Dragons is a Crossover Fan Fic between The Elder Scrolls and Inheritance Cycle.

Summary by author: For a brief amount of time, the hermit remembered, and he felt he had to do something... and perhaps he did. But then he forgot, and just returned to his questions.

Thanks to the meddling of a powerful hermit, the Dragonborn of Skyrim, a Nord by the name of Colin, is transported to an entirely different world: Alagaësia. Far from being dismayed by this turn of events, he's ecstatic at the idea of a whole new world to explore. Early on, he meets up with Eragon and Arya, quickly getting involved with the Varden and their struggle against the Empire. Now it remains to be seen how the Dragonborn will change history.

Examples of Tropes in this fanfic:

  • Action Girl: Arya is this and, since this fic gives her more coverage, she gets to show off her skills a bit more than in canon.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Dragons in both worlds believe in this, even Saphira. In fact, upon meeting Colin, she challenges him to a fight of dominance, which he wins. Odahviing considered himself the Dragonborn's right wing man and apparently took offense at Durnehviir being called on by Colin. He promptly challenged the undead dragon to a duel to see who got the right to be second in command. Odahviing won, so now he won't accept Colin calling upon any other dragon but him for aid.
  • Barbarian Hero: Nords are a race of people who would turn the Vikings green with envy, and Colin just so happens to be one of them.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Colin does not like it when someone tries to probe his mind, as Eragon learns pretty quickly. When Nasuada says that she wants to subject him to a mental scouring in order to determine his loyalties, he gives her a scathing tongue-lashing.
    • Colin really hates when people try to force their authority on him without having earned his respect. When Nasuada tries this, Colin essentially tells her to screw off.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Colin is not the most serious of people and constantly cracks jokes and quips, but if you should find yourself as his enemy, then may whatever god you worship have mercy on you. He is the Dragonborn after all.
  • Bullet Time: During his brawl with Saphira, Colin unleashes the Slow Time shout, causing everything to move at a snail's pace. All who are present to watch are astounded to see such power utilized, even Arya.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Both the Thu'um and magic in the Inheritance universe require a Magical Incantation.
  • Culture Clash:
    • The people of Alagaësia and Skyrim have very different worldviews, particularly when it comes to dragons. In Tamriel, dragons are not friendly. They are cruel, destructive and want nothing more than to dominate those they deem lesser (IE, everyone not a dragon); even those who are not overtly hostile still feel the urge to conquer and destroy. As such the Dragonborn, who can kill them permanently, is regarded as a near-godlike figure. In Alagaësia, dragons are considered almost holy and so Colin's nature is initially regarded as abominable, particularly to Arya. Interestingly, Saphira doesn't regard him with much hostility, reasoning that it isn't any of her business which dragons picked a fight with him, particularly if they knew what they were getting into, and Colin explodes when it's mentioned Alagaësian dragon hunters went for the eggs rather than the dragon itself; he takes pride in hunting and fighting only dragons that are perfectly capable of defending themselves, thankyouverymuch.
    • Colin finds the idea of bowing to those that are supposedly of greater authority than him more than a little irritating. In Skyrim, nobody has such a servile attitude, especially Nords. In fact, Colin would likely find such a demand even more aggravating than a regular Nord, since he's got the soul of a dragon in him. Dragons. Don't. Bow. In particular, he has very little patience for elven courtesies after the disaster that was the Skyrim Civil War, and butts heads with Eragon on the topic.
  • De-power: One of Nasuada's assistants tries to examine the enchantments on Dawnbreaker. Meridia, the sword's creator and power source, discovers her and furiously severs the elf's ability to use magic. Colin comments that it can be reversed, but it will most likely require a tribute to Meridia, like the heart of an undead.
  • Gender Bender: When making contact with Colin, Sheogorath speaks with a female voice, even though Colin remembers him being male when they met in Pelagius the Mad's mind.
  • Jerkass Gods: Played with in regards to the Daedric Prince Nocturnal. Sure, she may be demanding and more often than not condescending towards those she speaks to, but she still holds a somewhat soft spot for Colin, who in turn is quite devoted to her. That said, even that doesn't save Colin when she finds herself displeased with him.
  • Loveable Rogue: Colin loves to identify himself as this. He may not be anything close to shouting distance of a paragon of virtue, but he's still loyal to his friends and is all around a cheerful and easygoing guy. He also remarks that a rogue is like a warrior, but with a brain.
  • Magic Prerequisite: Hircine doesn't pay the weather in Alagaesia any mind... to his detriment, since stormy nights are highly conducive for summoning Sheogorath, even if he wasn't the Daedra the summoner intended to call.
  • Mortality Ensues: This is the effect of the Dragonrend shout. It forces its target to acknowledge the concept of mortality and dragons, being immortal, cannot comprehend having a finite existence, causing them to be stricken for a time. The effect also applies to other ageless beings like vampires, daedra, and Alagaësian elves, as Arya discovers when she's exposed to the Shout when fighting against the Shade.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: The dragons from the two worlds each have their own unique characteristics. Alagaësian dragons have six limbs and are unable to use human languages, relying instead on telepathy, while Tamriel's dragons have only four limbs, and can speak human languages and their own, called Dovahzul, with their own voice. Colin also notes in both his regular persona and his Dragon Aspect that Saphira isn't a "proper" dragon name, as the dragons he's used to dealing with use names consisting of three Dovazhul worlds instead of using human or elven words like Alagaësian dragons do.
  • Religion Is Wrong: Subverted. The Elves of this world don't believe gods exist, causing Arya to be highly skeptical of Colin's claims that he's actually met a few in person. However, she starts believing pretty quickly once she meets Hircine, Sheogorath and Nocturnal.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: More Amoral than Evil, but the Dragon Aspect brings a coldly rational side of Colin to the forefront, increasing his abilities through Emotion Suppression to eliminate any distractions from the task at hand.
  • There Is a God!: Thanks to Colin, Arya is shown that there are in fact godlike beings that exist. She might have been more in awe if the ones she had met weren't Daedric Princes.
  • Your Magic's No Good Here: Averted. Both sets of magic, while separate, work in Alagaësia just fine. That said, there are differences — an Alagaësian healer receives a few useful tips from Colin on how to draw and work his magic and finds the new technique allows him to keep healing long after he thought he would have died from exhaustion. While witnessing the coronation of the Dwarven monarch, Colin is surprised at the entity that manifests — something he's very sure isn't an Aedra or Daedra.
