Victoria Dallon woke after saving her sister at the Bank from the Undersiders.

Rebecca can still feel the spiders weaving webs in her lungs.

Dennis sees the golden light devouring the world.

Taylor... Taylor remembers.

So begins The Weaving Force by Ld1449. Scattered across the stars, the superheroes deal with the wounds of their past as they explore their strange new world. All the while, sinister figures continue their dark machinations…

Can be read on Spacebattles and AO3.

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Intelligence: While Anakin isn't exactly dumb, having few who could rival him in lightsaber combat and being talented with the Force led to him getting something of an ego. When Count Dooku becomes his new instructor, the first thing he does is pound discipline into Anakin's skull and beat whatever budding arrogance he has out of him.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Played for Laughs with Yoda's walking stick, which he ocasionally uses to whack Victoria through her forcefield.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: When Glory Girl wakes up in the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk with Skitter, there are lots and lots of enormous bugs around. This does not make her happy.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Parahuman shards, Queen Administrator especially, don't fully understand sapient morality or trains of thought. They get better as they communicate more directly with their hosts, though.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Downplayed during the battle on the space station. On the one hand Taylor is fighting on an airless space station which means no bugs. On the other hand she's learned to use the Force.
  • Bully Hunter: Vicky and Taylor- especially Taylor- do not tolerate any bullying among the younglings in the Jedi Temple.
    • At some point during a Time Skip, Vicky punched out Pong Krell when she caught him abusing his Padawan. She got in trouble for it, but the incident cost Pong his promotion to Master.
  • Clones Are People, Too: Dennis is disgusted over the Clone Army being no different from slaves, as they are made and indoctrinated to become soldiers to fight for the Republic's wars. Even more frustrating to him is that the clones themselves see no problem with essentially being created for the purpose of living only to fight and serve.
  • Cool Old Guy: Yoda, of course, even more so than he is in canon. To a lesser extent, Plo Koon also qualifies, seeing as he takes Taylor and Victoria as his padawans.
    • Count Dooku surprisingly counts as well, since the truth of Qui-gon's death is not withheld from him, leading him to step in to teach Obi-wan and Anakin lightsaber combat personally.
  • Cool Starship: Dennis' ship, Vista, which he uses to liberate slaves across the Outer Rim and smuggle them back to Mandalore until it's destroyed in an assassination attempt against Master Yoda and Master Windu.
  • Cuddlebug: A very literal example in Angelica, a mobile fungus that somewhat resembles a ladybug plush, puts out constant “feel good” emanations, and loves hugging and being hugged.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Taylor recalls being Khepri, and controlling everyone to save the world. This is extremely traumatic for her.
  • Dead Guy Puppet: Joruus C'baoth uses a corpse animated by Sith Necromancy to attempt to assassinate Padme.
  • The Dreaded: Much like in her home universe, Taylor Hebert is this to the Jedi. With her Agent creating a "disturbance" in the Force around her, the volatile emotions Taylor feels from her time as Khepri and the sheer terrifying combat prowess she possesses, there are quite a few Jedi who think she is already a Dark Sider. When the Jedi build training camps to prepare for confrontation with the Sith, Taylor is expressedly forbidden to function as the OPFOR. The only exception are Jedi Masters who are "trying to master their fear".
  • Dumb Struck: Taylor is so traumatized by her time as Khepri that she refuses to talk. Partially subverted in that she has her bugs do it for her in a creepy chorus.
  • Enchanted Forest: Like in canon, Kashyyyk is portrayed as one of the darker variants of this. Vicky initially assumes she's been shrunk by some parahuman power, and only realizes the truth after Skitter summons some very alien bugs.
  • Everybody's Dead, Dave: The six Clone Troopers who accompanied Taylor and Vicky, and protected the Jedi younglings, are the remaining survivors of the Kaminoan First Battalion (which had consisted of 2,000) in the aftermath of the CIS attack on Corellia.
  • Evil Me Scares Me: Taylor remembers becoming Khepri during Gold Morning, and the trauma shapes her for years afterwards.
  • Explosive Leash: Dennis/Kronos encounters a lot of these during his Slave Liberation raids. He gets around it by simply freezing the slaves and setting the collars off, leaving the slave underneath completely unharmed.
  • Eye Scream: Vicky loses an eye during the Battle of Corellia.
  • Friend to All Children: Taylor and Vicky in entirely different ways but the same end result.
  • Gladiator Games: Alexandria opts to join in a gladiator fight on Tatooine in order to get enough credits to leave. Her companions don’t exactly approve… especially after one of her victims turns out to be a friend of their host.
  • Godzilla Threshold: When Vicky turned the tide of the battle against the Droid Army in the Green Jedi's favor, Sev'rance Tann resorted to firing her ship's turbolasers on Vicky.
  • Going Native: During the first Time Skip, Miss Militia starts adopting Mandalorian customs, eventually falling in love and starting a family with Aras Saxon.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Taylor eventually learns Force Pyrokenesis, which most force users view as a novelty at best; the intense concentration required makes offensive use hilariously impractical. Taylor's superhuman multitasking abilities inherent to her bug-control let her use it to great effect.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Oh so very common. Taylor starts the story in one that lasts for years, Vicky goes through a minor one when she's confronted with actual deaths in a Trandoshian slaver raid and a major one when she finds out what happened to her in the original timeline and who did it, Dennis has a major freakout when he realizes that his memories of Golden Morning are real, which leads to him inciting one in Alexandria by highlighting how pointless all her actions were, and three years later Taylor goes through another brief BSOD during her trial of spirit when she recognizes she still has the potential to become Khepri. The only parahuman who doesn't go through this at any point is Miss Militia.
    • Inverted with Clockblocker, when Taylor reveals the actual end of the fight with Scion. He spends two days on a bender in sheer happiness.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Garm Pellaeon cuts down a B1 droid from shooting Vicky in the back before being gunned down by half a dozen more droids.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Taylor, as usual. The events of becoming Khepri and what she’d had to do to survive up till that point have left her mind constantly full of fear and hatred and sorrow because of everything she’s gone through. As such, many other Jedi in the temple are constantly thinking that her falling to the dark side is inevitable because of feeling her dark emotions in the force.
  • Hidden Depths: Senator Taa surprisingly enough when he gives his support to end slavery in the galaxy as according to Alexandria: "Taa himself, believe it or not, is actually rather well meaning... He’s just incredibly stupid.”
  • Limit Break: During the climax of the Battle of Corellia, Taylor requests Queen Administrator's help directly. She force controls several hundred lightsabers, commands a swarm large enough to block the orbiting warship's targeting sensors, and duels Darth Sidious-via-corpse-puppet, all at the same time.
  • Mook Horror Show: Taylor, already a Terror Hero in canon, is shown in action from the perspective of a hapless Mook. Deconstructed - confronting her memories of Khepri sends her into a Heroic BSoD.
  • Mythology Gag: Dennis/Kronos said "boring conversation anyway" after failing to talk his way out with a pair of goons in which he effortlessly beat them up.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: The surviving six Clone Troopers of the Kaminoan First Battalion named themselves after Earth authors and an epic poem: Guelzo, Pratchett, Orwell, Asimov, Weber, and Cid.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Both Taylor and Dennis criticized the Jedi Order's failings to be no different from the Protectorate's.
Dennis: This is the Protectorate. The Jedi, I mean. People who can be individually good - who want to be good - but then keep making the worst, most dumbfuck choices.
  • Off the Rails: The actions of the various parahumans incidentally derail Sidious’ plan to turn Dooku to the Sith. Several Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans respond to Dooku’s call for help, including Anakin, Taylor, and Vicky, as well as the mercenaries Dooku hired. Unfortunately, this leads to Sidious realizing that Dooku is a loose end, as he’s already revealed himself as Palpatine to attempt to turn him only to fail. He fights Dooku, eventually killing him with Force Lightning using the station’s metal as a conduit just as the Jedi Masters reach the battle.
    • Sifo-Dyas lived and revealed the Clone Army's existence to the public. This in turn did not led to the Battle of Geonosis. Without knowing about the CIS droid army on Geonosis, the CIS continued to amass their army and eventually launched a surprise attack on Corellia and initiating the Clone Wars.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Parahumans prove to be examples of this to various parties. Their powers are very different from what most people in the galaxy are prepared to encounter, including force-sensitives, and the Jedi High Council are unnerved by the shard's 'cold but not dark' force presence. This makes them very good at disrupting the established status quo of the galaxy, especially with Alexandria and Glory Girl both being Flying Bricks.
  • Point of Divergence: More than a few to list, some of which contribute to Palpatine being forced to adjust his plans.
    • When Count Dooku comes to speak with Yoda and the other Jedi Masters about the fate of his apprentice, Yoda and Mace Windu are more forthcoming about the details and explain what happened to Qui-Gon. This in turn leads him to taking on Anakin and Obi Wan as his new students. Dooku's teachings temper Anakin's ego to the point that he's nowhere near as boastful or arrogant in his abilities as he was in the films and comics. Unfortunately, this also turns Dooku into a liability for Darth Sidius, who kills him before Dooku can expose him to the Jedi.
    • The Clone Wars occurs differently here. Due to Sifo-Dyas living long enough to expose the Clone Army, the Battle of Geonosis never occurred, which also means the Jedi and Republic never learn about the CIS droid army. This leaves the CIS to amass enough of their forces to the point where they're able to launch a surprise attack on Corellia, kickstarting the war in the process. Several recognizable Jedi such as Jaro Tapal and Pong Krell are killed in the battle.
  • Rank Up: Taylor and Vicky are granted the rank of Jedi Masters for their actions against the CIS force that attacked Corellia.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Some members of the Jedi Council, while otherwise wary of Taylor and her Agent, are more than willing to give her a chance to prove herself and give her the benefit of a doubt. This causes tension with some of the more pig-headed members of the council, particularly Jarus who thinks Taylor should have been cut off from the Force, if not killed outright.
  • Reclaimed by Nature: The place Glory Girl finds herself in apparently used to be a city before a truly massive forest grew up in the middle of it.
  • Reduced to Ratburgers: Downplayed. When Glory Girl and Skitter are stranded in the forests of Kashyyyk, far from civilisation, they have to eat something to survive. Taylor opts to have her bugs hunt and kill a Minstyngar, which leaves Vicky more than a little disturbed.
Her question, or at least one of the many many many questions she had was answered before she could finish voicing the thought as the giant death beetles began to literally carve up the very dead… thing. Vicky wasn't sure what would make her sicker. The sounds, the sight, the smell or the fact that she was, in fact still hungry despite all of that.
  • Relationship Upgrade: After spending several years as close friends, Victoria confesses her feelings to Taylor, much to the latter's shock. They become an Official Couple, but hide their status due to the Jedi's rather strict dogma regarding personal relationships.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Kronos (Dennis) shows up in person at a meeting of several high-tier crime lords who have come together for the specific purpose of planning out how best to kill him. He then mocks the entire crowd and dares them to do something about it. Subverted in that he came to the meeting with three Jedi and a large Mandalorian strike team plus an undercover Jedi who serves as the viewpoint character.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: When Bail Antilles reads out Sifo-Dyas's crimes to the Senate, the senators react in appropriate shock to the estimated value of Sifo-Dyas's financial crime of several hundred quintillion credits; a fortune worth more than most planets to create the Clone Army.
  • Sinking Ship Scenario: The Valorum, the leading ship of the Corellian defense fleet, becomes the first causality of the Clone Wars when Trade Federation-made droids detonate the Valorum's internals before droid fighters and bombers finish it off in a surprise attack.
  • Sitting Duck: The CIS launch a Pearl Harbor-style attack on Corellia, catching CorSec, the Jedi Conclave, and the Clones of the Kaminoan First off guard and overwhelmed by millions of battle droids.
  • Slave Liberation: Dennis/Kronos takes to freeing slaves from practitioners such as the Hutt Cartel, and smuggling them to Mandalore. He gains a reputation across the galaxy for his abolitionism, as well as an absurd bounty on his head courtesy of the Hutts.
  • Sliding Scale of Idealism vs. Cynicism: Alexandria’s brutal realism vs Satine’s hopeful idealism lead to them clashing very often over what to do with Mandalore’s future, though they remain friends. On one hand, Satine is right that militarizing the Mandalorian people once again will lead to bad sentiments being dug up, possibly resulting in another war. However, at the same time, considering the coming Clone Wars, the Mandalorians REALLY need to get a stable defense. Alexandria herself is right in that militarizing the Mandalorians has allowed them to create a force of soldiers capable of rescuing many slaves and unfortunates from the more evil forces of the galaxy. At the same time, her rashness in militarizing Mandalore has caught the eye of Palpatine who sees a non-peaceful Mandalore as a threat to his plans, and also has jeopardized some of Mandalore’s relationships with other planets while strengthening others.
  • Snarky Non-Human Sidekick: In classic Star Wars tradition, Rugess the Bith winds up being this for Dennis.
  • The Squad: The six Clone Troopers assigned to Taylor are:
  • They're Called "Personal Issues" for a Reason: Taylor and Dennis, both having lived through Golden Morning, really don't want to talk about their experiences. Dennis decides to throw himself into his new life of being a slave liberator to cope. Taylor is a little more extreme, not even talking for years while she tries to convince herself that Skitter and Khepri are implanted memories, not herself.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Taylor starts doing this during the attack on the space station. Having Force telekinesis and a lightsaber helps a lot with making this a viable tactic.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Dennis spends much of the initial story convinced Earth Bet was destroyed by Scion, and acts it. After Taylor reveals otherwise, his mood and humor lighten considerably, though he's still dealing with trauma.
  • We Have Reserves: Like in the prequels, the Droid Army are dangerous by their sheer numbers during their relentless attack on Corellia that overwhelmed the Jedi Conclave and the Kaminoan First. Even Sev'rance Tann points out droids are easier to replace than Jedi as she prepares to launch a orbital strike on Vicky with thousands of droids in the vicinity.
Sev'rance Tann: That's the good thing about droids, Neimoidian. They're easier to replace than Jedi, regardless of how many you lose.
  • Wham Line: Master Mundi greets the woman who has saved Yoda, Windu, Dennis/Kronos, and Rugess. She reluctantly reveals her name: Asajj Ventress.
  • Worthy Opponent: Upon meeting Alexandria, Palpatine recognizes her as the first real challenge to his plans, and finds himself smiling at the idea.
    • He's equally impressed with Taylor after witnessing her abilities when Queen Administrator temporarily takes the driver seat. When he realizes Taylor managed to outsmart him by distracting him long enough for her bugs to eat his corpse puppet alive, he's outright jubilant. As his meat suit is being destroyed, he calls Taylor "perfect", heavily implying he's considering making her his apprentice.
  • Zen Slap: Yoda often does this to Victoria with his trusty walking stick, through her forcefield as well to ensure the point gets across.
