Pixeline, Pixeline in the Wild West
Pixeline is an edutainment game series by Danish developers Studio 1-2 (and later Krea Medie, who also publishes the games) for children ages 3-7 that debuted in 1994 and has, over its run, had over forty games, including its spin-offs, from 1994 to 2017. From a concept by Steen Gyldendal and inspired by edutainment games from America in the '90's, they star Genki Girl Pixeline (voiced by Annevig Schelde Ebbe) and later her little brother Lillebror (Little Brother, sometimes translated as "Baby Brother", voiced by several boys) as she teaches the player various things like math, English and history or helps others with problems and tasks through mini-games and other point-and-click screens. They caused an edutainment game boom in Denmark and are pretty fondly remembered to this day.
The series has also led to three spin-off series, Batta Batta about a skater boy, Silke about Pixeline's previously unseen little sister, and Lillebror about Baby Brother. Those spin-off games are listed on the second index in this page.
The third, fourth and sixth games have been dubbed into English and sold in Britian, but the rest of the games haven't made it outside of Scandinavia. If you want to play the English-dubbed versions of those games, you can download them here

The series contains examples of:
- Added Alliterative Appeal: Sometimes.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Barring the above, one of Pixeline's best friends, from Sing, play and learn, is a raincloud named The Raincloud.
- Adventure Game: The Batta Batta games work as such.
- Adventurer Outfit: Pixeline wears one for the jungle minigame in Sing, play and learn, the classic style.
- Affectionate Nickname: In the second English-teaching game, the British detective dog often calls her "Pixeline dear".
- Animals Not to Scale: In the third game's maze minigame, the snail is *huge* compared to Pixeline, a normal-sized little girl.
- Animal Stereotypes: In said minigame, you have to feed the monkeys bananas after playing hide-and-seek with them.
- All Girls Like Ponies: In Pixeline - and the house in the fairy tale forest, one of the mini-games, where the player put things in their respective closets, has Lillebror describe a magazine about ponies, which Pixeline says "sounds exciting!"
- Art Shift: The series' art style changes to a more detailed, more cartoony one in the seventh game and on.
- The artstyle changes again to a brighter, more pastel one in the last ''Skolehjælp" games.
- Asian Speekee Engrish: The three 'Chinese' people in In the Wild West, sometimes.
- Bilingual Bonus: When you click on the elephant in her room, she first says, "Wilkommen, meine Damen und Herren."
- She also uses English words sometimes in the English-teaching games.
- Blatant Lies: When their mom arrives after they finish organizing their family items and asks them if they're "making loud noises", Pixeline says they're just sitting still in their cardboard box.
- "Blind Idiot" Translation: The Norwegian version of the second game translates the subtitle to Hulen i treet, the tree cave. It's because the Danish word hule means house and was translated literally. This was re-translated into, Hytten i treet (the treehouse) later, though.
- Birthday Episode: The second Lillebror spin-off game takes place on Pixeline's birthday.
- Bratty Half-Pint: Lillebror behaves this way sometimes, often blowing raspberries.
- Captain Obvious: If you click on the bus doors, the bus driver says, "But you know, it's not a good idea to open the doors when driving!"
- Covers Always Lie: Despite the name, only two parts of The House In The Fairy Tale Forest takes place in said house.
- Cover Version: Besides the traditional kid's songs (see Nursery Rhymes below), Danish childrens songs like, "Jeg er en glad lille cowboy" ("I'm A Happy Little Cowboy") have also been covered for certain games.
- Damsel in Distress: Pixeline is kidnapped by a dragon and an eagle in the fourth and sixth games, respectively. In both cases, Lillebror has to save her.
- Dull Surprise: The acting in the first game is this to an extent. It improves from the second game.
- Evil Witch: In The Fairy Tale Forest, a witch catches (Pixeline's dolls of) Hansel and Gretel and she has to find cards to battle against her with.
- Family-Friendly Firearms: In In the Wild West, Pixeline and Lillebror uses pop guns to fight bad guys in certain minigames.
- Feminist Fantasy: The Wild West has Pixeline play a female sheriff (with Lillebror as her deputy), catching and bringing criminals to jail.
- Funny Animal: Some of the animals, like Pip ("Peep") and Mumle ("Mumble") are generally meant to be humorous.
- Genre Shift: Pixeline - The Jungle Treasure shifts the series from a point-and-click edutainment to a platformer.
- Getting Crap Past the Radar: The cow minigame in In the Fairy Tale Forest has udder-related innuendo in the song said cow sings.
- Heavy Metal: The style of music that plays during the monkey hide-and-seek minigame (see Adventurer Outfit and Animal Stereotypes above).
- Hot Teacher: Pixeline's teacher in In the Attic.
- House Music: The first game's version of Wheels on the Bus uses house beats.
- Impossible Hourglass Figure: Pixeline's mom.
- Maze Game: The second game has Pixeline go through a hedge maze to get the parts of her uncle's bicycle for him.
- The third game has her go throgh a tall grass maze to get a specific item for her animal friends there to use. They give her colored keys in return.
- Minigame Game: What most of the games are (see Genre Shift).
- Mood Whiplash: The first (or second, depending on when you play it) dressing game starts with Pixeline saying all the dresses have turned completely grey and wishes they could get their colors back.
- National Stereotypes: Pixeline in the Wild West has some blatant ones of Chinese people, triangle hats and all.
- Native Americans has blatant stereotypes laid on them as well, from totem poles and war paint to rain dances and them all being evil.
- Nipple and Dimed: Pixeline's teacher inexplicably has her nipples sticking out through her shirt.
- Nursery Rhymes: Songs like "Wheels On The Bus" and "Poor Little Marie" have been covered in the games.
- Our Fairies Are Different: The ones in the sixth game wear colorful clothing and are rather rough-looking.
- Pun: Besides the Take That! below, clicking on the monkey drawing on Pixeline's wall has her refer to it as her ''monkeyin' fun monkey drawing" ("abeskøje abetægning").
- Puzzle Game: In the Attic and The Wild West have such mini-games, where you put together special pictures and newspaper pictures, repsectively.
- Recycled Soundtrack: In the Wild West re-uses background music from Spaghetti Western movies.
- Recycled Title: The "Sing, play and learn" subtitle is re-used for the first Silke spin-off game.
- Redheads Are Ravishing: Pixeline's mom is a redhead and is attractive, something relatively rare for European media.
- Repetitive Name: Batta Batta.
- Rhymes on a Dime: Some of the dialogue, especially in The house in the fairy tale forest, rhyme seemingly at random.
- Sampling: The album version of "Look At My Dress" oddly interpolates "Here Comes Pippi Longstocking".
- Shrinking Violet: Olsen the Octopus, apparently.
- Shout-Out: In The Wild West, one of the segments is based on the Danish children's song and game, Tre små kinesere (Three Little Chinese).
- Spoonerism: Pixeline does this occasionally. From the first game:Pixeline: Let's learn how to country the water. Nah, of course I mean, to water the country!
- Sugar Bowl: The setting of the last spin-off game, Gjør lærling til leg ("Turn Learning Into Play").
- Sweet Tooth: Subverted with the lyric, "I can taste with my tounge/sweet balls and melons/Caddels and melons".
- Take That!: In The House in the Fairy Tale Forest, Pixeline calls steel workers "steal-workers" since they, supposedly, steal from the wood choppers.
- Talking Animal: Many of Pixeline's friends, including at a bar in Filled with proots and ballads.
- The Wild West: The primary setting of, well, Pixeline in the Wild West.
- Toilet Humor: Comes up on rare occasions, like in Sing, play and learn where one of the songs has the line, And I can smell when you let out a fart and a butler farts, before he wisks away out of emberassment.
- Totally Radical: A downplayed version with Batta Batta, who says "cool" a lot, skates and wears 'cool' clothes.
- Treasure Map: A minigame in Treasure Island involves using one that uses numbers and arrows to move Pixeline to the treasure.
- Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Pixeline's studry dad and buxom, curvy mom.
- Vocal Dissonance: In the Norwegian dubs of the games that made it to Norway, both of Pixeline's voice actresses (Karin Annette-Hansson and Siri Nilsen) sound a lot older than she's supposed to be.
