Welcome to a land of adventure and fantasy, a Fantasy Kitchen Sink world based loosely on Europe in The Middle Ages, with elements of other cultures and eras as well.

The RP is mainly a combination of Wide-Open Sandbox and Slice of Life genres, and starts in the peaceful medieval village of Northglen, a mid-sized town in the Kingdom. The ruler of this unnamed fantasy kingdom is King Phillip of the Motzinger Dynasty. He is a benevolent and just king, and is a human.

Some of the local landmarks in Northglen include...

  • The Wolf's Paw: A tavern and a popular meeting place for the residents of Northglen
  • Town Hall: The residence of Count Andrew, the Half-Elf nobleman who oversees the fiefdom of Northglen
  • The Chapel: A beautiful stone chapel dedicated to a good-aligned goddess.
  • Northglen Library: An arcane library where many mages go to study
  • Old Cemetery: A vast graveyard behind the Chapel, a popular hangout for undead and other dark creatures at night.

CHARACTER CLASSES

Okay, characters have the following classes....

  • Peasant: These hardy, yet poor folk are commoners and the majority of the Kingdom's inhabitants
  • Warrior: The fighters of the land, whether they be guards, soldiers, mercenaries, knights, or cavaliers.
  • Rogue: Thieves, spies, assassins, acrobats, and the like
  • Ranger: Protectors of the forest and master archers
    • NOTE: Must be good-aligned
  • Wizard: Arcane Mages who study magical lores and cast spells
  • Priest: The divine spellcasters and clergy of the Kingdom's many gods and goddesses
    • NOTE: We will be invoking All Myths Are True, and use various pantheons of history and culture. The Greek Pantheon, Norse Pantheon, Celtic Pantheon, Egyptian Pantheon, and Shinto Pantheon are all viable options, as is Christianity (albeit of the Anime Catholicism variety). Evil Priests may serve deities such as The Great Old Ones, Set, the Crimson King, Satan, Lilith, or other famous demons and arch-devils.
  • Paladin: These divine and holy knights fight for righteousness and justice, and serve their deities with utmost respect and honor
  • Monk: Scholars of faith and philosophy, and also Martial Pacifist figures who practice hand-to-hand combat.
  • Druid: Clergy of the wilderness and of Mother Nature herself known to commune with nature in all of its forms
  • Amazonian: These barbaric berserkers are known for being the fiercest warriors out there.
    • NOTE: The Amazonian is obviously a female-only class and must be of a chaotic alignment, most are Chaotic Good, but not all of them.
  • Bard: Entertainers and dabblers of various arts
  • Vampire: Once they were living, now they are undead monsters who drink the blood of the living and can only be out at night, for the sun would kill them.
    • NOTE: Vampires must be of an evil alignment and cannot be out in the day. They are also a template rather than a proper class, and must be paired with another class from the list
  • Aristocrat: The nobility and the elites of the Kingdom's society. Players who are aristocrats are assumed to be lesser nobility.
  • Gambler: These wandering gamblers rely on chance and luck for their magical abilities and often have talismans of luck and power
  • Engineer: These skilled and learned tinkers make machinery and wonderous devices to take with them on adventures
  • Witch-Doctor: These primitive tribesmen call upon the spirits for their powers and use them to ward off their enemies.

Okay, here are the rules...

  • Standard forum rules apply (no god-modding, no ghosting, etc.)
  • All characters must be approved by the GM to ensure that they are not overpowered
  • You can have more than one character if you can handle it
  • Have fun!

[up]Wonderful, you can have multiple characters if you wish and I look forward to seeing your character should you join

  • Name: Melissa
  • Race: Snow Elf
  • Class: Vampire/Wizard (As a vampire, she must multi-class since vampire is a template and not a full class)
  • Alignment: Lawful Evil
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Melissa is a tall and curvy woman of medium build appearing in her late teens, and like all Snow Elves, she has ice blue eyes, jet black hair, and pale skin that has only gotten more gaunt and pale with the curse of undeath. She dresses modestly and elegantly, wearing a black gown and black slippers, as well as a silver skull amulet and silver rings.
  • Abilities, Powers, and Equipment: Melissa has the following abilities and equipment
    • Vampiric Abilities
      • Potence: Supernatural strength, one-and-a-half-times stronger than a normal human, and will grow stronger with age.
      • Celerity: Supernatural speed, one-and-a-half-times stronger than a normal human, and will grow faster with age
      • Fortitude: Supernatural endurance, one-and-a-half-times the stamina and endurance of a normal human being, and will grow tougher with age
      • Auspex: Supernatural perception, with enhanced senses twice that of a normal human being, and the ability to perceive auras. With age, the abilities will expand to spirit perception, telepathy, and after a long time, astral projection.
      • The Blood Bond: By feeding her vampiric blood to another living being, she can turn them into a ghoul slave, making them addicted to her blood and completely at her service. Being a younger vampire, this requires more blood from here to make the bond stronger, but an older and more powerful vampire can enslave someone with a mere drop. Melissa, being a fledgling vampire, needs a pint of blood to make someone into her slave.
    • Wizard Spells
      • Magic Missile: A ball of destructive magical energy
      • Acid Arrow: A bolt of acid
      • Fireball: A small ball of fire
      • Touch of Frost: Upon contact, she can make people feel cold and if touched long enough, the subject can get hypothermia
      • Sphere of Light: A small sphere of artificial light held in the spellcaster's hand
    • Weapons
      • Steel Shortsword
    • Vampire Weaknesses
      • Killed by Sunlight
      • Paralyzed by a wooden or otherwise natural stake though the heart
      • Weak against fire and the divine abilities of a good-aligned Priest or Paladin
      • Repulsive to animals
  • Personality: Melissa has been a vampire for two years now, and has now entered the dark side. While she still tries to restrain herself, she still is predatory and manipulative, and nobody in Northglen knows she is a vampire, as she was not a local, but instead came from colder lands farther north in the kingdom. Deceptive and Affably Evil, Melissa is a new player in the village, and resides in the Old Cemetery, hiding in a small burial chamber above ground.
  • Other: Only walks around at night for obvious reasons, is trying to gather a small cult, but is biding her time

  • Name: Gregory (The Broken Bone as a pen name)
  • Race: Skeleton (previously human)
  • Class: Bard
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Oh, hello there. Welcome to my humble abode.
  • Abilities, Powers, and Equipment:
    • Abilities:
      • No need to eat, drink, breathe or sleep.
      • Immunity to bleeding, disease and poison.
      • Resistance against projectile attacks.
      • Draining of dark energy spells.
      • Moderately skilled swordsman.
      • High Charisma.
    • Negative Abilities:
      • Weak against crushing, smashing, nature-based attacks and healing spells.
      • Physically weak.
    • Powers:
      • Gregory can use his writing to inspire a variety of emotions in beings.
    • Equipment:
  • Personality: Gregory has always been a calm and thoughtful character and his undeath didn't change much about that. In contrast to most other undead he is good at heart, loving his cats and fighting for the rights of the undead. Living a relatively quiet life, he enjoys his profession as an author, having taken up the pen name of "The Broken Bone" and writing mostly about the acceptance and tolerance of undead throughout the kingdom. In his free time, he likes collecting various oddities and curiosities and putting them on display in his tomb in another graveyard (not the one behind the chapel).

Whee~

  • Name: Ruthenium Cygnus, although most tend to just call him "Ruth" because they think it suits him better.
  • Race: Human
  • Class: Warrior. Specifically, he's a knight.
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Gender: Male. No, honest.
  • Appearance: He swears it's a kilt, not a skirt.* Better picture by someone else, although it also includes him in his underwear, um... So yeah, caution and all. XD Note that he's kind of short, especially for a guy his age.
  • Abilities, Powers, and Equipment: As a knight, Ruth is a pretty good fighter. He's not possessed of any legendary combat skill or anything, but he's good enough to hold his own against mooks and some of the weaker monsters. He doesn't possess much in the way of magical ability, nor does he have any supernatural strengths. He's just a regular human, with all the averageness and potential that comes with being one. One thing that is not average, however, is his axe. An ancestral weapon named Trauerschwan, Ruth is at least aware that it is magical, and provides him with some degree of protection from hostile magic and mental interference, as well as possessing a blade that shall never dull nor break. What he doesn't know, however, is that Trauerschwan is a cursed weapon, and all those who wield it shall know great misfortune. To put it simply, Ruth's luck is absolutely abysmal, although this brings up his final, strongest trait; no matter how much misfortune he faces, no matter how tough things seems to get and how much it hurts to go on, once he has set his mind to something Ruth will just never give up, his determination proving to be more powerful than any curse could ever be.
  • Personality: Meek, timid and a little bit of a coward, despite supposedly being a knight. Ruth is by far the manliest man ever, even if his appearance is ignored. However, he is truly good at heart, and wants to prove his worth as a knight because he believes in the ideals of truth, justice and the inherent good in all people. Except himself, since he's kind of insecure. He could be a great knight one day, if only he could just believe in himself...
  • Other: Ruth is an 18 year old knight errant, off on a quest to prove his worth by accomplishing a noble deed such as slaying a great beast or rescuing a damsel in distress. Unfortunately... Due to his timid nature and his overwhelmingly bad luck, he has yet to achieve this goal.

The fairy attributes got really weird in both positive and negative, so if anyone can think of something that makes a bit more sense it is appreciated. Also, suggestions for the best way to operate the chaos magic (what is currently in my mind is just choosing myself and being careful as to power).

  • Name: Tywyll
  • Race: Fairy (a mixture of The Fair Folk and the modern lighter type)
  • Class: Gambler
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Gender: Male, although Fae gender is much less significant than human gender.
  • Appearance: Tywyll is a tall and thin figure that resembles a slightly warped human in shape. His skin is a deep grey and his eyes a solid yellow which faintly glows. There are thin wisps of white hair emerging from the top of his hair and his chin, his teeth are sharp and like a beast's and his hands end in long clawed fingers. Two wings sprout from his back, which to some degree resemble those of a moth and are a light grey. He wears a large black cloak with a hood which constantly covers his face, concealing his identity and his more noticeable fae features, his wings curling around his back. If one looks hard or close enough, the glow of his eyes can be seen to peer out from the dark of his hood. On top of the cloak are several bags and pouches, carrying varied miscellanea he acquires and his few proper possessions, as well as two talismans with eye symbols, which seem to have luck-based power.
  • Abilities, Powers, and Equipment:
    • Fairy Abilities:
      • Flight: With proper wing movement possible, able to fly though the air.
      • Stable Vision: Sight is in no way impaired by light level, movement or any similar factor.
      • Agility: Naturally light and fast, allowing swift and controlled movement.
      • "Shadowdancing": Able to blend into shadows and move much faster within them, as well as the lights of their eyes going out.
      • Mischief Magic: Fairies are capable of learning magic based on trickery and chaos.
      • Nature Affinity: Even those fairies who aren't druids are more attuned with nature, being able to easily identify plants and animals and having some resistance to natural poisons.
      • Ageless: Naturally has a life span of centuries at the least if not affected by outside means, and can live longer. Tend to forget own ages.
    • Fairy Weaknesses:
      • Frail: Physically very weak.
      • Chaotic Mana: Attempting normal magic will result in random levels of success and other attributes being added uncontrollably.
      • Flesh Hunger: Sustenance can only be gained by consuming flesh of living animals.
      • Light Body: While advantageous in some respects, a very low weight means that it is much easier to be knocked around and physical force is much weaker than most other beings.
      • Moonlight Thirst: Becomes much weaker if not regularly exposed to moonlight.
      • Iron: Naturally weak to iron substances, with the weakness scaling with the purity of the metal.
      • Hearths: Fae are naturally deterred by the symbolism of the hearth, the fire representing the home. While it is psychosomatic, the presence of a hearth naturally causes a sickening feeling and reduces magic ability. This is reversed, however, if the fairy in question is part of the group the hearth belongs to, although the effect is still only psychosomatic.
      • Bells: Bells can be used to hurt fairies, but doing so requires correct usage and needs practise.
    • Fairy/Gambler Magic:
      • Imbue: Randomly applies an attribute to a small object on touching it, such as fire, frost or exploding.
      • Chaos Sphere: Fires off a sphere with a random attribute.
      • Chaos Beam: Fires a beam with a random attribute.
      • Will o' the Wisp: Summons an orb of flickering light that travels away from paths.
      • False Sights: Creates an illusion, some attributes of which can't be controlled.
      • Whispers: Surrounds a target with disembodied whispers. While most won't be able to make them out, somebody with superior hearing may be able to, revealing that the actual words are just random. If used against a fairy, a bell may be heard instead of a voice.
      • Flutter: Requires a lot of effort and teleports to a place in sight, although a random one.
    • Equipment:
      • Bell: Tywyll caries a bell, for use against other fae.
      • Throwing Knives: He caries 9 knives which he throws when his magic's random nature is too risky.
  • Personality: Tywyll is very much neutral, seeming to do very little for the cause of good or evil unless it helps or amuses him, and has a weird sense of both. He spends much of his life either in forests waiting for travellers and deciding on a whim whether to help or hinder them, sometimes even joining them, or in taverns gambling money and telling tales. Quite fond of mischeif, but is more tame in it then some of his race.
  • Other: Generally separate from the societies of fae as he doesn't see the appeal in the more dark and evil acts the worse of them commit, although he maintains fairly friendly relationships with some of the good and neutral fae.

Let's do it then.

  • Name: Genn Black Crest
  • Race: Gnoll(basically, a cross between man and wolf/hyena)
  • Class: Warrior
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral.
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: A hulk of a gnoll, Genn is a giant black-furred being with blood red eyes and rather intimidating canine teeth. He has a tendency to bare them in a growl when sufficiently angered. He's got a number of bruises, although the only ones visible are those on his snout and left cheek. A proud owner of an impressive black mane, formed into a ponytail. Since the colors of his fur and crest appear similar though, they appear as one and the same to all but keenest of eyes. He is clad neck to toe in reddish plate armor, adorned with a similarly-colored hip-length cape.
  • Abilities, Powers and Equipment: Thanks to his canine background, Genn's sense of smell is truly exceptional and lets him pick up someone's fragrance just like a wolf would catch it. His other senses are slightly above-average those of an average human(higher than an average Joe, but lower than a Ranger). Other than that, he makes great use of his bulk, armor and strength, being quite literally a brick wall that simply shrugs off minor hits to take notice of them later on. Armed with a giant war hammer he maybe is not too mobile, but all he usually needs is a single hit. He is not above using dirty tricks in a fight as well and will use every opportunity to get an upper hand.
  • Personality: Genn leads his life with a use of a strange code of honor that - as he says - is common back in his place. It is not above acts such as murder, theft and blackmail, but it also values loyalty above all else. If he was to jump in the fire to rescue a companion, he would do so without batting an eye. It might be hard to earn his trust, since he is rather cautious by nature, but if you do, you will have a powerful ally that will not abandon you no matter what. Not quite a speaking person, but by no means dumb(albeit relatively single-minded once he picks an objective). Values good company, good liquors and good women, although he prefers to keep everything in a healthy limit in order not to go overboard.
  • Other: Genn is a walking man, having wandered from his faraway homeland - far, far in the North - all the way to the Kingdom of King Phillip. He stopped in Northglen to rest and perhaps find a job to earn some coin and get supplies for any further travels. He's been staying in The Wolf's Paw for a few days now, thinking of simply picking up his trusty hammer and those few things he had with himself and going away. Then again, staying one more day might not hurt...

Actualy no. I jus don't see why other alignments wouldn't develop their own equivalent. The creators of the original D&D were hopelessly biased in favore of Lawful Good. Doesn't really matter to me though since if I play it won't be as a palidin, although I am considering being a monk.

hmm...thinking of making some kind of Intrepid Merchant, though not sure if rogue, gambler or something else would fit best for class.

Either that or a rogue or bard with the ability to alter his appearance, but only within the human range/range for his race.
