- In Child of the Storm, Harry tends to be magnetically attracted to snarky badasses - sheer force of will is the main requirement. They're also often blonde (even his Hot Teacher Betsy Braddock is actually a natural blonde under the purple hair dye), something suggested to be due to a childhood watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer repeats at Mrs Figg's. Since Carol is blonde, very snarky, and badass with sufficient force of will to not only wield the Green Lantern ring but subconsciously use it to resist dying, the UST is near immediate and inevitable.

Ampie becomes aware, very uncomfortably so, that Mrs Smith-Rhodes-Lensen is quite attractive. What he doesn't work out is that she's aware of this, and assessing how this uncomfortably close proximity to her is affecting his thought processes and his ability to reason. She confides in her older sister, afterwards, that she is wondering if this left the poor boy imprinted with a thing for red-haired girls and she hopes it wasn't too cruel on him Several years later, he meets Mariella's niece in Ankh-Morpork. Sharon mentions that in hindsight, she realised all of Christian's subs look alike, which she personally finds a bit creepy and alarming. - Gold Poisons states that Jin Guangshan has a type and that Mo Xiulan resembles Meng Shi. however, the fic doesn't elaborate on what that type actually is.
- crawlersout: Fem!Harry's is Tall, Dark, and Handsome. When she was a Hogwarts student, she had things for both Oliver Wood and Cedric Diggory. Notably, she has yet to notice that this is what her charge Tom Riddle Jr. will grow up to be as long as he doesn't mutilate himself with dark magic (they're set to be the Official Couple). The sole love interest she has that doesn't fit this archetype is Gellert Grindelwald who is tall and handsome but not dark (in appearance, at least). Even then, he's more like a Stalker with a Crush than an actual love interest.

- Feralnette AU: Played for Laughs with Adrien, who doesn't realize that he's attracted to strong people until he's complaining about how much he wishes he was the one Marinette was carrying out of their classroom instead of Felix. Note that at the time, Marinette has Felix in a headlock. It also takes Nino asking him outright if he's into strong women for Adrien to make the connection, much to his starry-eyed wonder.Adrien: I AM
Nino: Dude are you okay—
Adrien: I AM JEALOUS I DO WANT TO BE CARRIED
Nino: I... could... try to carry you...?
Adrien: (kneeling on the floor) I want to be carried by a STRONG GIRL

Nino: uh... good?
Nino and Alya: (thinking) Is he having an epiphany right now?! - I See What You Do Behind Closed Doors plays with this: Adrien starts dating Marinette after noticing how much she looks like Ladybug... because she IS Ladybug, but he doesn't realize that. When Marinette learns that he's two-timing her by continuing to pursue her heroic alter ego, she breaks things off with him, and Adrien is confused by how upset he gets. It's unclear how much of his reaction is due to being Unknowingly in Love versus outrage over being dumped.

- Son of the Sannin: Both the boys Karin shows attraction to in the story have many things in common, being young ninja prodigies descended from prominent Konoha clans, with cold and aloof attitudes. - Madoka is really, really into girls who look good in suits. Just like her mom. Homura wearing one makes her unfathomably happy, and she fully intends to get Sayaka and Kyoko in them as soon as possible (Mami gets a pass on this due to the size of her breasts).
- Kyoko likes girls with large breasts who are also competent. Naturally she's quite attracted to Mami, complicated histories and current situations notwithstanding.
- Jokingly applied as well with Madoka's mother asking her if she has an orphan fetish given that Mami, Homura, and Kyoko are orphans. Madoka denies this and points out that Sayaka is not an orphan. - And on a related note, in other alternate universes where Steven is the child of one of the other Diamonds, one thing is certain: Greg's type is women who are tall, powerful, and emotionally complicated.
- In Switcheroo AU, a recurring element is Spinel and Japser's infatuation with each other, with various implications that she may have done something with Amethyst and gives an I'm Taking Her Home with Me! look when she sees the Famethyst.
