I'm lucky to own a lot of games, but specifically...

Xenoblade Chronicles, Kirby's Air Ride, Mega Man Classic and X Collections (w/cases), Tales of Symphonia Gamecube, Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection, Ghost Trick, The World Ends With You, all 9 console Mario Parties, Banjo-Tooie and Kazooie, DK 64, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Skyward Sword, Pokemon Heart Gold (w/case) and every Spyro game complete with cases for the non-GBA stuff.

...I consider myself easily lucky.

Hm. I have a gold cartridge of Majora's Mask for the N64, not everyone has those.

And my sister got me Shadow of Mordor for Christmas without any input from or hint to me. She's really good at presents.

But that's a story for another time.

Ah, man. I wish I was as lucky as you. I've been trying to find that game cheap for years. Granted, I haven't been trying very hard but still!

Thanks. It's also connected to a different story. The funny thing is, I took Sakura Wars as a consolation prize. I was actually browsing the store for Tales Of The Abyss (3DS version), picked up the box, brought it to the cash register, and was told that they ran out but forget to take the box of the display. So, determined not to leave empty-handed after such crushing disappointment, I decided to browse the second-hand pile. The girl at the cash register congratulated me on the find.

I also reserved Tales Of The Abyss in case they'd get those in new. Had to wait for six months. The good part is, though, that the same girl was on the day I came to pick it up, and she actually remembered me.

I'd say that any day a pretty girl remembers seeing you six months before is a lucky day indeed.

Another game I'm lucky to own: The Legend Of Zelda; The Wind Waker. Not because the game was extraordinarily rare, but because, at the time, I was just a kid without much money to spend on his own (and shitty taste to boot), so I could only afford a single game every few months. I went out to buy the game, but unfortunately, it seemed that I had made a mistake when checking the release schedule, as I couldn't find it.

I went home, but somewhere between the store and home, I decided I was really bored and itching for any new game, so I went back to the store to buy a different game that I was also eyeing instead, called Evolution Worlds. Turns out, in that incredibly short span of time, the store set up this huge (well, in my memory, at least) display dedicated to nothing but The Wind Waker. I was happy as a kid in a toy store, and went home with a game that would go on to become one of my favourite titles ever.

About a decade later, I came across Evolution Worlds in the second-hand bin, the second time I had ever seen that title in my entire life. It was only five euros, and I felt it was too weird a coincidence not to pick it up. I brought it home, played for an hour, and decided that I had been very, very lucky indeed that one day in 2003.

...I've played Amazing Mirror on my first 3DS when I had the Ambassador Program.

Is Amazing Mirror on the Wii U's eShop?

I also have Earth Bound on the eShop, but I'm only counting physical copies.

Shenmue II for the Dreamcast. After it was cancelled for the US, my Gamestop got in a few PAL copies, and I knew the staff so they set one aside for me (I had a preorder that had been cancelled).

First game I'd imported, and one of the best games I've played. Never seen Gamestop import a game before or since.

Christ... going over the gems of my collection is going to be tricky. I've been picking up games for nearly 30 years now. Let's see...

I received Gotcha Force directly from Capcom, as I was reviewing video games back when that came out. I fiercely guard it.

I do have the special edition for both Record of Agarest War and its prequel, which I bought when they came out.

I also bought the infamous Mushihime Sama for the PS2 back before it became super well-known, so I have the black label version. I similarly have the non-greatest hits version of Mushihime-sama Futari for the 360, and Espgaluda II Black Label for the 360. Somewhat less lucky, but along the same lines, I do have the special edition of the American release of Death Smiles.

For the ones that probably get me the most geek cred, I own the entire Mother Trilogy. I have the GBA Mother 1+2 compilation rerelease, I also own the SNES version of Earth Bound, and I also have the GBA version of Mother 3.

Oh, along the lines of "importing for fun and profit," I do own Radiant Silvergun and the Japanese version of Guardian Heroes as well.

My PS1 collection is pretty good for rare stuff. I have Final Fantasy Tactics black label, Xenogears, Einhänder, both special edition Lunar games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (sadly, Greatest Hits version), and that's just what I remember off the top of my head.

I would have to check my portable list to see just what's rare on that... ones I know that I was lucky to get include The World Ends With You, Radiant Historia, all of the GBA Castlevania titles, Mega Man Battle Network (much harder to find than any of its sequels), TwinBee (the Japanese Famicom Classics series), all three Phoenix Wright DS games (picked up during a brief reprint of all three), Luminous Arc (in particular, special for me, because one of the guys who worked on the US version was a friend and slipped my name in as one that can come up for mooks), and Etrian Odyssey IV.

The really rare games I have are Infinite Space and Growlanser Generations. I have Xenoblade, but it's the European version which is...less rare. I also have Dragon Warrior 7. Still haven't beaten it. That game is loooooong.

A boxed copy of Final Fantasy VI - Advance version. It's used, but still has the box and everything that came in it, and a bit of minor scuffing on the box itself is all that stops it being mint condition.

Found it at a Comicon last year for $25. On Amazon, it's going for $100+

Oh, apparently, I'm told that my SNES collection has a few rarities besides the obvious Earth Bound cart. I actually have two copies of Secret of Mana (one was picked up when it came out, the other was just $5 at a yard sale), Final Fantasy VI (of course, with Final Fantasy III on the label), Chrono Trigger (I have the DS version as well, though that's not quite the rarity), and Super Mario RPG.

Oh, I'm not sure if this is rare or just really popular, but I do have the GC Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition disc. I admit that I made sure to pick it up solely because my N64 copy of Ocarina of Time disappeared in a move (look, as large as my game collection is, it sometimes is tricky to keep track of everything), and I wanted to be sure that I had a copy of such a great game. That said, having Majora's Mask in another form was pretty nice, too. (This would be why it wasn't a crushing blow that I couldn't get the 3DS rerelease on its first week of sale.) The copies of the original The Legend Of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link aren't quite as important; I own two gold cart copies of each (one each from picking them up back in the days of the NES; one because my wife saw them for a buck each at a yard sale and figured "why not?").

Oh, one last one that might be a more personal one - my wife also once picked up a copy of Baseball Stars for the NES for a buck. She didn't even know the game; she just likes baseball and figured she could ask me about it. I was through the roof with joy when she brought it back; she was shocked at how happy I was. Then I showed her some of the stuff in there, and she got addicted to it.

A few Gamecube RP Gs I own I guess.

Tales of Symphonia which I got way back in Xmas 04 and instantly became one of my favourite games ever and still has a soft spot in my heart to this day despite having played many better RP Gs since. That same Xmas I also got Paper Mario:TTYD which I traded in at one point only to find it for £17 years later.

Baten Kaitos I got one birthday. Had been hyped for this game for a good year before its release to be quite disappointed by the finished product but glad I've not sold it on ever even though it doesn't command that high a price.

Skies of Arcadia Legends felt like the greatest bit of luck at the time. 2 years tracking it down and happened across it when browsing at my local Game Station (I miss that store, used to be so great for retro games) for around £30.

But the one I'm absolutely the most lucky to own and the most grateful for is Fire Emblem Po R which I got pretty near release. To see how much it is worth now even used feels unreal tongue On the other hand my copy of Radiant Dawn seems to be lost forever. I have everything but the disc which an ex of mine lost whilst they were borrowing it. Haunts me to this day sad

I mean some of them aren't all that hard to find or that expensive to purchase second hand but I feel lucky to have experienced them when they were not so much on the radar of anyone at school.

I think it has to be Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition, since I got it with Mario Kart Double Dash without purchasing the bundle, somehow. I also got Wind Waker with the Ocarina of Time: Master Quest bonus disc and a PAL version of Terranigma. I also consider myself lucky for owning Killer7 (PS 2 version), Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, The Last Story and Pandoras Tower.

And if I'm reading the thread right I'm lucky to own Xenoblade (but then I'm European), Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, all Phoenix Wright games on the DS and TWEWY.

[up][up] Yeah, the European version of Xenoblade occupies a weird space in rarity. It's kind of expensive now, but it was easily available for about a year, before the Wii was basically dumped in favor of the Wii U. The American version was Gamestop exclusive and only sold new for like four months.

[up][up] Yeah they're both worth quite a bit now. Even used copies of Path of Radiance I believe are going upwards of £/$100 on Ebay and for a new copies you are looking at around 200. Radiant Dawn is around 50-80 but even more if new and in mint condition. smile

I've got an original steelbook case copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy that's in fairly good condition. To be honest, I'm thinking of selling the thing tbh since I could probably use the money (assuming I can actually get $150 out of it)

Oh man, I never had an Infinite Space cart, but I have played it. I'd love to get my hands on a PAL copy just to say I own it - my DS doesn't even work any more.

To begin my post, I'll talk about a game I don't have any more - Wario Land II. It's not necessarily a rarity, but I'm the only person I know who's played it. It was a black Game Boy cart, and it played on Game Boy Color but it didn't work on an original Game Boy I tried once. Probably one of my favorite platformers of all time - it's not necessarily uber-rare, but man I loved that game. I lost it on a holiday yeeeeears ago.

I also got a limited edition Pokemon GBC, in the same gift as Wario Land II. I still have it, but it's looking pretty gnarly - the screen is scratched, one of the battery springs has been bent for years, the battery cover has been gone for longer than that - hell, some batteries even exploded in the battery slots I think, and I'm 85% sure that it can still turn on and run a game. I was like 5 when I got it - you don't collect stuff as a kid, you have fun with it. And man, did I have fun with that GBC.

Moving on - I have a copy of Arc: Twilight Of the Spirits (or Arc the Lad, if you're American). It's an underrated PS 2 strategy JRPG, with the vocal talents of Quinton Flynn, Grey DeLisle, Steve Blum and Dee Bradley Parker, as well as other notable V As. I used to get all these demo discs years ago, and I remember playing some of the demos for hours on end - Arc was one of those demos. It was one of those demos where you had a time limit, like Dragon Quest's that offered 1 hour of gameplay before ending - I don't know how long this one was, but I only ever got to the end of the included level once. I had the good fortune to find it in my town's used game shop for $10 just last year, and now it's the jewel of my collection.

Another demo-related game I picked up last year was Downhill Domination, a PS 2 BMX game where you can knock players off their bikes with punches, kicks, and by beating them in the head with a stick. It was sponsored by eBay and Mountain Dew - it's not as good as the demo was when I was a kid, but it's still a lucky find.

I have Vortex and FFIII(VI), and I had Chrono Trigger somewhere but it has apparently been carried off by the same creatures that steal your socks from the laundry. I have a sneaking suspicion that a sibling may have broken it and disposed of the evidence. [lol]
