[up][up][up] How do we know YOU'RE not a hyper evolved dinosaur?! And does this explain the origins of Godzilla?! Well, either way, this sounds like it'd be a thrilling novel(or comic) to read. I hope you get around to writing it.

I've had the idea of a concept that takes place in a Raygun Gothic future setting with some elements of High Fantasy. It's a setting where science was used to discover 'magic' and the development of science accelerated. Humans has explored the solar systems to it's greatest depths, dubbed the 'Sol System' and are developing relationships with other 'Systems'.

The protagonists are a large group(or at the very least, somewhere between 5-10) who act as vigilante/superheroes/mercenaries who goes from planet to planet on various adventures. The protagonists are often in a rotational shifts, so each character(or group) goes on their own adventures.

So my Wizard of Oz-themed Asian-American gangster script is starting to sound a lot more like a Superhero comic.

I have no idea where else a guy with scene hair, excessive jewelry, tattoos, and a trenchcoat would fit in.

[up]Maybe in an over-the-top drama or dramatization(no offense)? I will admit, this is starting to sound like the setup for a Batman Comic if you subtract the Bat.

Yeah, the Tin Man gangster is intentionally more of an anti-villain than a gangster. He starts the gang specifically to help out minorities—he and his boyfriend got mugged and the boyfriend got shot, but being in Oakland, the police are basically useless. After a suicide attempt where he heads to the Golden Gate Bridge to jump, a passing driver drags him away from the edge and makes him call the bridge's hotline.

Unfortunately his despair is replaced with anger, so he and his friends hunt down the mugger, shoot him, and tag a giant broken-heart plus the name "Tin Man" on the guy's doorway.

Five years later at the start of the story, the Tin Man's gang is known for 1) distractingly fancy outfits that also have glamours put on them, because they're not idiots, 2) not-secretly running a weed farm and loaning the money to people, and 3) being unusually nice and cordial for a gang. Of course, they're infamous for "An Eye For An Eye" retribution and are bitter rivals with another gang, so while they mostly sell weed and loan people money, they're not afraid to shoot someone for crossing them.

My protagonist points out that 1) he really needs therapy, and 2) he could have taken at least two non-gang-oriented ways for getting closure on his old boyfriend's death and helping out his community, but thanks to trauma/bitterness he just snarks that "what, you wanted me to become a superhero? Asians aren't heroes, we're sidekicks or villains."

A large part of the story involves him getting past his issues and becoming an actual hero.

I'd love to read that story when/if it's finished! It looks like you've got most of it all worked out, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Actually, I have my own concept to add. It's pretty heavily inspired by the Eldrazi from MtG, but I think it has enough originality to be a good story on its own.

~~~~~
A world is besieged by huge, terrifying monsters whose forms drive insane anyone who looks at them. They are many and numerous, and the native inhabitants are in danger of being overrun. However, one of the world powers has slain one, and a psychic who can access the minds of dead beings tries to divine their purpose...
...Except it turns out that the terrifying monsters are surprisingly human, almost childlike. They were the true natives of the plane, and after they grew up together there, they traveled the multiverse to find somewhere else habitable to create their progeny and live out their lives. Finding nowhere to their liking, they returned home. Of course, by now the current inhabitants had evolved, thrived, and created empires and nations. They didn't mind though; surely they could coexist in peace. They didn't mean to drive anyone insane, it was just the way their bodies were. They haven't even killed anyone, only indirectly caused death via insanity.
Armed with this knowledge, the psychic must:
A) Convince the world that the monsters mean no harm and are merely returning home,
B) Find a way to talk with the beings and communicate both their apologies for killing one of their siblings and their willingness to live together,
and C) Find a workaround for the insanity problem.
~~~~~

I really like this idea, but I'm nowhere near talented enough to put it into a story (unless it was a oneshot, maybe), so if anyone wants a stab at it, go right ahead.

Ok so this is something of a dream project, but I've constantly found myself trying to get the particulars - like basic premise on concept - before moving on to any actual writing. This is the lastest iteration, but I would like people's opinion first. Hopefully I haven't bordered into the realm of Power Ranger silliness.

In the not too distant future, a structure of seemingly alien design is found deep within the Mariana Trench. Research outpost are built in order to study it; but such attention comes at a price. An immense craft not of Earth crash lands at the site of the structure, and it's passengers make themselves and their intentions known: They're the landlords and the rent is due.

Using a combination of technology and genetic engineering, the aliens create an army of colossal monsters. At first it looked like it was the end, but humanity found a way. Giant war-machines piloted by soldiers thousands of feet away: Exos. Together with a specialized military force, these pilots fight back the alien menace.

...But things may not be so black and white

The idea was to take this concept and to make it into a Live-Action webseries which deconstructed and reconstructed certain aspects of the genre. Another idea was to have a show featuring a combination of People in Rubber Suits and Miniature Effects to act out the fight scenes between the Exos and Monsters.

Again this is just another iteration of an idea im hoping to bring to life a few years down the track (God willing) so I'm curious as to people's opinions. I'm also open to answering questions :)

This story takes place in the Stone Age, I call it "Gifts From the Sky Clan". The story focuses on the founding of fire, how it came to be, and the repercussions of this discovery. The story is a Pre-Historic Cosmic Horror Story, detailing the clan's dealings with these incomprehensible creatures, and what they do with these "gifts" the creatures give them, with fire being the first one they received.

In summary, a tale of tradition versus innovation and evolution, told during the earliest periods of history.

I love that concept! I have a thing for Stone-Age and antiquity settings even though my strong suit is the medieval era, so a prehistoric story about the discovery of fire sounds great!

Well, now that my plot-bunny's growing like a weed:

The country of Jyaruk almost religiously fears the prospect of crossing the Cold Vale on the western border: While it theoretically only takes a couple of weeks to travel (and only a week by boating on the rivers), accounts state that it's so flat and empty that you're basically guaranteed to get lost if you leave the path along the rivers or lose sight of the very few landmarks. In winter, going into the valley is regarded as a death wish, especially with no horse (and desperate people, in folktales, will frequently be stated as "walking into the Cold Vale").

The Cold Vale is a near-mythical place to Jyaruk's people as the legends state that the country's founders came through the Cold Vale 1500 years ago, "from where the rivers cross." But all known attempts to journey north again have failed for numerous reasons.

This changes when a shaman-to-be's ancestors inform her that they actually came through the OTHER place where the rivers cross, from the west along the mountain range.

Of course, several years later when her training is nearly finished, she points out that if they'd talked to people in a more straightforward manner, it would have prevented a lot of needless deaths. They retort that they HAVE been giving the correct directions, but the words for "North" and "West" have become extremely similar and spirits don't often have access to modern maps that might reveal huge geographical shifts over a thousand years. Like, say, that the valley is a full third larger than they remember and that there are now TWO river-crossings instead of the single one that they remember.

And throughout her journey, the shaman has to deal with 1) constantly reconfiguring parts of her ancestors' outdated advice, and 2) how her particular family's ancestors have a huge tendency to sass her when she complains.

I had an idea for an anime type thing (which I hate making, but whatever), and it's kind of devolved over time, the original concept is still kinda good, but it's in a spoiler cause it's actually awful really.

Concept:Our protagonist is a young women, who awakes in a hospital morgue with the only knowledge she has is her first name (which I didn't think of) and that she is undead. Fleeing the hospital, she finds herself a target of both the living and other undead, quickly discovering that she is in control of a powerful energy called Necro Force (I know, it's bad), which allows her to augment herself in various ways at the cost of an intense and uncontrollable desire for the flesh of the living. She eventually finds allies in a group of other undead + monsters as she works to evade her pursuers and find out more about past.

Obviously, I wann avoid a lot of awful anime tropes, but this is never gonna be made, so whatever.

I have an idea for a historical fiction story that take place in the 1890s. A professional thief named Henry attempts to break into Theodore Roosevelt's home by mistake. Obviously Roosevelt hunts him down and captures him. However as he is taking Henry in he becomes more impressed with his intelligence and skill.

He realizes with the proper motivation he could be a great asset to America and his own budding political career. So he makes a deal with Henry, He won't turn him in or kill him but Henry will be forced into the army to learn proper discipline and will help Roosevelt with anything that requires his unique skills.

Tojin: Lol, thanks! I was pretty hesitant to mention the whole "ancestors sassing her" thing, but ultimately I did because the whole "wise ancestors giving wise information in a wise manner" thing is so overdone and ignores the fact that they were people with personalities once. Plus, how many people in anyone's family are exceptionally smart or insightful?

So now my shaman is the Straight Man to her well-intended but slightly crazy (former) family members.

Ok, so I'm at my desk, suffering from writers block (lol) so I decide to look through my notes... When I open up the folder, I find that I have accidentally grabbed my Cartoon collection! You know the one, the folder of cartoon drawings and ideas that everyone keeps at their desk... Right? Right?

Anyway, so I'm looking through my collection, when I stumble apon an old idea I had, so I thought to myself "hey, why don't I work on this old cartoon of mine?" And oh boy what a cartoon this was, even though it's probably my most down-to-Earth story (I have dozens of cartoon ideas in this folder), it still got pretty weird.

Disclaimer, this cartoon was written years ago, back when my ideas were a little less constrained. So apologies if this comes off as a little strange.

The basic plot is centered around a boy (Dan), his sisters (Amy and Sam), their mom ("mom") and the family pet, a pig named Mr. Bacon. After a divorce, "mom" moves her family to the town of New Harmony, however, they soon discover that there's never a normal day in New Harmony!

Characters:

"mom", "mom" works two jobs and isn't at home much, she is only ever shown from the neck down.

Amy and Sam are twins, but they couldn't be any more different, Sam is very outgoing and people oriented, while Amy prefers to spend her time on the "Friendbox" that is so popular with the teens of New Harmony.

Dan is a kind and easygoing, if somewhat eccentric, boy who simply wishes to forget his past and find a brighter future in his new home.

Mr. Bacon may seem like just a typical pig, but do not let that fool you, for he is actually Hambone, Criminal masterswine! A running subplot throughout the series is Hambone's attempts to take over New Harmony, only to be foiled by some unforeseen circumstance.

Note: I am unsure if this is the right place to put this, if it is not, could someone kindly tell me where I should put it? I haven't seen any "your cartoon" type treads around.

The platypus is my spirit animal.

You know the movie Pixels? What had got to my mind is that if I could try to make a Fan Fiction Series in the Pixels universe. However, I being passionate for Gaming thought of writing a Fictional Version of Myself (James Lee Mc Kigney as Himself) who is passionate about the Gaming Scene and Retrogaming in particular.

The role I am playing as in the story is more in the vein of a Legacy Character. As In the Heroic Nerd who is Scatterbrained, grew up with Gaming, Somewhat Competent and will never let cheeky punks and lowdown arses ruin the Gaming Spirit. (Remember Fireblaster using his glasses to cheat? Well Mc Kigney will not stand cheating. "Give me your Glasses!" "Which one Dweeb?" "ALL OF THEM!")

The in-universe reason why I am obsessed with the Gaming Scene? Explained with this expert I wrote right now/ —-

"He crushed my glasses! How did he know I cheat with the codes on them?!" Fireblaster is enraged, fixing to clobber Jim for destroying his glasses. "Wait. I need to tell you why he treats this war seriously." The Commander begins to explain to the Mayhem Midget. "Mc Kigney has Asperger Syndrome. One of the side effects of Asperger is having interests to the point where it's borderline obsessive." "Yeah, Like I am obsessed with giving that dork the Twister Punch!" "This seemingly never ending War is something that Mc Kigney enjoys, as his joy is one of the side effects of his focused Interest." "So he enjoys this never ending war but I still want to punch that idiot!" "But Mc Kigney has a point by destroying all of your glasses. You use your glasses with methods to cheat. Sign these contracts vowing that you will never cheat." "*Tch!* FINE!"

—-

The Aliens who attacked before decided to Invade the earth in a non stop way, with games of the week in each episode where our heroes must fight the threats that are in several locations around the world. The clues that the heroes figure out is in the vein of Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego. (The Gameshow.) The Caper begins in your typical action Caper (That are in the vein of Batman '66) and the Clues are given as to where the rounds will take place by the aliens posing as Pop Culture's various forms, music, radio broadcasts and shows and also by Zany antics of the Arcader Gameranger Agents that works with the main heroes.

The Heroes figure out the locations and proceeds to fight the threats such as for example Fighting Bomberman in the Abandoned Astrodome with the clues being "Eighth wonder of the world, some of the designers named Wilson, Morris, Crain and Anderson, and WWE hosted Wrestle Mania X-Seven with attendance of 67,925 people."

After several battles are fought and won (Sometimes at the expense of the Redshirt that may or may not be named Kenny. "He's Dead Jim!") Eventually the pieces come together as some Mega Caper that the Big Bad of the Week are going to pull off. The heroes face off against said Big Bad in a Boss Battle where the key is to outwit the menace and attack the weak points. After that's all said and done the Villain will try to get away. Most of the time, The Villain of the Week will get away but sometimes, the heroes capture the Villain and another crisis is adverted.

I had to go over the show's formula but do you think that a series based off of the Pixels Movie will work?

I've tried this before and, in my estimation, failed; for the sake of practice, I shall try once again.

Here goes.

In pure book jacket style:

  • A teenage prodigy saves the life of an amnesiac with disturbing abilities and enlists the aid of two con men to smuggle the stranger across a wilderness where time and space has come undone and magic roams free.
  • An ageing hired killer is given the perplexing assignment of leading a team of criminals to retrieve an object that should not exist from a man who cannot be traced.
  • A repressed schoolgirl leads two of her friends on a cross-country journey by train in pursuit of unrequited love which is gradually complicated by all manner of grisly intrigues.
  • An internal affairs investigation at a paramilitary private security firm backfires, triggering a series of events encompassing, but limited to, a botched kidnapping plot and city-spanning gang warfare.
  • Two outsiders, unable to die and refusing to rest, orchestrate the utter annihilation of every known universe.
Naturally, all of these are connected. How? Well... you'd have to read it.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
