Hypocrisy on The Simpsons.

  • "Itchy and Scratchy and Marge":
    • Marge goes on a campaign to get the popular Itchy and Scratchy cartoon banned from Springfield due to violent content she finds offensive. When a similar campaign to ban Michelangelo's David from Springfield due to its nudity takes place, Marge refuses to support the campaign and urges everyone to see the statue. Her opponents then call her on the hypocrisy of demanding that one form of controversial, potentially offensive art be banned because she doesn't like it while objecting to the banning of another form of controversial, potentially offensive art because she does like it.
    • Marge's crusade against Itchy & Scratchy, including forbidding her kids from watching it, is also hypocritical considering Marge's habit of ignoring every stupid and destructive thing Homer does throughout the series. On top of that, she never steps in to keep him from choking Bart whenever he gets on Homer's bad side.
  • "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy": Homer is appalled when his father calls him "an accident" and abandons him on the roadside for it. When he tells Marge about this, she informs him that he does the same to Bart all the time.
  • "Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge": Chief Wiggum calls the townsfolk out on this after the riot in when they decide to blame all the damage caused to the town on his inability to properly enforce the law:
Wiggum: You know, it wasn't just my fault! You were the ones doing all of the looting!
  • In the episode "The Boys of Bummer", Joe LaBoot chides Bart for losing a baseball game by missing a ball — completely ignoring the fact that he himself did the same thing years earlier.
  • "Dial N For Nerder": Lisa has always preached about how people must always tell the truth no matter how much trouble it will cause for others because "it's the right thing to do". When she and Bart thought they accidentally killed Martin, Lisa was desperate to keep the truth hidden, even forcing Bart to stay quiet about it because she's afraid that if the truth gets out, it will ruin her future.
  • "Bart vs. Itchy & Scratchy"
    • Bart gets called out for being a hypocrite for watching and enjoying the female Itchy & Scratchy cartoon after organizing a boycott. Lisa uploads his reaction to the internet and turns him into a meme.
    • Later, Lisa criticizes Bart for getting involved in feminism without understanding the issue beyond "chicks get a raw deal". Yet when Krusty first announced the all-female Itchy & Scratchy cartoon, he openly admitted that it was all about profiting off of feminism, and Lisa didn't seem to have a problem with that. Plus, when she attempts to educate Bart on the specific issues facing women, the worst thing she can think of is women's clothes not having enough pockets. If that's the worst thing she can think of, she's the one who needs to educate herself.
  • "Treehouse of Horror XIX"'s parody of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown sees Nelson condemn the Grand Pumpkin's Fantastic Racism towards yellow pumpkins — even though, earlier in the same segment, he used "gay" as an insult to Milhouse.
  • "The Telltale Head": Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney are outraged when they hear about the head of Jebediah Springfield’s statue being cut off, and say they wish to beat up the person who did it. In the HD intro introduced in Season 20, they are shown cutting the head off.
  • In a musical skit from "Treehouse of Horror XX", Moe says his mother thought he was too ugly to hug. We see a picture of Moe's mother, who looks almost exactly like him.
