- Jossed. It's going to be Malekeith and Loki will appear (apparently skirting the edge of the Moral Event Horizon) but no Enchantress.
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will delve into at least aspects of this concept, with the U.S. government commissioning a new Captain America in John Walker, and Isaiah Bradley is rumored to make an appearance. Steve Rogers himself isn't confirmed to be in the show, and whether he knows about any of this - especially Bradley - is unclear.
- With the series released, this is jossed. Although Isaiah Bradley (at least) is confirmed to exist, Bucky confirms that Steve didn't know about him, and Isaiah never used the title of Captain America. Also, Jeffrey Mace appeared on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., in a form heavily overhauled from the comics.
- Or, seeing how Jim Hammond appeared in The First Avenger and Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne fought the Russians from the 50s to the 80s, The Invaders were formed and lead by Peggy, with Falsworth becoming Union Jack in honor of Cap. The rest of the team consisted of Namor, Jim, Toro, Spitfire, The Mighty Destroyer, Golden Girl, Human Top and eventually, Pym and Janet. The Invaders were also the prototype for the Avengers.
- Jossed. The villains were The Winter Soldier, Batroc the Leaper, Crossbones and HYDRA.
- This seems unlikely. Jane Foster doesn't look even the slightest bit mixed race, and I am really doubtful they would white wash Bill Foster.
- She could be a beloved stepdaughter who took his name or adopted.
- No mention of any children for Bill Foster in Ant Man and the Wasp, where he finally makes his appearance.
The twist is, no one else can see Doctor Strange, including the audience. Everyone will wonder if Banner has finally lost it until he does something, it works, and Doctor Strange truly appears.
- Thanos will gather the Masters of Evil to test the Avengers. After they are beaten he will decide to personally go to Earth.
- Jossed.
- Emilie de Ravin. She's already playing a strong female character trying to redeem the man she loves. The role would fit.
- Jessy Schram. She has an innocent face which would fit the role, and looks a little bit like Sigyn from Norse Mythology.
- Mia Wasikowska. If Marvel decide to go for a younger Sigyn.
- Jennifer Morrison. If they want a Sigyn with a silver tongue of her own, and can slam-dunk Loki's into led.
- The siblings, like in the comic, could start out as villains working for Thanos, or part of the Masters of Evil. They then, for some reason or another, pull a Heel–Face Turn in time for the final battle. Redemption Equals Death could come into play, and one of them or both of them could die.
- Casting choices:
- Quicksilver: Jeremy Sumpter, Max Greenfield, Tom Felton.
- Scarlet Witch: Rachel Hurd-Wood, Alexandra Daddario, Rachel Mcadams.
- This article says that Marvel is looking for actors in their 20s, preferably of British descent; someone edgy for Quicksilver and someone spell-check defying for Scarlet Witch. Saoirse Ronan was mentioned as a choice for the latter. (And out of the choices mentioned already, we have left Tom Felton and Rachel Hurd-Wood fitting the "20's" and "British" descriptions)
- Rights issues with the X-Men films mean that while they can be used in the MCU, they can't be identified as mutants. Instead, they'll be re-imagined as magic-users. Wanda already is one, and it can help tie-in to the planned Doctor Strange movie. You'd be amazed how complicated some of the rights issues over certain characters have gotten. 20th Century Fox still owns he film rights to X-Men which means they automatically own the film rights to any mutant character from the Marvel Comics, even those that are more widely associated with other series. Versions of the characters are going to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past, played by different actors and totally thematically unrelated to the ones that are going to appear in the MCU; casual viewers might not even recognize them as based on the same characters. In fact there's legal back and forth over which side could use their code names and which ones could use their real names. It's possible they will show up in one of the franchises not as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch but only identified as Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Namor was in the middle of the same sort of legal battle because he started in his ownstand alone comic series way back before the X-Men were thought of but it was retconned into being a mutant. In short, lawyers have to argue comic book canon complete with retcons in courts of law.
- Ironically, despite Disney acquiring the X-Men film rights, WandaVision retconned that Wanda was born with Magic. And that she was foreseen to become the Scarlet Witch after her power was affected by the Mind Stone.
- Both characters have officially confirmed for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Scarlet Witch will be played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Quicksilver will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
- Considering their appearance in The Stinger for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they're likely going to be the MCU equivalent of Andrea and Andreas von Strucker (a.k.a. Fenris).
- Jossed. Both Jan and Hope Van Dyne are white in this continuity.
- Janet's daughter might be Petra Laskov a.k.a. Red Wasp.
- Or the new Wasp could be a half-Asian woman like the Ultimate version of Janet.
- Janet having a daughter is confirmed; Evangeline Lilly will be playing Hope Pym.
- SWORD is apparently tied up in the rights for X-Men, so it's prboably unusable. The resto fthe guess can still work, though.
- Jossed. Her movie took place before The Battle of New York, and had no appearance of SWORD.
- It'd be a dick move, but you have to admit it'd be funny.
- It'd also probably be a better Justice League film than whatever Zack Snyder comes up with.
- Jossed. No Squadron Supreme film is currently in the works.
- Mostly confirmed, but given how dark Daredevil and Jessica Jones got, "darker" probably isn't the right word.
- Ghost Rider appeared in Agents of Shield. Punisher DID get a Netflix series, but Blade and Moon Knight haven't appeared yet.
- Blade's getting a solo movie.
- Jossed considering the ending of the Marvel-Netflix partnership and the reorganizing of Marvel Television that seemingly rendered virtually all Infinity Saga-era non-film projects non-canon.
- Confirmed, he got his own movie in 2016.
Also, she'll be played by Natalie Dormer, because 1) Natalie Dormer can play scheming women with just enough nuance and humanity to keep them from being one-note (see: Margaery Tyrell and Jamie Moriarty/Irene Adler), and 2) It'll make her brief appearance in the first Captain America movie less of a cheeky wink to the audience and more of a very brilliant piece of foreshadowing.
- Jossed.
- The idea could be introduced in The Stinger of a future movie. We would see some government people discussing whether the Avengers could be trusted, since they were assembled by SHIELD, and SHIELD was being controlled by HYDRA. Then a man proposes Thunderbolts as a replacement for the Avengers. Someone turns to the man: "And who would you be?" "Oh, sorry. My name is Zemo."
- To avoid (or at least downplay) Suicide Squad (2016) comparisons, they'll give a reason other than simply wanting the Avengers to be stopped - "We need a team who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, and isn't held back by public image".
- Semi-confirmed. All indications suggest the while there may not necessarily be a proper movie or even TV series, the Thunderbolts will be a prominent group (at least narratively) in the MCU at least in Phase 4 and beyond, with elements scattered throughout the various Earth-based projects:
- Black Widow (2021) features General Thunderbolt Ross, who according to a claimed leaked description of the mid-credits scene, recruits both Yelena Belova and Taskmaster to a new team he's putting together.
- Mixed. Taskmaster is not recruited by anyone. And Yelena is recruited by Val for Mercenary jobs.
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have Zemo as a main antagonist, and Ross is rumored to be appearing in this series as well. Leaked set photos have also revealed that Songbird will feature. Additionally, multiple recent purported footage descriptions of the series indicate that the U.S. government (likely through Ross as the overseeing agent) covertly wants Winter Soldier-levels of mind control over their Captain America replacement, and Bucky's arc will see him attempting to settle down and avoid getting caught up in the fray as Zemo (this time armed with a failsafe codeword that wasn't wiped from Bucky's mind since it had never been used before) once again tracks him down for potential recruitment, possibly on the behalf of Ross himself.
- Mostly Jossed. Ross and Songbird do not appear, with the former having no direct involvement with the show. Sam and Bucky seek Zemo's help (not Zemo) and Zemo can no longer control Bucky. However, Bucky does settle down and attempts to make amends for his actions as the Winter Soldier.
- She-Hulk is rumored to have Ross once again appear, this time including a change to his Thunderbolts alter-ego, Red Hulk.
- Officially confirmed in 2022. While the original theory did not fully pan out as theorized (with the direct aftermath of Avengers: Age of Ultron playing out instead in Captain America: Civil War ), a Thunderbolts film was leaked to the public in 2022, and was later confirmed by Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con.
- Jossed. While a younger Pym does appear in flashbacks, he's still played by Michael Douglas with the aid of CGI effects.
- Semi-confirmed. A Runaways series has been announced, but it's Hulu instead of Netflix.
- Jossed.
- Perhaps Magus will be the villain of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. This could introduce both the Time Gem (because the plot would involve travelers from the future) and the Soul Gem (Kind of Warlock's signature) at the same time.
- Jossed, he is not a member of the Guardians in the sequel. His "cacoon" shows up in The Stinger.
- She was confirmed for the canceled New Warriors series. Although at this point, it would make no sense to for them to have her status as a mutant be Adapted Out, given that Disney can now use mutants.
- Confirmed, with the 1990s Animated series being rebooted in 2023 for Disney+.
- Since the 2015 Fantastic Four movie bombed, it's likely Marvel will get the movie rights. So we might see Galactus (and Silver Surfer) at some point.
- Confirmed. Ego confirmed for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Peter Quill's father.
In Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark finds Klaw and recruits him under the Superhuman Registration Act to make vibranium weapons for use against the anti-Registration heroes, which will result in T'Challa joining Cap's side in the conflict, but Klaw escapes in the fallout of the film's final battle, leading into the Black Panther movie, where he'll be The Dragon to another Black Panther villain like Man-Ape or Killraven.
- Jossed. Though he is alluded to, T'Challa never appears in Age of Ultron, nor does his father. While he does have a major role in Civil War, it's as an independent combatant who clashes with Cap's team (and thus has motives that align with Stark's to a degree).
- Additionally, while correct that Klaue sells Ultron vibranium, the sale is made in the former's Johannesburg hideout with no trip to Wakanda made. Black Panther reveals that Klaue's vibranium was acquired in the early 1990s and he had no role in T'Chaka's death.note
- Jossed. Their parents were human as were they originally. Also they are not Inhumans but still are called gifted.
- Iron Man 4 is the main place he could be used.
- Possibly, and bear with me for this, GOTG 2 or 3. To tie in with the Cosmic origins of the Makluan Rings.
- Alternatively, he'll be used in the Shang-Chi movie that Marvel supposedly has in the works. Chi could easily be a special operations agent, and the Mandarin could be a target that Chi has to take out.
- Alternatively alternatively, he could be Shang-Chi's father, replacing Fu Manchu from the source material.
- CONFIRMED. He's slated to appear in Shang-Chi.
- Jossed. James Gunn says that Marvel cannot use Kang, since his rights belong at Fox.
- Disney now owns Fox, so it's now unjossed - assuming the Infinity Stones survive Endgame.
- Jossed, since they didn't survive the events of Endgame. Unless Kang comes from another dimension with their own set of Infinity Stones.
- Disney now owns Fox, so it's now unjossed - assuming the Infinity Stones survive Endgame.
- Jossed. Nuke appears in Jessica Jones, but as a veteran of The War on Terror rather than Vietnam. Similar, Punisher appears in Season 2 of Daredevil, but is far too young to have fought in Vietnam in this continuity.
- Assuming the rumors that the green Eye of Agamotto is the Time Stone then that leaves orange as the Soul Stone. Adam Warlock would fit here perfectly since he is both closely associated with the Soul Gem and has orange skin.
- Jossed in Avengers: Infinity War. Though the Soul Stone is tied to a certain character in that they knew where it was all this time, and they needed to be sacrificed for Thanos to gain it.
- Kid Loki finally appeared in Loki (2021), but he has yet to venture to Midgard.
- Moot point now. Disney owns Fox, and Kang will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
- Cassie's age is somewhat of a moot point, since it's confirmed that there's going to be a Time Skip in Avengers 4 and she'll be older after said skip.
- A Deleted Scene in Homecoming confirms Miles exists in the MCU, but whether he has any powers is yet to be seen.
- Because with Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist joining the MCU, those two are all that are needed to create an MCU version of the Ultimate Spider-Man (2012) team.
- Nova Corps have already been established, so it's only a matter of time.
- A MCU project about Nova has been officially been given the greenlight.
- Rumor has it that White Tiger will appear in Daredevil Born Again.
- Nova Corps have already been established, so it's only a matter of time.
- Jossed. She is getting a Disney+ show however.
- Then much like War Machine, Marvel could set it up so that she becomes a hero in her own right (Spectrum) in the sequel.
- Semi-Confirmed Monica Rambeau appears in Captain Marvel, albeit as a young child
- Technically confirmed: Monica will appear in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, with the newfound powers she acquired in WandaVision.
- Jossed. Runaways has been confirmed as a Hulu series.
- Molly and her parents could easily end up being Inhumans, with her parents being banished from Afterlife in the backstory. This fits with their title of "The Outcasts" when the Gibborim created the Pride..
- Since Molly's strength is more important to the plot than her parents powers at all, they could easily be changed to a family of Asgardians that were exiled to Earth. Again, this fits with "The Outcasts".
- For what it's worth, Marvel Studios can use the Skrulls: the rights are shared with Fox, like with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Only the Super-Skrull is Fox-only because he specifically has the combined powers of the Fantastic Four. So Xavin could appear with no issue.
- The problem is that Xavin also has the FF powers, so he/she is probably off-limits too. In any case, Xavin is not in the announced cast for the TV series.
- Daniel Dae Kim
- Ralph Fiennes
- Akshay Kumar
- Richard Armitage
- Brian Tee (who has expressed interest in the potential part)
- Going by the pattern of Illuminati members being played by actors who've portrayed Sherlock Holmesnote , Jonny Lee Miller is the most likely candidate.
- Heavily implied (but not confirmed), that Tenoch Huerta has been cast as Namor.
- Confirmed.
- Because c'mon! C'MON!
- Unlikely, the rights are tied up between Marvel, Sony, and FOX. A three-fer, that's rare.
- Well, not anymore...
- Jossed.
- Jossed.
- The Liberators: an adaptation of the Lady Liberators team. This is the one I think would be the most natural, since Black Widow and Scarlet Witch have both been introduced in the Avengers films and Valkyrie and the Hope van Dyne Wasp will both be established before Phase Four begins. To round out the team to an odd number, the hypothetical Liberators film will introduce She-Hulk, Thundra, or Tigra, and have them be united by Valkyrie to fight Amora (who will not be called the Enchantress, but simply an enchantress in order to avoid comparisons to DC's Enchantress) and quite literally liberate a magical realm that she has conquered by brainwashing all the men there. This will essentially turn the original concept, a pretty dated joke meant to poke fun at the rising feminism of the 70s, into a legitimate attempt at a "Girl Power" superhero movie that can still succeed with general audiences (since most of the characters would already have casual fans), using Enchantress as a representative of negative stereotypes about powerful, men disliking women that the heroines will stand in contrast of, rather than having a Straw Misogynist serve as the villain and be seen as preachy.
- Tessa Thompson and other marvel actresses have actually met with Feige about this very concept, so it could certainly happen.
- Power Pack: It's recently been rumoured that the concept of a Power Pack adaptation are in the and a superhero movie following children could be an interesting new direction. Plus, this would give Marvel Studios four new superheroes that they can use in films for longer than usual, if they do the right paperwork and sign child actors multi-picture deals.
- The Invaders: This will be kind of different in the MCU, since it's pretty clear that the original Invaders team wasn't form in this continuity...but there have been further incarnations of the team in the comics, including a contemporary Invaders team who appeared in 2014, which included Bucky Barnes and the Sam Wilson Captain America alongside Namor, the original Human Torch, and a younger Japanese heroine called Radiance. This could serve as a basis for a modern MCU Invaders, who in this setting are the only Invaders. There would absolutely have to be some changes, most notably in removing the Human Torch, though when it comes to Namor, Marvel Studios could work out a deal with the film rights to him. Either way, this hypothetical Invaders film could feature Sam and Bucky forming a new team with Radiance, and a few others. If they can use Namor, he will join the team alongside one more member. If they can't use Namor, it'll two different members. To take the place of Jim Hammond, I would recommend Bonita Juarez, who has similar fire powers and would win points on the diversity scale since she's a Latina superhero. The character who could possibly take the place of Namor could be Wonder Man (thus possibly giving Nathan Fillion some love)...or possibly Vision, since he's an android like Jim Hammond.
- Alternately, the film could be a 50s Period Piece, with the team going after Russia, being led by Namor (as Marvel apparently has the rights back), and including other Invaders members such as Spitfire to fill out the team.
- The Howling Commandos: A new Period Piece film starring an incarnation of the team fighting the good fight in a historic war and participating in espionage. If they bring back James Falsworth, it could show him become the first Union Jack, which can set up his successors for future appearances.
- The Sensational Seven: One of the few genres that Marvel has yet to venture into: a western. It would also give them another shot at the criminally underused Red Wolf and unfortunate attempt at making the Rawhide Kid gay (they could play it seriously rather than as a joke the whole time).
- Thunderbolts: A combination of several incarnations, with the core of it being the "attempt to reform past villains" concept. It will be headed by Winter Soldier (who we know wants to redeem himself) and Zemo (who is much more sympathetic than in the comics, and would likely jump at the chance to prove himself superior to the Avengers once again).
- Production leaks from multiple films and TV series strongly suggest that this will be confirmed, though not necessarily as its own solo franchise.
- Confirmed, but for Phase 5.
- Black Widows: A solo adventure for Natasha where she has to face off against Yelena Belova, a fellow trainee/result of the Black Widow Ops Program, while trying to search for a missing girl abducted by the Russian mafia, who she had failed to rescue years ago. The girl is Ava Orlova, a Ukrainian girl who was abducted by the Russian mafia after she went on the run from the Black Widow Ops Program when they tried to "recruit" her. Along the way, Natasha is assisted by Nick Fury's ex-wife and retired spy Monica Chang in fighting Belova and the Russian mafia. Ava goes on to appear more later as Red Widow after discovering she's Natasha's biological younger sister, fathered by the same man.
- Black Widow (2021) seems primed to introduce this concept, however, the premise of the movie is that Natasha ultimately goes after the entire existing Black Widow program to end it once and for all, so the longevity of the program for future appearances is in question.
- Mostly Confirmed. However, Monica Chang does not appear. Natasha is trying to save ALL of the Black Widows, instead of just 1 girl. And instead of Ava Orlova, Natasha has to free Antonia Dreykov AKA the Taskmaster
- Black Widow (2021) seems primed to introduce this concept, however, the premise of the movie is that Natasha ultimately goes after the entire existing Black Widow program to end it once and for all, so the longevity of the program for future appearances is in question.
- Captain Britain: A standard superhero origin movie where Brian Braddock becomes Captain Britain. It could also involve other British heroes such as Black Knight, Union Jack, Faiza Hussain, and Elsa Bloodstone.
- 2099: A dystopian cyberpunk story taking place years from now and focusing on only a few heroes from that era such as Spider-man, Punisher, and Ghost Rider. Could potentially also involve a time-displaced hero that audiences are more familiar with.
- Problem is that Marvel has so far expressed approval of the Deadpool movies, meaning that if anything, they'd be more likely to incorporate Deadpool in canon (especially since Disney now owns Fox).
- Ghost Rider does appear in Agents of SHIELD.
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans may feel snubbed if the likes of fan favorites like Quake and Yo-Yo are ostracized in the films for the sins of their Attilanian cousins.
- Potentially confirmed in Ms. Marvel. While Marvel has neither confirmed or denied Kamala's status as an Inhuman, the series teased her status as a Mutant in Episode 6. A snippet of the X-Men TV Series Theme is even played as a sly Easter Egg
- The Silver Surfer, as mentioned below, will show up as The Cavalry when the team goes up against Thanos. They'd have to buy the rights to him from 20th Century Fox, but it wouldn't feel like a Thanos movie without the Surfer.
- He didn't show up in either Infinity War or Endgame, but now that Disney bought Fox, it's surely a matter of when, not if.
- The Vision will appear, either as an original character or as a resurrected Phil Coulson, possibly as his LMD.
- Confirmed, he appears in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However he was a Composite Character of J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision.
- Hank Pym and The Wasp, if only to quiet the fans who weren't happy about them not appearing in this movie (Avengers: Age of Ultron).
- Ironically among the fans upset about that was Joss Whedon himself, so they'll no doubt be in the sequel, or at least the third film.
- Ant-Man has his own film.
- And the Wasp will show up in the sequel!
- Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel. Since the sequel is definitely going interplanetary, it would make sense to include the Kree as alien allies of Earth. At the very least, Carol Danvers will likely be introduced as one of the team's higher-ups at S.H.I.E.L.D..
- Confirmed, as Marvel has announced a Captain Marvel film to be released in 2019. However, she did not work at SHIELD.
- She-Hulk, if only to pad out the team's female characters, or to act as an upbeat foil for Bruce Banner. This could also help them get around the issue with Universal still having the rights to a solo Hulk movie.
- She's getting a TV series on Disney Plus, suggesting that they've at least started to work out the rights issues.
- Officially premiered in 2022.
- Doctor Strange will introduce elements of magic into the mostly sci-fi themed Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will ultimately use a spell to help turn the tide against Thanos.
- Confirmed, as of 2016's Doctor Strange (2016)
- Black Panther will be introduced as a powerful African monarch who will become the team's ally when they (inevitably) get involved in some kind of international intrigue. Midway through, they'll discover that he's a powerful warrior in his own right.
- Confirmed, thanks to 2016's Captain America: Civil War and 2018's Black Panther.
- Spider-Man, if The Amazing Spider-Man is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the real reason the franchise was rebooted.
- Hasn't that one already be Jossed by Sony?
- Confirmed! Spider-Man appeared in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Thanks, Sony!
- Ultron will be one of the new villains if the above Hank Pym theory becomes reality.
- Confirmed, albeit not related to Pym.
- Howard the Duck will be redeemed from his last cinematic adventure.
- Confirmed, in The Stinger to Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
- Goliath. BECAUSE IT MUST HAPPEN!
- Hey, he and The Avengers are owned by the same company now. You never know...
- Bill Foster appears in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but does not officially hold the mantle in the film.
- Deadpool. Thanos seemed pretty happy at the idea of "courting death" and he, Deadpool and Death did have a love triangle once. Deadpool's gonna show up and fight for his anthropomorphic personification girl!
- Most likely jossed for now, thanks to FOX
- And now unjossed. Disney now owns Fox
- Most likely jossed for now, thanks to FOX
- Squirrel Girl, because Thanos, Galactus or any other Avengers-size threat will think twice if faced with endless squirrels.
- Supposedly appearing in that New Warriors series trapped in Development Hell.
- The Series has since been scrapped
- Mockingbird, as she's both A) Massively underused and unappreciated, and B) is a relatively petite, snarky badass fighter who fits Joss Whedon's usual character mold perfectly.
- She appears as a character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seasons 2 and 3.
- A surprise retcon in the finale of Hawkeye (2021), revealed that Laura Barton was actually Agent 19, which foreshadows her future as Mockingbird. It has not been confirmed, whether her real name is Bobbi Morse or if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in a seperate universe. But it does explain why Clint trusted his wife to protect their kids by herself
- She appears as a character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seasons 2 and 3.
- Taskmaster, same reason as Bobbi: Needs More Love. Also because he would be AWESOME to see in Live Action. Maybe he'll be The Dragon to the Big Bad, whoever the Big Bad is.
- Confirmed. Taskmaster appeared in Black Widow, but as a she.
- Tigra, she needs more love too.
- The Sentry will be the Big Bad of Avengers III, created as a military attempt at a superhero who can stand up to Thor and the Hulk.
- Jossed as for the given WMG, since Thanos is the big bad of Infinity War.
- Ares: The casting sheet for The Eternals movie is calling for a male lead that is only identified as a Greek God. While the obvious conclusion for this would be it's for The Incredible Herculesnote , it would be a lot funnier if it was Ares, since all signs point towards the Eternals movie being released in 2020, which would make it a Dueling Works with Wonder Woman 1984 (who fought DC's character of the same name in her debut movie).
- Jossed for Eternals
- Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic:
- Justin Kirk
- Esai Morales
- Jon Krasinski
- Confirmed. Krasinski portrays a variant of Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
- Ian Anthony Dale
- Joseph Gordon-Levitt
- Johnny Storm/Human Torch:
- Gabriel Basso
- Shannon Kook
- Joe Alwyn
- Susan Storm/Invisible Woman:
- Ana Ortiz
- Kate Bosworth
- Emily Blunt
- Hayden Panatierre
- Ben Grimm/The Thing:
- Tyler Labine
- Terry Crews
- Jossed. Crews has been cast as Centurion Tal Mark in the Epcot attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Bruno Starosta Jr.
- Reportedly, The Eternals movie is going to have an openly gay male lead, on top of the bi Starfox also appearing. It could be either Makkari or The Forgotten Onenote , who don't have a stated sexuality in the comics as far as I knownote .
- It's possible it was also referring to Valkyrie, who is confirmed to be looking for her Queen in Thor: Love and Thunder. Though Eternals comes out first and it's still very possible the lead (looking to be Ikaris) will be queer there too.
- The first confirmed gay character will be Phastos, who will have a husband in this movie unlike how he has a wife in the comics.
- Because of pandemic related delays, Loki and Sylvie wound up becoming the first significant openly LGBTQ+ characters in MCU, with 2021's Loki (2021) confirming their shared Bisexuality. 5 months later, Phastos was confirmed as Gay in Eternals. It wouldn't be until 2022's Thor: Love And Thunder, that Valkyrie's interest in Women was finally acknowledged (although she hasn't show any romantic interest to Men, despite her comic book counterpart being Bisexual.)
- Storm: She could get to actually lead the field team this time and avert Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping. To contrast her previous portrayals they could also go with a darker-skinned actress with the casting, have her wear something resembling one of her white costumes from the comics, and will put focus on her character relationships by having her be torn between her feelings for T'Challa and Forge.
- Jubilee: Namely, they could actually let her be part of the actual team and not just the student body, let her actually be part of the action, and call her by name on screen for once.
- Forge: He's never appeared in Fox's movies, so he'd bring something new to the table. He could be the team's main tech guy and engineer, being the one who creates the Blackbird and the Danger Room. He could also be Storm's Love Interest, as mentioned above.
- Sunfire: He's also never appeared in the Fox films, not unlike Forge. He could be reimagined as the new token "bad boy" for the team, softening him up to be a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. His fire powers would make for a neat visual element and his being Japanese could be used help emphasize that mutants are a world-wide development.
- Only problem I could see with him is that Disney might consider him more closely associated with Big Hero 6, and the animated film for that team has no ties to the MCU, so it could be that he's being saved for a sequel.
- No sequel has been confirmed for that movie, and the TV show sequel seems content to not include any comic book characters at all; if anything, Disney seems to be pulling the team away further from greater Marvel lore.
- Only problem I could see with him is that Disney might consider him more closely associated with Big Hero 6, and the animated film for that team has no ties to the MCU, so it could be that he's being saved for a sequel.
- Gambit: His film has been in Development Hell for so long it isn't even funny anymore, so why not throw the character a bone and let him play with the big kids instead of just being a brief appearance in a now non-canon movie.
- Scratch being in Development Hell, it got shelved.
- Emma Frost: We can see her somewhat more heroic side by having her be aligned with the X-Men. It could make for good drama; an "evil" mutant trying to do the right thing and help younger mutants not have to become as cynical as her.
- Dazzler: Heroes in the MCU tend to be fairly publicly known, so why not a literal celebrity who becomes a member of the X-Men or vice versa? It could also lead to jokes about the music industry and cameos from famous musicians who meet and collaborate with Dazzler in-universe.
- Could be a full Musical Episode for the MCU. Bet that would get critics to shut up about Marvel movies being generic.
- Armor: She could be the team's latest recruit like in Marvel Anime: X-Men and be a viewpoint character, since the X-Men were introduced as teenage students. Her powers would also only really work with the budget for a superhero blockbuster.
- Pixie: A lot of the same appeal as Armor, though she could also bring her father being the villain Mastermind to the table.
- Xorn: He could be given a new, not convoluted story that could be integrated into the comics. It'd also be an organic way to include a popular young Chinese actor, what with how much China's affecting the box office these days.
- Polaris: She was teased in X2 in a Freeze-Frame Bonus, but never showed up; assuming that they keep Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch unrelated to Magneto, they could use Polaris in place of Magneto during stories where the latter is good or Joseph (Magneto's clone).
- Nightcrawler: They could showcase the fun, friendly part of his character. He can function as comic relief while also having serious moments and good character development.
- Vulcannote : He didn't appear in Dark Phoenixnote , so assuming we get MCU versions of Cyclops and Havok, perhaps he'll show up as a villain of an MCU X-Men movie. Alternatively, he'll get a case of Adaptational Heroism and stay a good guy (akin to his current role in Hickman's run on the X-Men).
- Gateway: an obscure choice, but I think he could be an interesting addition for two reasons. First is that his teleportation powers could allow for an interesting approach to the team's globe trotting. Second is that with his Aboriginal Australian heritage, he could provide representation for a people who are extremely underrepresented in popular media. He would be wearing clothes for this though.
- Marrow: She could be a great, sympathetic viewpoint character if handled well. Her powers could also make her a neat kinda-but-not-really replacement for Wolverine on the main team.
- Confirmed.

- Alternatively, she'll be part of the Big Bad Ensemble with another Thor villain - since Love and Thunder is likely his final solo movie, they might as well use Mangog.
