TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

I have to disagree with entirely retitling transsexual. I agree it should be changed to transgender, but if you do, there should still be reference to transsexual. Remember, this is a Useful Note and the fact that transsexual was the more common term (especially in media) is precisely the kind of thing these pages are for. Omitting it entirely is doing us a disservice.

Intersex is medically a supertrope to Hermaphrodite, but if storytelling uses only the extreme form (i.e hermaphrodite) then it will need to stay as a redirect. Justified versions of Barbie Doll Anatomy may also fall under Intersex.

Would making Intersex a disambig page directing people to Hermaphrodite and Barbie Doll Anatomy be appropriate? I guess that's more a question for ATT, but since we're talking about it...

And I agree with but I'd also like to stress that LGBT Community (or whatever it's name ends up as) ought to be written for the ignorant (in the neutral sense of the word) writers who are trying to learn about this subject. (This was one reason I suggested in the draft to include information about the homosexual, etc., people who avoid identifying as "LGBT.")

...on Facebook, and she's posted some pretty informative and some pretty aggravated pieces, from articles to memes, about lumping bisexual and asexual together. I've also had some interesting discussions with her.

Putting Ally and Asexual under the same A category isn't considered the best solution, but tolerated.

Putting Bi and Ace in the same category AT ALL... fast track to pissing a LOT of people off. They're just not comparable.

Fresh in my memory is a comment thread I read yesterday on an Ask a Manager letter. And, well, that page hits a lot of points the LBTGA and more people in that thread mentioned having issues with, especially in the "pretending to be friendly... but really not" category.

And that page just generally makes my stomach hurt. For me, a gut reaction of 'wrong' like this, is usually accurate.

YMMV.Loaded may need a look it has one entry - Strawman Has a Point - and it doesn't seem a strawman in the work, instead a third party complaint about the work itself. I could be wrong, I have not read the work in question.

That seems to be ROCEJ-breaking (implying that lad-mags say the same things as rapists) and a general example ("mindset engendered by lad-mags"). For that reason, I'll add it to the cutlist.

Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction has no tropes examples and was last edited on 25th of April; probably could have added something myself but I didn't read it. Creator messaged.

I have added the minimum tropes number based off surface level knowledge Google gave me. Can't guarantee I will continue to add more to it tho.

The characters page is also an unindexed stub. Creator messaged; if it's not de-stubbed by Monday, I'm cutlisting it. Since it's been unedited since August... I don't have high hopes.

Characters.Crusader Kings was launched in January of his year but has a host of problems. I've sent the troper who made it a stub notifier, but I'm bringing the page here because it's got so many problems; never minds the ZC Es, most of the listed characters have neither tropes nor a description and those descriptions that are there are copy-pasted from the game. It's also not indexed.

I'm thinking that whatever useful content there is on that page can be safely integrated into the main work page and the characters page cut. Assigning tropes to specific characters in that game seems tenuous, as only a few don't have randomly generated traits (of thousands that inhabit the game) and those traits that can be associated with tropes are already present on the main work page.

But I'd wait a couple of days and see if the trope who made the page has anything to say about it, they've been editing until yesterday so should be around.

Crazy/Beautiful only has a short description consisting of two sentences.

That one was just created, so you should message the creator.

Can anyone take a hard look at Public Hater, Private Fan? Someone apparently launched it without giving any comment whatsoever. A TRS thread should be started if there's a problem with that trope.

UsefulNotes.William Tecumseh Sherman was recently created without much information and badly formatted troping of a real life person (some to non-existent tropes)

Insufficient information on the guy, UN pages don't get tropes, and the tropes aren't wiki worded.

I can see a UN page on Sherman, just not that one.

A Father to His Men is an existing trope, though.

OK, so

• Circular Waterfall was launched despite a lot of comments in TLP asking for a better name, all of which the sponsor ignored ~Leporidae
• Pain To The Assneedshats because some idiot didn't change the title when launching (also was asking for hats, but I'll get mad at that another time) and, worse, it's a painfully badly written page for something that isn't much of a trope. ~triton
• and both Adaptational Nice Guy and Adaptational Jerkass just got launched. Polar opposites that basically entirely comprise the good old Adaptational Personality Change trope. And, it's not the first time we've had issues with the troper. ~Night Shade 96

Okay, so will the tropes have to be taken back to YKTTW? Or deleted?

I'm not interested in causing any more trouble than I already have.

there's usually a conversation about it. In my opinion, they're both redundant: there's really only two ways that an Adaptational Personality Change can go - jerk to nice and vice versa, and for situations that play with that there are other tropes as well.

"Personality" isn't just "nice" or "jerk". The whole Characterization Tropes can attest to that.

@ 5069 — Re: Circular Waterfall: Linking to the TLP page here for ease of access. There was 1 (one) comment suggesting "..perhaps the trope currently known as Waterfall into the Abyss should be renamed (something like Waterfall From A Floating Island?), because Waterfall Into The Abyss is a much better title for this trope," and 1 (one) comment stating "Yeah, the title made me think of something different." There were then 3 (three) suggested names, none of which received support. That's hardly "a lot of comments".

It;s five comments about the name out of 22 total, 3 of which were simply adding examples, so 18 comments about the condition of the trope. . That's over a quarter of the comments suggesting that the name wasn't great. Not something to just shrug off.
