Gender Bending in Fan Works.

Crossovers

  • Archivist Angels: Being a gender fluid angel, Uriel/Urielle can flip between male and female form on a whim, doing so during the middle of Philip's trial.
  • Child of the Storm
    • The first book has Loki comfortably transform into a female form for a banquet, apparently largely on a whim, suggesting that while primarily identifying as male, Loki is at least mildly gender-fluid. He mentions past instances of transforming into a woman and one occasion, him transforming Thor into a woman for about twelve hours. Apparently Thor himself wasn't overly fazed by it and is implied to have taken the opportunity to experiment. Harry shuts him down before he can go any further on the grounds of Too Much Information.
    • Harry doesn't seem overly bothered by the idea of doing it himself. In the sequel, he jokingly speculates about transforming Clark into a girl to fool the targeting on a magic spell, noting that a gender-switch is a big change. A mortified Clark shuts him down, and asks, essentially, "how would you like it?" Harry's dry response is that given what he knows about his cousins, Jean and Maddie, and has heard about his mother, he'd ask to change into a looser shirt first.
  • A Clash of NEETs: Theon thinks that he can sleep with other women even though he is married to Nyarko. Nyarko shows him how wrong he is by turning him into a woman.
  • Dragons: When making contact with Colin, Sheogorath speaks with a female voice, even though Colin remembers him being male when they met in Pelagius the Mad's mind.
  • D Reincarnation: Many male Devil Fruit bearers are genderbent when reborn due to there being more mares than stallions born in Equestria. The reason Blueblood created the Bluebell illusion is because he's the first recorded case of a female being reborn as a stallion. He does get picked on for it, with everypony thinking he's an Okama at first, but in the end they don't really care and understand his predicament.
  • Fantasia Times: When Andi gets akumatized, she turns into the male Malum Draco.
  • Fates Collide: Mordred's father in this fic started out as the male Arthur Pendragon before being turned into a woman.
  • The God Empress of Ponykind: Tzeentch does this to the God-Emperor, mixed with Animorphism, at the end of their fight, by turning him into a female alicorn. The Emperor/Princess Celestia is pissed off at first, but gets used to it after a few years. By the story's present time, she's lived in her current body for several billions of years longer than she had her original one, so it's long ceased to be an issue.
  • The Infinite Loops will occasionally reboot a looper as the opposite gender. Twilight speculates it happens roughly two percent of the time. Some loopers do this more than others, such as Commander Shepard and Bonnie the Bunny.
  • Inheritance of Cards and Demons: This is the power of the Switch card, as Rin finds out when it turns him into a girl named Sora.
  • My Little Titan: The Titans wind up in the bodies of the Mane Six. Naturally, this means the male Titans have this happen to them with the exception of Beast Boy, who ends up in Spike's body. Cyborg is not happy about this last part.
  • Red, White, and Blue, a Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover with the Marvel Universe, in which a Halloween costume sticks Xander with Mystique's powers and base form, and an inability to resume his own appearance... so he morphs into Willow, and poses as her cousin.
  • "The Serpent’s Vow": Seto Kaiba is the Goa'uld Queen Set, also known as Nephthys. Despite being a Queen and hence capable of giving birth to other symbiotes, he has retained the same male host since ancient Egypt and considers it just as much his true form as the symbiote.
  • A Song of Light and Dark: According to Dalmascan myth, in order to rescue the souls of the Firstborn of Races from the Underworld, Helios the Sun-Father turned into a woman to seduce Hades, the King of the Underworld, and stole back the souls when his back was turned.
  • Take the Green and Go: Ranma is cursed with a female form, as in canon. Unlike canon, however, said female form is Shego, who had been sent back in time and drowned at Jusenkyo. Will Du later falls into Spring of Drowned Girl (the spring Ranma fell into is Spring of Drowned Demon Woman) and is cursed with the form of a blonde-haired girl.
  • A Throne Nobody Wants: Shirou and Arturia become Sansa and Viserys (although the latter changes his name to Arthur after renouncing House Targaryen) respectively. Later, it's revealed that it also happened to Guinevere, Gawain, Galahad, Morgan, Lancelot, Cu Chulainn and Gilgamesh. The only exception to this is Mordred herself.
  • Tok'ra Apocalypse: A downplayed example features in the series when the Winchesters and Bobby Singer have to stop a demon-possessed scientist travelling to Destiny via the communication stones (nobody knows if a demon could travel along the stones, but obviously nobody wants to find out). During the confrontation, Bobby triggers the stone and arrives on Destiny in the body of Chloe Armstrong. However, aside from TJ musing that Chloe is "probably freaking out right now" and Bobby warning the boys not to talk about it once he gets back to his body, Bobby's visit to Destiny is focused instead on warning the crew how to protect themselves from potential demonic incursion, with no sign that he's really paying attention to his new body.
  • Voyages of the Wild Sea Horse: In addition to the canonical example of Ranma, Ryoga eventually has his Spring of Drowned Pig curse swapped out for a copy of Ranma's Spring of Drowned Girl curse. He notes that this would not be his preference, but turning into a girl is a legitimate step up from turning into a pig at the best of times, and considering they are sailing the Grand Line, where the list of animals and people big enough to devour P-chan in one bite is too long to count, it's really his only practical option apart from just giving up and living quietly on an East Blue island somewhere.
  • The Zero Context Series: Discussed in Zero Context: Taking Out the Trash. The central protagonist had been born a male named "Curtis", and had at some point been mutated into a cat-like humanoid with special powers. Curtis liked being human more than he liked having his superpowers, and years later took advantage of a magical wish-granting crystal he'd found to regain his humanity and reset himself back to square one — even if it meant completely forsaking his masculinity to become a girl, turning into 'Callista'. A nurse in the epilogue had to make it clear to her patient that this didn't automatically mean Callista considered herself transgender, stating that she'd been called such by some who had heard the term before but didn't fully understand what it meant.

Ben 10

  • Ben 10: Guardians: One of Ben's forms, Valkyrie, is from a species that only possesses the female sex.

Code Geass

  • Nil Desperandum: Lelouch's mind is sent back to the day of Britannian invasion of Japan after his death in the Zero Requim. However, the body he ends up in is a female version of himself named Luluka.

Danganronpa

  • Danganronpa: Improper Avatar has Hajime arrive in Hope's Peak like at the start of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, only to find out that he's now a girl. The same process also happened to Nagito, Chiaki, Fuyuhiko, Peko, Mahiru, Mikan, and Kazuichi. The discussion between Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya implies that this was the result of sabotage by Izuru Kamakura.

The DCU

  • There are several fan-written sequels to the "Claire Kent: Super-Sister" Superboy comic book story. In these stories, Clark's transformation into Claire is not All Just a Dream. The first story in the series can be read on this Website.

Digimon

  • Distorted Reflection: A battle with a D'arcmon damages both Taichi's and Mimi's digivices. When they wake up the next morning, they find themselves in the opposite gender thanks to the damaged Digivices swapping data. The more they use their Digivices, the more they get repaired and in turn make it harder to return to their original genders. While their partners Agumon and Palmon remain the same, it's their Digivolutions that are affected. Agumon now digivoles into the female Sunflowmon, while Palmon digivoles into the male Growlmon.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

  • All Because of Uncle Gary: Uncle Gary's ritual permanently swaps the sex of whoever it's performed on if fewer than three people chant the incantation. This happens multiple times across the comic: Greta is first, followed by Julie Webber, and finally Abigail's entourage.
  • Irreversible Damage: One of the potions reverses the physical sex of those who drink it. This ends up seeing considerable use in the story, and multiple characters — including Greg himself — undergo permanent sex changes.

Dungeons & Dragons

  • Vow of Nudity: In their crossover adventure, Haara and Kay'la both get turned into guys by a cursed spear, and have to travel to an underwater kingdom to try and get it reversed.

The Fairly OddParents!

Godzilla

  • Kaiju Revolution: It's speculated in Yongary's entry that all of the species start off as female, with the largest individual becoming the male.

Harry Potter

  • Ah! My Witches (Though Some Previously Could Not Be Considered Witches): Voldemort's newly invented immortally potion ends up turning himself, Draco and Lucius into Skuld, Urd and Mara respectively (Narcissa also takes the potion, but since she was already female, she just turns into Belldandy).
  • Becoming Female: Snape makes Harry drink a potion which turns him into the perfect female form.
  • Changes: Harry turns into a girl because Metamorphs experience a random major physical change when their powers first awaken. Due to the inadvisability of shifting anything more complicated than soft tissue, the change is permanent.
  • Harry Potter and the Unexpected Second Life is an alternate ending to Deathly Hallows where both Harry and Ron after the Battle of Hogwarts are victims of the Widowmaker poison, which only affects men, and only survive by taking Polyjuice Potion and turning into Hermione, and end up having to stay female for several months while they still have the potion in their systems.
  • In This World and the Next: Ron turns into a girl as a consequence of a Groin Attack by a troll. It Makes Just as Much Sense in Context.
  • Jamie Evans and Fate's Bitch is one of many super!Harry Peggy Sue fics, except when Harry comes back, he ends up in the wrong body.
  • Potion 99: Harry takes a potion to permanently turn himself into a girl because the wizarding world is extremely bigoted about homosexuals and crossdressers.
  • Water Aerobics for the Aquaphobic: During a poorly-planned Hogwarts field trip to Jusenkyo that results in most of the students being cursed into various forms, Ron falls into Spring of the Drowned Violent Tomboy, which curses him to turn into Akane Tendo whenever he gets splashed with cold water. Theodore Nott is similarly transformed into a siren, a kind of female monster like a humanoid equivalent of a black widow, and there was also a grandfather of Sirius' who apparently fell into the Spring of the Drowned Double-Jointed Concubine.

Haruhi Suzumiya

Kim Possible

  • "Match Ado About Nothing" features another villain's warped obsession with the idea of Kim and Shego being together driving her to turn Kim and Shego gay. Since Kim still loves Ron but can't be with him physically, Ron ultimately accepts it when Shego and DNAmy turn him into a woman with a Genetic Resequencer so that he and Kim can continue as a couple.

The Legend of Spyro:

  • Dragons Unite: A few examples.
    • In the main story, Ddraig ends up being turned female via a cursed bit of jewelry, and many years later, her own son Alexander Jr. comes out as transgender and becomes "Alexandria".
    • In one of the prequel stories, Roman dragon Marianus is turned female by his family after being caught in a homosexual relationship with another dragon.
    • In a side story, the evil dragon witch Hiska's psychological issues started when she was turned from male to female while still in the egg.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

The Lord of the Rings

  • A Day in Time revolves around Merry waking up in the bodies of his ancestors, one of whom happens to be his very pregnant (and about to give birth) great-grandmother.

Miraculous Ladybug

My Hero Academia

  • Blood Sex Sugar Magic: After getting Overhaul's Quirk, one of the "good uses" Himiko put it to was to make Magne physically female.
  • Dekiru: The Fusion Hero!:
    • Since the resulting fusion between Izuku and Ochako is a girl, Mitsuki points out that, by extension, Izuku turns into a girl when fused with Ochako.
    • Fusions with Momo and Mina are both girls as well, leading Katsuki to declare that the gender of his Human Fusion partner determines the fusion's gender, so any time he fuses with a girl will result in this. The fact that his fusion with Tsuyu is also girl points to Katsuki being right.
    • Three-person fusions are harder to predict, since while Tsuzuru (Izuku, Tsuyu, Minoru) is a girl, Katzuchako (Katsuki, Izuku, Ochako) is a boy.
  • Fanfic/Dragonspawn: Although a male in their past life, Ryuuzaki is reborn as a girl.
  • Hammerverse: When all you have is a Hammer has this as Izuku's quirk. It's unusual in that Izuku gets the ability when they’re just four years old, and they identify as non-binary regardless of which form they’re in.
  • Quirk: Magical Girl Mascot: Izuku Midoriya in this story has a quirk that turns him into a Magical Girl Mentor Mascot, and can form bonds with others to make them into Magical Girls. Emphasis on the word "girl", as any boy that Izuku Bonds with will become a girl. This has happened to Katsuki before they joined UA, and the same thing happened to Shoto, Tenya, and All-Might later in the story.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • Becoming Ponies has, as its core concept, fans of the show waking up with the bodies of the show's characters. Given the infamous Periphery Demographic, this was inevitable.
  • Blooming Moon Chronicles: Six Broken Ponies reveals that Rainbow Dash is a trans stallion, and Twilight uses a spell to transform his body into a stallion's.
  • Diaries of a Madman: Navarone finds a pair of artifacts that change the gender of the user. Occasionally they get used for disguise (as well as other things) — at least until they break...
  • A Diplomatic Visit: While all changelings can change gender at will, chapter 25 explains that it is expected, when male changelings mature to become their hive's Queen, for their baseline biology to permanently change into a female's in the process. Thorax remaining male partway through his transformation surprises them.
  • Discord's New Business: Fancy Pants and Fleur de Lis decide to be transformed into their opposite sexes instead of into different species. Fancy takes the name Fancy Dress afterward, while Fleur doesn't change his name upon becoming male.
  • Five Score, Divided by Four features this as part of its main premise, with more than a few of the main cast being men-turned-mare and woman-turned-stallion in equal regards.
  • Justice League of Equestria; in one side story to Mare of Steel, Rainbow Dash gets turned into a colt due to exposure to Red Kryptonite. She really doesn't want to stay a colt, especially when Maxima tries to take her/him as a mate.
  • Living The Dream has Lance and his friends turned into mares (Excluding Vinetion) by Annabel the Draconequus. The reason why she did this is because she hypnotized the entire male population of Manehattan into sex hungery beasts. The goal is for the bronies to survive an entire month without getting raped. And on top of that, All the Mares of Manehattan were turned into additional stallions to make it harder for Lance and Friends.
  • The Non-Bronyverse: A few non-canon stories involve this, such as one where TD gets turned into a pegasus mare by poison joke and another where he becomes an alicorn princess. Both times he's rather horrified.
  • Ponies After People: It's possible for someone to change sex when they become a pony.
  • Suspenders-verse by Evilhumour mentions that Cadance can take a male form, Bolero, when she wants to; most prominently, she did so in order for she and her wife Gleaming Shield (this universe's Shining Armor) to conceive their daughter Flurry Heart.
  • When a Pony Calls revolves around a brony accidentally switching bodies with Lyra, a female unicorn. Later, his original body winds up being gender bent by Twilight, as a result of Lyra not being able to handle male hormones. Also, it turns out being stuck in a magical environment is slowly turning his now female body into a pony too.
  • Without a Hive: Of an unusual variety. Nictis is a male changeling, but changelings normally will use both male and female forms as needs dictate. Meadow, his main pony identity, is a definitely heterosexual mare. And Spark is a definitely heterosexual stallion. Meadow and Spark fall in love, without Spark being aware of Meadow's true identity. Thus Niticis loves Spark, the unusual thing (by changeling standards) being that Nictis has a personal love and that it is an Interspecies Romance (changelings would normally see non-changelings as food, not partners), and Spark loves Nictis without realizing that what he is loving is both alien and male.

Mystery Science Theater 3000

  • Joel 1/2: An invention turns Joel into a woman. It should be noted that it was the author's idea for how the show could keep Joel himself on with Joel Hodgson (His actor) leaving (It was written before Mike officially became host).

Nasuverse

  • Fates Collide: Arthur Pendragon became Arturia after too many class changes in Chaldea Academy. She later had her daughter Mordred following an affair with Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.
  • Fate Crazy Knights: A rather odd example. Arturia can summon her Knights of the Round (minus Lancelot, who is summoned as Kariya's servant) and Merlin. Initially, the knights Gareth and Galahad start out male. However, following the release of the Camelot chapter in Fate/Grand Order, all the Knights that debuted or were talked about in that singularity undergo character updates in chapter 10, leading Gareth to become a girl and Galahad to fuse with Mash (who is fused with his power in the game). While Merlin is able to turn Galahad back to normal, he can't do the same to Gareth because she doesn't mind being a girl, especially since she can become Gawain's favorite little sister instead of competing with Gaheris for the role of favorite little brother.
  • Fate/Sunny Order: In an interlude, it's revealed that, years ago, Ritsuka and Kana Tohsaka found Kaleido Ruby, who activated with blood from a cut on Ritsuka's hand and turned him into a magical girl. While Shirou was able to free his son from being a magical girl with Rule Breaker, it left Ritsuka still as a girl. The family had to wait for two weeks for Zelretch to turn their son back to normal, due to Ritsuka's girl body being made from aspects of multiple female counterparts.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • Doing It Right This Time: When Kaworu decided to send himself and the other Children back in time to prevent the end of the world, he thought he might avert to play his role in the Dead Sea Scrolls prophecies if he changed sexes. So he turned female.

One Piece

  • Ace Lives:
    • Ivankov decides to use her powers to turn Kaido's daughter Yamato into a man without any consent whatsoever, after hearing that Yamato claim to be Kozuki Oden, who was a man. Yamato is very cool with it, though.
    • One of the earlier one-shots pays homage to the famous "Crocomom" theory, where it's revealed that Crocodile is Luffy's mother. In a twist, Dragon is not Luffy's father but rather his uncle and Crocodile's brother, and that his actual father is a time-traveling Gold Roger.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Pokémon:

  • Brave New World (Pokémon): Chapter 64 mentions that Palkia chooses which gender to be when they wake up in the morning.
  • Fanfic/Pokedex:
    • Some female Azurill turn male upon evolution, as in the video games Azurill has a higher female-to-male ratio than Azumarill does.
    • Female Tyrogue force themselves to become male through willpower due to intensely valuing masculinity.

Ranma ½

  • Account Transfer: Ryouga has his original curse overwritten with one that causes him to turn into a girl as part of his wish to have Ranma's problems.
  • Boy Scouts ½: One of the main characters, Matthew Atanian, fell into the same cursed spring as Ranma and thus has the same curse. A later introduced character, Perfume, is a woman who fell into Spring of Drowned Boy, and thus has the inverse curse.
  • Let's Go! Akane-kun: Akane wakes up one morning to find that not only has she become a boy, everyone she knows thinks that she has always been male. In addition, she (or rather "he") is now engaged to Shampoo, and Ranma is engaged to Nabiki.
  • Switching it Up!: Thanks to Mousse switching everyone's curses (except his own) around, Ryouga gets Ranma's curse and is cursed to turn into a blonde-haired girl every time he gets splashed with cold water.

RWBY

  • Genderbent: A dust mixture that Jaune made is spilt onto him, Pyrrha, Ren, Nora, and Yang, turning them into the opposite gender. Later, an antidote made to turn Yang into a girl again is used on Weiss and Blake by Nora, turning both of them into boys.

The Simpsons

The Smurfs

  • Empath: The Luckiest Smurf: Both Tapper and Duncan McSmurf get transformed into Smurfettes by a wish made with a magic egg, and Hefty gets partially transformed into one by Ghinelle the girl genie, who gets even on behalf of her mistress Smurfette for Hefty trying to use Sexual Extortion to keep his mouth shut about Smurfette having a genie.

Spider-Man

  • Blessing in Disguise: The radioactive spider who bites Peter Parker is female, which results in Peter not only gaining spider powers, but turning into a girl.

Sword Art Online

  • Trapped: Kirito is stuck playing as his little sister's avatar in the death game for years.

Thor

  • While uncommon, fanfics where Loki turns into a woman are not too hard to find. It's usually inspired by Norse myths of the gender-changing god. (All) Father Loki is one such fic by Savu0211.

Whateley Universe

  • Domoverse:
    • Ron turns into a girl over the course of several hours after getting hit by a car and his mutant power manifesting.
    • Estelle becomes a boy over the course of a year thanks to her mutation.
    • Ruth, who used to be Isaac. This was done very much against her will.
  • Kitsune: Conner Jeremy Fox, a 39+ year old man, age-regressed into a teenager girl.
  • Ma'at: The 70+ year old Doctor Daniel Edward O'Neill transforms into Dani, a 20-something female priestess of Ma'at.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

  • The Merry Go Round Broke Down: It's implied that Simon went through an incomplete, or even full, transformation. He still at minimum identifies as male, but it's also mentioned that he has the "wrong parts" as a weird side-effect of being turned into a CG character. He's also for some reason pregnant.
