  • Artistic License – Cars: In "Dora Causes a Car Crash", Dora is able to change the car's gear to reverse while driving fast, immediately causing the car to go in reverse and crash into another car. In reality, this would merely cause the car to slowly stop, as well as potentially damaging the transmission.
  • Artistic License – Economics: This "(Character) Gets Jobs/Fired" video has four customers driven away from a Red Lobster restaurant and two customers driven away from a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant by Daisy immediately resulting in the Red Lobster going out of business and threatening the Buffalo Wild Wings with the same, even though most restaurants don't close just from losing a few customers on one day. (Unless they had already been on their last legs, which neither of the affected businesses seem to have been before hiring Daisy.)
  • Artistic License – Film Production: In "Dora Makes A New Show And Gets Grounded", Dora is somehow able to go to Nickelodeon Studios, say that she is going to make a new show to the receptionist, and immediately get her idea greenlit (despite her idea only being the name of the show) and have the entire first episode finished within an hour or so, with promotion on Nick Jr. being done for it as well, when these projects take a while before their existence is even hinted to the public.
  • Artistic Licence – Law:
  • Artistic License – Physics:
    • In this video, Dora somehow manages to cause a huge destructive earthquake throughout the city just from dropping a 1500 pound ball at her school (for reference, that's around the same weight as a large cow).
    • In this video, Daphne accidentally sinks a cruise ship... by cracking an underwater glass section with her iPhone.
    • In this video, Caillou, angered at Chuck E. Cheese's going out of business, decides to destroy the entire Earth by growing giant and shooting lasers at it. This means that everything, and every living thing, would be obliterated...except Boris, Doris, and Rosie somehow inexplicably survive (and on top of that, somehow being able to breathe in space) and appear to ground Caillou and send him into the sun.
  • Artistic License – Space: "Rosie Pushes Caillou into the Sun" is a pretty ludicrous example of this. The basic plot involves the family taking a rocket to Mars. The family gets into their spacesuits and get on the rocket in about ten minutes, seemingly without any training. The family then fly in the rocket to Mars, arriving in all but thirty seconds, while in reality it would take at least six months to get there. There, the family jumps right off the rocket and float around with no preparations. Caillou and Rosie then proceed to float straight to the sun in fifteen seconds, despite the sun being 142 million miles (228 million km) from Mars. For reference, they would need to travel at approximately 34.08 billion mp/h (54.72 billion km/h) for that to be possible. Caillou and Rosie float within ten feet of the sun and suffer no burns, lacerations, or injuries of any kind, when in reality coming within just half a mile of the sun means instant death. Rosie pushes Caillou into the sun, and Caillou simply lays on top it, bursting into a tiny flame. The sun is a huge ball of gas, and even if Caillou somehow managed to not be vaporized right away, he would pass through the gases and be burned to death within a few seconds. Boris and Doris then come over to ground Rosie, and they don't burn either.
  • Autocannibalism: Bizarrely featured in this video, where a heavyset version of Caillou becomes so desperate to eat something that he eats himself until he is only a head lying on the floor.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: In Caillou Steals A Car/Punishment Day/Grounded, when Caillou steals a man's car, the man tells an approaching heavy-set man to call the cops. However, the other man recognizes the thief and decides to... call Boris to pick them up. The victimized man doesn't get why they just don't call the cops, Boris has to be yelled at to come get them and the victimized man is angry they wasted valuable time on what the heavy-set man thinks is "much more fun".

  • Catchphrase: Bradley's dad's catchphrase is "Mother of God Bradley!" Bradley's grandpa has this too.
  • The Cameo: Santed Stickguy, the GoAnimate: The Movie counterpart of Santed Sailor, makes a cameo in "Twilight's Birthday". More specifically, a bus driver stops and talks to him while driving characters from various shows to a pond. Also, just like his source material, Santed Stickguy is voiced by a real person instead of a text-to-speech voice.
  • Can't Get Away with Nuthin': Taken to ludicrous extremes in this video, where Caillou ditches school to take an airplane to Minnesota, only to get busted because the school's security camera caught everything, even Caillou going to the airport, landing in Minnesota, and what he's doing there.
    • Also in this video, when the principal calls the police to get Caillou in Minnesota, she describes him as having a bald head, yellow shirt, blue shorts, and red shoes. The thing is, during a shopping spree, Caillou changed his outfit to a much more formal white tuxedo with matching white pants and black shoes. Despite only matching one of the four given descriptives, at the movie theatre, a cop walks in and instantly recognizes him, leading to Caillou's capture and grounding.
  • Chewing the Scenery: Caillou in Caillou Hurts Rosie while saying she's ugly.
Caillou: NO! YOU LOOK SO UGLY AND STUPID, FUCK YOU!
  • Circling Saw: A variant is used in Dora Sets Off A Booby Trap On Her Parents. Dora uses a chainsaw, not a saw, to cut into the perimeter surrounding her parents' bed, and it only collapses when they try and sleep in it that night.
  • The Complainer Is Always Wrong:
    • One video by African Vulture that was later taken down (presumably because of Old Shame) featured Caillou loudly announcing that "Steven Universe sucks" (with Steven and the Crystal Gems in earshot, no less). He is promptly booed by everyone nearby and Boris lays into Caillou over how he could possibly hate "the greatest show ever", leaving the now-grounded Caillou to leave in humiliation.
    • An in-universe example is Bradley's father in this video. He is this and a Jerkass to the eponymous character as he forbids his son from seeing Wreck-It Ralph, believing that after Chicken Little, Disney has devolved into "mindless 3D Madagascar bullshit" and that "Toy Story is a cancer and [Bradley] know[s] it". Later on, he grounds Bradley for going so far as to dating an Abhorrent Admirer, only for him to get possessed by Bradley later on so Bradley can see Wreck-It Ralph.
  • Cooked to Death: In Dead Meat, a cooking class teacher (who is actually Boris in disguise) tricks his students into going into a chamber where they are killed by various giant kitchen appliances. Maria falls into a toaster and is burned alive, Anthony falls into a pot full of water and gets boiled, Courtney walks into the chamber and gets burnt to death when the platform she stands on gets cooked by a stove, Cameron gets impaled by a rotisserie stick and later gets cooked above a fire, Haley falls into a blender and is torn to pieces, and Harold falls into a barbecue, only to die in the flames.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: In one Warren Cook video (which only exists as part of this compilation), Warren's punishment for talking back is having the Bob the Builder theme song sung to him.
  • Crossover: In a sense: this satirical video features Caillou in a Call of Duty online deathmatch with characters from three other low-quality online video makers, namely Plotagon, Powtoon, and Muvizu.

  • Deconstruction:
    • This video deconstructs the Protagonist-Centered Morality that Caillou's parents (as well as other parent characters as well) exemplify in many grounded videos when Caillou decides to blow the whistle on them via a talk show. Reality hits Boris and Doris like a load of bricks, when it's concluded that the reason Caillou misbehaves so much is the direct result of his parent's abuse. Boris and Doris hated him from the day he was born and took to treating him horribly, thus making them responsible for the way Caillou turned out in the first place. No. There's no Ass Pull leading to Caillou still getting grounded. Ultimately, Boris and Doris are arrested for child abuse and Caillou and Rosie go to a foster family.
    • If Kids Lived The Lot Of Time They Were Grounded has Henry's parents making him stay in his room for a few centuries, and he does actually live long enough to be ungrounded. When he finally leaves, he finds a post-apocalyptic world, and that he was ungrounded just in time to see the destruction of Earth.
    • Creator BrandaBob has done quite a few of these sorts of videos. "Good Parenting" has parents-to-be experience Boris' Punishments first hand and are quite understandably shocked and "Family Reunion" has Boris attempt to pass the blame of ripping off Inside Out onto Caillou only to be tossed in jail himself.
    • Wileyk209zback's videos tend to do this, poking fun at the "Caillou Gets Grounded" trend popular in the community, most notably when the family goes to court for Boris constantly grounding Caillou. Even though Boris accuses the court of being a Kangaroo Court with a Joker Jury, it actually turns out to be a positive outcome for Caillou, as it screws up big time for Boris and he is declared mentally insane for having a "grounding fetish", all while Boris attempts to paint Caillou as the most obnoxious brat in history, and as the only sane person in his family, even going as far as to try and ground the courtroom when the sentencing is handed down and he is arrested.
      • Later on he did another one where Caillou's family attends a family therapy session, where once again it doesn't end well for Boris and he is similarly declared mentally insane for his unhealthy grounding obsession, and even tries grounding everyone in his family and the therapist. But of course things turn out well for Caillou, Rosie and Doris, and they earn their family bliss, but not in the way they expected.
  • Did Not Think This Through:
    • In Caillou Floods the Home Depot/Destroys Store/Grounded, Caillou gets the idea to threaten Boris with a machine gun to get him to take him to Chuck E Cheese's. All this does is get Boris to realize Caillou's lost his mind and goes to get 2x4s so he can put Caillou in isolation.
    • In Caillou and Lily do the 24 Hour Challenge at Walmart, when Boris and Mrs. Martin make Caillou and Lily go shopping at Walmart for groceries for them, the two kids instead decide to hide there for 24 hours in order to punish them for bad things the adults did prior. Boris decides to drive out Caillou and Lily by setting Walmart on fire with a flamethrower, and while the two do manage to escape, Boris ends up getting arrested and sent to jail for 5000 days due to his burning of the Walmart, while Caillou and Lily get off with only an overnight stay at jail for trespassing, and due to the short amount of time they even trespassed.
  • Dirty Coward:
    • Caillou's friends in Caillou Does The Bloody Mary Challenge. While they are getting chased by Bloody Mary (actually Caillou's mom), the friends ditch Caillou and run out of the house to save themselves, leaving Caillou to die at the mercy of Bloody Mary.
    • In this video, Miss Christina confronts Dora who is threatening to burn the school down. Rather than attempt to stop Dora from burning down the school and make good on her threat to report her to the principal, Miss Christina immediately runs for cover the second Dora begins pouring gasoline in the school hallway (though pulling the fire alarm by far has the same effect of reporting the incident, and Miss Christina would likely be justified for being fearful Dora would just throw gasoline on her and toss a match in order to murder her, rather than just burning the building for an arson charge and allowing a quick evacuation with the alarm where everyone is physically fine).
    • After Dora and Boots get caught destroying the house, Boots runs out of the house and lets Dora get beaten up by her mother.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: An interesting subversion where the roles of trouble maker and birthday kid are switched has Caillou insulted by the attendant when he attempts to see the movie and is forcefully turned away, only for Doris to get angry at the attendant and "kick her to Hell". He doesn't get to see the movie, but everything is reassured at the end.
  • Dream Episode: In this video, Caillou causes Rosie to have a nightmare by saying scary stuff to her while she's sleeping. In Rosie's nightmare, she's wandering around in a burning inferno until she meets a single-eyed devil. She tries to call her mommy for help, but Dream!Doris is stupid and unable to help her before disappearing after a while. Rosie wakes up crying (much to the amusement of Caillou), her parents come to comfort her, and she tell them that Caillou caused her to have a bad dream. Caillou then gets grounded by his parents until the next episode is made, and Boris then does to Caillou what he did to Rosie while he was sleeping. In Caillou's nightmare, he meets Rexy and says that he's his favorite dinosaur even more than Barney, who gets upset by it and then eats Caillou, who tries to call to his parents for help.
  • Dream Within a Dream:
    • In this video, Caillou goes to sleep after being grounded for no reason and dreams that he's out for a walk in the neighborhood. A tornado abruptly appears and sweeps Caillou away. Caillou wakes up to find Cookie Monster in his room. Cookie Monster believes Caillou to be a cookie and gobbles Caillou up. Caillou wakes up again, this time for real. His parents then ground him for longer for having a nightmare.
    • This video has a whole series of them; starting with a heartfelt moment between the family as the moon from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask comes down onto the neighborhood, then goes to, in order, Caillou waking up to find that Boris is actually the Grim Reaper, an Undertale-inspired Mind Screw sequence, turning into a Magical Girl version of himself, then turning into a basketball player before finally waking up. Caillou is understandably put out by the time he finally wakes up for real.
Caillou: (throwing things in his room around) I am so fucking tired of these fucking nightmares!!
    • In this video, Caillou goes to sleep after his mom catches him playing a zombie game late at night and dreams that he's wandering around in a city under the red sky (called the "Land of Doom"). He then goes to the black void and sees Flowey from Undertale, which turns into a horrifying monster later. Caillou then meets a few villains and monsters (including Alastor from Hazbin Hotel and Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls), and then his parents ground him for eternity for insisting that it is a nightmare. Caillou wakes up to find his parents grounding him for having a nightmare. At the end, Caillou wakes up again, this time for real.
  • Driven to Suicide: In "Caillou Time Travels Back To 2013 In African Vulture's First Caillou Video & Gets Grounded!", Caillou tries to kill himself with his daddy's gun for various reasonsnote , but decided against it.
  • Drunk Driver: Invoked upon Cole by Dora in Dora Causes a Car Collision. Dora decides to cause a car accident purely for fun by giving Cole an alcoholic drink without telling him that alcohol was in the drink, causing him to lose control of his car after a few minutes and crash it into another family's car.

  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • In this execution video, when Caillou's eyes and arm fall off while on the electric chair, even Boris believes Caillou has gone through enough agony and begs them to turn it off, to the point where he runs into the execution room and turns off the current himself.
    • In this video where Caillou turns himself into a woman, Boris tries hitting on him (he didn't know at the time that it's his own son he's flirting with), and when Caillou tells him the truth, Boris is disgusted at the idea of hitting on his son.
  • Evil All Along: In this video, Caillou befriends a "meme police" officer after being caught using discredited memes by her and they seem ready to set off to find fresher memes when they discover that all of their memes are outdated. Near the end of the video, however, out of nowhere the woman reveals herself to be a spy for Boris and Doris and gets Caillou (and Rosie, who broke her legs with a mallet) grounded.
  • Evil Versus Evil: samster5677's Dora videos often boil down to a clash between Dora, who is already the bratty girl depicted in other videos, and Elena, who is depicted as borderline abusive to Dora as she tries to make sure Dora's life is as horrible as possible.
  • Exact Words: In Shaggy retakes his drivers test, Shaggy is told that, to regain his driver's license, he must drive and not damage a pack of Twinkies. Despite doing extremely irresponsible things, like jumping a drawbridge, he still passes because the Twinkies aren't damaged.

    F
  • Failure Is the Only Option: In this "(Character) Misbehaves at (Restaurant)" video, Dora and her mom go to McDonald's, and Veena anticipates that the restaurant will not have something Dora wants (which will lead to Dora trashing the place) and is ready to take action. When the inevitable happens (the restaurant is out of fruit punch), Veena immediately throws her hand over the enraged Dora's mouth and orders Dora a lemonade instead. Unfortunately for Veena, she is unable to prevent Dora from Flipping the Table later when Dora decides the lemonade tastes terrible.
  • Fartillery:
    • While having a battle against Barney, Caillou uses his flatulence as an attack. It kills Barney.
    • In "Giygas Farts On The Bus", it's shown that Giygas's farts are a weapon of mass destruction. After Giygas does so whilst on a bus, it sets everything on fire.
    • Caillou starts the New Year off with a bang in this video...and by that, we mean a fart; induced by eating a ton of tacos just before midnight. He cuts loose in the middle of the family's New Year's Eve party, causing everyone in the room to drop dead except for Boris who promptly grounds Caillou.
  • Farts on Fire: Giygas does this in "Giygas Farts On The Bus".
