Nuclear, it has 600 wicks. You need to check more than 21 to get a sample size that's anywhere near representative. Do 30 more. It still won't even be 10% of them, but 21 is simply too few.

Unwritten Game Rules?
A rename would work but for all those who are misusing it there is a trope there and we should have a page for it, just not this page.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comI thought this was an established term among gamers, similar to Munchkin.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. To my knowledge, this is an established term.
Unfortunately, the term is often used to flame groups of people or misused to refer to anyone who enjoys competitive gaming.
Both the ideas for other names don't really work. Scrubs work by unwritten game rules too, and "games are serious business" sounds like a complaint about any kind of competitive gaming instead of a term about attitude.
EDIT: Also, there's two threads about this on the front page.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.This is an established term. In function of the concept the term refers to, this name is clear and concise. I didn't take a deep look at the sampling above, but some of them didn't look like serious misuse rather looking like accidental one (SHFG is not necessarily related to multiplayer, for example, it's about attitude). We already have Stop Having Fun as a practical redirect on the term (although it could fall to "durr hurr it reads like dialogue"). I don't see this meriting a rename.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Stop Having Fun Should probably be deleted, as it seems to be encouraging the horrible misuse.
It's an established term, and it's about a player mentality, not a ruleset, so Gaming Is Serious Business is a horrible name.
Russell... likes to hurt people... for PEACE.Wait a second, it's not very useful to just state that a term is well established; instead, can we see some actual evidence that it is?
Because if anything, google shows that it's not a well established term, outside of the XKCD fandom and this wiki here. For reference, 47000 hits for "stop having fun guys" and 7,000,000 for "scrub +gamer". That's not even in the same ballpark.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Dude, you just confirmed it is an established term, just where you don't care looking at (also, how xkcd? I thought it was a spur-of-the-moment thing there only, and spread out afterwards). If it is spreading and gaining acceptance slowly, or if it is not as widely used relative to the combination of two random words that can, statistically and semantically, appear together much easier, that's not a matter of the term being bad or something.
Also, if you are addressing videogames, your search is horribly skewed. A quick actual review of the results shows that most of the time, the term is used as a title for forum threads, as a tagging for discussions or as a call out. Besides, due to context, once those terms have been set up (usually to establish the theme or subject) they are unlikely to repeat as commonly as flamebait shorthands or comparisons like "munchkin" or "scrub" are. Have you tried, say, googling the acronym?

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Does anyone have anything to add for this? There's no consensus to rename but a wick cleanup might be in order.
I don't understand how that discredits the search results. The combination of "stop having fun guys" and "gamer" is not random, it's a reasonable association and a sensible filter, given we're applying it to both "stop having fun guys" and "scrub". If the term was as well known as "scrub" we'd expect roughly similar numbers. Instead we're looking at a couple of orders of magnitude less. I get similar results with "game".
We've still got no evidence for it being a common term. When I search for the acronym I find more evidence for it not having that much currency. The top entry is for Society for History in the Federal Government. The second entry is us. We're the only site using the acronym that way in the first dozen pages.
The case for a rename seems reasonable. We've got misuse related to the title (e.g. taking it literally). It's apparently not nearly as widely used as the other gamer-jargon terms we've used as titles. And while it's not totally opaque, it could do more in terms of saying what it means.

"Fan-Established Game Rules"?
^ Doesn't work. The trope isn't about the rules, it isn't about the rulesetting, and it isn't about rigidity in any form. It's about a type of player - haughty, dismissive, assured in their own superiority and condescending to anyone who doesn't play like them - essentially the Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy set to video gaming.
Anyone who uses it in the form of "these are rules I don't agree with" is misusing it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.
Right, its about the person who comes stomping in and, while not actually saying it, says "STOP HAVING FUN DAMMIT"
This sort of thing shows up in more than just gaming, though its very common in discussions about gaming.
I'd kind of like to just kill this "trope". It's an audience reaction that had to have an example sectionectomy. Clearly it's just asking for trouble.
Belief or disbelief rests with you.bump
yes i agree.
It's an Audience Reaction - unless we start doing a wide-scale purge of them from the site or it has irredeemable wick-misuse, we don't really have good justification to cut. Decide what if anything is going to be done about the wicks so this can be resolved and closed.
The first thing that needs to be done is custom title it to "Stop Having Fun" Guy. It's barely a band-aid, but it will help. Anyone against that?
Nope. I think that would help a fair bit. Adding the punctuation fixes the issue that people are having of seeing it as 'Stop Having Fun, Guy!'
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIs the trope in question really a strictly Gaming trope? I've seen examples in other hobbies, take automobile enthusiasts.
You're interested in this sports-car because it has comfortable suspension and an automatic transmission option? Stop Having Fun!
You like that car because of it's lap-time on that hopped-up motorcross track on Top Gear? Stop Having Fun!
You could afford a 911 GT 3 but you've never taken it out on a track-day? Stop Having Fun!
Basically, I see 'Stop having fun' guy as that guy who pulls the 'More Enthusiast than Thou' card on anyone who values subjective factors over objective performance in any hobby endeavors. This goes for the guys complaining about your Role-Playing-centric build in World Of Warcraft as well as the guys complaining about you claiming to like cars and not owning one with rear-wheel-drive and a manual transmission.
No, it isn't by itself a strictly gaming trope - as people like that come up everywhere - but that's where it comes up most strongly.
It's also not mainly an Audience Reaction, because it describes a kind of person. If anything, it's a Character Trope detailing a kind of fandom, and thus it's more or less a Fandom Trope.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
Okay, I tried to rename this a while ago and showed no proof of the horrible misuse. I will show it now. Read post three.
Most of this comes from it's awful name. I would suggest using something like Gaming Is Serious Business to be clear.
