Crossovers

  • Children of an Elder God: During her first deployment, Asuka lost her temper and ripped an Eldritch Abomination apart. Later on, Gendo criticized her actions, stating that fighting like an enraged berserker would get them all killed.
  • In the Worm/Gamer crossover Co-op Mode, James does this when he and Taylor end up overhearing Lung's plans on attacking the Undersiders. Amusingly, this leads him into getting a <Fool's Act> skill.
  • In the Worm and DC crossover Echoes of Yesterday, Kara rapidly gains a reputation of being an impulsive and reckless hero who gets into fights which she should stay away from.
Colin Wallis, or as most of the world knew him, Armsmaster, had had a long day. Though he was no stranger to the chaotic nature that was the norm for the city, that day in particular had tested his patience. Several brief eruptions of gang violence, a fire that had threatened to burn down a good chunk of the downtown district, and a new cape that seemed to employ 'leap before you look' as a personal philosophy.
  • In Infinity Crisis, this is basically invoked as a description of Casey Jones's fighting style; he isn't as technically skilled as some of the Turtles, but he makes up for it with sheer enthusiasm.
  • Last Child of Krypton: Subverted. Asuka tried to behave as a disciplined soldier and retreat when she was ordered… but when Shamshel’s whips impaled her mecha she went mad and tried to kill it there and then.
  • In The Last Son series, this is essentially the reason for Zod's defeat; while he is a tactical genius, Zod became so used to relying on his powers putting him above all of his potential opponents on Earth that he was unprepared for the heroes to catch him in a trap that drained his body’s solar energy reserves, bringing him down to a strength level where the heroes could more easily oppose him, particularly after they exposed his duplicity to Sentrius.
  • In Little Black Death Note Snape, Draco, and Blaise Zabini get into trouble while Dungeon Crawling and they just blast a wall with magic without checking for traps first.
  • Metal Gear: Green:
    • Fudaki charges into the battle trial to fight both Bakugou and Iida, with Bakugou doing the same strategy. The 1 v 1 ends in Bakugou's favor.
    • Bakugou, Kirishima and (after the bulk of 1A was teleported) Fudaki try the same thing again against Kurogiri, only for them to get warped away.
    • Fudaki tries it against the USJ Nomu, only this time, the USJ Nomu kills him.
    • Bakugou tries this against Akatani, despite the fact no one knows where the hell he is. Akatani knocks him out because he can hear his explosions before he can see him.
    • It's heavily implied that Aizawa prefers the students doing Leeroy Jenkins tactics as it means they can think on the fly, not knowing or caring that these types of tactics are useless against extremely smart or extremely powerful villains.
  • The Night Unfurls: For some reason, this trope is never played completely straight: either it is subverted, or justified when it happens.
    • To start with, there's Chapter 11 of the original. What is Sanakan's plan to break through the gates of Ansur, when there are orc battle lines and a few cave trolls at the front? "We need to break through them." The readers are led to believe that this trope may happen given how Hot-Blooded she is, only for it to be subverted: the troops begin their assault under the cover of Olga's artillery strike, allowing them to break through easily.
    • Then there's Chapter 1 of the remastered version, where Kyril simply walks into the clearing to face off the orc band in front of him, after giving Alicia and her two subordinates an offhand suggestion to "hit them from four sides". From Alicia's perspective, this is certainly suicidal, but as Kyril one-shots a pair of orcs with his throwing knives, and then taunts the bigger one, it is clear that Kyril has the strength and skill to back it up, and he is not going to have any problems whatsoever.
    • Mostly subverted during the assault of the Black Fortress in the remastered version. Emphasis on "mostly". Kyril sticks to Vault's plan of hitting the southern wall of the fortress. Even him striking directly at the chieftain of the orc encampment in front of him is not regarded as reckless, but rather a brutal offensive tactic that's Crazy Enough to Work. The time this gets double subverted is when the enemy forces uses a Defensive Feint Trap to immolate a portion of the Black Dogs. Kyril's decision is to rush towards the mage responsible while disregarding Vault's command to regroup. Again, this is justified as another Attack! Attack! Attack! tactic that simply works because he's just that good and fast, not to mention the enemy forces Didn't See That Coming, thus scrambling to reform the line to no avail.
  • In Thousand Shinji, Asuka charged Israfel unthinkingly and hastily, and the monster beat her in a humilliating fashion. After that battle and a little mentoring from Shinji, she became more prudent and cautious before engaging the enemy.
  • After the fact in Waking to Another Sky. Colonel O'Neill's stubborn refusal to believe that any video game could require tactics more complicated than "hit the monster until it dies" gets him labelled Leeroy Jenkins by the SAOvivors.

Daily Life with Monster Girl

The DCU

  • In The Unfantastic Adventures of Bizarro No. 1, Bizarro repeatedly states he isn't a smart fighter... as proven by his first plan to engage the Blue-Kryptonite Man: a full-frontal attack, complete with a savage and ridiculous war cry. He wasn't even wearing any sort of radiation-proof gear, and got knocked out very, very quickly.

Death Note

Disgaea

Dungeon Crawler Carl

  • Dungeon Crawler Katia is awarded an achievement named "Leeroy Jenkins" for tackling a City-level boss with less than ten allies.
Reward: A Platinum 'I Guess Lucky Really Is Better Than Good' Box!

Good Omens

  • In Manchester Lost by JA Moczo, the archangel Michael is one. While the party is trying to sneak quietly into Hell to rescue a captured comrade, he begins by attacking the first (non-threatening) demon he sees. Crowley (the Noble Demon / party leader) deadpans, "There goes my next raise... [and] thanks to John Wayne here we just lost the element of surprise for absolutely no reason, because demons don't permanently die in Hell." Michael also attacks the Cerberus by himself, despite having the other Archangels as backup. And when faced with an entire army of demons, he walks up to them (again alone) to the tune of "You're the Best." And when Lucifer Ascends into a gigantic monstrosity of evil that is making reality disintegrate, what is his response? "Awesome."

Harry Potter

  • While not a plan so much as capitalizing on an opportunity, Dumbledore in Wind Shear interrupts a battle between Harry "Storm Chase" Potter and Voldemort's forces, assuming it to be a simple duel between Harry and Voldemort, which allows the latter to escape. When Dumbledore tries to defend his actions, citing that he didn't know what was going on, everyone present argues that he should have asked one of the bystanders present rather than apparating between the two and throwing up a shield.

Homestuck

  • Hivefled: Lereal Belsai plans to attack the entire Alternian fleet with his two-hundred-and-fifty cultist followers, most of whom are Child Soldiers or suffering from cull-worthy disabilities, relying on protection from Karkat Vantas' powers as the Second Sufferer. Karkat does not have any powers and is not pleased that Lereal doesn't believe him.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

  • Used in a couple different ways in Game Theory. While Nanoha does come up with plans in combat, even if they are insanely reckless plans, this is essentially her approach to using magic, which doesn't work out too well for her in this setting.
    • Mei, on the other hand, doesn't really think things through at all, and just charges straight at her enemies, on one occasion forcing Chrono to let their enemies escape in order to save her. This is revealed to be the result of descent from a berserker lineage, which leaves her with almost no fear response and a consequent inability to gauge the results of her actions.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • In A Colder War, Steve thinks of himself as this in terms of his plans; while he respects people like Peggy who can plan for everything, he recognises that his standard ‘plans’ consist of getting into places, hitting people until he gets whatever he came for, and then hitting people while he gets out.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • A section of the audio from the original Leeroy clip was used for the scene in PONIES The Anthology II.

Naruto

  • Chasing the Shadow lampshades this during the Zabuza fight scene, the narration flat out stating that Naruto and Sasuke's actions were stupid and suicidal.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • The Child of Love: In chapter 7 Asuka gets to offer tactical advice during a battle. Unfortunately, she tended to rush into an unknown situation and losing her temper. Fortunately, when she calmed down she came up with a good strategy.
Asuka:"Why not rush towards that damn Angel?!"
Misato:"Do you know the meaning of the word 'caution'?"
  • Ghosts of Evangelion: Thirty years after the fact, Asuka thinks the Fifteenth defiled her because she was too eager to fight it.
Asuka: Get one thing straight, kid — I hurt myself there. They had no control over the Evas, and I wasn't even supposed to sortie that day. I'm the one who jumped into battle, and I'm the one who refused to retreat. Misato ordered me to pull back, but I wouldn't listen. I don't like admitting it, but what happened to me that day was my fault.
  • Once More With Feeling (Crazy-88): In her second battle, Asuka carelessly charges head-on, ignoring Shinji's warnings. Thanks to Shinji, she avoids getting her butt handed to her, but she still acknowledges and curses her own recklessness.
  • Rise of the Minisukas: During a battle, Shinji charges in a reckless, crazy way when he thinks Shamshel is going to harm the Minisukas. Later, Misato informs him that letting yourself being impaled by your enemy's whips in order to stab it to death is not a valid battle strategy.
  • You Are (Not) At Fault: After Third Impact and Nerv's rebuilding, Shinji Ikari's fighting style has devolved into going into a berserk rage and charging recklessly as soon as the enemy is spotted, ignoring Misato's orders.
Any hopes that this would be an uncomplicated fight were shattered as an unearthly roar shook the city, the shrieks of ripping metal almost lost in the noise as Unit-01 tore its way out of the launch cradle as if it wasn’t even there. Heavy stomping from the south told Asuka that Unit-01 was already racing towards their target, and she surged forward before Misato could order her to advance.
'Schiesse, here we go again!' she thought as Unit-02 rushed down the street, ripping up asphalt and shaking buildings with every step the behemoth took, the power cable unfurling behind her. 'Jumping the gun as usual.' She had to get there before Unit-01 did, or there would be nothing left. 'Of which one though? The monster...or Shinji?'

Odd Squad

  • All Mixed Up! has Otto charging at Mariana Mag, a "dangerous woman with a gun" as the story notes (a stun gun, mind you), when he becomes a Cornered Rattlesnake, without any single thought. Mariana is so taken aback by this that she lowers her stun gun and is distracted for long enough to let Otto turn Oscar back to normal.
  • Subverted in Patterns of the Past. O'Sullivan, the rescue team's sole Maintenance agent, asks the rest of the group if they should barge in and confront the Patternista or sneak in somehow. Most everyone agrees that charging in is the best solution, but they don't get a chance to because the Patternista opens the door and everyone except Olesya ends up ensnared in a net hung in midair.

Sailor Moon

A Song of Ice and Fire

  • Allright, I'm to confront Cersei, Eddard Staaaark!

Steven Universe

  • In Piece of a Diamond, Steven throws herself at the Centipeedle under the assumption that the urge to protect the gems would summon his shield.

Sword Art Online

  • The players in Sword Art Online Abridged often display this behavior, despite the fact that they'll die if their characters do. This even exasperates the guy who trapped them in the death game in the first place.
Kayaba: Do you know how many of you have died while screeming "Leeroy Jenkins?!" More than zero! Which, as far as I'm concerned, is grounds for exterminating the species!

Worm

  • All Alone: As soon as Sophia confirms that they're going to stop a group of five muggers, Taylor runs forward with a baseball bat before Sophia can keep talking and devise a plan. Which leads to her being overpowered and abducted, and gets Sophia killed rescuing her.
  • In Intrepid, Aisha in 6.09, rushing in while Sophia was trying to get them protection from an enemy's power. This ended up with her falling for Benjamin's power since she didn't listen and trying to kill Sophia.

Young Justice (2010)

  • With This Ring: When the Renegade arrives on Earth 50, he is reasonably careful at first, but then he finds out that the US president has been replaced with an Apokoliptian infiltrator robot and he's just done. He proceeds to simply teleport up to the Thanagarian flagship, singlehandedly boarding and storming it. And it works, but also gets him injured in a way that becomes his new benchmark for excruciating pain.
Grayven: I'm going to actually take over this country after all. And unlike those weak-willed Justice Lords I'm not going to wuss out halfway through. Father Box, boom tube to the Thanagarian bridge!

Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • In the remake of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Thousand Year Door, the Shadow Queen, by her own admission, made a mistake like this which cost her the original battle a thousand years ago, charging recklessly into what was an obvious trap set up by the Dragon Master. She nearly makes the same mistake again in a crucial part of the duel with Andy, but remembers the previous incident at the last minute, and reconsiders; this small reconsideration lets her win the duel. (And a powerful lesson on why a Leeroy Jenkins is a bad thing.)
