My original concept began as an attempt to explain Pokemon moves. I explained it through something similar to a traditional magic system. Then that led to an entire of people who had learned how to control this magic for themselves, from an alternate world called Aetherion. The story follows one major Aetherionian race, the Spirits, which is created almost solely through certain humans who die and come back to life a few days later.

I've recently attempted to try my hand at actually trying to write a premise for a TV show, but I've come to realize how hard this really is.

My first attempt was a show about a team of living Constellation animals on a quest to locate the powerful rings of Saturn before an evil Constellation does.

My second try seemed a bit better. A series about a scientist and his intern being marooned on an uncharted island full of unusual creatures and plants, where they locate information about a lost civilization and are being stalked by a secret paramilitary organization.

Now, my third attempt is this: Three elementary school kids (ages 9-12 and one a girl) of a place called Nexus City, USA, accidentally stumble upon a box with three strange items; a belt with a lightning bolt on the buckle, a golden Tiara and a necklace with a raven pendant. These items posses ancient power, power to transform the wielders into demigod-like beings. Fortunately for the three kids, the ancient and powerful Oracle of Delphi was in their city in disguise and has taken upon herself to train them on how to use their new abilities. Unfortunately, things also took a turn for the worse, since Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune's moons have all each reached a perfect alignment. At first one might consider this no big deal. But they'd be wrong to think that, for this strange phenomenon causes three things to happen simultaneously. The ancient Greek witch, Circe, rises from the deepest part of the Underworld, Tartarus. At the same time, the ancient Egyptian serpent, Apep, rises from the Nile River and the Norse goddess of Ice and Vengeance, Skadi suddenly feels active after years of dormancy. These three divine beings all had the same thing on their minds - World domination. Now it's up to Zack Salmoneus, Ivy Gizza and Neil Gardas to master their powers and protect the world from destruction and chaos.

I just don't know what to do, I just can't think of an idea that hasn't already been done.

(I will draw this in a comic not write it btw) I want to create a world were they are two important yet oppososite forces Ki and magic. It will be mostly an Urban Fantasy. Heavily inspired in Dragonball Z.

Here are the differences

Ki

  1. Every muggle has acces to chi.
  2. Ki has unlimited potential. There is no such thing as a full potential.
  3. It obeys the rules of nature.
  4. You can't earn even a single ounce of power without training... alot
  5. You start from zero no exceptions.
  6. You need to be fit ( having a healthy life in general) otherwise power decreases
magic
  1. Only a few chosen have acces to Magic.
  2. It has reality warping capabilities
  3. Chosen magicians are instantly powerful
  4. Power increases not by training but by mastering your full potential. OR by finding mystical enhancers...
  5. A mage will always be stronger than a ki user.Unless the chi user has trained enougj to surpass him/her (this isn't an easy feat at all).
  6. Some magic users are heroic MagicalGirls
  7. Magical races like fairies are unbelievably powerful in magic.

Choosen magicians are slowly awakeing and becoming drunk with power. They aren't nsesesarly evil. Just complex or amoral

One of the characters is a poor friendless shrkinking violet wit a horrible life. But she is secretly a trickster Magical Girl.In her magical girl persona she enjoys using her powers by tricking people for amusement and being her True Self ( a crazy charismatic beautiful girl). However she isn't aware of it. She thinks that her magical girl persona is just a dream she has... It isn't.

The main character is a muggle.A weak yet always cheerful strong willed girl that never surrenders. She isn't special by any means. She is also the weakest character of the series. She isn't the choosen one , she isn't secretly a princes'. She is special not becuase of fate but due to her actions. She starts being a bit fat. But becomes a very strong and beautiful warrior trough training and hard work alone.

One of the main villains is a an omnipotent inmortal (as far as we know...)fairy.Called vanisha (a mix between the name vanessa and the word vanish). For an unknown reason she has willinly limited her own power (suposedly she is so powerful that she needs to rest her power every 5 millenia but this is of course a lie she limited her own power becuase even with all her power she was alone, part of her has the hope that someone will love her now that she is partially part of humanity. But she won't admit it. Nor ask directly for love. hence the reason she is acts this way.Omnipotence is meaningless when alone. And she knows it. She has a muggle secret identity. But the auddience doesn't know who it is.

She and is only able to use an echo of her former power (nonetheless she is extremily powerful). She is extremely arrogant beuatiful vain and indiferent. Her main goal is to be loved. But her arrogance that comes with her power puts her constantly in clahs with the main heroes.

Would like someone's opinion on this premise :)

So basically, it's a superhero comic about a mild-mannered stock market investor who, inspired by the current financial crisis, dons a cape and mask and becomes THE WALL-STREET AVENGER, stalwart defender of the financial world, whose powers are derived directly from the stock market. His nemesis and the primary villain is THE LAWMAKER, sworn enemy of the free market, who by day is an unscrupulous lawyer attempting to bring down big business and industry.

A follow-up comic entitled THE FEMALE WALL-STREET AVENGER follows the adventures of a character who is exactly the same as THE WALL-STREET AVENGER, but female and with crappier stories. I guess girls don't like comics or something.

Slice-of-life-esque time travel story, going through the small frustrations involved with being a teenaged superhero and keeping up the lie of living two different lives on two different continents and being three different people, all without telling a soul.

There's more to it than that, especially since its a crossover fic (don't ask), but ether way it still has to be one of the weirdest concepts I've ever come up with. Planning it out around the separate timezones will be fun, I'm sure.

a pair of siblings living in a small town somewhere vaguely in france (or europe) working in/running a freelance agency. the older sister gets a job from a familiar man one day to track down his missing daughter. after a quick sweep around the neighborhood, checking to make sure that she definately wasn't in the fire that burned down the house of a reclusive neighbor a few hours earlier, she questions why the man went to her instead of the police, coming to the conclusion he has something to hide.

Not much later an old friend appears to help her out; the murderer of her family, and the one who gouged out her right eye. after several fights, constant reminiscing of the good old days, the very early reveal of her asking him to murder her family in the first place, dropping subtle hints as to why she asked him to, and generally not achieving anything at all, eventually they get back in contact with the man to ask him some questions- at which point the killer recognizes him, but can't quite figure out what he has to do with anything.

its revealed soon enough that the man used hypnosis on the killer. hypnotism in this story works in that you can make your subject do anything you want- so long as they dont veheminently object to doing it (such as murder). he claims that he found out what the main character asked her friend to do, and tried to hypnotise him, commanding him not to kill anyone but her- but it failed miserably, since he killed the family and only attacked her. after some events i havent thought of yet, the main character looks up hypnotism and finds out the aforementioned rule, and this totally destroys their team.

[BLAAAAAAAAAANK]

meanwhile the younger brother is doing unspecified stuff that same day and runs into the missing girl. and at first assumes she's a lost child and tries to take her to the police, but she runs away. he initially shrugs it off, not exactly caring to put much effort into something he doubts would pay off at any point, but runs into her several times and begins to find out more about her situation and becomes intrigued, eventually getting fully invested.

in this plot we find out about the girls motivations for disappearing, her exact relation to the man claiming to be her father, and a peek into his motivation for his actions.

eventually it culminates in the plots colliding and the brother running into his sister- who's with his family's murderer, and promptly freaks the fuck out. finding out his sister orchestrated the murder didn't exactly help either.

[BLAAAAAAAAANK]

ends on a downer with the villain (if he can be called that) getting away scot-free, the killer getting caught and sent back to prison, refusing to tell anyone about the main characters involvement, the main character stubbornly refuses to tell her brother why she orchestrated the murder, ultimately driving them apart, with her guilt over getting her best friend sent to jail as a cold calculating murderer ultimately getting the better of her. thought I havent decided what happened to the missing girl.

on the upside though, the loose ends may be properly resolved in the finale story, which takes place only a year later not far off from where this story takes place.

EDIT: ...i just made a summary instead of a concept didnt i? dammit

Right: I've just found myself in a Christian band. As a decided non-Christian, I came up with an idea for a concept album:

A single mother with two children: a young son, and a teenage daughter. The mother dies for some reason, orphaning the kids. The daughter goes through a crisis of faith, while the son has his own faith strengthened.

I'm still up in the air about a lot of details, mostly the ending. I don't want to come down too Anvilicious one way or the other, so I'm struggling to find a balance.

Despite my love for the series, I've found the Ace Attorney games have a very simplistic formula for the mysteries within them: X killed Y and made it look like Z did it. There are a few things that make each case different, like Maya's capture in Farewell, My Turnabout, but aside from the details, each case is very similar.

I want more than just single murders. Serial killings, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder are the kind of things I want to see.

Since the Phoenix Wright's time in the courtroom has wrapped up and the torch has been passed to Apollo Justice, I have taken it upon myself to write a fanfic set in a world in which Phoenix never lost his badge. The plot goes that Phoenix starts out looking into just another case, specifically the murder of a girl named Nancy Erd. It starts out simple enough, with the regular formula, but a new prosecutor has come to Los Angeles, and for a reason other than proving their lawyering skills are madder than those of Phoenix Wright.

The untitled fantasy story I'm writing is set in a world where before they are born, some individuals get gifts, some get curses, and some get nothing at all.

The protagonist, Gilea, before she was born, had a choice of two gifts: the ability to heal herself quickly of any injury, pain, or illness, or the ability to heal everyone but herself of those things. She chose the latter.

Flash forward to Gilea at age 18. She's now working as a Scullery Maid in a palace. All her life she's been something of an Ill Girl, but she has a gift for healing others. She often sneaks a peek at important state functions, and she dreams of being royalty.

She gets into trouble, and is saved by a knight from another kingdom, named Leos. He's hurt in saving her, so she follows him back to his kingdom while she heals him. He shows her his kingdom, a No Woman's Land where wives are considered property of their husbands. Leos's own wife is a woman named Lyta, who had the same choice to make as Gilea before her birth. Lyta chose the ability to heal herself quickly of any injury, pain, or illness. In her youth, Lyta was a warrior and The Red Sonja, but now that she's married to Leos, she hates it, and misses her adventurous old life.

The kingdom is ruled by a prince named Phineas. When he sees Gilea's gift, he asks her to stay, and offers to make her his princess. In reality, though, he has a curse: the ability to make everything he owns into a deadly weapon. The reason he wants Gilea is to use her healing ability to heal his armies, and to own her so that he can use her as a weapon against her own kingdom.

Gilea figures this out, and has to choose between her longtime dream of Rags to Royalty, and her kingdom. In the end, she refuses to marry him. He tries to coerce her, but she, Leos, and Lyta fight back against him and wind up dethroning him.

In the end, Lyta and Leos have a Heroic Rematch in which Lyta wins. She then leaves Leos and goes back to Gilea's kingdom to be free. Gilea, by contrast, chooses to stay with Leos.

Renaissance tech + Magic and Hobbits and elves oh my.

Camel'sNose: the City and hinterland are free. Bad guys are only mighty enough to set up a Slave Market in the Docklands. Anti-slavery Factions are Judean patriotic Front, too busy squabbling among themselves.

Aristo Patriots distrust Peasant Patriots: the Peasants talk ab out a Revolution to abolish the Slave Trade, what they really want is a Revolution to raid our manor houses and steal our stuff. Likewise Peasant Patriots distrust Aristo Patriots.

Likewise Peasant Traitors (pro-Slave Trade) do trust Aristo Traitors. "They tell us to do evil stuff and they pay us."

Eventually, the Traitors cross the Moral Event Horizon, the Patriot factions unite and win.

Hmmm, it seems to me the point of this thread is really to go through and see if anyone would read/watch a story based on these concepts. So I tried to focus my short reviews on that aspect, and hope that the same question of "Will you read/watch this?" will be answered for my concept. Chose to review the last four before mine.

animemetalhead - Sounds interesting, though not typically the kinda story I'd go for. I'd agree that you'd have to be careful with it.

Officer Sting - Haven't played the Ace Attorney games, so I'm not much help on this one. Wouldn't be against a more complicated plot for something, though if it was done well.

Leigh Sabio - Now this I would read/watch. Seems like a really interesting concept for me, though I'm sort of disappointed that you gave away the end. :P

Dagobitus - Not a bad concept in my opinion. Of course, it's been done before, but what hasn't? If written well with good characters, it could be a highly entertaining story.

Now for mine: After another loss against the solar system's great Hero, the evil Galactic Overlord (let's call him Ted) wakes up to find himself in the body of 14-year boy who's about to be shipped off to the solar system's police academy in order to join the fight against said Overlord. He now has Parents who keep using this funny word called Love; Moe looks that wouldn't scare a child; the build of, well, a teenager that hasn't gone through puberty yet; and Healing Hands that he can't use to harm anyone else no matter how hard he tries. It only gets worse as at his new school, the former Galactic Overlord now known as Ted quickly becomes the least popular student in the academy, comes under the scrutiny of the Sadist Teacher and most popular student in school, and is forced to endure multiple friendship attempts from the academy's resident hippie. Plus, what is this thing called homework?

Meanwhile, the hero of the galaxy has disappeared as well, and someone new has shown up claiming to be the Galactic Overlord. Ted may be forced into this war sooner than he thought.
