other times a creepy newcomer arrived and that puts me in the mood for some pummeling!

And besides, the cold never bothered me anyway! I'm sorry

Yep!

Caboose would smile under his helmet as he looked at the spik- Hold on a minute. Caboose was on the ground. Spikes were painful. Things falling were painful-

Caboose began to run towards the other side of the hallway, flailing his arms the whole way.
