Ah yes, the French Canadians. Over here they're known for translating movies very thoroughly, with sometimes ridiculous results.
That rivalry also ended 100 years ago, no ? And we've always been good friends with the Americans...
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreIf you want to be more accurate, France was once a patchwork of kingdoms (of which a small archipelago now known as the British Isles was just one) which various dynasties battled, bargained and bitched over. Eventually one such dynasty (named after a piece of foliage which got caught in someone's coat) got stuck with the islands and lost the means to conquer any territory on the mainland.
Then some other stuff happened.
Disclaimer: I'm not very good at history.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerEven in actual France, speaking English is gonna get you sneered at.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."If you are not being sarcastic, then I have news for you...America would completely disagree with that.
Like granted, France is basically the reason America is independent in the first place but nobody in the US will ever acknowledge that.
I have to return some videotapes. My WallAmerica has friends? I thought we just had "allies" that tolerate us because they have to.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Aetol - well, it hasn't quite ended because beating France is still considered to be a joy in the Rugby World Cup, and seeing Italy beat France is something every person will cheer for...
... then there's how often companies like Alcatel get turned down even if their stuff is better than Cisco's stuff, out of pure snobbery...

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I get a lot of chuckles from the True Art self demonstration page. I also really like one paragraph from the Sonic 2 Special Edition page.
"That is hard to argue or agree with." ~PennyThe revised one is just as good:
It's also because of an ancient rivalry which started about 1000 years ago, with parts of France being under their own king and others being under the control of an English king, who often spoke French and not English.
