@Ripple: To my credit, they do meet Johnathon right around he meets Zeppeli. And I did say eventual mastery.
@Magic: I made him to be the HK-47 of Kingdom Hearts because in-character he's kind of a spiteful dick. Out-of-character, because awesome.
@Equipment: And depending on the armor, I'll be adding actual weapons to contrast it.
@Armor: Right, long range weapons are go.
Since this fic doesn't include Dream, Drop, Distance (I haven't played it.) Sora was still as powerful as he was at the end KH 2 and he's gotten even stronger. His swordplay has improved after months of sparing with many Final Fantasy heroes like Cecil and Firion.
He can now Doublecast, which is OP when he can summon two types of barriers, attack and heal at the same time and other stuff.
His Drive Forms have gotten better but have new weaknesses.
Valor Form: Grants him Super Strength and Durability, however if he stays in the Valor Form for too long he'll act like he was Berserked (Fire Emblem style) and attack anyone.
Wisdom Form: Since his repitore of magic has increased, he learn to cast Float and can now fly and has Super Speed. He can't take many hits though.
Master Form: Is a Red Mage through and through, it's very balanced.
Anti-Form: Can now fire mouth lasers but still is a Glass Cannon.
Final Form: Super Mode, but it drains him to the point where it's not worth it.

Riku can open mini-dimensional rifts as form of Teleport Spam and he uses it to get around. Utility-wise, his White Magic (Using Final Fantasy terms here) has gotten much better in terms of healing and thus he can last the longest without needing any items. There's also the fact that he's pretty quick to be Combat Pragmatist.

Kairi is finally, finally an Action Girl! A Magic Knight with emphasis on magic, Kairi can spam high-level spells like their nothing and dish out combos with her Keyblade. She's the only person who can Triplecast due her status as a natural Keyblade user and a Princess of Heart giving her massive magic potential. She's also the female OC's (Let's call her Sophie from now on) and Shin's mentor in controlling their innate magical potential. (Sophie's Black Magic and Shin's Time Magic and his status as a Summoner)

I recall reading a KHII official guide thing that said that every use of Final form heavily decreases the odds of Anti Form activating, so it probably won't pop up for post-game Sora.

IIRC, using Valor/Wisdom/Master forms give you one Anti-point. You have a [x] percentage chance to go into Anti Form when you have 4 or more points, and doing so will cost 4 points.
Turning into Final Form, however, will decrease your Anti-points by 10.

@Armor: Last I checked, Exia was the swordspam Gundam, which 00 supposedly followed up on. If the Exia/00 line were to have a significant projectile move, I'd expect it to be a full-on Storm of Blades.

I only am aware of the mechanics regarding Anti-Form because they're related to unlocking Final Form. The Organization XIII boss fights quadruple the chance of turning Anti-Form. And after Sora's Battle in the Center of the Mind with Roxas, he has Final but it only activates the first time randomly, like with Anti-Form.

Nothing much to say about the OC's abilities. KH is a giant crossover verse where basically any ability can fit in, and it seems you're not going to be making it overpowered in context, so no issues.
Sora getting the Red Mage special ability makes sense given what a Jack-of-All-Trades he is. Valor form has a mental flaw, Wisdom has a physical flaw, Final is only useful if he doesn't need to be able to stand up after he uses it, all well and good. The thing is, if Master form doesn't have a drawback, there's not much reason for him to use any of the others. As a side note, it may interest you to know that Final Mix introduced a new form

I do hope Riku still has all his scary DARKNESS powers, because the Dark Knight type being the best healer in the party amuses me. How'd he learn to do the teleport thing? That's the only power that stands out to me as not easily explainable through Kingdom Hearts mechanics of Final Fantasy magic.
Kairi's magical repertoire should probably include some Light/Holy spells like the stuff Mickey and Minnie can do. I imagine being a Princess of Heart gives those a little extra oomph.
On an unrelated note, the theory that all Pixar movies happen in the same timeline
makes me want to write a story about Boo (having over the years turned to science to try and reunite with Sully), Sid (having over the years turned to magic to protect himself from the toys he learned can move and think), and some undetermined third character managing to open up a portal to Kingdom Hearts. No idea about the plot beyond that, though, so it'll probably never happen.

Yes, it has Crippling Overspecialization in close range combat and the SI very well knows this. So more guns!

He has a MacGuffin that lets him transforms into said forms by himself. They're more powerful now but they're more flawed.

Yes. He doesn't show it off as much as he'd like to as he's pretty high up in the Forces Of Light and it wouldn't be good for morale if he displayed it like a classic art painting.

@Armor: Aww, that's no fun. In that case, if he wants more long-range stuff, he should go for the Kira Yamato line of armor Strike->Freedom->Strike Freedom.
@Riku: ... but he's, like, the poster boy for Dark Is Not Evil! And since I imagine Light is headed up by people like, I dunno, Sora and King Mickey instead of hardliners like Eraqus, I'd imagine that Light would be more tolerant of well-meaning DARKNESS users.

Personally, I'd argue that Riku being visibly Dark Is Not Evil would be a good idea. Final Fantasy has had Necromancer and Dark Knight as classes for people who didn't need to redemption-arc out of them, and misunderstandings are less likely to occur if the rank-and-file on Team Light are aware that good people using DARKNESS is a thing that can happen.
Say, are Donald and Goofy going to be involved in this thing?

@Armor: Well, truth be told the F-91 -> V-Dash Gundam Hexa -> V2 Gundam Assault Buster was going to be the Multi-Ranged Master line. The Strike is a Jack of all Trades due to the Striker Packs, the Freedom is okay but I really don't care for it and I FUCKING HATE THE STRIKE FREEDOM! In fact, since the self insert is based off me (no shit) he'll hate it too. Anyways, If I went with the Multi-Melee Master line, then I would be building guns to be used out of the armor. And if I go with the Multi-Ranged Master, I would be making melee weapons. Being Crazy Prepared is the key.
@Riku: This is a war setting, remember? They had to bulk up their numbers and there's always a chance are that they would get people like that.
@Master Form: I guess that I can play it where he's a glass cannon or where it's straining but not as much as Final Form.
@Donald and Goofy: Yes, but I was going to use Max who in this fic is trained by Kain Highwind.

This is Humanity we're talking about. We're pretty dickish to things that we can't understand.
Oh and this fic is Bloodier and Gorier then canon for obvious reasons. Sure, I'll write stylish combat as it's Kingdom Hearts. Oh, and It'll have SOME War Is Glorius elements but it mainly is War Is Hell.

Anyone can die. (White Mages with Raise/Arise aside)
Everyone in our group and our allies is horrified at what we did to survive. Our Humans are Crazy Awesome Warriors after all.
Our group, Ragnarok is basically feared by everyone. When you kill the current God of Magic and replace him with one of your allies (FFVI!Terra) you become this.
I lose a limb and my eyes.
My parents and twin brother are missing.
My brother is the resident Char Clone.
War Is Glorious:
We get really BAD. ASS.
I become a Gundam. (Eat it Setsuna!)
I note my growth as a person.
We learned that YOLO and Carpe Diem actually mean something.
The two OC's love for each other is stronger then ever (Read: Going into marriage.) and I met and fell in love with my love interest.
I get filthy rich due to selling mass produced mook suits and popularizing transforming Gummi Ships in the military.
To most of the fandom I get to fight along side Sooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. But I wanted to fight along side Riku and I do. (Whose a better character then Sora, honestly.)

A balance. I hate it as took so much me (Home, family) forced us to enlist (Keyblade users are forced to enlist because their OP as fuck) and the fact that I lost bodyparts that will be replaced will be something that I will have to live with for the rest of my life.

Having been predominantly playing Final Mix, I'm kind of sore that Sora and Mickey (and Roxas and Shion, by virtue of also being Sora) aren't the only Keyblade bearers.
Man, for the days when there could be only one Master of the Keyblade (King Mickey having the Keyblade of the Realm of Darkness, Sora having the Keyblade of the Realm of Light, in place of Riku).
Getting off of my tangent and back to the original thought that led to this post....
"forced to enlist" um, who exactly is in charge of the army, here? Because literally the only canon KH character I can imagine doing that is Marluxia. And since most if not all of the canon Keybearers seem to be implied to be with Sora, King Mickey, and their amazing friends....
Maybe its a misconception, but the persistent use of I and my lend a self insert flavour to your story.
In my fanfic, due to the 'verse, its made clear there were numerous Keyblade Wielders, including the children of Sora and Riku, as well as rather more antagonistic characters such as Perseus Sarasho, who is inferred to have taken up his sword from his father, a war hero.
There's also going to be mention of more such children of the infamously "flash-chosen" Key Wielders who showed up during the main series written by Lord Cavendish...or at least, the children of the surviving membership.
Its also made clear that several worlds have differing views on Keyblade Wielders, what their role is, and what kind of people they tend to be.

@Physical: So, Senator Armstrong meets Domon Kasshu, plus Ripple? Okay, but remember that Ripple is supposed to be ZOMG hard to come by. Jonathan and Joseph could learn it (Joseph was even born with it), but recall Speedwagon wasn't able to learn it.
@Magic: So, Newtype powers give him Spider-Sense against magic, and fin funnels can deflect it.
@Equipment: assorted Funnel/Bit weaponry, and some psycommu-controlled GN-powered attack bots.
@Armor: I support the Exia/00 line.
So if the SI is this much stuff, and Sora and Riku and Kairi are all still more powerful, then how powerful are they?
