Contrasting Sequel Antagonists that appear in the Pretty Cure franchise, including the anime series and the films. Due to the series often having different themes from one to the other, it resulted with villains that serve as contrast from the previous ones.

For the Pretty Cure heroes, see this page.

Main Series

Futari wa Pretty Cure MaX Heart

  • The Big Bad of Futari wa Pretty Cure, the Evil King, is the ruler of Dusk Zone and a destructive entity who craves for destruction in exchange for eternal life due to the Power of Destruction slowly killing him on the inside. He has been plotting the destruction of the Garden of Light and steal the seven Prism Stones, so he can destroy the other world he sees fit. At the same time, The Seeds of Darkness are the Evil King's three elite minions including Belzei Gertrude, Juna and Regine. They act and serve as the Evil King's lieutenants, in order to resurrect him after his first defeat at the hands of the Cures.
  • In the sequel Max Heart, the Four Guardians, Evil King's four elite minions, serve as a contrast to the Seed of Darkness. Both are the elite minions of the Dark King and have the same goal of reviving the Evil King after his defeat, but they are mostly contrasting in terms of how they do it. The Seeds of Darkness are at best Category Traitors and The Starscream, who intend to use the Power of Creation in order to break free from the Evil King's grasp by leaving him to die, while the Four Guardians actively want to revive the Evil King and are loyally devoted to him by continuing his plan in the shadows. To further highlight the contrast, the Seeds of Darkness are often depicted as serious and quiet, whereas the Four Guardians are The Comically Serious who keep a frowny face that doesn't stop them from their own antics. The Seeds of Darkness do not wear a cape, while the Four Guardians wear capes that can also serve as a weapon, in case of Circulas who used it in battle.
  • Baldez contrasts this to Belzei from the previous season:
    • Both are The Dragon to the Evil King and are also his strongest purple-themed right-hands. But while Belzei uses lightning-based powers, Baldez uses wind-based powers as well as raw strength. Belzei is an elderly man who wears a tight-fitting purple spandex suit, as well as having a white spiky hair. Baldez is a middle-aged man who wears a purple-and-red cape and has a purple straight hair.
    • While Belzei's shapeshifted form is an old man under the human alias Yuuki Genbu, Baldez is the Evil King's successor who would become the new Evil King after he fuses with him. Unlike Belzei who was absorbed along with the fused Regine and Juna to the Evil King, Baldez instead outlives the Evil King after the Cures defeated him in the prequel, technically making him the Dragon Their Feet and the Big Bad of the sequel.
  • Viblis differs to her immediate predecessor Regine, who are both red-themed villains and are the only female member of their group.
    • Regine has white curly hair who wears a tight-fitting red suit. Viblis has short yellow-orange hair and wears more clothing.
    • While Regine, in her true form, is notably confident and sinister who is serious when she talks, Viblis is extremely short-tempered and can be triggered by anything, often causing trouble towards her team members.

Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star

  • The Dark Fall heavily contrasts to the Dusk Zone. Thematically, they are both dark-themed evil organisations and are bent on taking over the other world for reasons, but their similarities end here:
    • The members of Dusk Zone are all specifically dark-themed in appearance, while the Dark Fall's generals are both dark and light-themed in appearance.
    • Their Take Over the World goals also differ. The Dusk Zone heavily focuses on straight-up world destruction by targetting the Garden of Light and by stealing the Prism Stones to bolster the Evil King, while the Dark Fall focuses on corrupting the Land of Fountains AND Earth before initiating destruction at the same time and they were mostly created by its true leader Goyan for this very purpose.
  • Akudaikan, the supposed "ruler" of Dark Fall, is a contrast to the Evil King. Both are the rulers of their own evil organisations. While the Evil King is the true ruler of the Dusk Zone who is the one calling the shots, Akudaikan is revealed to be Goyan's creation where he is revealed to be the real ruler of Dark Fall, with Goyan actually doing the real work behind the scenes.
  • Goyan is this to Baldez:
    • Both are the main antagonists of their respective series. While Baldez is the leader of the Dusk Zone who is actually the true reincarnation of the Evil King and is a threat to the Cures, Goyan is an ancient being and the creator of Akudaikan, who is really the one behind the scenes in the past 48 episodes to initiate his plan of destroying both the Land of Fountain and Earth, as well as the World Tree.
    • Both are the Final Bosses of their series as a One-Winged Angel. Heavily contrasting to this is Baldez takes form of the Evil King, while Goyan has its own true form not derived from a Predecessor Villain or a Greater-Scope Villain. Baldez is stern and imposing who is often soft-spoken but has some moments of temper. Goyan is a mischievous, abusive provoker where he is virtually not respected by his lackeys, particularly Karehan, within the organisation.

Suite Pretty Cure ♪

  • Siren is this to Eas of Fresh Pretty Cure! and the Dark Pretty Cure of Heart Catch Pretty Cure.
    • They were Dark Magical Girls and the agents of their respective evil faction who served the Big Bad before their redemption. Eas is Child Soldier who loyally served Moebius throughout her childhood. Dark Pretty Cure served as the lieutenant of Sabaaku is the clone of Yuri Tsukikage/Cure Moonlight and was created by him over a specific purpose: to target Cure Moonlight, but is not shy in targetting the rest of the HeartCatch team and is utterly dedicated to Sabaaku, who turned out to be Yuri's brainwashed father. Siren, on the other hand, was a shapeshifting cat fairy who served as Major Land's songstress, before she defected to Minor Land and went to the path of villainy after Hummy was chosen to sing the Melody of Happiness instead of her, becoming jealous in the process and joined with Mephisto, who brainwashed her.
    • Eas has a silver hair and wears a red-and-black coat-like dress that has two pointed tails. Dark Pretty Cure is dressed asymmetrically like Cure Moonlight, has a teal short hair, has golden eyes and wears a black dress and black boots. Siren, in her human form, wears a very casual clothing, has dark purple hair and golden eyes, as well as a gold-coloured necklace that allows her to shapeshift between her fairy form and human form.
    • Their relationship to their own masters heavily differ. Eas craved for Moebius' attention, thinking that she is worthy of his respect, despite his callous and pragmatic nature. Dark Pretty Cure is very loyal towards Sabaaku who sees him as her father, whose main goal is to defeat Cure Moonlight and prove her worth to him. Siren, on the other hand, willingly sides with Mephisto and the rest of Minor Land's like-minded members after defecting from Major Land, who is a jerkass and hardly has a close relationship towards the Trio de Minor even in times they have to team up.
  • Vanish from its sequel novel heavily contrasts to both Noise and Howling, being that he's a cosmic Force of Nature who resembles an Eldritch Abomination. Unlike both of them who are directly affiliated with Minor Land and are easily known by the Suite Cures, Vanish independently works alone and they are very unknown to them. Noise tries to remove all sounds to drive humanity into sadness, while Vanish wants to remove all echoes of sounds to instigate distrust and chaos towards them so they can drive them to despair and loneliness. All of their brainwashing goals are different as well. In Noise's case he lures his victims by putting a strange earphone onto them, Howling possesses his victims from the inside, while Vanish uses their victim's sadness and despair to brainwash them.

HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!

  • Red is this to Dune of Heart Catch Pretty Cure and Noise of Suite Pretty Cure ♪. All three of them are villains who brainwashed at least a minion to serve under them and are mostly hidden until their reveal in the last few episodes.
    • In terms of Dune, they have an extreme hatred for humanity which is rooted in their troubled past, who both wanted to wipe them out. Dune suffered at the hands of his abusive father, the previous Desert King, and became an unwanted child before killing him after making a Deal with the Devil to become the new Desert King. Red is the evil older brother of Blue, where he becomes a Cynicism Catalyst whose anger stemmed from his failed creation, his planet Red, and became driven with envy towards his younger brother who saw his world being alive and well. Dune is an ageless, Cute Is Evil young child throughout his appearance before his transformation. Red is a cynical-looking God who goes under his persona, Deep Mirror, which is a literal mirror with a red-coloured Psychotic Smirk. Dune mostly uses magical powers as one of his attacks against the Cures, while Red fights using his bare fists in a hand-to-hand combat against them despite being a literal God.
    • With Noise, both him and Red have a brainwashed minion who served as the fake Big Bad (Red to Mirage and Noise to Mephisto) and have an unrelenting vicious hatred for one particular thing. In Noise's case, he loathes music due to him being the embodiment of sadness and wants to turn all of Major Land and even other worlds to stone to cause sound to cease from existing at all. Red loathes the planet Blue, his namesake brother and everything associated with it after life on his own planet, Red, was rendered destroyed and driven to extinction, while planet Blue was thriving, driving him to his hatred, before planning to wipe it out of existence. Both brainwash their minions through The Power of Hate, but while Noise brainwashes them by using their jealousy and envy, Red brainwashes anyone who is associated to Blue.
  • Queen Mirage is this to Siren/Ellen Kurokawa of Suite Pretty Cure ♪.
    • Both were the Brainwashed and Crazy minions to the Big Bad who took advantage of their jealousy, as well as Fallen Heroes for that matter. Siren was a cat fairy who became Mephisto's minion (who was also controlled by the real Big Bad Noise) and her second-in-command after she grew jealous over Hummy who was chosen to sing the Melody of Happiness; leading to Mephisto using her insecurities and jealousy through the Noise of Evil. Queen Mirage, on the other hand, was a shrine maiden in Pikarigaoka and a former Pretty Cure, 300 years ago, where she suffered from unrequited feelings from Blue, leading to the real Big Bad Red using her jealousy to brainwash her into serving as the Phantom Kingdom's Puppet Queen.
    • Siren is a teenage girl with a dark purple hair and golden eyes, who wears a casual clothing, as well as a golden collar that serves as her transformation device as Siren. On the other hand, Mirage has a golden hair and red eyes who wears a much grander outfit, which is in the style of a gothic lolita.
    • Siren is a Musical Assassin who fights only herself and the Minor Trio against the Cures with the Negatones. Queen Mirage is an Orcus On Her Throne who heavily relies on her army of Saiarks and even the Cures she corrupted to do her dirty work.
    • Siren pulls a Heel–Face Turn during the mid-season of Suite (Episode 21) after her necklace was shattered thanks to having her desire as Pretty Cure being awakened. Queen Mirage pulls one much later in HappinessCharge (Episode 43) after she was defeated by the HappinessCharge team, leading her to go back to her normal civilian form and subsequently her Cure form as Cure Mirage.

Go! Princess Pretty Cure

  • Dyspear is this to Joker from Smile Pre Cure.
    • Both of them want to spread despair and like to use psychological manipulation to break their enemies down mentally. While Joker was actively a part of Pierrot who wants to drive all worlds to Bad Ends and drives his enemies mentally broken to make them incapable of fighting back, Dyspear was born from humanity's despair and wants to use despair as a weapon to crush the dreams of anyone she encounters.
    • Joker dresses in multiple colours including purple and is a powerful villain, while Dyspear dresses in black and red. Joker is a hammy Sadist who speaks grandiosely. Meanwhile, Dyspear speaks cryptically in a cold, quiet tone. In contrast to Joker who serves as the Dragon-in-Chief to the Big Bad Pierrot, Dyspear is the Big Bad for the entirety of the series before her to-be Dragon Their Feet Close fused with her for the final time. And unlike Joker, Dyspear can remove her brainwashed victim's memories and implant Fake Memories onto them.

KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode

  • The Kirakiraru thieves are this to the previous series' Monster of the Week. Unlike many of the other Monster of the Week in previous Precure series, these are fully intelligent with personalities of their own. They are not comprised of people or objects, but rather absorb the kirakiraru of their favorite dessert to assume their more monstrous forms. They are also not destroyed when defeated, rather reverting to their fairy forms.
  • The Servants of Noir are a contrast to previous franchise's villainous factions.
    • Whereas most Precure shows have one method for creating Monsters of the Week, the group's methods vary widely, and some don't even use it to make monsters (Julio's Morph Weapon) or change the form of one of their own (Bibury's Doll).
    • Unlike the previous villainous factions of the franchise who are an organisation, the Servants of Noir are a ragtag group of outcasts who are more so classified as partners-in-crime than a full-blown organisation. And unlike the previous factions who were made in-house, they are mostly Noir's hired help from the outside.
  • Erisio is this to Bel from Doki Doki Pre Cure and Noise from Suite Pretty Cure ♪.
    • In terms of Bel:
      • Both are the top minions of the Big Bad and are (in)famously known for backstabbing anyone else within their respective organisations and later the Dragon Ascendant after usurping the position from them. Bel is one of the primary agents of Jikochuu whose real form at the end is revealed to be a mouse, while Erisio is Noir's traitorous lieutenant who is actually Noir's original body birthed from his past negative emotions, which is empowered by the dark kirakiraru.
      • Bel is an elderly man with a grey beard and a mustache and wears a black glasses and a formal-looking clothing comprising of a black coat with green lining. Erisio, in his human form, is a young man who has a long white hair tied in a thick braid and wears a classier outfit including a long dark grey coat, pants and blue flat shoes. Bel is a hammy, highly unempathetic Smug Snake who thinks only for himself and arrogantly thinks he can defeat the Cures by himself, when in reality he has to rely with the rest of the Selfish Trio and later the fragments of King Jikochuu to even succeed it, and is Brilliant, but Lazy, owing to his theme of sloth. Erisio is a calm and blunt, yet embittered man who uses his magical cards in battle and is an absurd determinator who is a formidable threat and can handle a lot of beating, who wants to stop at nothing against the KiraKira team to push his utopia agenda at the expense of humanity's emotions.
      • Bel becomes the Proto-Jikochuu by consuming the rest of the King Jikochuu's fragments, where he goes on his plan of For the Evulz to corrupt the planet by spreading selfishness to all of humanity and likes to break people's wills about love not being used to stop selfishness and/or evil. Erisio, on the other hand, betrays both Noir and Lumière, as well as Diable and Glaive, and transforms into a form with a black-and-white half (Noir and Lumière's own, respectively) by absorbing them to his cards who wants to create a "peaceful" utopia to his own specifications by erasing emotions (including selfishness), seeing as how they are often chaotic and are often the cause of humanity's conflict. Their fates are also inverted- Bel, while not killed, was reduced to his mouse form when the Proto-Jikochuu is destroyed, whereas Erisio survives, reforms, and leaves the planet, while also destroying the cards of the people he betrayed and killing them.
    • In terms of Noise:
      • Both are delusional Straw Nihilists and extremists who have a very grey, skewed view towards human emotions. Noise was born from the sorrows of humanity who believes music only brings sorrow and not eternal happiness that as long as sadness exists, he will always be reborn. Erisio was born from Noir's original body that was empowered by the kirakira from Lumière, who sees The Evils of Free Will within humanity — who are easily swayed by emotions — and how both love and hate are unequal, chaotic feelings that will always lead to a conflict no matter the circumstance. Noise speaks very loudly and hammily. Erisio is soft-spoken and quiet.
      • Both wanted to get rid of emotions entirely to create their own ideal, perfect utopia. While Noise wants to get rid of them through silencing music by turning humanity to stone with his screams, Erisio does it by removing their emotions and memories directly from them and store it inside of him, making them emotionless as he described.
      • Both also become the Final Bosses who have their true form. While Noise absorbs the Trio de Minor including Falsetto, Baritone and Bassdrum and transforms into a humanoid corvid with black feathers, Erisio absorbs both Noir and Lumière to his cards and is the same as his human form, except he embodies the fusion of both of them and he wields a long staff with a crescent-shaped blade.
  • Noir is this to King Jikochuu/King Trump from Doki Doki! PreCure. Both are The Corrupter and were once humans who have been turned to evil due to their selfish desires, subsequently becoming the leaders of their own evil faction.
    • King Jikochuu is a giant, hulking monster who towers over anything who is unclothed, has red eyes and a creepy laughing face. Noir is a former human turned dark being who is much shorter than King Jikochuu, wears black-coloured clothing and his face is obscured with a white mask.
    • King Jikochuu's true identity is Trump Kingdom's king who was consumed by the Proto-Jikochuu after curing Ange. Noir's true identity is a war veteran who was at his last clutches of his life before the patissière Lumière saved him from the jaws of his death.
    • King Jikochuu's Fatal Flaw is Pride who, as King Trump in the past, attempted to save Ange from an illness at the direct expense of waking up Proto-Jikochuu, leading to Trump Kingdom's fall. Noir's fatal flaw is Greed as he is pettily evil towards Lumière for not giving him her own sweets to suit his unreasonable demands, leading him to stain all of Ichigozaka in darkness and has a hatred for sweets ever since.
    • King Jikochuu exploits human's selfish desires, while Noir exploits human's insecurities and resentments.
    • While King Jikochuu is the Big Bad before his purification in Episode 48, Noir's Big Bad position was later usurped by Erisio during Episode 46.
  • Bibury serves as a contrast to Regina from Doki Doki Pretty Cure. Both were corrupted twice by the Big Bad, are selfish and had obsession for their leader's attention before their complete redemption.
    • Regina is the dark half of Marie-Ange who was created after her original vessel sacrificed herself. Bibury is an ordinary girl who is 100 years old.
    • Regina is openly selfish, vain and spoiled who openly hates others, treating others like peasants and is a narcissist who sees herself as more beautiful than others. Bibury is rude, obnoxious and sometimes outright rumour-mongering that she spreads rumours for childish purposes, where all of this were simply hidden underneath her insecure side of being a lonely child.
    • This also extends to their relationship with the Big Bad. Regina was brainwashed twice by the King Jikochuu and played on her Fatal Flaw and she's his supposed daughter; Bibury is an orphan who actually became Noir's Unwitting Pawn when she was manipulated by him by engineering her solitude, under the guise of him loving her by crafting her signature doll Iru.
    • Regina has varied abilities, ranging from Jikochuu summoning to equipping the Miracle Heart Glaive in later episodes as her signature weapon. Bibury relies on mental attacks including brainwashing others to make her victims believe in gossips and bad rumours; as well as using her doll Iru which she uses to transform it into different forms, before it finally disappears after she was purified.

HuGtto! Pretty Cure

  • The Criasu Corporation are a contrast to the following:
    • To the Phantom Kingdom of HappinessCharge Pretty Cure! but they are far different to them in many ways.
      • The Phantom Kingdom is an empire led by Red and his brainwashed Puppet Queen Queen Mirage, the former Cure Mirage, in the past with its members turning out to be humans who were forced to join. Criasu Corporation is a company from the future which is led by its CEO George Kurai, the definitive Big Bad of HuGtto.
      • Both wanted to remake the world In Their Own Image. The Phantom Empire were mostly sealed until Hime Shirayuki's accidental mistake caused them to invade Blue Sky Kingdom who wanted to remake planet Blue as their own under Red's tyranny. Criasu focuses on freezing all of Earth's time under the guise of George's own Earth having "eternal happiness" by erasing every tinge of future.
      • The Phantom Empire members all dressed in outfits befitting to their medieval image. Criasu members dress much more modern to befit their image as people from the distant future.
      • Phantom Empire members are magical users who all use magic, while the Criasu members all lean to the scientific, whose powers mostly come from inventions and technologies.
    • The Criasu are also different to their immediate predecessors, the Servants of Noir of KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode.
      • The Servants were corrupted and brainwashed by Noir by taking their Kirakiraru inside of their hearts, leading them to become his high-ranking lieutenants (until Erisio's betrayal of Noir). Criasu's members, on the other hand, all fell to despair like them and willingly joined in with Kurai, but they aren't on friendly terms with each other and are on their own Enemy Civil War, creating a case of Enemy Mine where splintered factions separately led by Kurai's high-ranking members were created and were at war with each other.
      • The remaining defected members of Noir's disciples were imprisoned inside Erisio's own world during the Grand Finale, while the defected Criasu members including Traum, Jeros, Takumi and Jinjin became Eleventh Hour Rangers and joined in on the Cures against the battle with Kurai.
      • The Servants are simply a ragtag team of five villains led by their leader Noir. Criasu is a much bigger organisation led by the CEO Kurai, which has a lot of branches across the globe and in the distant future.
      • All members of the Servants of Noir wear black clothing that befits their Evil Wears Black nature. Criasu members wear clothing that have a variety of colours.
  • George Kurai, the Big Bad of HuGtto, is a contrast to the following:
    • He is different to his immediate predecessor Noir from KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode.
      • Noir has a seeming hatred towards sweets and towards the patissière Lumière for not giving all of it to him out of greed, leading him to be corrupted who wants to turn everything into darkness. George was driven to insanity after his wife Hana in the future was tragically killed, leading him to create Criasu Corporation dedicated to expunge and remove every future to pave way for his "eternal happiness" goal.
      • Noir is a human from the past who predominantly wears black clothing like his own name, as well as white mask. George is a human from the future who wears formal clothing.
      • Noir believes that only negative emotions should exist by spreading it. On the contrary, George believes in eternal happiness and positive emotions through stopping time and erasing anything about the future.
      • While Noir was the Big Bad of KiraKira before Erisio took his spot in Episode 46, George is the Big Bad throughout the entire run of HuGtto until his final appearance in Episode 48.
      • Noir is selfish and hot-tempered to the point that he cannot stand failure from his subordinates and manipulates others by using their worst qualities to get them to joining him. George is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who started out as gentle, kind and sophisticated, before revealing to be a hypocritical Bad Boss who is obsessed with Hugtan, going so far in torturing the rest of Hana's Cure team in a manner of Cold-Blooded Torture just to achieve his goal of shaping his own perfect future utopia.
    • He is also different to Erisio, another villain from the predecessor series.
      • Erisio is a Straw Nihilist who views emotions and memories as catalysts to human conflict and wants to remove both. George is a delusional Manipulative Bastard who sees negative human emotions as problems for his utopic world of eternal happiness, who is not above using questionable methods to achieve it.
      • Erisio was Noir's vessel in the past who considers himself as a hollow shell to him. George is a flesh-and-blood human from the future.
      • Despite their differences in goals and philosophies, they are both equally similar. Both wanted to fix the world by removing emotions and are not above in using others to achieve it, at the expense of human lives.
    • In the meta sense for the franchise, he is the first Pretty Cure human villain who is not brainwashed and manipulated by a leader or a higher power in the shadows.
  • Dr. Traum is this to Sirloin from the Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star movie Tic-Tac Crisis Hanging by a Thin Thread! (picture above). Both use the powers of time against other worlds to stop it forever and are heavily arrogant and boastful towards their opponents.
    • Sirloin is a middle-aged man who has a long black hair, rarely-seen red eyes from his sunglasses, black tuxedo and brown gloves. Traum is an older tall man who has grey hair and blue eyes and wears a very Victorian era outfit with clock themes on it. Sirloin aligns on the archaic past who heavily relies on his magical prowess, while Traum aligns on the distant future who uses his scientific mind in battle including his inventions. Unlike Sirloin whose time powers come from magical means, Traum's time powers come from science through his multitude of inventions and technologies he created.
    • Sirloin is soft-spoken, calm and collected who works by himself despite being a member of the Dark Fall. Traum, on the other hand, wildly contrasts to Sirloin as he is an oddball Mad Scientist known for being incredibly over-the-top who works with the other Criasu members at first, even though he cares less for his team and his co-workers for his single-minded goal of defeating the Pretty Cure. Furthering the contrast, Sirloin's intention to stop time is so that he can solely do whatever he wants, which borders to Bond Villain Stupidity. Traum does it to not only effortlessly stop time, but he can use it to convert Asu Power into Toge Power so that he can empower himself and subsequently summon Oshimadas and monsters from past Cure seasons. Unlike Sirloin who did not redeem himself at the end, Dr. Traum has standards for a villain, as he's Ruru's creator (based on his daughter), and ultimately redeems himself at the end of the series.
  • Bicine contrasts to both Pikario/Julio and Bibury from KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode.
    • Both him and Pikario were fairies who had a hate towards someone and were turned into humans by the Big Bad.
      • Pikario is a rabbit-like fairy, while Bicine is a hamster-like fairy.
      • Pikario's human transformation was due to his hatred towards his older sister Kirarin and her talents that led Noir to take advantage of it. Bicine's human transformation started when he, Listol and Harry were deceived by the Criasu into thinking they could heal their village from a deadly plague where they took the most drastic way of burning it to the ground that killed all of the plague-stricken hamsters living in there.
      • Pikario started off as the Arch-Enemy towards Kirarin/Ciel Kirahoshi, his older twin. Bicine becomes Harry's Arch-Enemy due to betraying him and later towards Homare as Harry has fellings to her to the point that he wants to eliminate both him and Homare by attempting to invade inside of him with Traum's invention.
      • Pikario is a cynical fairy embittered by his inferiority complex towards his sister, but he longed for her appreciation despite the said hate towards her. Bicine is an emotionally unstable fairy who trusts no one especially including Harry and later Listol, who is easily taken advantage of by George, and it escalated to a point where he resorted to attacking not only the Cures but the rest of the defected Criasu members including Listol himself.
    • He's a contrast to Bibury in a few aspects.
      • Both were orphaned at a young age, though their circumstances of becoming one are different to each other. Unlike Bibury whose solitude was engineered by Noir, Bicine's solitude was voluntarily done by him due to Criasu's heinous actions during their mass-burning of Harihari Township.
      • Bibury is a young girl who is actually 100 years old. Bicine is a hamster fairy who takes the form of a young boy.

Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure

  • The Byo-gens are this. Compared to the Precure season beforehand, these villains, although displaying quirkiness at times, are outright evil (points go to Batetemoda and Daruizen, who are both played as serious threats), considering they are formed from diseases and parasites. None of them do a Heel–Face Turn either, with only Guaiwaru turning against King Byo-gen only because he had ulterior motives for his own benefit. In the end, every single one of them end up getting purified and/or simply Killed Off for Real, the first faction in Pretty Cure history to do this.

Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure

  • Butler is one to Goyan from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star.
    • Both seem like harmless right hand men (Goyan to Akudaikan and Butler to The Witch of Delays) at first, but as the series progresses, it becomes clear there’s something up, and they ultimately usurp the Final Boss position from the intended Big Bad. While Akudaikan is revealed to be Goyan's puppet, Butler is the one who is revealed to be forgetting the Witch's past so that he decides to use her as means to bring the end of the world.
    • Their plans are also to eliminate all life, but whereas Butler only wished to destroy all life, Goyhan sought to obliterate the planet. Additionally, Goyhan actually killed his supposed superior while Butler did not kill his. Finally, Butler ends up surviving the series but is left in a catatonic state while Goyan gets obliterated by the Cures (and two of their friends) of his season.

Delicious Party♡Pretty Cure

  • Fennel/Godatz is this to both King Byogen from Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure and Darknest from Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure. All three villains are shrouded in shadow and are vaguely hidden until the last couple of episodes.
    • In terms of King Byogen, both have a righthand woman who yearns for their approval. They both have an avatar they use to communicate with their subordinates as well (a demonic face for King Byogen, a cat shaped hologram for Godatz) while not participating in any battles. While King Byogen was just using a fraction of his power and feigned his own death as part of a Batman Gambit, Godatz himself used it to hide his true identity and use his high ranking to provide Delicioustones to the Bunduru Gang.
    • In terms of Darknest, both are associated with the Big Good faction (Darknest being one of the Star Princesses and Godatz being one of the Cook Fighters). However, Darknest was a Star Princess who disagreed with the idealogy of the other Star Princesses and left to form her villainous faction, while Fennel worked under the shadows to play both factions. Coincidentally, both of their episodes where they are first encountered by the Cures are Christmas-themed as well, but while the Darknest fought was Actually a Doombot and would have her true identity revealed a few episodes later, Fennel revealed his true colors after Secretoru got taken down after her fight.
  • On the other hand, Godatz's The Dragon Secretoru has comparisons to Shindoine, the Butler and Listol from Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure, Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure and HuGtto! Pretty Cure respectively (all three served as the right hand to their masters).
    • In terms of Shindoine, both of them are extremely loyal to their masters to yearn for their approval. However, while Shindoine was obsessively devoted as she had a crush on King Byogen, Secretoru feels like she will achieve perfection by serving Godatz. Additionally, both of them aren't immune to engaging in similar antics to the Cures, whether if it's watching the same drama or eating the same candy as another Cure.
    • In terms of the Butler, both are The Handler to their masters and assign missions to their subordinates. They also don't tolerate failure and have threatened to kick out one of their subordinates if they failed their mission after too many failures. They even share similar themed names (serving as a butler and secretary to their respective masters). However, while Butler has motives which end up being far sinister than the witch he served, Secretoru's motives stem from a desire of being perfect and her master Godatz ends up being a far more threatening foe than she is.
    • In terms of Listol, they serve as the secretary of the Big Bad and are the most loyal to them before they were subsequently betrayed by their masters. In contrast, while Listol is a perpetually stern man in human form who is notably strict to his subordinates but teams up with them including Bicine, Secretoru is a sarcastic, sharp-witted woman who values perfection, but can be very stubborn to the core, caring less about teamwork who prefers to work all by herself.

Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure

  • Skearhead contrasts with Illkubo from Futari wa Pretty Cure, Goyan from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star and Butler from Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure.
    • In case for Illkubo, both are cloaked, bald beings who serve as a Big Bad's right hand man, but that’s where the similarities stop.
      • Illkubo was loyal to the Dark King, and in the dub, his final words were him complaining about this as he was being killed. Skearhead is not loyal to the Empress and has, in fact, been manipulating the Undergu Empire the entire time.
      • Illkubo detested any form of good and personally took Kiriya back to the Dusk Zone to be punished after he refused to keep fighting. Skearhead detests anything but his might makes right mentality and turns Minoton into a Ranborg after he wastes too much time.
      • Illkubo was directly killed by the Dark King after he felt that he might destroy the Prism Stones. Skearhead attacks the Empress and drags her back to the Undergu Empire after faking his death.
      • Illkubo, while serving as the penultimate opponent for the Cures, was not the final opponent before the first battle with the Dark King (and even then, the Seeds of Darkness and Shittenou appeared after his death). Skearhead is the exact opposite of this, being the final opponent after the Empress is defeated.
      • When Illkubo assumes a One-Winged Angel form, he turns into a monstrous giant that is a far cry from how he looked previously. By contrast, Skearhead’s final form merely changes his skin to be purple, and his true form after that is animalistic.
    • In case of Goyan and Butler, they are the right-handed men for their supposed ruler, only to reveal in the final arc that they are the true main antagonist of their season. But he's different from them for reasons:
      • For both, Goyan and Butler never partake in battles until very late in the story, while Skearhead is the fourth enemy that the Cures had to face with his ability to summon Kyoborg. This further expands into the Final Boss role after the Empress was defeated in the last episodes.
      • For Goyan, he creates Akudaikan for his supposed role before absorbing it later on, while Skearhead gave Fake Memories to the Empress for his false love. While Goyan absorbs his minions later in the story, Skearhead kills the Emperor in the past and made Empress believe that Cure Noble was the culprit, and almost kills Battamonda had Mashiro didn't intervene on time. In terms of personality, Goyan is mischievous but becomes stoic after his final form, while Skearhead is always emotionless except when he was controlling Cure Sky with his Undergu energy, he becames elated maniac. While Goyan was ultimately defeated in the final episode, Skearhead's final form Daijarg was purified and goes off to the parts unknown.
      • For Butler, they were calm and had a poker face not shown to everyone until late in the series. But while Butler is quite strict to his minions and ask them to collect the motivation energy, Skearhead treats his minions as nothing but tools for his own selfish ideal with almost no interaction outside of Empress, even willing to eliminate those who he deemed unworthy for his belief. How they're treated in the end was different: Butler survived in catatonic state while Daijarg was purified by the Cures.

Other Series

Non-Serial Movies

Each Non-Serial Movie Cure villain contrasts between one to the other.

  • Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart: The Movie has the Dark Witch. She is an aged, silver-haired woman who lives at a ship graveyard, who works with the Dotsuku Zone but is working on her own agenda rather than working with the other members of the organization. She turns out to be the arch-enemy of the Diamond Kingdom's Queen and solely wants the Diamond Line to revive the Evil King for her own purposes. She is also a Devil in Plain Sight and a Card-Carrying Villain, who relishes in villainy by attempting to use the artifact without any regard to anyone's lives. Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart the Movie 2: Friends of the Snow-Laden Sky has the Big Bad Duumvirate Freezen and Frozen, who despite being similar to the Dark Witch from the previous movie, being that they are Dotsuku Zone's denizens working for the Evil King and are cold-hearted, both Freezen and Frozen differ heavily to the Dark Witch. While the Dark Witch is a solo antagonist who works on her own, Freezen and Frozen always work together and are hardly separated. While the Dark Witch is an expert in hand-to-hand combat, outside of using her dark energy, Freezen and Frozen use their ice powers exclusively and they never use any hand-to-hand combat. And unlike the Dark Witch who is a female, Freezen and Frozen are both male. While the Dark Witch wants to drive worlds into darkness, Freezen and Frozen want to freeze the whole world by destroying Hinata, the phoenix that supplies warmth and heat.
  • Sirloin in Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash☆Star Tic-Tac Crisis Hanging by a Thin Thread! heavily contrasts to the Dark Witch and Freezen and Frozen from the previous two movies. Like the Dark Witch, Freezen and Frozen who are affiliated with the Dotsuku Zone, Sirloin is affiliated with the Dark Fall, but unlike the previous three villains, his affiliation to them is nebulous and unknown. Like the Dark Witch, Sirloin is conceited and arrogant who is not above hurting others including the fairies Minutes and Hours to achieve his goal. His goal also differs to the previous villains: the Dark Witch wants to plunge all worlds including the Garden of Hope to utter darkness and Freezen and Frozen wants to destroy the phoenix to plunge the whole world into eternal coldness; but Sirloin, on the other hand, wants to freeze time forever. And contrasting to the other three, Sirloin has a One-Winged Angel form, who turns into a giant minotaur.
  • Shadow from Yes! Pretty Cure 5 the Movie: The Mirror Kingdom's Miraculous Adventure! contrasts to Sirloin. Unlike Sirloin who is male, has a black hair and dresses formally, Shadow is genderless and has a punk-rocker appearance. Shadow can also summon minions of their own including the Dark Pretty Cure 5, which contrasts to the lone wolf Sirloin who works by himself.

Pretty Cure All Stars Movie Series

  • Cure Supreme/Preme is a contrast to the previous villains of the franchise.
    • Unlike previous Big Bads of the franchise who are an Eldritch Abomination or a stereotypical Dark Is Evil, Cure Supreme is a light-themed Pretty Cure villain who is a Cure that is not an Evil Knockoff to previous villains like Dark Pretty Cure. She is, at best, a bigger contrast to most of the previous villains who are mostly embodying the Dark Is Evil trope like Black Hole in DX3 or the Evil King in Futari wa, as her bright colours and her hero-killing villainy truly show that Light Is Not Good.
    • Unlike most villains including Mephisto, Saabaku, Siren, Dark Tender and Queen Mirage who were all brainwashed by the real Big Bad into committing evil acts, Cure Supreme is entirely aware of her heinous actions and acts on her own accord. Also unlike them, she eventually got a Heel–Face Turn, courtesy of Puca (which put her into Light Is Good now).
    • She's a contrast to the Dark Pretty Cure. Dark Pretty Cure is an Evil Knockoff Artificial Human created by Sabaaku/Professor Tsukikage through Yuri's DNA, while Cure Supreme was created after splitting from its original form Supreme, serving as its evil half. The Dark Pretty Cure is a dark-themed Dark Magical Girl, while Cure Supreme is also a Dark Magical Girl, except that the "dark-coloured" aspect is verily inverted as she has lighter and brighter colours, a Hero Killer and is an evil Pretty Cure (at first).
    • In terms of Dune and Darknest from both Heart Catch Pretty Cure and Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure, she is a contrast to them in a few aspects. They plan to destroy the universe (probably The Multiverse in Preme's case) for their own agenda and for their reasons. Dune is the leader of the Desert Apostles, who wants to turn Earth and possibly other planets into desert but relies mostly on his minions including his second-in-command Saabaku for his dirty work before showing his true face as its true leader and the Final Boss to the HeartCatch team. Darknest/Ophiuchus is the disgraced former 13th Star Princess who heavily disagreed with the other Star Princesses about imagination, leading her exile before she bears the disguised identity of Darknest and later starting the creation of the Notraiders, where she wants to wipe out the universe of any imagination; before revealing her true identity as Ophiuchus in Episode 46. In contrast to the two villains, Preme a.k.a. Cure Supreme is the evil half of Supreme, who is obviously evil from the start and does not use a disguise, where her plan involves erasing Pretty Cures from existence and creating a new universe where she is the absolute and only Cure ever to have existed, to make herself the strongest entity in existence, where she does it all by herself without any external help including minions of an evil faction, which shows how much she easily curb-stomps 78 main Pretty Cures in the past when she was a winged celestial creature and plans to repeat the same thing after scattering the rest of the revived Cures to observe them in her own world.
    • Her goals are remarkably more different than the previous villains, as it involves a Cosmic Retcon to make an new reality where they are the heroine of said new universe by killing the Cures, rather than simply destroying it for good.
    • She heavily contrasts to Gooyan from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star. They are both similar in some aspects, being that they are ancient beings and are the ones really pulling the strings in their respective shows rather than the supposed Big Bad, with Akudaikahn for Gooyan and Arc for Preme. While Gooyan is at first a mischievous, sly imp who is eventually revealed to be a destructive entity at the end, Supreme is a No-Nonsense Nemesis to the Cures from the start, who actually splits herself into two personalities (Preme and Puca) to spy on the Cures. Goyan stayed irredeemable to the end, while Preme redeemed herself at the end after her defeat.
    • Another contrast she has is with Skearhead from Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure. Both are cold-hearted Social Darwinists who believe that strength makes everything right and bent on discarding the weak and are the No-Nonsense Nemesis to the Cures, who take another form to hide their true nature as a supreme entity, but she is different to him in many ways. Skearhead is the fourth enemy that the Cures had to face before revealing himself to be the true main villain in the series, while Preme (who is actually the cosmic entity Supreme) disguises as a human before revealing that she is The Mole to the Sky Team, eventually revealing herself as the villain during the middle of the movie. Skearhead is the embodiment of the Undergu Energy whose real form is a giant serpent, while Preme is the evil half of the cosmic entity Supreme who takes form of a human as a Cure. Skearhead's real goal is to find a vessel suitable enough for the Undergu Energy to be within its own host, while Preme's plan is the complete opposite to him; hers involves a Cosmic Retcon, where she wants to erase the Cures from existence and create a new universe in that she is the absolute and only Cure to exist, making her the strongest entity. While Skearhead proves to be irredeemable after his death... Until he is revived again in his true form before he was ultimately purified by the Cures as his remains Daijarg and left into the parts unknown, Preme ultimately redeems herself in the end after being defeated.

Spin-offs

  • Bell from Power of Hope ~PreCure Full Bloom~ is the opposite to the following:
    • Both to her predecessors Desparaiah and the Director from Yes! and Yes!5. While both Desparaiah and the Director have a motif of the past, are leaders of their respective villain organizations and are well-known to the Yes! team, Bell has a motif of the future, works independently and is an unknown villain to them.
    • To George Kurai from HuGtto! Pretty Cure. Both are villains who hailed from a Bad Future, but how they caused it heavily differs. George created Criasu Corporation in order to purge all negative memories from humanity, which was caused after the death of his wife Hana from his own future so he can freeze and stop time within the present. Bell works on her own, whose motivation to go back in time was after her town was destroyed by an unknown calamity, and sees humans as selfish and destructive, using their negative emotions to unleash an attack of Shadows in the same town.
    • Bell is virtually different to every past villains in the series, notably that she's the first who is not from an evil organization and instead works alone. She is also the first Big Bad Cure who plays a major, active role in the series' plot, rather than having the generals do her own work before appearing in the latter half of the series.
