Once more, slightly to the left by Rosen Maiden is a fanfic based on The Camp Half-Blood Series and Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy while in the middle of the ocean one night, finally with some peace and quiet in his life has a rude awakening when he finds himself a decade back at Yancy on the morning of his fight against Mrs Dodds. Percy rolling with it tries his best to make the most of the situation he was flung into without knowing why and proceeds to try and save as many people as possible and keep things relatively on track without completely fucking over the timeline. No pressure!

It can be found here on Archive Of Our Own

Tropes for this series include:

  • Acquired Poison Immunity: After finally acknowledging and accepting his poison and venom powers. Percy has developed the ability to be completely immune to all kinds of poisons, even poisons which nearly killed other gods and titans.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: When Zeus has to reluctantly thank Hades and Poseidon for their assistance during against Typhon and at Manhatten. Poseidon milks it for all its worth which sends most of the council either outright cackling, hiding their amusement or like the demigods trying to stifle their laughter. This includes Athena by the way.
  • Action Duo: Percy and Nico become one during the Sea of Monsters and later prominently when searching for Bianca during the Titan’s Curse. The pair of them are often partners in managing timeline-related stuff due to their memories and abilities.
  • Adaptational Badass: It helps with Percy’s knowledge that allows Percy to circumvent certain events but also knowing his own abilities to take care of things more easily and quicker. Percy in the original timeline was no slouch and unlike most other time travel fics, Percy was twenty two years old and relaxing in the ocean, recovering from his trauma when he woke up back in time. This is particularly noticeable during the Battle Of Manhattan when upon facing Kronos without the Curse of Achilles and Kronos mistakes Percy as having taking it. He hadn’t. Or even with defeating Hyperion on his own with an Acid Hurricane.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Courtesy of the changes that Percy and later Nico and Thalia make. Immediately Poseidon shows up incredibly early on as a key ally and confidant to Percy and later Amphitrite is informed and replaces the nereid Percy talks to in St Louis and Santa Monica.
  • Aesop Amnesia. Annabeth didn't learn anything from the Battle of Manhatten regarding her pride. It isn't helped she was "rewarded" immediately after being scolded and told off for her suicidal plan for glory and her flaw being hubris.
  • Amicable Exes: Annabeth and Percy are this at the start of the story having mutually broken up due to a slew of problems from the trauma from Tartarus and their unhealthy mutual codependency. However the Chapter 65 omake implies there was more to their breakup with Percy realising its inherent unhealthy nature with Annabeth's need to defer himself to her due to her Pride.
  • An Ice Person: By around the Titan's Curse Percy has developed this ability to control snow and manipulate into spikes against Dr Thorn and the Clyzmanium Sow. And later Percy can be seen using ice shards to combat against Kronos' forces. That's nothing compared to Nico's who develops this power offscreen at his own station enough to freeze Spring Street though there were hints previously with his incredibly cold temperature and abilities in the series.
  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • When Chiron mentions that he took time off and hoped it was worth it to see Percy arrive alive at Camp Half Blood. Percy retorts, furious especially after Chiron still refuses to answer questions outright when it is obvious what he is at that point.
Percy: “So having them die because they can’t make it alone is acceptable?”
    • Percy also laters gives Luke one regarding why they are following the Gods despite their faults.
Percy: “You ever thought we’re choosing the gods not because we love or worship them but because they’re the lesser of two evils?”
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Poseidon is rightfully furious with Percy falling into Tartarus and even states that nothing is necessary to wander down there until Percy mentions why he was there.
  • Badass Boast: Right after the battle with Ares. Ares announces that Percy has made a powerful enemy. Percy retorts that so has Ares.
Ares: “You have made an enemy, godling.”
    Percy: “So have you.”
  • Bad Powers, Good People: This is discussed with Triton and Percy over Percy’s poison abilities as they discuss how does certain powers don’t make the person, even citing Nico, Hades and Zeus as examples. It still takes Percy some work to accept it for himself.
Triton: "Is death evil because the mortal media portrays it as such? Is your friend evil because he controls the dead? Is Uncle Hades automatically the villain because he is the Lord of the Dead? Is Uncle Zeus the good king and father just because he is the King of the Gods?”
  • Be as Unhelpful as Possible: Percy's default strategy with Kronos is to be the most annoying pest imaginable, by taking out targets, stealing supplies, blowing up monsters and the like. It seems to be working.
  • Beneath Notice: While not completely beneath notice, Amphitrite is able to directly contact Percy far easier than Poseidon can. Even more so is Benthesikyme who Amphitrite instructed to help Percy from being stung by the pit scorpion.
  • Beyond the Impossible: A trait of Percy which both Triton and Poseidon note with his growing potential, especially regarding his control of poison which but his general survival overall.
  • Breather Episode: Chapter 62, After defeating Kronos, Percy is immediately caught by Poseidon and the demigods and gods have a talk. All exhausted and weary from the battle but alive and well. It serves as necessary interlude after the tense fight and gives everyone a moment to relax before the council meeting. But also a moment for Percy to talk to Poseidon, Amphitrite and Triton.
  • Beyond Redemption: Luke, despite Annabeth's best efforts and even his own to fight off Kronos to no avail. There is no going back for him, doomed by prophecy and fate and Percy knows all too well.
  • Beyond the Impossible: A trait of Percy which both Triton and Poseidon note as his growing potential, especially regarding his control of poison but his general survival overall.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Percy displays a lot of this to Tyson, actively defending him against Tantalus and actively threatening him should he do something. This sentiment is also passed onto the other Campers whom Percy is doing his damdest to keep alive and to his little sister Estelle who is yet to be born in this new timeline.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Benthesikyme shows up just in time to stop the pit scorpion from biting Percy.
    • Poseidon is quite fond of doing this. He shows up directly to face against Kampê when Percy asked for assistance
    • Then together with Hades, they coordinate an attack to defeat Typhon once Poseidon had enough time away from Oceanus to orchestrate it. Hades also turns up along with the other Olympians to aid with the Battle of Manhattan.
    • Hades shows up personally in Chapter 61 to help battle with Percy after the later is injured and to fight Kronos in the final confrontation.
  • Big Damn Hug: The first time when Percy is confessing the other timeline to his dad Percy gets a pretty cathartic hug from Poseidon after he mentioned that the reason his curse from Ares activated was facing the Primordial himself. And later continues this when Percy picks it up after his claiming at camp to include his fall in question and his strange control of poison.
    • Percy gets another one from Poseidon after escaping the Underworld and seeing the entrance to Tartarus and going through a clear breakdown needing a moment to recover.
  • Brutal Honesty: When Percy is not actively hiding things he has no problem being as blunt and honest as possible. When Apollo swears he lays it thick to him what happened and Percy has no problem admitting he near slammed the door on him when he was mortal or any of the stuff he did there.
  • Broken Ace: Percy has issues which while he mostly keeps hidden thanks to his wit. However it is clear he still has a bunch of issues. At the start of the story he has amicably broken up with Annabeth over their mutual codependency from Tartarus and the sheer trauma they endured. Percy can barely even speak the name of Tartarus or even think of using his other abilities for a long time.
  • Cathartic Crying: Percy manages to confront Poseidon very early in the story before and after his claiming at Camp Half Blood, unsure whether or not to confess the truth to him or not. After promising to not say anything Percy manages to breaks down and gets a surprising hug and reassurances from Poseidon who despite not remembering believes wholeheartedly in Percy.
  • Cerebus Retcon: It comes in part with Percy being older but also more willing to reflect on certain events on his life that he is repeating, especially on Tartarus and his suicidal ideations in Blood of Olympus. Percy’s self-esteem and abuse by Gabe are also realised and implied to be much worse than even canon let on. And guilt over things like Bianca's death still has him reeling from those issues. His relationship with Annabeth is also assessed and while they broke up on mutual terms, it’s implied in the Chapter 65 omake there was more to it than just their mutual codependency and horrific trauma from Tartarus. Annabeth is not portrayed as a villain here but it is clear their relationship was untenable with her pride constantly putting herself on a pedestal and expecting Percy to defer to her which after Percy’s own experiences and personality had him less willing to do. And this is after Annabeth had been trying to manage her fatal flaw.
  • Combat Pragmatist: If there is a trick or cheat Percy will use to survive his battles he will use them. Take Percy having Medusa until a false sense of security before chopping off her head before she or even the others can react to what occurred.
  • The Confidant: Poseidon. Later this includes Amphitrite, Triton, Nico, Thalia and even Apollo. But for Percy the main person he confides to about the future, his emotional state and his garnering powers is Poseidon.
  • Crazy-Prepared: When in the Underworld finding the sword, the gang unexpectedly run into Hazel and decide to try and rescue her earlier than expected. When Hades reminds him they can’t leave without permission upon initially rejecting their request. Percy simply reveals the pearls he got from Amphitrite during his first quest and has four of them, more than enough to save Nico, Thalia, Hazel and himself if necessary.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Hyperion certainly gets one in a shocking turn of events. When pondering on how to use his newfound poison powers Percy accidentally thinks of Kampê’s poison and invokes it in his hurricane, causing Hyperion to melt away in agony and in pain until he is dust.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Percy vs Two Hundred Monsters was never even a contender. Percy wins. During the Last Olympian, we see Thalia and Nico also exhibit this ability and are able to defend their section of their bridges with minimal assistance beyond cover fire from archers from the Hunters and Apollo's cabin.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Percy’s poison abilities. Already a canon ability of his since House of Hades but one he has kept under lock and control since Annabeth’s haunting comment that some things were not meant to control has him nearly commit suicide in Blood of Olympus over using them to save his life.
  • Cutting the Knot: Whenever there are situations that Percy can avoid a fight or situations he will take them. For instance, one example of this is Percy managing to convince Antaeus to turn his arena into a battle royale rather than Percy just fight him directly and instead have the monsters take themselves out, taking out hundreds of monsters in the process and reducing the numbers of death during the Battle of the Labyrinth. It also has the side effect of Antaeus sending Poseidon Father’s Day cards.
  • Dangerous 16th Birthday: Percy celebrates his fighting a war and by killing Kronos/Luke himself.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: For Percy, he regards his poison abilities as this. It has deeply traumatized them to the extent he is willing to go down to Tartarus rather than use them. It takes some coaxing and persuasion considering the situation to get him to accept it.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Percy has not lost this ability over the years of dealing with gods and monsters.
Prometheus: You are Troy. And you know what happened to the Trojans, don’t you?”
Percy: Good luck cramming the wooden horse into the elevator
  • Deity of Human Origin: While it has yet to happen in the story itself it is heavily implied throughout the narrative. Poseidon even noted at the start that the control of poison was a sign of godhood and domain and had Percy not held back against Akylys in Tartarus. He would’ve ascended as a God and Percy makes not of his blood being golder than most and if he can use it to save people, so be it. It is also possible this might apply to Nico and Thalia as both noted their own increasing powers, Nico especially and by the Battle of Manhattan they managed to procure unusual talents even for child of the Big Three Gods.
  • Determinator: After mysteriously finding himself in the past Percy is determined to exploit as many loopholes and save as many people as he can and prevail in the wars he knows that are ahead of him. We can also see this with Nico and Thalia.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: While it originally took the aid of Grover and the satyrs to take down Hyperion into a Maple tree, here Percy fights him directly on his own and is already on equal level with him until he accidentally summons a toxic hurricane destroying Hyperion with nary a scratch on him. It rightfully freaks Malcolm and Clarisse out along with the rest of the army Hyperion brought.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: We can see Nico develop this ability against the Clazmonian Sow creating fissures and flames against it. Unfortunately he notes Hazel is much more proficient in this.
  • Disowned Parent: Annabeth does this to Athena after the Giant War in the original timeline claiming she has lost the right to call Annabeth her daughter.
  • Dramatic Irony: Tons that come from Percy’s remembering stuff and other character not knowing Percy knows more than he should.
    • Grover mentions that Poseidon won’t like Percy sending him the head of Medusa never mind the fact Poseidon is telepathically demanding Percy to send it to him over the alternative which was Olympus.
    • Chiron’s reluctance to tell Percy the prophecy out of fear he would change is made redundant when Percy knows the Prophecy, lived it and how exactly it would unfold.
    • In the Chapter 65 omake there is a lot of it baked in Annabeth’s rant. Along with her unchecked pride, learning about the original timeline and how Percy chose to tell Poseidon over her about it and Luke’s death which was at the hands of Percy. She proclaims that Percy ruined everything, and stole her plans, quests and glory. Unknowing that the results of the current timeline are better with reduced deaths from the war, successful quests, an undestroyed Olympus and an Atlantis less battered by Oceanus along with Typhon being defeated far earlier to speak a few positives. She is particularly resentful about being Locked Out of the Loop and Percy choosing Poseidon as The Confidant over her and is insistent he needed her to manage things and make necessary choices. Nevermind during the battle due to her unrealised pride, she would’ve engaged the campers in a suicide mission to achieve glory and saw nothing wrong with it, let alone being the only one who could make the necessary changes to the timeline. It’s made even more apparent when Athena agrees with Percy’s choice, stating that Annabeth would’ve crashed and burned out by the second summer and implies she would’ve tried to make too many major changes that would’ve jeopardised things. While with Percy and Poseidon, they managed to coordinate and share their information and plans while covering areas the other could not, while attempting to retain the original timeline for the most part.
  • Draw Aggro: While on the Princess Andromeda, Percy deliberately makes himself the target so Charlie Beckendorf has enough time to set up the bombs and casually murders some of the monsters and draws Kronos attention in the meantime. Even still Percy is still being mostly evasive and is only buying enough time for the explosion set up.
  • Drawing Straws: A variation of it with Nico, Thalia and Percy playing rock paper scissors before fighting Hyperion. Guess who lost? It was Percy.
    • Funny enough Percy mentions this trope directly by which one of them to fight Kronos rather than just him. They seemed to have listened to him because once Kronos evades them the one to confront him was Hades note
  • Dreaming of Times Gone By: Apollo mentions this shortly after being told the truth. When Percy asks Poseidon about it he casually admits to it and informs Percy the more time passes the more he remembers of the original timeline. It can also be assumed that Amphitrite and Triton also experience this since being told the truth by Percy.
  • Dying as Yourself: Averted with Luke this time around. There is a moment where he does break through Kronos’ control but he quickly loses control, possibly due to Kronos' throne still standing.
  • Exact Words: Neither Nico nor Thalia believe Luke in their definition to be a "hero" but both Apollo and Poseidon point out to them the definition of a good hero is a modern definition and an ancient Greek definition would fit a person for their great renown and achievements. Thus Luke's death by the cursed knife still fits the prophecy.
  • Eye Scream: Polyphemus is blinded by Percy instead of being killed. This is done to debilitate him but also to prevent him from reforming later in Tartarus where he could cause problems for Percy.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Percy notes one of Medusa’s victims was probably a Roman demigod has a look of determination and fear on his face even as he was turned to stone.
  • False Reassurance: Percy tries to reassure Chiron he will remain at camp when Thalia’s Pine Tree is dying, knowing full well he will stay there three days max. And immediately head out for the Golden Fleece and Grover.
  • Fatal Flaw: Percy’s loyalty to his friends and family however there is another argument to be made concerning Percy’s recklessness which Triton noted in the original timeline after he discussed some of the events of Tartarus and how he ended there. Nico’s grudges, Thalia’s lust for power and Annabeth’s hubris is also noted.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Clarisse and Percy develop this and it becomes apparent during the Battle of Manhattan where they fight side by side while Clarisse fights against the Drakon while Percy fights against the army.
  • Forced Transformation: Nico has the unfortunate luck of keep getting through this. In the new timeline, he has already been turned into a hamster and later he also gets turned into a dandelion offscreen. Percy notes that the three of them (including Thalia) had been involuntarily turned into something, be it plant, animal or fauna.
  • Flechette Storm: Percy develops the ability to freeze water and manipulate ice over time. He notably uses this on the Williamsburg Bridge against Kronos and his army.
  • Foregone Conclusion: There is no saving Luke, Percy realizes once he sees the Fates cut his string again realizing the true significance of their Fates' actions and this point is repeated in Percy’s narration during the Last Olympian when Annabeth expresses a desire to save Luke. Similarly, Percy realizes when it comes to prophecies concerning people and their deaths this is also the case. Such as Zoe and while it is luckily averted with Bianca, that was only because she was not on the Quest. Her replacement Mary was not so lucky as she was crushed by Talos.
  • Foreshadowing: Percy's ascension throughout the story is stated as early as Chapter 2 Percy mentions his power and abilities like his water healing in unnatural even for a child of Poseidon and Percy recalls a conversation with Poseidon over Ahklys and controlling power was "a sign of destined godhood" and a "glimpse of domain." Importantly Percy mentions his blood being slightly more golden-tinted than others.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: While Percy ultimately understands Luke and his perspective his methods are far from the best and will do more harm than good.
  • The Gadfly: Percy’s modus operandi. He opens his mouth to provoke reactions to play as a distraction or actively provoke his opponents. It is scarily effective especially against Kronos. When on the Princess Andromeda, Percy served as an essential distraction so that Charlie Beckendorf could safely set up the bombs while Percy actively annoyed everyone while still avoiding active combat with Kronos.
  • Genre Savvy: While it helps with the knowledge of time travel Percy has been attacked by monsters and demigods alike far too many times to not know their tricks at this point. Upon rediscovering Apollo’s lost sun chariot and Hermes’ missing packages he notes the pool water will be good for the oncoming trap/ ambush they are about to fight. Lo and behold an ambush.
  • Glory Seeker: Annabeth. She is willing to actively defy Athena's and Percy's orders to hold the line on the bridges to set out and fight at the headquarters along with the other Gods. It's implied this is partially to save Luke but Percy notes this is also her pride talking. Ironically she can be seen accusing Percy of this in the alternative conversation of Chapter 65, having learnt about the original timeline and believed Percy to be taking her glory from the quests and plans he succeded in.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Kampê. Despite not even being recruited by Kronos she is one of the most terrifying and oldest monsters in the Pantheon and for good reason. Even Percy thinks of evading and escaping her rather than try to fight her but he is at a loss at how to handle her without endangering more lives and calls to Poseidon for assistance. Something he rarely does unless it is incredibly life-threatening. Unlike his indirect divine interventions, the situation is so serious Poseidon himself actually outright shows up to help take care of her, since she is one of the few monsters older than time, whom Poseidon, Zeus and Hades fought against during the first Titanmanchy.
  • Guile Hero: With all the knowledge he has accrued Percy is more than knowledgeable at using it to annoy the hell out of his enemies, to rile them up so they make mistakes and Percy using their flaws against them. With Antaeus for instance he uses his very concept of the arena to pit the monsters against each other leading into a twelve-hour-long Battle Royale and a lot fewer monsters to fight against during the Battle of the Labyrinth.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Luke suffers from this hard. There are small hints during the Battle of Manhatten that he tried to break free from Kronos control but to no avail. Percy believes and knows Luke is Beyond Redemption and cements this by killing him shutting any possibility of Elysium from him, that he might've gotten originally. Even later when Annabeth argues he could be saved or deserves to go Elysium, Percy counters that Luke actively recruited and turned their demigod siblings against each other and actively tried to destroy the camp even before Kronos. Even if Luke could theoretically control Kronos it would not be for long and would still result in a suicide. Not to mention the other campers would actively reject him if he were to live for all the damage he done to them and others.
  • Heroic BSoD: The impact of Tartarus had an incredibly detrimental effect on Percy but also his relationship with Annabeth as a whole. At the start of the story they had amicably broken up but the lingering trauma still haunts Percy and even his abilities.
  • Hold the Line:
    • The battles in the Last Olympian during the Battle of Manhattan and the battle with Oceanus is essentially holding the line as long as possible. Thanks to the future foresight Poseidon is aware of Oceanus retreat upon Kronos defeat but even with the heads-up, it is not an easy task since the war of attrition has been ongoing for several years at that point and gradually reaching the palace.
    • Athena outright tells the demigods to hold the line with their established perimeters and survive while the Gods directly deal with the Titan Headquarters.
  • I Can Still Fight!: Said word for word by Mark, a son of Ares even after he had just had his arm mangled by a giant. Funny enough Ares shows the same behaviour after having returned from fighting with Typhon heavily injured, continuing to battle at Manhatten and even personally showing up as Mars to ambush Krios at Othrys when Percy mentioned the Titan's stronghold.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Percy outright says as much to Poseidon went he recounted the past (future) that he did things that while Poseidon didn’t like were necessary for his survival and as a whole. He later repeats this to Amphitrite in doing what he had do to save other people and himself.
  • "I Know You Are in There Somewhere" Fight: Annabeth tries to do this with Luke. It fails.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Ares gets impaled with a trident in the abdomen during his duel with Percy
  • Inciting Incident: The main time travellers return to specific points when they discovered or relearned about the Greek World. For Percy this was with Alecto, for Nico it was after leaving the Lotus Casino, Thalia after she returned after being healed by the Golden Fleece and Hazel after reuniting with Nico in the Underworld.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Sally is still taken by Hades into the Underworld.
    • Luke is destined to die. And later does
    • While on Circe’s island, despite measures taken to avoid it, someone still turns into a hamster. It’s Nico.
    • Annabeth is still captured by Dr Thorn and is tricked into holding the sky
    • While Bianca lives, the hunter Mary who took her original place dies at the Junkyard instead.
    • Zoe still dies and turns into a constellation.
  • Internal Reveal: Percy tells Poseidon very early on about the truth much to his horror of all the things he has experienced. Everything. Including what happened in Tartarus much to his father’s horror and of all the things he experienced in just a decade. He later tells this to Amphitrite and Triton and much later to Apollo too after being unable explain how they knew the Romans to the God of Truth. Apollo especially doesn’t take it too well upon being told half of his children were to die in the next few years. Later on Hades has a Little "No" when he puts together the one who took something from Hephestaus Junkyard originally was not Mary but Bianca.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Percy is somewhat reluctant to take Ares's side quest knowing what it entails but as Poseidon telepathically points out to Percy while they could get money and other aid from him to help with the quest. Ares still has the lightning bolt and they need to retrieve his shield to get it. Percy reluctantly agrees but is still clearly unhappy with it.
  • Keeping Secrets Sucks: It’s more connected with Percy missing the friends he fought alongside and is the only person who remembers the original events. It particularly hits Percy after reseeing the entrance to Tartarus again having to keep most of his emotions about it hidden because he can’t his friends the truth why he broke down and having to deal with the fact he needs to endure the experience again. Thankfully this gets easier when Percy manages to reach out to Nico and later Thalia. Yet as we can see in the Chapter 65 omake it was necessary to keep said secrets as seen with Annabeth.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: A omake detailing an alternate version of Chapter 65 shows that Annabeth eavesdropped on Percy revealing the truth about his, Nico, and Thalia's statuses as time travelers to Hades, with Poseidon speculating that Athena would have to wipe her memory due to her not taking the revelation that Percy chose his father as his initial Secret-Keeper over her thanks to her pride acting up.
  • Living Lie Detector: As the God of Truth, Apollo is able to tell whether a lie or truth is being said, which forces Percy, Nico, and Thalia in a bind when they accidentally reveal that they know about their Roman counterparts and Camp Jupiter in front of him, and thus being forced to bring him into the loop about their statuses as time travelers.
  • Little "No": Hades gives one when he realises Bianca died in the original timeline after taking something from Hephestaus' Junkyard.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Everyone outside the time travellers, the Sea Fam (Poseidon, Amphitrite, Triton) and later Apollo and Hades have no clue that there was even an original timeline or that anyone has future knowledge or foresight into events beyond them.
    • In the Alternative Chapter 65, Annabeth really doesn't take well to discovering she was left out over Poseidon being a Secret-Keeper and really lashes out on Percy over it, so much that Athena steps in to defend Percy's actions and his wisdom to consult with Poseidon.
  • Making a Splash: Percy and most of the sea/ocean/river deities primary power consists of this. During the Titan's Curse Percy has managed to upgrade it to ice and snow having taken Thalia's advice.
  • Near-Villain Victory: An unintentional one without Kronos even knowing about it or being involved due to Kampê’s scimitars nearly fatally poisoning Poseidon and causing a crisis. Percy even says as much.
Percy: “It would have been a major victory for Gramps without even trying. Kampê wasn’t even on his recruitment list.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Thalia gives a brutal one to the person who stole the Sun Chariot from Apollo that even Apollo feels initially bad for before realizing who it was.
  • Non-Answer: Chiron is quite fond of giving them, especially to Percy who is “unaware” of any aspects of the Greek World much to Percy’s growing frustration who knows full well what these things are since he lived through the answers to his basic questions. Even ones that state that Percy is a child of a God not even necessarily which God it may be.
  • Noodle Incident: Nico mentions that he stole his Stygian steel sword in the previous timeline and again in the current one again.
  • No-Sell: Percy after assisting the Apollo Cabin with the chariot accidentally gets pricked by a Pit Venom Scorpion, a venom which nearly killed him in the original timeline. Small problem. It has absolutely no effect other than Percy subsuming it.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Rachel in the original timeline never let Percy forget about that time he tried to stab her with his sword.
  • Off Screen Moment Of Awesome: More so since the story focuses on Percy's perspective and some of the events he does not personally witness. Nico manages to defeat Minos off screen when Percy was cleaning the stables and does some otherwise spooky shit during the Battle of Manhattan Percy is not fully privy too purely because he wasn’t there. Though he does see flashes of Thalia’s lighting on her bridge and hears pieces of how Nico and Thalia were also crucial on their sections of their bridges that it gets to Kronos’ attention. Will later elaborates that Nico froze Spring Street, turned monsters into ghosts and drowned them in shadows. While with Thalia she managed to create multiplication arrows and lightning rain.
  • Off with His Head!: Medusa again thanks to Percy.
  • One-Man Army: Percy, Nico and Thalia all categorize as one and are the major game changers in the Second War against the Titans. It gets to the point where hundreds of monsters during the Battle of Manhattan against only themselves and them actively telling their backup to retreat so as they don’t accidentally kill them through friendly fire. Even Hazel gets her own little mention of her own exploits being the only Roman to remember and quickly rising through the ranks and gaining Dakota’s trust in a short time.
  • Only Sane Man: Hazel is the only time traveler with even an inch of respect for the Gods as opposed the trio of self appointed Chaos Gremlins and is recognized as such.
  • Papa Wolf: Poseidon shows a remarkable amount of it notably showing up directly to defend Percy against Kampê and him immediately showing up after Kronos defeat to help heal him.
  • Parenthetical Swearing: Dam and Schist are two swears that Percy uses often. Both are inside jokes that Percy was a part of. But it’s pretty obviously referring to damn and shit respectively. Funny enough the series does not shy away from swearing either.
  • Poisoned Weapons: Kampê scimitars.
  • Poison Is Evil: Percy has got in his head even years after first using his abilities in Tartarus and was haunted by Annabeth’s reaction to it that he tried to close it off. It takes Triton and Poseidon to talk him out of the further potential of his powers. And Will further explains Percy’s ability could also create effective antidote.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Percy notes to Hades during their first encounter that much of the incident surrounding the thefts of the bolt and the helm could’ve been avoided had the three of them talked about the issues and not immediately flung blame at the other. Fittingly Poseidon mentions throughout the story he and Hades have been having talks to rectify this issue and improved their relationship so much that Hades joins the battle early against Typhon in a coordinated attack with Poseidon and later joins to fight against Kronos one on one. He is finally told the truth about the original timeline after the Battle of Manhatten.
  • Power Incontinence: Percy upon accepting his poison abilities can barely control them. He develops venom in his mouth but beyond that he does not know how produce it beyond probably biting someone. Until that is in the fight against Hyperion, Percy accidentally conjures a toxic hurricane with the poison that nearly killed Poseidon to take care of Hyperion in a brutal manner.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: In addition the actual trident Poseidon wields. Percy managed to acquire his own named Current which can shrink to a necklace and thanks to the hilt containing sea water, he can manipulate it. Riptide is still Percy’s primary weapon but Current does help if the situation if particularly dicey.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Will reaches it by the time the Olympians appear after defeating Typhon early and the others start breaking down and ranting about Percy’s acid hurricane and killing Hyperion. Will rants about Nico downplaying freezing Spring Street, turning monsters into ghosts and drowning monsters into shadows and Thalia’s arrow multiplication and lightning rain.
Will blinked. He pulled a face as if he was yearning for something to scream into. Opening his mouth, he visibly searched for words before closing it again, snapping around on his heel and taking three steps away from Nico. “I fucking can’t with you!” he yelled to the sky. He dropped his hands, inhaling deeply and turned around again, levelling Nico and Percy with an impressive glare.
  • Rewatch Bonus: A lot of the interactions with Poseidon and Percy as the story progresses take new meaning when it’s revealed that Poseidon was gradually regaining his own memories of the past events but kept this information from Percy due to more immediate matters until Percy directly confronted him about it. Later when Hades is let in on the secret, Poseidon mentions that he saw some of Percy's memories as that convinced him and the one that struck to him the most was Percy's fall into Tartarus that cemented his trust and belief that Percy was telling the truth.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: Luke tries to give one to Percy by asking what his godly parent done for him lately. Too bad for him Poseidon has been active in aiding Percy and both have been sharing their information and cooperating to
Luke: “I’ve been used? “Look at yourself. What has your dad ever done for you?”
Percy coldly: “Plenty. Weapons, transportation, you want the whole list?”
  • The Rival: Clarisse still plays this for Percy, especially regarding the training and sparing matches they had after fighting with Gaea. And he actively enjoys fighting with her as she doesn’t hold back when they spar together. They finally regain this dynamic by the Last Olympian when they fight side by side together against the Drakon and Kronos’ forces.
  • Sadistic Choice: Percy mentions the destruction of Poseidon’s kingdom and palace over Olympus and while everyone involved agreed Olympus was the priority for obvious reasons it was still not a pleasant choice to be made.
  • Saying Too Much: This is what keyed Triton to the whole time travel business after Percy accidentally mentioned having a sister Estelle. Only problem is Estelle isn’t even born yet.
  • Scars Are Forever: It is telling that it is Kronos final hit on Percy with Backbitter that would leave a pretty gnarly scar on his shoulder considering that many wounds Percy gets are usually healed and do not scar so.
  • Secret-Keeper: Poseidon is the first one to know the full scale having been told of the fate his son had endured and survived the entire time and is more active in assisting with Percy thanks to the both of them sharing their knowledge and actively preparing for war as a result. Later Amphitrite, Triton and Apollo and Hades also join these ranks.
  • Seen It All: Percy has seen quite a lot and seen and experienced many of these things before. So when Dionysus brings him to Bobby Earl birthday party to convince him to keep fighting for Olympus, Percy yells that is exactly what he was doing and he knows full well that Kronos will emerge within a day and has the attitude of an experienced gamer trying very hard to press skip on the compulsory dialogue section.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: After pondering to himself in the middle of the ocean of all the wrongs he could right. Percy wakes up on the morning of his museum trip, twelve years old and in the past. It is later revealed Nico, Thalia and Hazel also travelled as well and while neither Apollo or Poseidon did so, upon being told the future they started to recall snippets of their memories too and work to make things easier.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Upon meeting with Prometheus Percy slams him down hard on all the points he is trying to present including any possibility Camp Half-Blood will fail declaring they will hold Manhattan.
  • Skewed Priorities: One of the main things Percy missed about the Curse of Achilles was not the advantage he got in battle instead it was skateboarding in San Francisco with it.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That:
    • Percy outright says this to Zoe when told if he was showed the trail by the Ophiotaurus. In actuality, Percy already has memories of events and was more focused on rescuing Bianca and Bessie than the trail.
    • Played for Laughs When asked how long Percy and Nico had their new abilities (poison, ice and turning souls into ghosts respectively) both of them share looks and estimate about a month and Nico agrees to go with that.
  • Taking You with Me: A non-murdery Played for Laughs example with Apollo joking about the next Great Prophecy taking about seventy years to occur knowing full well along with Percy this is not the case. Percy telepathically tells him he’s dragging Apollo with him to Tartarus to close the doors.
  • Tantrum Throwing: Kronos does not take to the news that Hyperion is killed by Percy all by himself with poison too well. While at the base awaiting to release the Drakon while he is actively cutting down support beams, flipping over tables and nearly killing his dracane bodyguards out of pure fury to what Percy, Nico, Thalia and the other demigods have been doing in defending Manhattan.
  • That Thing Is Not My Child!: Apollo refuses to acknowledge Octavian as his descendent upon recalling a dream about him, Percy notes that ironically Octavian is quite proud of his heritage.
  • The Power of Family: See also in True Companions but Percy, Nico and Thalia embody this dynamic and their commitment towards each other is noted strongly and even Prometheus doubts they can dissuade or convince Kronos to convince them onto their side.
  • Too Clever by Half: Annabeth. This can be especially seen after the Battle of Manhatten where she planned on the bridge to take the fight to Kronos against Athena’s and Percy’s better judgement, not seeing any fault in either. And seen especially in the Chapter 65 omake. Believing herself and her abilities to be wholly necessary to make positive changes to the timeline.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Luke plans on trying to kill Percy on a ship, in the middle of the ocean while in the company of a pegasus as his main transportation. As Percy puts it.
Percy: “Seriously though, what were you expecting? You’re challenging a son of the Sea God with a horse. On the open ocean. You realise there is only one way this’ll end, right?”
  • Trauma Button: Poison and Akylys. Tartarus is played seriously in this fic and Percy's trauma around the events he knows he will have to relive are no joke. When trying to use his poison ability to save Poseidon, Annabeth's voice still haunts him and Poseidon has to distract Percy to be able to use his ability. During his first quest and even seeing the entrance it takes Percy a while to recover and even after leaving the Underworld he needs a bit to recover from seeing it.
  • Troll: Despite knowing Percy knows about the Golden Fleece and in fact was told directly so by Percy. Poseidon still thinks it funny to send Percy a note with the words “Brace Yourself” on it. Then again Percy returns the favour by burning the letter as a sacrifice with “Brace Yourself!” knowing full well what it means. And Poseidon still in Percy's dreams says it.
  • True Companions: Percy, Nico and Thalia have become chaos gremlins. In their own words and have been actively working together and bonding as a result. It’s so strong that even Prometheus realizes that this companionship is more dangerous because they are unwilling to betray each other and will actively protect the other on top of their already insane power which makes them all individual One-Man Army
  • Undying Loyalty: Nico, Thalia and Percy have this towards each other. Prometheus even mentions its this quality to each other that makes them incredibly dangerous and unwilling to betray the other for the Titan’s side.
  • Victory by Endurance: Poseidon is preparing for this in Atlantis knowing Oceanus will retreat once Kronos is defeated but also knows the worst of the damage that occurred on the palace and people when he had to help defeat Typhon. They are trying for that outcome but know that if push comes to shove Typhon and by extension Olympus take priority. Even after Typhon's defeat, Poseidon returns to defend the position there, knowing it will only be a matter of time before Oceanus gives up upon Kronos's defeat.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Percy but only at the start of the story when he returns back to his twelve-year body and loses most of his endurance, stamina and power compared to his twenty-two-year-old self and his trusty sword Riptide. He is by no means he is not without his experience on how to wield a sword or even what his powers entail. It’s through this we see that instead of just cutting Ares in the ankle, Percy instead stabs him through the stomach with Current. He steadily grows to be Strong and Skilled especially by around The Last Olympian.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 13 has Percy get the Di Angelos out of the Lotus Hotel and in the middle of the chapter after Nico falls asleep and wakes up startled and starts talking about the pit, Gaea and Bob. It’s one of the first instances where another person has remembered the original timeline and only hints to more remembering.
    • Chapter 39: Has the situation go From Bad to Worse with the poison from Kampê revealed to be lethal and Poseidon is fatally wounded from it and Apollo and Asclepius unable to heal the wound and unable to fully identify the poison beyond its origins from Tartarus. Throughout both Triton and Poseidon manage to talk through to Percy and Percy despite it all manages to power through his trauma and mental block to remove the poison unlocking his power that he’s been suppressing this entire time. The following chapter has Percy glass ball of mortality start to break similar to House of Hades and while it is mostly patched over, shards are gone and it is held mostly by goodwill.
    • Chapter 43: The gang find Hazel in the underworld when handling the sword and as it turns out she remembers too. They manage to negotiate with Hades to let her go so that she can play a role in assisting the Romans with Mount Othrys.
    • Chapter 57 has the confrontation between Percy and Hyperion. Percy’s poison/venom abilities has been referenced at this point but his control over them has been limited to the venom in his mouth making some readers to assume Percy might have to bite someone to poison them. Instead Percy manages to summon a toxic hurricane with Kampê’s poison (for reference Percy had only been drinking poisons and subsuming them if he was certain he could get cured, Kampê’s is not one of them). This has a dramatic shift in Percy’s terrifying power and his implied ascension.
  • Wham Line:
    • In Chapter 51 Will asks a very important question that puts new tension and context to Percy’s poison powers and also how far ascending he has become since unlocking his poison abilities.
Will: “Has your blood always been this color?” note
    • The Prophecy of the Seven is mostly the same but with a few lines and placement changes that spell out Percy’s possible ascension as downright inevitable and even where it might possibly take place if the placement of the lines has anything to say. In Tartarus where Percy nearly ascended for the first time.
As foes bear arms to the Doors of Death, oaths be kept with final mortal breath.
  • Wham Shot: Chapter 51: While the narration has been building the possibility of Percy’s ascension to godhood from probably the start, we finally see a sign of how far he has already come to it and confirmation the change is already occurring and almost inevitable.
  • What If?: Chapter 65 has an omake. What if Annabeth overheard the conversation between Hades and the others and learned about the original timeline.
  • Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: Percy says this trope knowing full well Annabeth is going to immediately volunteer for the quest.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: It was the first sign for Poseidon that something was up that his child’s eyes were older than they should’ve been along with Percy calling him when he should have no clue of his existence at that point.
  • Worthy Opponent: Kronos certainly considers Percy and to a lesser extent Nico and Thalia as this, especially for all their efforts during the Battle of Manhatten. In his tantrum and his pure fury to cut down the demigods and especially Percy Jackson. Prometheus is shocked at this. And even in the original sequence, Kronos held more restraint and never said anything like that.
Prometheus: “You always said it is beneath the dignity of a titan to fight a mere mortal. I wonder –”
Kronos: “There is NOTHING MERE ABOUT THAT MORTAL!”
  • You Are Already Dead: One of Nico's little powers skips over the pesky issue of being alive and straight up turns people and monsters into ghosts. We hear hints of this during the Battle of Manhatten from Will and is derived by him using it in Blood of Olympus..
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Both Triton and Poseidon try to convince Percy of this when he is going through some serious Heroic BSoD when contemplating his poison powers and the trauma he got them under.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Percy is none too pleased when he finds out Apollo’s sun chariot got stolen, something that didn't happen originally.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: Percy invokes this to Kronos during their final confrontation together.
Percy: “I’m your opponent, gramps. You wanna harm anyone behind me, you’ll have to kill me first.”
  • Young Face, Old Eyes: It’s this exact thing in Percy that allows Poseidon to instinctively trust Percy enough to make an oath on River Styx when Percy shows strange familiarity to him and directly calls to him to confess the truth. Poseidon nails it on the head too with what’s so striking about it that no other God has.
Poseidon: “I shall trust you on this, my son. There is age to you that is … unusual for a twelve-year-old boy. A look in your eyes that speaks of hard experiences, of loss and perseverance. Almost like a battle-hardened veteran trapped within a child’s body. Something I cannot quite explain.”
  • You're Insane!: Hades of all Gods outright calls Percy this after he did what could be perceived suicidal attack against Kronos who was about to return to his true Titan form and was about to overwhelm Hades.
