In an alternate Earth, North Korea managed to develop high tech (nukes, mechs, lasers/plasma) in secret. Then they demonstrate their power to the world by launching a nuke over the sea to Japan... which lands in a forest that's haunted by Yokai.

Of course, the Yokai are NOT happy with North Korea for blowing up one of their sacred forests and killing a lot of them, while the Japenese Government isn't happy because North Korea nuked Japan without provocation. Thus, both of them cooperate temporarily to destroy NK's forces.

Cue The Magic Versus Technology War that pits the supernatural Yōkai (and some of Japan's army) against North Korean hi-tech.

(Yeah, this one was originally from my "What's the oddest story/idea you had")

[up] I made something similar with a Expy of Imperial Japan, just witouth the Youkai and more with special weapons. I [tup] the concept.

I write about a expy of Superman fighting against The Imperial Japan with Magic. Is the most weird and epic thing who i´ve write.

Well, is a sort of prequel my other story, setting years before. Like fifty years before, in the equivalent of 1950. Brave City and his allies cities and invaded for the Empire of Viska (Imperial Japon WITH MAGIC AND PSYCHIC POWERS!) who try to Take Over the World because is the right of The "Sun King", his loved Evil Overlord.

The war is way more destructive to Brave City and when is invaded all seems lost...but a man came from the sky, destroy the weapons and beat out the enemy soldiers. That man is a user of a strange power called PSI Weapon but with a peculiarity, his PSI Weapon...is his own body. He don´t need use the normal process to active his powers, he is always in mode to a fight. He is superior to all the other users, he has a lot of powers who made him a A-rank user in less to one day. He is a Superman. He is terryfing to others...but the mysterious man just smile, is a Gentle Giant and say a few words who change the course of the war: I want join to the army.

And the story show the story of the man and how he choose join the army to stop the invation of Visva. He was a kid who was founded by a millitar general in a sort of capsule. Said millitar raised him not like a soldier but like a normal child. The millitar a really good man, eventually said child choose Walking Around The Earth like a freelancer periodist and them the Invation of Visva start. He see how Visva, a awful dictatorship start his genocide and when he try to stop the madness with a fight against the generals..he was stopped, Visva has many powerful PSI weapons users. And when thank of the help of some people our Hero get into the chamber of the king, he discover who the king is...a bit more than human. A Human with a fake body, decadent but powerful. And said King beat out the crap of our poor Hero.

Then he manages to run and back to Brave city. And he now with knowledge of the horrors who suffer the people in Visva try to stop The Sun King and his council. He made a group named AEON and they lead the army to stop the invation...and was hard, really hard.

Some heroes die, many villains die and the brutality of Visva is show. Eventually the army start to become more desesperate and take more extreme messures. AEON try to stop it but is hard.

Eventually Visva fall after the death of the Sun King and our heroes can live happily...and have a long time fighting against the PTSD.

The world is a better place. The End. For now.

Thinking of calling mine "A Once Brave Warrior". Takes place in an old fantasy-ish setting, and it basically makes fun of D&D style quest stories. A villager encounters a fallen warrior in a tavern binging in sorrow. He tells of a great quest that he recently embarked on, and the story begins. (It'll bounce back and forth between the quest and what all the characters do after, but for the sake of discussion I won't do that here.)

The Quest: A thief in the Kingdom meets a young girl whom he takes a liking to. She doesn't appear to be from around here so he shows her around town and buys her a few drinks. Later in the day they are chased down by a knight, who grabs the girl by the arm. She is the princess, and she has snuck out once again. The knight is her bodyguard. In a last ditch effort to avoid punishment for her deeds, she explains that she was kidnapped by the thief. The knight arrests the thief then and there. However, as they are riding off in the royal carriage, the thief attempts to escape and jumps off. Not five seconds later, a dragon comes and scoops up the princess and kills her bodyguard. The thief has just witnessed the heir to the land get kidnapped by a dragon, and despite her recent betrayal he reluctantly attempts to find her.

It is then that the thief goes to a bar to find some help. He meets the warrior, who has slain entire armies and would have no issue killing a dragon. Looking for a challenge the warrior tags along, but not before a lieutenant knight sees them and notices they are both wanted men. They explain his situation and he reports it to his superior, who doesn't believe the knight because of his status. The knight, thief, and warrior go to the knight's grandfather. He is a wizard who has lost his magic touch and is kinda shitty at pretty much everything. In spite of this he tags along and the four go to rescue the princess.

After the quest: This is the bulk of the story. The lieutenant is promoted and pays little attention to his grandfather, who just wants to bond with his grandson. The warrior comes to the realization that he is now old, and bored with his occupation, and goes into his drinking binge (where he tells the story of the quest to the villager). The thief is offered by the King to stay in the castle with the royal family for his deeds. His main goal is to steal as much as he can and leave the kingdom.

The story isn't really a deconstruction, but everything is supposed to be the opposite of what you expect.

•The warrior is sad, lonely, and tired of slaying magical creatures and fighting battles.

•The damsel in distress is a total bitch throughout the story.

•The knight is kind of a dick, and cares more about himself than his honor/nobility. His grandfather the wizard is weak and doesn't help much, and spends most of the time trying in vein to bond with his grandson and be accepted by the people around him in general (magic isn't a common profession in the kingdom and isn't as accepted as you'd think.)

•The thief is the hero, and ends up saving the day after the dragon returns later in the story. He abandons his selfish ideals by the end and he ends up winning over the bitchy damsel instead of the knight,

•On top of all this, the story takes place after the actual quest has occurred.

That's all I have so far.

Ike Hideaki was just an average guy, 19 years old, with no outstanding qualities. He was born in a average family but was the unfavorite as he wasn't performing well academically as his brothers. One day, after returning home late, he lies on his bed thinking about his life, when he heard a voice. "I finally found you" , the voice said. He ignored it and went to sleep, but he wakes up in a completely different environment, in different clothes and in possession of a weird sword. He is transported to another world, with dragons, elves and many other mystical creatures. The world is similar to medieval Europe, but since magic exists, some technology are more primitive. As he searches for a way to return home, he makes friends with several people and starts getting attached to the world. He is actually the reincarnation of a great king 500 years ago in the other world, who united several countries under his empire, but was betrayed by his most trusted friend. To prevent him from reincarnating and overthrow him(reincarnated people will retain their talents, someone who was a skilled pianist would be naturally gifted at playing the piano), the friend banished the soul into our world. The queen, who was a sorceress, dedicated herself to rebuilt the empire, attached her soul to a sword to prevent herself from dying. She made deals with many powerful spirits in the 500 years, and aimed to make the one possessing the king's soul(Ike) onto the throne, whether he likes it or not. The story would be about how Ike accepts the new world as his home and rebuilt the empire so he could stay. The villain would of course be the traitor, who is also attempting to built an empire.

Another weird idea: Senshi Kumakawa is an average bespectacled kid, looking like a nice student and having usually over average notes. He's new at the school and has already brought the attention of a very hyper girl called Yuka Amano, a.k.a. "Yuuyun". He's the perfect target for the bullies in his school, which happens a lot. He's also the one who gets in the middle of some of the weird stuff that happens in his town. He's basically a nerd...

Except he's not.

He's just a kid who happens to need thick glasses after he caused himself irreparable damage to his sight while burning a building to the ground. He's actually a teen delinquent, who fakes having bad sight by using fake glasses (not even his parents know and the doctor who "checked" him is an evil scientist in leagues with him for the sake of mayhem) and hides under a wig his white hair dye. Under the alias of Sigma, he goes around causing havoc around the town...

When he's not confused with a prince, obviously.

In his first time as Sigma in the new town, he gets in at least 5 magical adventures that happen below the radar of the townspeople and in all of them he's identified as a legendary prince (and the name Sigma doesn't help at all). With his beloved persona in risk, he has to fix this identity mess...

Except it happens the legends are fake.

The legends, as well as the "Dream Devices" that fuel the magical things in town were made by a crazy alchemist looking for the ultimate power, who plays both as the city's mayor and secretly appears works for the Darkness, which is another creation of his. Sigma also realizes the man is trying to get rid of him because his appearance would ruin it all. He must now choose between being Sigma and risk his neck or getting rid of Sigma and return to his old life...

And it takes him only 5 seconds to say "screw that guy" and call his scientist friend that Sigma needs an overhaul. The scientist gives him a sword that can generate dimension waves, capable of distort magic and even create an entire dimension where he can attach in the way he wants.

It will be a parody of several magical girls, replacing the love interest with a kid with several felonies under his belt. So, let the zone crash begin!

An RPG Mechanic where the main character starts the game by himself. As he levels up and goes through certain parts of the game-either scripted or optional-he has two choices:

1. To rescue and recruit a possible party member/members for their overall team.

2. Leave the possible party member/members to die and, instead, focus on getting their power/weapon for themselves.

Looking at the above, the obvious choice might be the second option. But doing one leaves you at a disadvantage of not having the other.

Doing the second option would give you more overall power, but would also leave you heavily out-numbered by the swarms of enemies-enemies that get stronger in response to your own strength, keeping them as a still viable threat. It also keeps you from doing other side quests to get other upgrades or going to certain towns since they'll label you as a monster.

Doing the first option makes you weaker individually, gives you more party members to help you. The drawback, aside from being less powerful on your own, is needing to spend more money to keep the party alive and less on buying gear for yourself. You, the main character, can die and be resurrected multiple times. But your teammates die once-without some kind of Revival Item on the spot the moment they die, they're gone forever and you lose your chance to get their power/weapon beforehand. But, along with another teammate, you can also go on branching paths and take side quests you can't take alone, as well as be welcomed in all towns if you take this path.

The Church of Deoth, following the teachings outlined by the God it serves, has come to Elderenn (homeland of the elves), and attempts to spread the words of Deoth while simultaneously doing good works there. However, Elderenn is such a corrupt place that before long, the church finds the evils of the place seeping into it and causing its priests to become complacent. The church, wanting to stop the spread of evil at the root, establishes an Inquisition to purge the evils from its ranks.

At this time, two young priests are sent from their homeland of Tarsia to Elderenn. One becomes the pastor of a local parish, the other is drafted into the Inquisition. Both priests are Wide Eyed Idealists, at least at first. But as his career drags him from one mishap to another, the young inquisitor finds himself falling into despair, until he breaks completely.

Meanwhile, the king and recently-elected prime minister of Elderenn are plotting to destroy the church, while simultaneously launching an assault upon their enemies (the dwarves, Redariam, and Tarsi). The king instructs the prime minister to find expose some dirty secret of the church, which would legitimize an attack. The prime minister soon finds the despairing inquisitor, and investigates him.

The inquisitor, unaware that he is being watched, tosses two elves out of a homeless shelter due to their unethical behaviour. The duo then gather a mob of other homeless folk, and they attack the shelter. The inquisitor defends the place, but believes the situation has passed the Godzilla Threshold, and unleashes his full power, eliminating the elves from existence. The prime minister, witnessing the event, records it on his smartphone and has the video sent across all social media. It quickly goes viral. Within hours, the elves launch an all-out assault upon the church all throughout Elderenn.

The king and prime minister prove well-prepared for their war; they are equipped with an array of secret weapons: an Airborne Aircraft Carrier and a demon in human form known as a Seeker, that is specifically designed to kill priests. The survivors of the attack are forced to flee for their lives, only to find the elves plowing westward toward the dwarven capital. The situation goes From Bad to Worse, culiminating in a Darkest Hour that leaves thousands dead. There are several plot twists and reveals, and both the inquisitor and his pastor friend find themselves facing death several times.

That's the gist of it. I won't give any more details for fear of spoilers. I've actually gotten the basics written down; I just need to flesh it out (it's less than 200 pages). I've also started working on the sequel...despite the fact that this one is still incomplete tongue I'm so impatient....

This is based off of a dream I recently had. I'm not gonna write it, but it's going here anyway.

Concept: Demon hunters are those who are specifically capable of seeing when a demon or spirit of any kind is possessing something or someone and task themselves with removing these demons/spirit. In the modern age, demons/spirits have mostly come to posses minor things, like house hold objects or food in a super market. Removing this is usually an easy task, but the story would mostly deal with the demon hunters having to deal with the moral issues with removing demons that have possessed animals or people.

That's about it, no real concrete story, but that's what I have.

Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.

[up][up] Is the exorcism process inherently dangerous to the possessee? Is that why there's a moral dilemma?

My own ideas is a play on the trapped in a virtual world scenario of series like Sword Art Online & Log Horizon. My own twist on the concept is that rather than focus on players trying to get back home or otherwise cope with the change, the plot would focus on a group of players with ''no' desire to go back to the real world.

An example would be the character idea that sparked this concept: An individual who chose that particular game precisely because it allowed for Cross Playing, where I've read that SAO systems are eventually made to prevent it and another series has it occur because of a system glitch, and created a female character. Becoming trapped in that female body is, for her, the single greatest thing to happen to her.

Among the moral dilemmas this group would face is what to do when a lead to a way to send everyone back is found. Do they help, much as they don't want to? Stay out of it and enjoy the time they have in the game world in the event others are successful, or actively work to prevent those others from succeeding?

Heh, running around in a body of a different sex could be easier to swallow when it's framed in terms of "it's a video game".

But why would a video game explicitly prevent crossplaying? What's the point of that?

[up]From SAO's trope page:

Cross Player: VRMMORPGs using the NerveGear and Amusphere avert this, as the player's body is scanned into the system to form the avatar (degree of customization varies with each game). SAO's pre-alpha testing found that full immersion and genderswapping didn't really mix comfortably, and that after a significant amount of time logged in, male players began to experience anxiety over the lack of... essential equipment.
On the other hand, from the trope page itself:

However, it also notes that because FIVR games determine gender from a user's brainwaves, Transgender players are likely to be read as their chosen gender instead of their birth sex.

Still, that's just one example. Imagine someone like Subaru in .hack, who was wheelchair bound in real life. Or a furry who can be an animal creature. Or just someone who enjoys the life of adventure in game vs the dreary humdrum of real life.

A Mon Series where the premise is to meet Cute Monster Girls, recruit them for your party, and fight to save the world-or something along those lines. It also doubles as a Dating Simulator, where you can 'date' the Monster Girl. The stronger the relationship you have with them, the stronger the girl becomes. However, you can only have one Monster Girl at the Max level at a time.

In short: The Handmaids Tale meets The War On Terror.

An Alternate History story about the fall of the United States in a world where the Communist won the Cold War.

It would take place in a warrior state in the Rockies: after the collapse of the goverment, the USA were separated in different smaller communist states, with the Rockies region being an exception: they're nominally part of other nations but are a de-facto theocracy (A Christian Fundamentalist sect that blended Mormonism elements along with nativist, xenophobic ideas and philosophies took power) that mirrors Afghanistan under the Taliban regime.

We main plot is the one of a girl that is witness of the days before an USSR invasion after a terrorist attack in Moscow perpretated by Christian Fundamentalists. We see how this affects her life while at the same time we take a closer look at this society and we find out piece by piece more background about this scenario.

I have a rough concept of a story but it's only in early stages.

Basically, there's villain who wants to re-establish the death sentence and show why it is better than life sentence. To do this, he gets a team to break open high-security prisons where murderers and rapists were sentenced to life in, letting them escape to do their crimes again. He comments that even though it's life sentence, they're still alive, and in the rare chance they break free, the law would be back at square one... which is exactly what happens- many of those escaped convicts begin their sprees anew.

This would probably lead to a Vigilante Man group forming, and they hunt murderers/rapists (including the escaped ones) down and kill them graphically in public, videotaping the deaths of their "victims". Their methods are brutal, killing murderers/rapists by slicing them with chainsaws, burning them alive, chopping off their arms/legs, pushing them into a wood chipper, etc. Their reasoning is that in order to remove those from society, they need to be killed as the Life Sentence is no longer effective thanks to the villain's group.

I don't really know what the good guy group should be like, though.

I have a cartoon concept that I've developed quite a bit (I've got like 12 pages of story, both character backstory and the basic premise of a pilot), but I don't quite know how to express it. I wanted to try and put some of the 12 pages on here or something, but there's just way too much that I've typed up and I want to show for review. As such, I'll just try to give a brief summation of some of it, though I would like to PM the full writing of it to anyone willing to see it.

There's an expansive nation called Wisteria, which experiences what is more or less a complete economic crisis that results in political upheaval. A man named Frederick T. Richard rises to power thanks to a coup and causes what amounts to a dictatorship, and creates a military police force that is made super strong thanks to cybernetic implants. Of course, he also goes a bit nuts and has a paranoid dream of six people with different elemental powers (fire, water, earth, air, ice, electricity) and super strength on par with some of his military force, and set out an insane order to kill anyone with those powers (because dictators do a lot of crazy shit). As luck would have it, six such people end up coming around nearly 20 years later (by which point Richard goes into decline but still wields a good deal of power) and end up getting into a brawl with a military woman in a bar in some run down shitty big town, and are now on the run to the west coast, where a rebel group have largely taken up residence and control things. They don't want to get involved in any upcoming revolution or take anyone down, they just want to get safe and stay out of anything, but as this all goes on they realize that they're in a situation where they must absolutely fight.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

(I apologize in advance for spelling errors, as this thing lacks a spell-check.)

So, some scientist fellows managed to develop technology that allows for dimensional travel. Naturally, this stuff winds up in the hands of a few governments, who decide to use it to steal crazy technological crap from other universes and reverse-engineer it to their own ends.

Eventually, these blessed few nations that have this stuff realize that they have a clear and obvious advantage of the rest of the world, so they decide to merge and take over everything else. And wouldn't you know it, it works.

After a lot of war and other crap comes a brief, chaotic phase of backstabbing and intrigue as everyone concerned vies to rule the faction that now controls the world's affairs. Eventually, one guy comes out on top, and thankfully is a pretty nice person.

Several hundred years pass, and then the actual story itself happens. Everything above is just background.

OK, so here's a plot I came up with for a dark, philosophically-infused Mundane Fantastic comedy/drama. I used one of my favourite fictional works, NGE, as the building block for the overreaching plot & themes, while trying to avoid accusations of "rip-off!" Here's what I got so far:

Two people (?; not sure yet), Elliot & Robin, have to save the dream world (name?; also not sure) from...something (again, I'm still in the working stages). They succeed, but later they to save something bigger...the real world. Of course, that's just the High Concept. The actual plot is more detailed than that, it's more about the character's relationships with each other than fighting bad guys, hence why I haven't thought about the plot too much yet.

Robin (a guy), the MC, is a Tragic Hero. He fails at the end due to his insecurities, jerkass behaviour, cynicism, and failure to create truly meaningful relationships with people. Thus, he is all alone by the story's end. (Originally, the ending was supposed to feature him getting married to the girl was dating, but I deemed that unrealistic).

I'd some feedback to see if this concept is a good idea overall. If it is, I'll tell some more elements of the plot, setting, and characters.

Um... hello everyone, I am Emily and I have been wanting to do a cartoon. :) At the urging of my fellow tropers, I have come to the writers block threads in order to gain some insight into being a good writer and to receive feedback on my concept. The concept can be seen by clicking on the link in my signature. It is written as a sort of screenplay or guideline as to how the pilot episode will play out.

Basically, its a sort of "slice-of-life" show about a girl named "Mary" (at least until I finalize a name) who is sort of eccentric and has an active imagination, but she's also sarcastic at times. She lives in the suburbs of the city New Harmony, along with her very conservative and business-y mother and pet spider Jupiter.

Its only a preliminary at this point, so a lot of the minor details haven't been worked out yet. This is just a rough overview of what I have so far.
