Act 1: A Rough Start

     Part 1: Outsider

Fight 1: Fenny VS Roora

  • Fenny enduring a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from Roora. The sheer pain and tears on the artic vixen's face is palpable, especially since Roora uses low blows. This makes her victory all the sweeter.
    • Roora giving Fenny a wedgie for no reason can count as this as Fenny looks utterly humiliated by the move.
  • Fenny's manager calling out the referee for not interfering when Roora pulls an illegal move by pulling on Fenny's tail and then resorting to just badmouthing Roora in impotence.
    • The scene can hit to those who participate in combat sports as fighters, managers, or trainers can watch the indignity of an opponent committing a foul and get away with it because the referee didn't notice.
  • Roora's manager trying to warn her to stop showboating and finish Fenny off is a villainous one.
    • Also hit close to trainers and mentors who watch their apprentice lose matches because they refused to listen to vital advice out of hubris.
  • Fenny's victory can be this after all the pain and humilliation she endured against Roora in the match.

Chapter 2: Get Ready

  • The fact that Cookie lives and works in a janitor closet at a soapland.
    • It gets sadder because a worker at the soapland tells Muko that the owner let Cookie stay there two years ago as favor, but Cookie stayed longer than expected. It makes one wonder how badly Cookie is doing if she's that desperate to stay there for so long.
  • What's the basis of Muko and Cookie's partnership? Muko is too lazy to go to a Combagal school so she looked for an agency that would allow her to have a match as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Cookie is so desperate for a client due to bad reviews that she willingly picks Muko despite the bunny girl being inexperienced and having no idea of how furry fighting works.
    • The fact that Muko didn't even read the bad reviews in the first place. Considering Muko wants to make a career out of furry fighting, starting with an agency with bad reputation will cost her...which ends up becoming true in later chapters.
  • Cookie being anxious the day after she meets Muko, being worried that things will go bad.
    • While it's Played for Laughs with the way she reacts to it, Cookie's overly exaggerated reaction to a single coin as a sign of good luck makes one think how desperate she is for a money if a coin elicited that reaction out of her.

Chapter 3: Hard Working Dreamer

  • Saniko, Muko's older sister, worry about her sister and her ridiculous passions, feeling like she's wasting her life by quitting her jobs to pursue them. Her horror at hearing Muko quit her job is the same as a legal guardian when hearing their charge is sacrificing their future over a stupid decision.
  • Muko and her boss are unwilling to compromise regarding Muko working again. However, when Cookie agrees to have Muko work again for a month for free, Muko's boss agree. He, however, takes the time to scold Muko for her poor work etiquette, telling her he only hired her and put up with her as a favor to her mom. The last comment gets her silent immediately.
  • Muko being incapable of doing customer service because she's socially awkward around men. While she doesn't hate them, it's clear that Muko is suffering from social anxiety until Cookie gives her some advice.
  • The chapter introduces Harry, who will become Muko's first fan. What's so depressing about him? He was fired from his job after working there from years. His family left him. And he can't find another job with the current economy. The situation has him Driven to Suicide with him going to Cafe Carrots for one last meal. Fortunately, Muko has figured out customer service and she gives him an act of kindness in his hour of need, which causes him to become her first fan when Cookie gives him a poster.
  • Muko nearly winning The Bet until Kalita and her gang show up.

Chapter 4: The World Is Your Ring

  • One of Kalita's men, an anteater, flirts with one of the maids by sticking out his long tongue at her. Even though Kalita puts a stop to it, the maid is left in tears.
  • Cookie protecting the cash register when the hyena biker was about to break it with a bat. The fact that Cookie is very small and the hyena biker is a buff young man armed with a metal bat shows how desperate Cookie is to get enough money to restart her career. She's even crying as she hugs the register.
    • Cookie's second attempt to defend the register has her give Kalita a Death Glare to protect it, only to be swiftly thrown aside due to side difference.

Chapter 5: Roda Kira's Killer Star Kalita

Chapter 6: The Smiling Nighthawk

  • Nyarai is sexually assaulted by a hippo customer. While she puts him on his place with a well-placed kick in the face, a comment by her implies it's not the first time this happened and she's developing a distaste for men.
    • Jowdie saying that the Cyclone Crushers are capable of defending themselves is kind of a sad thing as their manager is still exposing them to perverts who grope them, even if they are capable of fending them off.
  • Earlier, the hippo customer asked Nyarai if she was a Wild and then proceeded to make insulting questions and comments about her intelligence. Nyarai is forced to control her anger until the hippo goes too far by trying to grope her.
  • The fact that Nyarai has a manager despite already being Cookie's client elicits some melancholy because the first five chapters presented Muko and Cookie and how they form their Combagal-manager bond. Knowing that Nyarai plans to succeed by using Cookie as no more than a stepping stone can rather sting after seeing how much she grew to care about Muko in a single day.

     Part 2: Cheater

Chapter 7: The Good and The Bad

  • Cookie mentally scolds herself for allowing Muko to fight Kalita and even appears to blame herself for letting the fight happen in the first place.
    • As Cookie is having her inner monologue, the audience has a flashback of Muko's fight with Kalita, reminding the viewer how much of a Curb-Stomp Battle it was.
  • Cookie's scolding towards Muko for not taking care of her body. She gets specially mad when she orders Muko to drop the prescribed painkillers that were given to her, ordering the bunny to toss them in the trash.
  • Cookie giving Muko the Donkizari action figure is a bittersweet tearjerker as she uses it to explain her background and dream:
    • As a child, Cookie admired Donkizari and wanted to be a Combagal like her. Sadly, even as a little girl, Cookie realized that her height was a Dream-Crushing Handicap so she was never going to be a Combagal.
      • The realization is evident when a child Cookie imagines Donkizari or a large Combagal and gets scared, realizing she will never be strong enough to fight them in the ring.
    • Cookie deciding to be a manager so that she could train a Combagal and help her achieve her dreams of becoming a champion. It moves Muko to tears.
    • Frankly, the fact that Cookie bought the action figure can move one to tears when one remembers that Cookie is in greater debt after the cafe fiasco.
  • Muko feeling bad that she couldn't help Cafe Carrots by not winning against Kalita. Cookie can't bring herself to say that Muko's efforts to win The Bet and protect the cafe were All for Nothing , especially when they're in greater debt than before.
  • Cookie's relationship with Nyarai is the opposite of Muko, in a very depressing sense. Their relationship is explored in a flashback scene prior to Muko and Cookie's first meeting.
    • Cookie is so poor that she has to ask Nyarai, her client, for money. Nyarai refuses on the ground that it's her money and that Cookie has to find her a suitable partner.
    • Nyarai's is openly disrespectful of Cookie, insulting her living and working conditions, and even kicking a dent in a locker door near Cookie's head just because the squirrel asked her to respect her as a manager.
    • Cookie, fed up with Nyarai's disrespect, points out that Nyarai needs her as much as Cookie needs her, pointing out that not many agencies accept Wild Combagals regardless of their talents. Unfortunately, Nyarai believes that Cookie pulled a "Wild Card" on her, stomping the squirrel to the ground and giving her a "The Reason You Suck" Speech and a threat to quit her agency and fight any fighter Cookie represents if her demands are not met.
      • The fact that Cookie still said her Catchphrase despite Nyarai stomping her to the ground and grinding her head underfoot shows how much Height Angst Cookie has if she said it even when scared.
      • Nyarai's violent reaction shows that she was a victim of the "Wild Card" at some point n the past.

Chapter 8: Crossed Wires

  • Poor Mellow's attempts to hook up with Muko are pitiable. First of all, it's the fact that he has No Social Skills (like her, to be fair) that gets him to embarrass himself in front of his crush. Then, Muko rejects him with Brutal Honesty when he makes his feelings clear. Finally, he gets to hang out with her by taking her to the match between Fenny and Roora, only for Muko to take advantage of him and not return his calls after giving him her phone number.
    • The fact that even without these mistakes, Mellow's crush on Muko is bound to fail due to Incompatible Orientation getting in the way of his feelings since Muko is only interested in girls.
  • Harry revealing that there is an article in the Internet about Muko, more specifically about her fight with Kalita at Cafe Carrots, but it's only filled with mean comments. Mellow's reaction is one of horror upon finding out what happened to his friend/crush and the ramifications of the event.
  • Mellow trying to call Muko about what happened at Cafe Carrots, and even trying to warn her about Cookie's bad reputation, only for Muko to hang up on him because she's training by playing videogames.
  • Muko and Saniko's argument at the end of the chapter.
    • Saniko enters the room and finds her younger sister with her face covered in bandages. It's her first time seeing Muko since her fight with Kalita so her shock and horror is genuine.
    • Saniko believes that furry fighting is just a phase. She recalls a moment where Muko entered competitive eating and lost. Muko entered into a mild depression and locked herself into her room, binge eating until she turned into a fat blob. Saniko was forced to take care of Muko until she returned to normal.
    • Muko sounds a bit resentful when recalling how Cookie believes she can be a Combagal, looking at Saniko for not believing in her.
    • Saniko's outburst as she breaks a base and calls out Muko for going out pursuing random hobbies while she's busy overworking to sustain both of them.
    • Muko telling Saniko that she's not their mother with a very uncharacteristic coldness.
      • It's the second time that Muko's mother is mentioned, and the first time she's mentioned by Muko herself, but it shows how beloved she must have been to Muko and Saniko if the former is mad at the latter for trying to emulate her and the latter wants to honor her by trying to raise the former as best as she can.
  • Muko looking at a picture of herself and Nyarai saying that she lost because she was alone but this time she has someone who will protect her. It says something that, behind Muko's perverted antics, she does want and value friendship.
    • Nyarai pushing Muko away from her in the selfie with Muko unaware of her instant dislike. It's clear that their partnership won't be a happy one.

Chapter 9: Are You Even A Woman?

  • The fact that Skully, one of the Cyclone Crushers working for Shun Gonfano, was one of Cookie's clients. It's kind of depressing knowing that Cookie used to be the manager of a professional fighter and now she's forced to do her manager work at a soapland.
    • A flashback scene shows that two workers at Monyan were about to be raped until Skully saves them. While the rapists didn't do anything due to Skully stopping them on time, the terror in their faces is still evident.
  • A bit of sadness, but when Muko tells Cookie that she's a 2 out of 10 for putting makeup. Cookie points out it stings. It's clear that while her height is her main point of sensitivity, being called unattractive by someone as girl-crazy as Muko hurt her self-esteem a bit.

Chapter 10: Shady Business

  • Cookie bribing Dinedon is kind of funny due to the repeated use of Imagine Spot until one thinks how bad Cookie's situation truly is. She's in ever-increasing debt. She's forced to take a loan from a Loan Shark and forced to commit the morally dubious act of bribing someone to win a match, and her Combagals are an inexperienced amateur who looks up to her and a professional who looks down on her. As much as Cookie calculated the risks and is preparing each step to make the debut match of Team Deliverance a guaranteed win, she's still nervous with every step.
  • Dinedon mentions that even if Team Deliverance wins the Masato Championship, it won't erase Cookie's mistakes from two years ago. He then goes on to mention Trilamity Day, which puts everyone in a somber mood.
    • The fact that even Nyarai, who was acting smugly in the background, frowns a bit, shows how badly that day was in the history of furry fighting.
  • Cookie reading the article of Muko on Nyarai's phone. It's filled with libel that insults both Muko and Cookie as it details how poorly Muko performed against Kalita.
  • Nyarai calling out Cookie for not fulfilling her promise (finding her a worthy partner and settling for an amateur) and probably being ready to ditch her until Adelgund takes the phone, reads the article, and decides she wants Muko as an opponent.
  • Peki, Adelgund's partner, looks depressed when Adelgund says that she likes Muko.

Chapter 11: Ding! Ding! Debut!

  • The chapter begins with Rinko, a rabbit Combagal defeating her opponent with a moonsault. As she celebrates her victory, her opponent is crying in the background. A reminder that not everyone who enters into a sport will win regardless of how hard they try.
  • Snuggly trying to fight Tanka Talon and being given a swift Curb-Stomp Battle that leaves her crying in tears. Even with her fans supporting her, one still feels sorry for her.
  • Cookie giving an introductory speech for Team Deliverance. Unfortunately, nobody cares about it due to her short height not giving it the necessary impact. Some hecklers even call her a child.
    • During a brief moment, Muko notices some fans with signs that have hateful messages written about Cookie. She doesn't get to read them because she's busy seeing Mellow and Harry. That being said, it shows how Hated by All Cookie has by this point of the story.
  • Muko being nervous rather than excited when she comes out the smoke and prepares to enter the ring. It's a strong contrast to her usual self. She only calms down when she notices Mellow and Harry at the audience when she calms down.

Chapter 12: Selling

  • Muko's sheer terror facing Adelgund. While it's Played for Laughs most of the time, she's getting treated around like a rag doll by a large wrestler with a crush on her so Muko spends most of her debut match scared out of her mind.
  • Muko asking Nyarai to tag in so that Muko can get away from Adelgund. Nyarai turns her back on her and even snores as Adelgund keeps playing with Muko. The look on Muko's face is one of pure betrayal.
    • Cookie's silent outrage at Nyarai for refusing to tag in and letting Muko face Adelgund alone.
  • Muko's slow realization that Adelgund pinned her down and that the referee is counting to ten. It's kind of disheartening when your first match ends that quickly. It later turns into a funny moment when Adelgund gives Muko a "Take That!" Kiss and Muko breaks the hold with a kick to the face.

Chapter 13: Judging

  • Muko calling Nyarai her friend is this by the end of the chapter. At first, it is because Nyarai does not reciprocate the friendship, but then it gets sadder by the end. See further below on this and then on Chapter 14.
  • Shun Gonfano arrives to the match and shows a recording of Cookie bribing Dinedon. This worsens Cookie's reputation as she gets angry and judgmental looks from the entire audience.
  • Shun bringing the Cyclone Crushers as his bodyguards. This shocks Cookie who calls them her girls. While Chapter 9 had Tasha refer to Skully as one of Cookie's Combagals, the realization that ALL of Cookie's Combagals are part of the Cyclone Crushers is disheartening.
    • A sad part is that when the recording is played, a couple of them glare at Cookie with disgust and disappointment for resorting to such tactic, not realizing that they're doing the same thing.
  • Nyarai confirming her loyalty to Shun by betraying Team Deliverance. She then convinces Peki to join her by pointing out how Shun is the only one who gives Wilds a chance.
    • There's something sad that the comic's equivalent of a Yakuza shows more sympathy for the Wilds as individuals than most of the cast.
  • Peki betraying Adelgund, telling her she won't live in her shadow anymore as she joins Nyarai.

Chapter 14: Unfolding

  • The whole chapter is a tearjerker after another as Muko and Cookie are hit by Nyarai's betrayal.
    • Muko snapping from her lust trance and realizing that Nyarai is her enemy. She tries to call Nyarai her friend, only for Nyarai to pounce on the bunny and slam her head on the ground.
    • Nyarai being a Hopeless Boss Fight just like Kalita but up to eleven as she tortures Muko physically and emotionally while Kalita only focused on knocking Muko out. It borders on Nightmare Fuel as Muko is clearly suffering.
    • Muko asks Nyarai why she betrayed them in tears, only for Nyarai to insult her for believing in Cookie, telling her that the squirrel is a "dream killer" and insulting her for believing in Cookie.
    • Nyarai slamming Muko's head on the floor hard and so many times until she bleeds, causing Muko to cry and call for her mom.
    • Cookie trying to reason with Nyarai, only for Nyarai to point out she was The Mole who spied on her and she even recorded the meeting to incriminate Cookie. The poor squirrel is left in tears by the revelation.
  • Why is Nyarai so loyal to Shun? He did a favor to her involving a piece of her past and that got her Undying Loyalty to him. It shows that Nyarai has a Dark and Troubled Past if she resorted to Shun Gonfano, which Cookie points out is akin to a Deal with the Devil just to get out of trouble.
  • Why did Nyarai join Cookie just to betray her? Well, she did it out of Revenge for the "life she took". This causes Cookie to think of Freydar with a haunted look on her face.
    • The fact that Nyarai loved/admired Freydar so much that she went so far as to hire the manager that "took her life" in order to get revenge for her shows how much her loss hurt Nyarai.
    • Nyarai's betrayal is also tragic in the sense that she threatened to do so if Cookie didn't find her a suitable partner. However, it's clear that Nyarai was clearly intending to betray Cookie regardless of whether she fulfilled her promise or not.
  • Cookie calling out the referee for not stopping Nyarai from brutalizing Muko, only for him to yell at her. Cookie realizes that Shun bribed him. It's a horrible thought knowing your Arch-Enemy is willing to go that far to hurt you, especially when Nyarai could probably end the fight when she wanted.
  • Besides Harry and Mellow, Shira went to Muko's debut and she cries at the brutality.
  • Cookie having a breakdown as with Muko's defeat and Nyarai's betrayal, she's ruined. She's only conformed when Adelgund tags in and decides to fight Nyarai on her own.

Chapter 15: Cracking

  • Jowdie crying in worry after Adelgund knocks out Nyarai with a knee to the face. Despite their loyalty and actions, it's clear that the Cyclone Crushers are True Companions and that Jowdie is the nicest of them all.
  • The past of Peki and Adelgund since the readers can see how their partnership broke apart.
    • Adelgund believing that the reason why nobody wants matches with her is because of her masculine appearance. It becomes a positive tearjerker when Peki reassures her and tells her that she only needs to control her strength resulting in them becoming the Masato champions a few years later.
    • Dinedon blaming the lack of matches with Team Executor, one year after they become champions, on Peki as Fantastic Racism made people suspicious of Wilds. His idea is to force Peki to undergo a Faceā€“Heel Turn where she tries to take Adelgund's belt and have Adelgund defeat her to relieve those fears. Peki refuses, but Adelgund accepts on her behalf. The next scene has an angry and humiliated Peki jeered by the crowd as she's about to fight a fixed match against her partner.
      • It is implied that, as a result of losing that fight, Peki lost her own belt.
    • Another flashback has Peki covered in bruises, which she got from amateur Combagals going all out on her. Adelgund's reaction was to tell her to suck it up, which hurt Peki's feelings as she wanted some sympathy for everything she endured for her partner's sake.
      • It's a bit more tragic when seeing the beginning of the flashbacks and realizing that Adelgund always talked about her problems and Peki listened to them to make her feel better. In this occasion, Adelgund didn't even bother to listen at all to Peki's concerns, especially when she was the one who got her in the problem in the first place.

Chapter 16: Breaking

  • A flashback reveals that Peki was going to undergo a Heelā€“Face Turn as payment for Team Executor letting Team Deliverance win the belt. Adelgund loved Peki so much that she was willing to sacrifice the belt as long as both of them got to fight as a Face team again. Unfortunately for Adelgund, it was a bit too late.
    • Peki angrily punches Adelgund after the flashback, pointing out she betrayed her first. Adelgund can only touch her cheek and mutter "my little penguin" in heartbreak, clearly not understanding where did all go wrong.
  • Peki reveals the last straw. She caught Adelgund being pleasured by the stripper, which she then made into the latest member of the Exe-Cutie-Ves. She then asks her if that is what it takes to become one of her personal assistants.
    • Peki asking that question implies that she believes that Adelgund created the Exe-Cutie-Ves for her own pleasure. Having witnessed the latest member have sex with Adelgund probably raised a question she's been asking herself for years.
    • Adelgund attempts to defend herself by pointing out that the stripper came onto her, which infuriates Peki as she angrily recalls Adelgund enjoying herself and then gives her a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown fueled by years of betrayal.
  • Adelgund crossing the Moral Event Horizon by breaking Peki's arm, becoming a Broken Pedestal to the audience and reaching a Hated by All status with her actions.
    • Adelgund's fans destroying her merchandise as they watch Adelgund keep brutalizing Peki.
  • When Nyarai wakes up and asks Peki to tag her in, Adelgund steps on Peki's leg, pointing out that she's not a team player with tears in her eyes. It's clear that, while inexcusable, Adelgund is acting more out of broken heart and no longer cares about the match.
  • Peki crawling all the way from the center of the mat to the corner, finally tagging Nyarai in as she endures the assault of her former partner and lover.

Chapter 17: Unleashing

  • Peki being taken to the hospital, screaming all the time as she has a broken arm and two broken legs.
  • The fans still denouncing Adelgund, cheering for Nyarai to beat her despite the latter's brutality in her fight against Muko.
  • Nyarai snapping her own spine to the horror of everybody present.
    • Adelgund has a My God, What Have I Done? moment the second she thinks she crippled or killed Nyarai.
    • Jowdie and a few of the Cyclone Crushers cry in horror when they think their friend just got her spine snapped.
      • While it turned out Nyarai was fine due to having an Abnormal Limb Rotation Range that made her immune to submission holds, Nyarai keeping this a secret from her fellow Cyclone Crushers is a bit disheartening as she scared them with that feat she pulled.
  • Muko attempting to tag Adelgund as soon as she realizes that she won't be able to beat Nyarai's Leg-Jet Burst. Cookie attempts to stop Muko, telling Adelgund is not worth it since she sacrificed her popularity by breaking Peki's limbs, but Muko still believes in Adelgund by pointing out she only pretends to hurt others.
    • Adelgund, recognizing how far she fallen after hearing Muko, and not wanting her to pull a Senseless Sacrifice decides to take Nyarai's final blown using the last pages prior to the final one to give Muko advice on how to become a Combagal.

Chapter 18: Falling

  • The chapter opens with the aftermath of Nyarai's final blow on Adelgund. The former champion's unconscious body falls to the mat. Then, Nyarai's foot stomps on her face... so that the cheetah can pose for her victory.
  • Cookie and Shun exchange glares. The sad part comes in Cookie's glare. The Masato match was supposed to be Cookie's comeback and yet, in one fell swoop, Shun not only stole, but cheated all of it out of her.
  • Nyarai not knowing how to react to people cheering for her since people don't care about Wilds until Shun hails her as a hero.
  • The Exe-Cutie-Ves crying over the defeated body of Adelgund, who's in critical condition with white eyes and a broken jaw.
  • Cookie calling out Dinedon for betraying Team Executor to Shun Gonfano the second he gave him a better pay than money.
    • Just how much of a Bad Boss Dinedon is. Despite everything Adelgund and Peki did, Adelgund especially, he did not hesitate to put them in a match where they will lose just so that he could get the money for himself.
  • Muko keeping the collar Adelgund gave her when they became partners as a Tragic Keepsake and looking at it in guilt.
  • Cookie talking about Freydar with Muko. While she didn't kill her, Cookie overworked her, leading to a Career-Ending Injury involving painkillers that will make her blind if she fights again.
    • As Cookie talks about Freydar, some Cyclone Crushers appear on the background, all of them sporting a Death Glare as if blaming Cookie for what she did to Freydar.
  • Muko's disappointment in Cookie for not telling her the truth. However, her disappointment is bigger on herself because she was the lesser contribution on the match whereas the other three Combagals at least played their role. Cue the Wham Line that ends the chapter.
    Muko: "I quit."
  • The last page of the chapter are a younger Adelgund and Peki on a date, which serves as a sad reminder that their relationship as friends, lovers, and partners are over.

Chapter 19: Despite Everything

  • The chapter begins with a brief Time Skip as Cookie still is stuck in the Despair Event Horizon days after Nyarai's betrayal and Muko quitting. She only snaps out of it when Saniko visits.
  • Saniko revealing that Muko is suffering a Heroic BSoD and that she hasn't got out of her room for days so she wants Cookie to talk to her as she's her last resort.
    • Cookie initially refusing to talk to Muko out of guilt and only doing so when Saniko threatens to call the cops on her for having Muko fight Kalita and then Nyarai despite her lack of experience.
  • Cookie acknowledging that it was her fault that Cookie got hurt, pointing out that she shouldn't have relied on Nyarai to win the fight against Team Executor before telling her how she first hit the Despair Event Horizon two years before the series began.
    • As it turns out, Shun didn't steal the Cyclone Crushers and they didn't left Cookie. She sold them out. Cookie assumed they were going to leave her since they were mad at her for what happened to Freydar so she sold them out.
    • Cookie not getting any job despite all the money she had. She resorted to Drowning My Sorrows so much that she briefly became The Alcoholic to the point of ripping out her hair and parts of her eyebrows.
    • A drunk Cookie entering Club Nighthawk and making a fool of herself in front of Shun and her former Combagals, who reproach her, now seeing her as a Broken Pedestal for selling them out.
  • Muko and Cookie's reunion after Muko returns as a Combagal and agrees to make Cookie her manager again is a happy kind of tearjerker.
  • Cookie watching in awkwardness the family fight between Muko and Saniko, feeling guilty for causing it.
  • Muko calling out Saniko for loving her too much, which hurts her feelings. Saniko agrees to let Muko be a Combagal, but she doesn't want her living in her apartment anymore.
  • Kalita returning and revealing she's a Loan Shark who's collecting the 20,000 Moni Cookie loaned a few chapters ago. While the volume has a Bittersweet Ending for Muko and Cookie, it's clear the two of them have lots of bad luck coming their way in the future.

     Part 3: Bully

Chapter 20: Killer Overture

  • Snuggly returns and has A Day in the Limelight but her opponent is Sleepy, who was her former singing partner in the Doable Dolls.
    • Sleepy becoming a Combagal to fight Snuggly for breaking up The Doable Dolls shows how much Sleepy valued their singing duo and how Snuggly leaving it to become a Combagal felt like a betrayal to her.
    • Sleepy exploiting Snuggly's love of bones to land the first blow is not just pragmatism, is also a bit treacherous when she knows how Snuggly would react because they were friends.
    • Watching Sleepy and Snuggly fight brutally and learning that they fought for 20 minutes can be disheartening as it can remind how friendships can fall apart once people drift in interests,
  • Despite their intense match, Snuggly still considers Sleepy their best friend. Even as they go to deliver the final blow, Snuggly looks conflicted at the idea of hurting her.

Chapter 21: The Streak

  • As it turns out Cookie still has one week to pay off her debt. Sadly, Kalita shows Cookie the loan paper with Cookie's forged signature.
  • Why is Cookie called Misfortune Cookie? Because she resorted to gambling to pay off her debts but she's been on a two-year long losing streak. Not only that, everybody who works with her is affected by her bad luck so Cookie is treated as The Jinx by everybody.
  • Muko facing Kalita again. Despite taking the fight seriously this time, Muko still ends up losing, being sent flying into a bathtub and then melting at the sight of two beautiful ladies.
  • Handsome Zebra Guy recalling Saniko sporting a Death Glare when asking for Cookie's whereabouts, obviously to ask her to fix Muko in Chapter 19. Makes one feel sorry for her after her fight with Muko when one realizes how much she cares about her little sister.

Chapter 22: The Grit

  • Muko breaking down in tears as she tells Cookie she underwent a Lustful Melt because she daydreamed of Kalita and the soapland workers having a threesome despite being in the middle of a fight with the biker vixen. This is the first time Muko acknowledges her Fatal Flaw and how it will hamper her dream of being a Combagal, with her looking close to giving up again.
    • Kalita pointing out her disappointment of Muko, referring to her by name and telling her she expected better. It shows that a part of Kalita still holds Villain Respect for Muko and feels let down for Muko not standing up for what she believes like she did when they first fought.
  • Muko having flashbacks of all the people who looked down or hurt her, with implications that she has some sort of PTSD from the abuse she endured.
    • She resents Saniko for considering her an Annoying Younger Sibling who refuses to grow up, unaware that Saniko loves Muko and that she hasn't made it easier to raise her.
    • It is implied that she resents the Cafe Carrots maids because a part of her was still conscious when they were badmouthing her for losing to Kalita.
      • The worst part is that Shira is there despite being the only one grateful for Muko's efforts, trying to pay her for her role in defending the cafe, and actually assisting her first match, even crying when Nyarai was beating Muko up. It makes Shira's presence undeserved as Muko is resenting her for nothing.
    • Muko loathes Nyarai not only for betraying her and Cookie, but also for the beating she gave her and the sense of powerlessness she instilled on Muko during the Masato match. The fact that Nyarai is the only one grinning shows how Muko remembers the suffering Nyarai enjoyed inflicting on Muko, Cookie, and Adelgund during that match.
    • Muko is also angry at Kalita, not only for trying to hurt Cookie, but reminding Muko how her lust is her greatest weakness, rubbing it on her face and looking down on her as a fighter.
    • There is a naked woman smiling and extending her hand at Muko. She is implied to be Muko's first love. However, considering that the next panel is blurry and that Muko spends the comic openly lusting after other girls, it is implied that their relationship did not end well.
  • Cookie acknowledging Muko as her last lifeline can be a tearjerker upon remembering her background and the two previous parts. Her reputation is lower than ever, her former Combagals see her as a Broken Pedestal and work with her Arch-Enemy to destroy her, and she only has one Combagal who supports her despite zero fighting skills. That Combagal is someone she failed and discovered she failed more than once and yet still forgave her, which is why Cookie is desperate to not have Muko give up. If she loses Muko, she loses everything. Fortunately, Muko gets a Heroic Second Wind and the chapter ends with her about to continue the fight.

Chapter 23: The Rumbling

  • Kalita defeating Muko with a One-Hit Kill is kinda depressing after the previous chapter. It's a sad reminder that The Power of Love or The Power of Friendship won't be enough to make a difference when it really matters.
  • Kalita tells Cookie that she quit the Roda Kira Gang is a bit sad considering how proud she was to be a member, Cookie even lampshades that she was a founding member.
  • Cookie and Muko's desperation when Kalita refuses to join their team, clinging to her leg and begging her.
  • Cookie revealing that the Tendonchi Champions are Skully and Bolouma, two members of the Cyclone Crushers who worked for her.

Chapter 24: The Clearing

  • Muko's face when Kalita calls her a "pathetic loser" for why she doesn't trust her as a partner. She immediately challenges her to a rematch a week from now to prove her worthiness to her. It shows how insecure Muko has become regarding her strength after the events of Part 2.
  • Muko's bravado disappearing as she realizes that she won't be able to defeat Kalita in one week and the damage from their fight starts to kick in. She only gets better when Cookie comforts her.
  • Cookie's lack of foresight is exemplified by her walking alone on a mist and only finding a clear path by regaining it thanks to Muko's fighting spirit. While it's heartwarming, it's also sad considering how Cookie's poor choices were made because she lacked or lost the bond she had with her Combagals compared to the one she had with Muko.
  • Cookie and Muko trying to join gyms and getting rejected multiple times without explanation. At first, Cookie puts a cheery facade, but by the third time, she reaches the Rage Breaking Point and Muko has to comfort her.
  • The new Spotter article is specifically designed to hurt Muko by throwing all of her past mistakes into her face, on public, right after her Character Development in the most humiliating Laser-Guided Karma possible.
    • The article starts by having Miho, the stripper who seduced Adelgund doubt Muko's status as a Combagal, even going as far as to show a picture of Nyarai dominating her back from Chapter 14 as if to rub salt on the wound.
    • Roora, one of the two Combagals, who inspired Muko to join furry fighting, only remembers her as a perverted fan who barged into the shower rooms to see her naked.
    • Mel and Tunky don't hesitate to bash Muko despite her taking a beating from Kalita to protect them by telling Miho about Muko trying to steal their underwear.
      • Shira looking guilty and sad as her friends badmouth Muko. She knows this is wrong, but she can't bring herself to defend Muko unless she destroys her own personal life in the process.
    • The end of the chapter reveals that Muko dropped out of high school when she was 17, eighteen months prior to the events of this chapter, after she had a Teacher/Student Romance with her school teacher who also was her First Love.
      • Muko's teacher revealing that her affair with Muko cost her a lot: her job, her marriage, and her sons. She's so desperate for a second chance that she resorts to using Muko as The Scapegoat by claiming that she tricked her into thinking she was a lesbian, effectively damaging Muko's reputation further.

Chapter 25: The Taste Of Pancakes

  • The chapter begins as soon as Cookie finishes reading the Spotter article. As soon as she turns around to comfort Muko, she finds out Muko's already gone, showing how much the article hurt her feelings.
  • Muko talking with Cookie about her relationship with Matroshka, sounding forlorn about it. Despite having being betrayed, Muko still acknowledges Matroshka as her First Love and can't bring herself to hate her.
    • Cookie asking Muko if she wants to talk about her relationship with Matroshka. This causes Muko to become shy and defensive. Cookie even infers that Muko must have some sort of dark secret regarding the relationship but chooses not to pry out of respect for her Combagal.
  • The last pages showing Saniko at home as they give a clearer definition of her character.
    • She checks on the Spotter article of Muko and is horrified that they went so far to humiliate her younger sister like that.
    • Her talk with her father, Bill, is tragic as he talks about returning to work, only for Saniko to lecture him about his smoking habits. And then he starts giving her warnings about conspiracy theories. The chapter ends with Saniko giving her father a worried look.
    • Saniko's home situation makes her earlier interactions with Muko Harsher in Hindsight since she's forced to sacrifice her youth by covering up for her father's role as head of the household, raise her sister, and still be a good worker. This makes her emotional outburst with Muko harder to watch.
  • Bill Bunburger, the father of Muko and Saniko, can hit a bit close to those who have older relatives who were active and then let themselves go due to depression.
    • A few years before the story started, he was the Employee of the Year of 1993. Now he's unemployed, his oldest daughter has to work in his place, and he's apparently unaware that his younger daughter left home.

Chapter 26: Daylight

  • The chapter opens with a dream/flashback of Kalita during her time in the Roda Kira Gang. As she rides her bike on the night, she's joined by two bikers who are implied to be the other Captains and founders of the gang. Kalita laughs and speeds up into the road...before waking up in her room, clearly disappointed with her life.
    • The dream/flashback becomes more poignant when Kalita acted as if quitting the gang was no big deal. As the first pages showed, it was a big deal.
  • Kalita's segment in the chapter. Unlike Cookie and Muko, where either of them try to stay positive despite the adversities they face over the day, Kalita looks depressed as she moves throughout the day.
    • Kalita giving her former subordinates, who are injured a Death Glare on sight. It is implied that she hurt them and that their last meeting was far from pleasant.
    • Finding out that Kalita is an orphan and a high school student makes the chapter a bit hard after reading it from beginning to end. As a high school senior, Kalita was never adopted. She's never had a true family. The closest thing she had was the Roda Kira Gang. And she left it. She didn't leave her biker gang. She left her family as well.

Chapter 27: Playtime Is Over

  • The flashback briefly shows Muko, Cookie, and Nyarai before their debut match. Watching Muko hyping herself up is distressing when her partner will betray her, beat her up, and hospitalize her second partner in front of her...in a single night.
  • Kalita's clear distress as she talks about how the Roda Kira Gang changed since Debbie left and Gantus became leader. It's clear she's been holding out these feelings for over a year and it hurt her to go along with Gantus and his plans.
    • She's forced to accept rival gang members, is acknowledged as a criminal on the newspaper rather than respected as a biker, and forced to do criminal acts.
  • Kalita bitterly recalling that Leyline, her fellow founder is not supporting her because Gantus took advantage of his glue addiction to give him worse stuff.
    • Kalita's tone suggests that she's not mad at Leyline for betraying her but mad at Gantus for taking advantage of him by exploiting his addictions.
  • Kalita's outburst after finding out that Debbie left the biker lifestyle to marry her doctor and have a family. It is followed by a brief moment of guilt upon finding out Debbie's pregnant and she nearly hurt the baby.
  • Debbie breaking down in tears at the end of her argument with Kalita. She loves her like a sister and it hurts Debbie to see Kalita so obsessed with a gang that lost its way a long time ago. Sadly, her preaching about family coupled with her earlier drinking despite her pregnancy only drove Kalita away.
    • Kalita's reaction when Debbie mentions family. It causes Debbie to flinch and apologize, having forgotten that Kalita is an orphan.
  • Kalita visiting a park that she and the Roda Kira Gang visited during the night and fondly remembering her time with Debbie and Leyline. She sadly realizes that she will never go back to those days.
  • The ending of the chapter has Kalita see the Roda Kira Gang that she tried to save commit their most deplorable act yet: they attack homeless people and burn their shelter. The look of shock and horror in Kalita's face is palpable.
    • Among the members attacking the innocents are Geffan and Banske, the subordinates of Kalita and her classmates. Seeing her peers who are supposed to share the same values as her captain throw them away to surrender themselves to their lower instincts makes one understand why Kalita was mad at them in the previous chapter.
    • Kalita's situation: She's got a severe case of Broken Pedestal from Debbie and then the Roda Kira Gang. The only thing she can do now to vent her frustration is fight Gantus, the man who ruined her life by corrupting her gang and crippling her leader, despite her belief that she couldn't beat him by herself at the beginning of the chapter.

Chapter 28: The World's Biggest Asshole

  • Remember the injuries that Geffan and Banske had in Chapter 26? It turns out it was Kalita who gave those injuries to them.
    • Kalita starts the beating by hitting Geffan in the arm with his own bat in a Tranquil Fury while sporting a disappointed frown as he's agonizing. She then becomes more vocal with Banske for trying to justify their actions by saying that they were following orders.
      • Kalita's anger and disappointment is more palpable when one remembers that Geffan and Banske are not only her subordinates but also her schoolmates. Kalita probably expected them to have standards like her, only to be let down when those two also loved having Gantus as a leader because it meant following their lowest instincts.
    • After taking out Geffan and Banske, Kalita turns around and swears to beat up all of the members of the Roda Kira Gang, saying they no longer deserve the name. It shows how much the gang let down Kalita as she expected them to have some moral compass rather than following Gantus if it meant throwing out their ideals.
  • Kalita ordering a raccoon to leave, who pauses when he remembers her as a runaway he met many years ago. One has to wonder what kind of horrible life Kalita had if she ran away from home rather than being an orphan.
    • Kalita's face in the flashback. She has a cut on her cheek and she's giving a Death Glare despite being a child while living in a cardboard box on winter. It's a sad living condition for a child.
  • Leyline has his official debut and it shows that, just like Debbie, he's different from the tough biker Kalita remembers. He's constantly drugged, Gantus gropes him publicly, and he doesn't mind the destruction the gang is creating despite going against the principles he had when he made it with Debbie and Kalita.
    • Kalita watching as Gantus gropes Leyline in front of her, reacting with anger and disgust. It's clear that one part of her is disgusted with Leyline for falling so low, but another part of her is angry at Gantus for doing that to her fellow founder.
  • Gantus expelling Kalita from the Roda Kira Gang. Even though Kalita doesn't respect Gantus as a leader, she's shocked and hurt that Gantus expelled her when she was one of its founders and contributors long before he joined them.
    • A brief part, but Leyline turning around to look at Kalita despite still being drugged. It shows that a part of him still cares about her, but he can't show it because the drugs prevent him from consciously showing that side of him.
  • After defeating Kalita, Gantus gives her a Hannibal Lecture calling her out as a bully who fights people weaker than her and is scared of people stronger than her.
    • Leyline leading the rest of the Roda Kira Gang to laugh at Kalita's defeat despite their history together.
  • Kalita running away from Gantus after their fight is over. In a single night, Kalita was disappointed by her fellow founders, her subordinates, her gang, and turned into a laughingstock by Gantus.
    • Knowing that at the same time Kalita was being destroyed by Gantus, Cookie and Muko were being traumatized by Shun's schemes and Nyarai's brutality.

Chapter 29: Nightshine

  • Cookie's worry after Kalita shows up before the two-week deadline and Muko is ready to fight her. She's scared as Muko has not finished her training yet. And that's not counting how Muko got beat up by Kalita twice by Cookie's mistakes (having her fight bikers to promote her and making a large loan). Fortunately, Kalita is not there to fight.
  • Cookie feeling tense around the casino. It's a sore reminder that Cookie was forced to rely on gambling after the Freydar fiasco and that's the main reason she's on debts after two years rather than lack of work.
    • Cookie rejecting a glass of alcohol offered to her, even turning her head away to avoid temptation. It's clear that she's remembering how trying to drink her problems away destroyed the last bits of love and respect her Combagals used to have for her.
  • Cookie's obvious stress, despite being portrayed in a comical fashion, when Kalita reveals she's betting her money on roulette.
    • Cookie's thoughts admitting that she no longer has her foresight, which she reclaimed a few chapters ago. She's so scared of losing that she can barely peek the result.
    • Cookie losing 19,995 Moni that Kalita lost because she won her bet. The first time she needed to lose, she won and lost most of her money.
      • While it's sweet, there's something sad about Muko congratulating Cookie for her first victory in two years. Cookie has been in such a losing streak, that she hasn't won at anything for years.
    • Muko betting the last 10 Moni that Cookie has on Red despite Cookie's protests. She believes that Cookie's curse can be broken if she believes in victory. She ends up losing.
  • Cookie crying over her newly doubled debt, even wishing for a drink despite that costing her the love and respect of her former Combagals two years ago. Thankfully, Muko is a good comfort system.
  • Muko trying to fight Kalita and fainting. This causes Cookie to think that Cookie probably is still injured from the head pounding Nyarai gave her. Luckily, Muko is just hungry.
    • As Cookie remembers the fight, there is a panel of Nyarai laughing while Muko is crying and bleeding from the beating she is receiving.
  • The reactions of Saniko and Mellow after finding out that Muko returned to furry fighting are one of pure concern. They already saw Muko get hurt before, especially because of her association with Cookie, and now they're going to watch her go at it again.
    • Despite being happy for her return, the life of Harry doesn't look like a happy one. He's overweight from eating pizza and he's recently divorced as seen by the divorce papers.
  • The Reveal that it was Freydar who wanted Cookie's career destroyed and that Shun only did his actions against Cookie to keep her as a trainer for the Cyclone Crushers. When that failed, Freydar, despite her injury, quits her retirement to destroy Cookie.

Chapter 30: Facades

  • The flashback sequence introducing Ida becomes this as it reaches the end.
    • Ida meets Freydar, who looks different than the previous chapter. She's happier and helpful to the hedgehog. It's tragic to know that, one year later, a mistake from Cookie will destroy her career at its summit, turning her into an angry shell of her former self.
    • Ida getting rejected by Cookie, who calls her useless because her quills will hurt her rivals and drive them away from her. For an extra kick, Ida looks like she had nowhere to go and Cookie only cares about herself.
    • Cookie selfishly rejecting Ida is this. She became a manager to help Combagals fulfill her dreams. However, she she meets Ida, who had the same dream she had as a child, Cookie shows no sympathy as she destroys her dream.
  • After the flashback ends, Cookie introduces Ida as her friend. The hedgehog makes it clear that she doesn't consider Cookie as a friend, only a client. Cookie's expression as she walks is one of disappointment as she openly called Ida a friend back in Chapter 3.
  • Muko choosing a Cool Mask as part of her Combagal uniform. However, Cookie rejects it because it will make Muko look like a Heel if she wears it. She tells her that doing so will turn Adelgund's Heroic Sacrifice useless because she let herself be defeated by Nyarai to ensure Muko became a Face Combagal. Muko then tearfully puts the mask away.
    • This is also a Kick the Dog moment from Cookie as she brought a traumatic event from Muko's life (Adelgund's sacrifice) to guilt trip her into being a Face Combagal.
  • Cookie and Ida's conversation regarding Cookie's desire for a Face team. As Cookie starts a philosophical speech, Ida summarizes Cookie's problems. She's tired of being hated and wants to be loved again.
    • Ida's statement rings true when one remembers Cookie was one of the best managers in furry fighting. In a single night, she lost her fans, her fighters, her self-respect, and then started a downward spiral that kept going worse for two years. Even with Muko and Kalita as her Combagals, it's clear that Cookie wants a semblance of her former life.

Chapter 31: Challenges

  • The reappearance of Freydar is this in many levels, turning what was a lighthearted chapter into a saddening one.
    • While the crowd is happy to see Freydar again, she doesn't acknowledge and instead focuses on challenging Cookie. This is a heartbreaking contrast to the person she was three years ago in the flashback of the previous chapter.
    • Freydar strangling Golgadoo and throwing him for pointing out she's not supposed to fight because of her Career-Ending Injury is this due to how unnecessarily violent it was.
      • In the background, Stonk being scared upon seeing Golgadoo being hurt. Despite his maturity, Stonk is still a kid so he's not used to this kind of violence, especially if it's someone he knew.
    • Freydar telling Golgadoo that she can't feel any joy anymore and she blames Cookie for her situation.
  • Cookie's reaction after watching the video. She looks haunted at having her former champion and living reminder of her failure as a manager return to destroy her.
    • The image of Fortune Cookie behind the current Cookie trying to incite her to take a drink. It shows that there's a hint of her old self buried beneath her despite her attempts to improve herself.
    • Cookie's decision to take the Tendonchi Challenges shows Character Development because she refuses to take shortcuts anymore. However, it is implied that she doesn't want to take Freydar's challenge out of shame and guilt as well as fear of facing her and two more Fortune Gals she used to manage.

Chapter 32: The Great Daikarin

  • The first page shows a magazine featuring the Doable Dolls as friends. Considering these two are currently fighting as enemies, it's sad to know that the chapter will show their falling out.
    • The first pages show Snuggly and Sleepy being the perfect pair. Not only were they the most popular Idol Singer duo of 1996, they became the Ankyono Champions. Now they sing and fight solo and it is implied that they are no longer champions.
  • The idol singing competition, especially with how many bad things happened there.
    • Sleepy, calling and crying to Snuggly, telling her that she overate chocolate from stress and she developed a Potty Emergency because of it. The last we see of Sleepy is her crying in the bathroom as she realizes that because of her, the dreams of the Doable Dolls are going down the toilet.
    • Borsha, the manager of the Doable Dolls becoming a Nervous Wreck because of Sleepy's absence. She then gives a sad, but accurate statement about show business regarding how celebrities fade into obscurity if they don't get enough attention.
  • Snuggly attempts to sing alone to make up for Sleepy's absence. Despite her bravery and putting her heart into it, the audience shows little appreciation, complaining for singing single or about Sleepy's absence.
    • Paipu attempts to help Snuggly by singing alongside her. However, he does so dressed in Sleepy's dress, disgusting the audience.
      • Paipu enjoying himself so much that he doesn't realize the damage he did to Snuggly until the audience gives them zero applause, resulting in the Doable Dolls ending in last place.
  • Snuggly's Rage Breaking Point is very tragic. She worked hard to get where she was and everybody let her down. Sleepy got herself sick with diarrhea. The audience didn't care about her performance even without Paipu arriving. And Paipu made things worse with his help.
    • Paipu breaking Snuggly's microphone to save her from herself. For one thing, it shows the disappointment he feels at his student for letting her personal feeling interfere with her duties as an entertainer. On the other hand, it shows that it was in vain as the audience did listen and lost their respect for Snuggly.
  • Snuggly's empty expression as she takes off her bow and steps on it while she's booed by the crowd. It is implied by Cookie that she temporarily lost her sanity before recovering and making a new persona that made her more popular, but it's still sad that she had to go through that.
  • Paipu getting fired by Borsha after the fiasco. It's clear that deep down, a part of him feels bad for having failed Snuggly like that.
    • Becomes a happy tearjerker when Paipu found happiness by transitioning into the Transgender singer Daikarin. As a woman, Daikarin lives a happier life than Paipu ever had now that she can live her dream as a singer in a bar.

Chapter 33: The Smell Of Popcorn

  • The sheer amount of hard work and sacrifice that Mellow has to do to enter Club Nighthawk. He needs to take multiple jobs. But that's not enough. He actually has to sell all of his Combagal memorabilia. By the time he earns the money, he's still crying.
    • One of the things he sold was an autograph by Donkizari personally addressing him.
      • For extra kick, this is sad In-Universe as the salesman was a friend of Mellow and he was horrified and concerned at Mellow's decision to sell his collection to him.
  • Contrary to her first appearance in Chapter 6, Nyarai is shown boringly checking her phone. While she no longer has to hide her personality with fake smiling, she doesn't have a single customer on sight.
    • Mellow lampshades how he expected Nyarai to be a popular hostess after becoming a champion Combagal, earning a response from Nyarai asking him if he thinks she's unpopular with a sarcastic smile.
  • Nyarai bullying Mellow after easily figuring out his identity as one of Muko's few fans. It's both unnecessary and unfair as there's nothing that she and her fellow Cyclone Crushers have to hide that Mellow can exploit and she did spy on Cookie for months to discredit her in a title match she could have won anyway.
    • Mellow being forced to lie that he no longer has feelings for Muko and that he's a fan of Nyarai, the woman who gave her a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown and ruined her debut match, to save his own skin.
      • To hammer the point Mellow cries a long stream of tears and imagines a coffin being buried.
  • Jowdie reveals that Nyarai's victory has done little to reduce the Fantastic Racism against Wilds. Furthermore, her violent personality has driven customers away from her, affecting her hostess work too.
  • Nyarai reveals to Mellow that there's a second Spotter article ready to discredit Muko.
    • Miho returns...and this time she discredits Kalita by bringing up her destruction of Cafe Carrots and incriminating her for burning a park with the Roda Kira Gang.
      • To add insult to injury, one of the witnesses is the raccoon she protected back in Chapter 28, confirming to Miho that Kalita was with the gang.
  • Mellow's visible distress after seeing the article. Regardless of whether he's still in love with Muko or not, it's still hard for him to see someone he cares about be slandered like that.
    • Nyarai taking the chance to bully Mellow again. He's saddened by Muko's predicament and yet he doesn't get much time to process before Nyarai gets on his face, ready for another chance to hurt him.
  • Jowdie's popcorn paw idea has her suggesting Mellow smell Nyarai's feet to see if they smell like popcorn to prove if a rumor she heard about cat paws was true. Considering how Jowdie acted as Mellow's guardian angel, watching her put him on harm's way out of curiosity or amusement is distressing.
    • Nyarai grinning at Jowdie's idea, pointing at her feet and telling Mellow to beg for the honor. She even gives him a threatening glare to let him know that she's not asking but ordering him to humiliate himself to her.
    • Mellow asking Nyarai to smell her feet in resignation, earning sadistic looks from Nyarai and Jowdie as Nyarai's foot is placed in front of his nose.
      • The possibility that there may have been people watching as Mellow smelled Nyarai's paw. While Mellow earned Nyarai and Jowdie's respect, there's a chance that he made a fool of himself to anybody who walked in on his scene with Nyarai and Jowdie.

Chapter 34: Star

  • Since the chapter is an Origins Episode for the Roda Kira Gang, there will be some moments.
    • Watching Debbie and Leyline back then with Debbie being idealistic and Leyline having individuality makes the reader feel bad for what happened to them after reading Chapter 27 and Chapter 28.
    • Kalita's life was very lonely as she was angry and bitter. Then Debbie and Leyline gave her a purpose. It makes her losing the Roda Kira Gang all the more depressing.
    • The Foregone Conclusion that the dreams of the founders will never come true. Debbie "outgrew" her friends, Leyline is drugged out of his mind, and Kalita is lost with no purpose.
  • The first pages have some students make fun of Kalita for being an orphan, revealing that her parents were drug addicts who died by an overdose. It makes her disdain for family all the more understandable and her anger at Debbie for drinking while pregnant justified since it probably hit a sore spot.
  • After the flashback ends, Kalita is in front of a trash can. She is about to throw her beloved biker jacket, rationalizing that people hate the Roda Kira Gang now.
    • Her inner monologue is sad too as it shows that Kalita had no identity prior to the Roda Kira Gang. Now that she's leaving it, she wonders what's going to be left of her.
  • Seeing the Spotter editing the raccoon's testimony is disheartening, knowing that they defended Kalita but are unaware the journalists edited the footage to incriminate their hero.
  • Despite his Undying Loyalty to Shun Gonfano, Mr. Dings does have a passion for journalism and feels ashamed at having to hide the truth.
  • Harry suffered from Sanity Slippage after spending a long time defending Muko from her haters online. His breakdown is so bad that he believes murdering Miho is the only way to stop the hate.
    • While Miho being a horrible person is a valid point, Harry trying to resort to murder is a sad point as he's going to damage Muko's reputation further and he'll lose any chance of happiness by becoming a criminal.

Chapter 35: Killer

  • A happy tearjerker, but Snuggly and Sleepy reconciling is this.
  • Snuggly and Sleepy being powerless to defend themselves against Muko and Kalita. It's much worse because they are more concerned for each other than what's individually happening to them.
    • The Redoable Dolls feel betrayed when they find out Daikarin is the trainer of Team Star Killer. It's implied that they came to terms with Paipu's crossdressing stunt and are accepting of his transition to the woman Daikarin. However, it's clear that they feel betrayed that she helped the team who humiliated them rather than come back to them.
  • While they came to terms with it and are happy with their Heel personas, it's kind of saddening that Muko and Kalita were forced to pull a Faceā€“Heel Turn because the Spotter ruined their reputations for an indefinite amount of time.

     Part 4: Devastator

Chapter 36: A Place Of Your Own

Chapter 37: High Bump!

  • According to Ida, Cookie has a poor relationship with her father because of a Noodle Incident at some point after Trilamity Day. Cookie winces when Ida mentions it, especially when Ida points out that Cookie's father will probably refuse to help her after what happened last time they talked.
  • Just like Cookie, Daikarin has her own Redemption Quest to fulfill. In her case, she feels guilty for causing the breakup of the Doable Dolls by doing a crossdressing duet with Snuggly as the male Paipu. She recognizes that her actions were actually selfish, figuring out at one point that she cared more about performing on stage than helping her student. She eventually got peace of mind when Cookie came up with a plan to help the Doable Dolls reunite, making it up for her mistake.
  • Kalita bitterly thinks to herself that she has no idea of what to do with her life. Ida has her fashion career, Daikarin will return as a singer, and Muko and Cookie will continue with furry fighting. But Kalita is unsure of what to do with her life as she can't go back to being a biker, the Loan Shark lifestyle brought her no joy, and she's conflicted about going to college.
Kalita: (bitterly thinks to herself) You're all so busy making plans...while I have no idea where I'll be in half a year.
  • Muko reacts with slight fear when Daikarin mentions that she will have to learn how to take bumps as part of her training. It's clear that all of the beatings she took over the comic made her more self-conscious about the damage she's enduring.
  • Kalita goes back to the orphanage some time later and discovers that she lost her application. While Kalita reassures herself that she didn't mind about going to college, it's clear that she's upset at having a choice about her future taken away from her.
