• Acting for Two: Quite common among in the English dub cast.
  • Benjamin Diskin plays both Shoutmon and Cutemon.
  • Kyle Hebert plays both Ballistamon and Dorulumon.
  • Colleen O'Shaughnessey voices Angie, Monitamon, and some of the Pickmonz.
  • In both Japanese and English, all of the Monitamon are voiced by the same actor.
• Anime First: Technically the manga launched two weeks earlier, but it was clearly intended as an adaptation of the anime, which was very late in production by that point.
• Celebrity Voice Actor: Mari Yaguchi voiced Panbachimon and also came up with his character design. Tomomi Kasai from AKB48 was Bastemon's voice actress.
• Channel Hop:
  • From Fuji TV, longtime home of the Digimon franchise, to TV Asahi.
  • In the US, whereas previous seasons were on Fox Kids the first time Saban had the rights, and Toon Disney and ABC Family's Jetix block when owned by Disney, Fusion aired on Nickelodeon, just as Saban-owned Power Rangers and Julius Jr. have been doing. Even then, the show underwent another channel hop to sister channel Nicktoons after three episodes. It also aired on The CW’s Vortexx block.
• Dueling Dubs: The series had at least two English dubs, one for Disney XD and the other for Nickelodeon, though the former is relatively unknown due to being Asia-exclusive and made in Asia.
• Franchise Killer: At least in Brazil, this was the last product of the Digimon franchise to be ever dubbed. And for the worst, while the rest of the series aired uncensored in the country, this one was based on the Saban dub, and as happened in the USA, the third season has never been aired there. Following that, Toei never again pushed the franchise forward in that country (with a few subtitled exceptions on Crunchyroll), although the early anime shows still rarely appear on home video or in a very limited streaming services in the country. However, the original shows never used to broadcast in TV there again either. It wouldn't be until 2023 that they got a new chance for a dubbed release after almost ten years, with a theatrical release of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, while its predecessor and tri. remain all undubbed. Time will tell if this will or will not resurrect the franchise in Brazil.
• Only Barely Renewed: Apparently during its initial airing Digimon Fusion started off with good ratings, but as the season tapered on its ratings began to fall, giving this season some of the lowest ratings in the history of this franchise, however it had good toy sales, so it was allowed to continue for a second season, which ended up doing even worse than its predecessor.
• The Other Darrin:
  • In the English dub, Wisemon was voiced by Dan Woren in Season 1 and Steve Kramer in Season 2.
  • Mrs. Kudou was voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the first episode, but Michelle Ruff took over later on.
  • MetalGreymon was voiced by Kyle Hebert in his first appearance, but Neil Kaplan took over in his second appearance for the remainder of the first arc. In the second arc however, Hebert returned to the role.
  • Lillymon was voiced by Laura Bailey in her first appearance, but at the beginning of the second season, she was voiced by Cindy Robinson, using the same voice she used for Lilamon. Bailey would voice the role again later on, though Robinson also did one line in a subsequent episode.
• Reality Subtext: Perhaps a side affect from so many shout outs but there are four rival armies, three have an expy of another mon series at their head while one has franchise mainstay Greymon. This doesn't have relevance in the plot but it is amusing.
• Role Reprise: The English dub has Bob Klein voicing Bukamon and Richard Epcar voicing Etemon, reprising their roles from Digimon Adventure, though Etemon is no longer an Elvis Impersonator.
• Screwed by the Network:
  • More than any Digimon series before it. Perhaps due to changing channels from Fuji TV to TV Asahi, Xros Wars was beaten around repeatedly. Episodes were frequently delayed before the show was suddenly moved from a primetime slot to Sunday morning slot once again, resulting in an entire month without any new episodes. Only time will tell if the show will fair better as a result of this.
    • While the ratings have been lower than usual (which may be in part due to the aformentioned episode delays, switching channels, and moving the time slot), its toy sales are pretty much better than the last two shows, so much show that Riku Sanjo hinted of the possibility of extending the program when needed.
  • The English dub was screwed hard by Nickelodeon (which has had quite the history with this practice). Two episodes get shown, then the next one is pre-empted for Worldwide Day of Play. The following week, despite episode 3 being scheduled, episode 1 was rerun instead. After an inordinate number of delays and random non-airings, it was eventually shafted from the main Nickelodeon channel (in favor of SpongeBob SquarePants reruns) to the lesser-audience Nicktoons channel, with the only uninterrupted broadcast being the one by Vortexx with a delayed schedule. The result is that, combined with its similarly poor treatment in the Japanese version, the fanbase has started joking that the series has a sort of network-related curse on it.
• What Could Have Been:
  • According to the Digimon Reference Book, Gravimon has a Dangerous Forbidden Technique called "Gravity Bang" which is said to be capable of partially destroy a star. He never got the chance to use this technique since he gets deleted in the anime before it even shows up.
  • Tactimon also has a Dangerous Forbidden Technique: an unsealed/unsheathed Jatetsufūjin-maru which has, according to the Digimon's profile, "a sinister power strong enough to split a star in two". He never drew it on-screen, possibly because it was deemed too dangerous to be used at all and Bagramon forbid him to ever use it (though this is all just speculative). It does happen in the manga adaption at least.
  • In regards to the manga, Yuuki Nakashima revealed in the liner notes for the final volume that he had a boatload of scrapped plotlines that he wanted to put in^note some related to the anime and some related to the franchise as a whole, though had no choice but to cut them due to V-Jump constraints. Victims of this included a plot about Beelzebumon and Mervamon, a plot about the Royal Knights, and further development of Kiriha and Nene's relationship prior to the former's Love Confession.
• Working Title: Digimon: Fusion Battles for the North American English dub (as confirmed by the U.S. Patent filed by Toei Animation); time will tell whether European titles will stick to this preliminary title or adopt the U.S. title of Digimon Fusion.
  • Digimon Fusion Battles ended up being used for the Malaysian English and Italian dubs of the show.
