...I am familiar with both memes used in that post, and I am still somehow unable to make sense of it.

Um... Kaiser, Marq, am I allowed to refer to you as my sempais in the author's notes section of SCE's latest chapter?

I'm asking because I had nothing to write for this chapter's A/N section, so instead I'm going to put in a summary of how the story's concept evolved before reaching its current version. The two of you would be mentioned in the context of me still holding on to the original unedited chapters for the previous version, despite them being obsolete and me having none of the notes from the preliminary concepts.

I have no objections, though I personally find it funny that you think of me as such when I have little practical writing experience. Perhaps you should mention in a half-jesting manner that I am strictly "majored in theoretical fanfictology"?

Also, I'm thinking of a plot bunny where Shinji, Rei and Asuka get trapped in a lockdown and get COMPs.

@EVA Unit 01: Since manga Kaworu killed a kitten and Dio killed Danny, I thought it would have fit. Also, I think it would be funny to see treat the EVA human cast like Dio treated Jonathon. [[Deconstruction Or not.]]

Maybe in an AU where Kaworu recognizes that Lilith won Earth fair and square but decides to break everyone and make them lose morale so that his children can win.

So, regarding my JJBA/NGE crossover... what kind of setting do you think I should go for?

Anime/Manga/Rebuild sort of timeline, where the Angel War's still raging?

Highschool AU (Angelic Days, Raising Project) gone wrong?

Somewhere in-between (Campus Apocalypse)? (Campus Apocalypse pretty much sums up the general tone of the fic that I'll be going for, but I specify it separately because it's an AU of the Angel War adapted into a Persona-like context)

I'd recommend the campus apocalypse with Shinji, Rei and Asuka teaming up with Toji, Kensuke and Hikari to escape and master their Stands.

Soooo let me ponder.

If I go with a CA-type of setting, then that's basically "the Angel War, translated over to a non-Super Robot type of context". Campus Apocalypse basically went Persona-style. Since I'm doing a JJBA story, that's actually not too bad of an idea.

Here's a loose idea of the plot:

Shinji Ikari wakes up in a dingy back alley with a girl he doesn't recognize (Mana Kirishima, doing her "get close to the male EVA pilot to seduce secrets out of him and then accidentally fall in love with him for realz" thing from the VN), both of them in varying states of undress, and he has no idea how the hell he got there. He freaks out, she claims to be his wife by an arranged marriage.

Before the conversation can proceed any further, the duo is attacked by an enemy Stand user calling himself "Sachiel" (Stand: Rock You Like A Hurricane). Shinji barely manages to get himself and Mana out of there with both of their lives intact. Mana has a Stand, but she severely downplays its abilities (because it's kinda messed up even by SBR standards), before explaining most everything else about the general concept of Stands... and then telling him that in addition to the mysterious someone is running around Tokyo-3 wantonly creating Stand users - and that's separate from the especially bizarre Stand Users that have chosen to rename themselves after Judeo-Christian Angels.

The main plot focuses on the investigation into the person going around and creating Stand Users, with Mari Makinami basically being the fic's Akira Otoishi - in the sense of being a "Disc One main villain" to get initial tension and stuff, before the story eventually transitions to an unrelated greater threat. Interspersed throughout the investigation are the nihilistic and overwhelmingly powerful Angelic Stand Users, who are on the warpath toward the Tokyo-3 branch of the Speedwagon Foundation in order to obtain the treasure that exists at its bottom level: the Ultimate Life Form, Kars, in a bid to somehow gain control over his unthinking body and use his phenomenal powers to Kill All Humans.

Additionally, when Shinji obtained his Stand, his body sent out a psychic distress signal, similar to how Jonathan's body awakened Stands in his descendants when DIO obtained The World - meaning that Rei (due to having Yui Ikari's blood in her) and Gendo (oh god damn it) also begin to develop Stands. Gendo is, of course, the final villain of the piece, whose plan is to obtain the Stand-granting Arrow and upgrade his Stand into Original Sin Requiem, and basically achieve what amounts to Time Compression - instead of an Instrumentality of humans' bodys/souls, he seeks to obtain an Instrumentality of space and time.

Y'all's thoughts?

Like what?

Kill All Humans was the closest analogue to the canonical hypothetical Third Impact according to the Angels (that is, Complementation) that I could think of on short notice.

Like, transform themselves into ultimate beings, with no regard to what happens to others?

Like, resurrect a dead (or just comatose) shared relative they all value? Could be someone not related by blood, but in spirit.

Like, force every government in the world to officially recognize their status as ultimate badasses worthy of all respect (and all the food and women, while we're at it)?

I don't think it should be necessarily the exact same scenario as in canon. Those Angels weren't humans, so for humans to have a same goal wouldn't make much sense. You could, however, interpret the canon goal differently, like "become reunited with their progenitor", or "claim the Earth as theirs", or "become ultimate beings".

I don't believe that there is a way for humans to become Ultimate Beings (at least, not in the sense that Kars is), unless they have some kind of mind/soul/consciousness transfer ability and use it to hijack his body. ...which, given Silver Chariot Requiem and Whitesnake, is actually probably a feasible thing canonically.

...A bunch of pretentious punk hedonists plotting to Take Over the World could work, though.

Especially since I feel that a lot of the Angelic Stand Users should have straightforward but super-powerful abilities, to contrast with so many other Stands being reliant on Heart Is an Awesome Power.

It occurs to me that using all 14 Angels would be A Bad Idea.

If they're human beings, then I don't think there's a feasible way to really maintain the Monster of the Week-type thing that have going on once they start getting whacked, not to mention that coming up with that many distinct characterizations and Stands for effective bit roles is just too much effort.

I'm already kind of sold on Sachiel with RYLAH, and he's always been one of my favorite Angels anyway. Beyond that, Zeruel, Arael, and Tabris are also obligatory musts...

If I go with a Six-Bad Band, then that only leaves two open slots....

..actually, let's make it seven. It neatly halves the original number of Angels, and still gives me good potential for variety in Stands and characterizations.

You guys have your preferences for the last three Angels?

Just for the record, tentative plans have Zeruel as The Brute, Arael as something like The Dark Chick and a total Sense Freak, and Tabris is still The Philosopher.

I always saw Arael as The Evil Genius, since her attacks deal with psychic damage.

Bardiel would be more of a Sixth Ranger Traitor.

Sachiel's the Starter Villain, Zeruel's The Brute, Arael's The Dark Chick, Tabris's a borderline Token Good Teammate and The Leader.

Shamshel might be a candidate for The Evil Genius and The Dragon.

Light question: can you guys think of any excuse for why a Wunder-style spaceship have a launch catapult for Evas? I mean, the Evas could just simply step off the side.

Would it be an acceptable excuse that the catapult is intended to launch the Eva far enough away from the ship that the Eva can fire its engines without the Eva's thruster exhaust singing the ship's armor? Said exhaust is multi-thousand degree plasma fresh out of a nuclear fusion reaction, after all.
