From the quiet and reserved Cure Passion to the upbeat and energetic Cure Beat!note  Oh, and they're also former villains turned Cures.
Contrasting Sequel Main Characters that appeared in the Pretty Cure franchise. Far often than not, every main Cure from each season contrasts with one another.

For the Pretty Cure villains, see this page.

In General

The franchise's leads are extroverted, passionate Genki Girls, but there are occasionally exceptions to the rule:
  • Tsubomi Hanasaki/Cure Blossom from Heart Catch Pretty Cure is a Shrinking Violet, though she resolves to become more confident. While she does eventually become more strong-willed, her shyness never quite goes away.
  • Nodoka Hanadera/Cure Grace from Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure does have her moments of being cheerful, but she tends to be calmer than previous lead Cures, and she's also not very energetic since she deals with respiratory problems and low stamina.
  • Komugi Inukai/Cure Wonderful from Wonderful Pretty Cure! is the first lead Pretty Cure to be purely an animal who can transform into a human, rather than a pure flesh-and-blood human.

Main Cures

Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star

  • In terms of the leads altogether, both Saki Hyuuga and Mai Mishou heavily contrasts to Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro, the Cure duo from Futari wa Pretty Cure and its sequel MaX.
    • Just like the previous season's Cures, both Saki and Mai have to be altogether to transform and perform their attacks. While both Nagisa and Honoka's attacks as Cures Black and White are solely focusing on straightly defeating the Monsters of the Week, Saki and Mai's attacks often focus on purification rather than straightforwardly defeating them, which is a trend that would become more prevalent in the next seasons. Both Nagisa and Honoka use offensive, physical attacks in battle, whereas Saki and Mai aligned more on magical attacks. While both Nagisa and Honoka only have one Cure alter ego, Saki and Mai later earned another Cure alter ego (Bright and Windy) besides their original Cure alter egos (Bloom and Egret).
    • Before becoming Pretty Cures, both Nagisa and Honoka were virtually strangers to both each other who had nothing in common. On the other hand, Saki and Mai firstly met five years prior to the events of Splash Star, which happened after minions of the Dark Fall attacked both Flappy and Choppy and had reunited against her in the present when they were chosen to be Cures.
  • Saki Hyuuga is a contrast to Nagisa Misumi from Futari wa Pretty Cure. Both are energetic and tomboyish Genki Girls who both have orange short hair.
    • While Nagisa is very Hot-Blooded who is exciteable with the tip of a hat, Saki is virtually goofier and much less so Hot-Blooded than Nagisa. Their appearances as Cure also contrasts. Nagisa, as Cure Black, wears black-coloured clothing and her hair length is virtually the same as her non-Cure form. Saki, as Cure Bloom/Cure Bright, has a much longer hair as both Cure Bloom and Bright and wears brighter-coloured clothing, with shades of pink as Cure Bloom and yellow as Cure Bright. While Nagisa initially goes against being a Pretty Cure who clinged for a normal life instead, Saki easily accepts the said opportunity to be a Cure. Their relationship to their siblings contrasts.
    • While Nagisa has shown to be often annoyed by her brother Ryota's antics, Saki is a Cool Big Sis who dearly loves her sister Minori, where she even shared the same bedroom with her. Their commonalities to the other Cure also differs. In Nagisa's case, she has no commonality to Honoka whatsoever before becoming a Pretty Cure. By contrast, Saki has known Mai through a rather not-so-coincidental meeting five years ago before the events of the series, after the Dark Fall's forces attacked the series' main mascots Flappy and Choppy.
  • Mai Mishou is different to her immediate predecessor Honoka Yukishiro, despite being her Expy.
    • Both are the Foil to the lead Cure, being academically talented and are serving as the smart half of the Cure duo. Though the similarities end here in terms of their individual characterisation. Honoka is technical and intellectual who solves problems analytically and heavily has fascination towards science, while Mai is creative and artistic who inclines mostly to art and drawings; though, just like Honoka she has fascinations to science, due to her parents being scientists.
    • Honoka is driven towards her passion, being even brutally honest and strict about it and can come off as forceful or scary towards others for their laziness. Mai is much more relaxed and serene towards her passions, seeing how it has deep meanings to her and later drawing them heavily from inspiration. Honoka has some very tomboyish moments besides being a girly girl, while Mai is much more feminine in demeanour and appearance. Whereas Honoka lives at a Big Fancy House that makes her a rich person, Mai lives at a normal household with a more average life with her family.

Suite Pretty Cure ♪

  • Ellen Kurokawa/Cure Beat is this to Setsuna Higashi/Cure Passion of Fresh Pretty Cure! (picture above). Both were once the minions of their evil faction and later redeemed themselves to join their respective Cure team.
    • However, their pasts heavily differ. In Eas' case, she was born and raised all her life within Labyrinth as a Child Soldier to Moebius who worked as one of his lieutenants, whereas Siren was born in Major Land who once was the songstress of the kingdom until she became jealous towards her closest friend Hummy for being chosen to sing the Melody of Happiness, causing her to defect to Minor Land.
    • Both also have little understanding of Earth's customs at first and spent most of their time to learn more about it. Setsuna is initially very shy and reserved at first, while she becomes kind and cheerier after going out of her shell with the help of the Fresh team. On the other hand, Ellen is initially naive and fearful, who was completely haunted by the misgivings of her past as Siren and attempted to separate herself from Hibiki/Cure Melody and Kanade/Cure Rhythm, but she is later revealed to be upbeat and cheerful who regained her kindness, similarly to Setsuna.
    • Their ways of redemption and their change of heart contrast.
      • Eas, after being reborn, cause herself to betray the Labyrinth entirely as she has a change of heart and joins the Fresh team as Cure Passion. By contrast, Siren actively fixes the betrayal she caused by sacrificing her ability to shapeshift to her cat fairy form, fixes her relationship with Hummy and the rest of Major Land's residents and later joins the Suite team as Cure Beat.
      • In essence, Setsuna ultimately ditched Moebius and the Labyrinth ever since her redemption, whereas Ellen and her Cure team played a major role in fully redeeming the Trio de Minor, Mephisto and Noise (with the latter being simply born from humanity's sadness) during the Grand Finale.

HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!

  • Iona Hikawa/Cure Fortune is this to Yuri Tsukikage/Cure Moonlight from Heart Catch Pretty Cure and her immediate predecessor Makoto Kenzaki/Cure Sword from Doki Doki! PreCure. All three of them are the purple-haired, solitary and aloof members of their Cure team, are initially unwilling to help the Cures and had a personal baggage of their own.
    • Albeit they have troubled pasts in common and refused to help the Cures initially, they are all vastly different to one another. Yuri is a Broken Bird who suffered from losing her fairy partner Cologne, leading to her being unable to transform as Moonlight, who not only realised that she lost her father Hideaki, aka Sabaaku, she realised that he was the fake Big Bad and lost him twice. Makoto is the former songstress of Trump Kingdom, who once served as the last of the previous generation of Pretty Cures, before the attack of the Jikochuu in the kingdom forced her and her fairy partner Dabi to escape, hoping she can find Marie-Ange again and reconnect through her voice by becoming an idol with DB (Dabi in disguise) as her manager, which in return made her a refugee on Earth. Meanwhile, Iona is a Pretty Cure who has an extreme grudge with Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess due to freeing the Phantom Empire within the Axia box and lost her sister, Maria Hikawa/Cure Tender, after she was captured by Phantom and initially had bitterness towards teamwork.
    • In terms of combat, they are wildly different to one another. Yuri heavily emphasises on close-quarters combat and barriers and Makoto uses range projectiles as her main form of attack. In contrast to the duo, Iona uses magical attacks and can transform into three forms (Arabian, Komachi and Innocent) just like the other HappinessCharge Cures.
    • In terms of Yuri, both are purple Cures who have a mentoring figure to them that served as the pivot to them being a Pretty Cure. Yuri has Kaoruko Hanasaki, the former Cure Flower, who spent the entirety of HeartCatch's run being her mentor when she is a Cure. On the contrary, Iona's mentor, her sister Maria, was remotely absent for most of the show after she was captured by Phantom and brainwashed by Queen Mirage into becoming her servant.
    • In terms of Makoto, both lost someone important to them and also had a double life but it is very different.
      • With Makoto, she had the pressures of her triple life as not only being an idol, but also working as the heroic Cure Sword and being a student all at once. Iona, on the other hand, rather than being pressured by her duties, instead puts pressure to herself on both to her school activities and as Cure Fortune.
      • While Makoto permanently loses Marie-Ange after sacrificing herself to split her soul into two halves — Aguri (good half) and Regina (evil half) before becoming their own good selves, as well as Ai being the physical body of her after splitting her psyche — and it cannot be reversed at all, Iona lost her sister Maria, aka Cure Tender, after she was defeated and captured by Phantom and was still alive before she was freed from her brainwashing by the Cures.
  • Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess is different to her predecessor Ako Shirabe/Cure Muse from Suite Pretty Cure ♪:
    • Ako is a nine-year-old girl with a short orange hair who dresses casually. Hime is a fourteen-year-old girl with a long wavy hair who dresses slightly formally.
    • While they are both princesses of their own kingdoms, their responsibilities as one differs heavily. Ako takes her duties seriously, especially after her father Mephisto was brainwashed by Noise. Hime runs away from her responsibilities as one, especially after the Phantom Kingdom attacked, and instead hides at her kingdom's Embassy in Pikarigaoka.
    • Ako is mature for her age, fearlessly facing her foes in tough situations as Cure Muse when the situation demands it and she can come off as blunt and abrasive. Hime is the complete opposite to her, being rather spoiled and immature for her age, as well as a coward who runs at the first sight of battle as Cure Princess.
    • Ako's inspiration as Cure was done after seeing her father being brainwashed by Noise, where she becomes the Masked Cure Muse to hide her true identity, believing she is forced to save everyone on her own. Hime becomes Cure Princess after the Phantom Empire attacked thanks to her screw-up, and her first reaction is to run away, resulting in her getting defeated by a first Saiark.
    • Ako is initially friendless who tries to help the Cures out occcasionally, but is not up to revealing who she truly is and is unwilling to fully ally with them until it is the right time. Hime is a straight-up introvert who is cripplingly shy to the point that she didn't have friends before meeting Megumi.
    • Despite their wildly differing natures, both of them went through a Character Development that later shed their old personalities, thanks to their interactions with their fellow Cures throughout the course of their own series.

Maho Girls Pretty Cure!

  • Mirai Asahina/Cure Miracle is very different to her predecessors Nagisa Misumi and Saki Hyuuga. All three of them are the lead members of their duo Cure team, are Genki Girls and are the Foils to the other Cure.
    • While both Saki and Nagisa do not like studying and are very sporty, athletic girls, Mirai is the reverse to both of them, where she is an academic with very decent grades (except she hates math when she flunked it at one point) but is not an athletic.
    • In contrast to Nagisa and Saki's Cure forms, Cure Black and Cure Bloom/Cure Bright, where they are virtually the same in their human form, Mirai's Cure Miracle form is an Older Alter Ego who looks slightly much older than her human form.
  • Honoka Yukishiro and Mai Mishou are both academically smart, are talented in academics and also hailed from Earth, but they cannot use their powers outside of their Cure form. Riko Izayoi/Cure Magical is the opposite to both of them, who is not academically talented and hails from another world; and being a witch she is able to use actual magic without transforming into her Cure form.

KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode

  • Akira Kenjou/Cure Chocolat is this to Itsuki Myoudouin/Cure Sunshine of Heart Catch Pretty Cure. Both are androgynous-looking girls who both act and dressed like male, are gentle and well-meaning to others and both have a sickly sibling to look up for.
    • Itsuki is a middle school student who has short, brown hair and brown eyes who often wears her own school uniform in casual settings. Akira is a high school student who has red hair and red eyes and wears casual clothing in casual situations.
    • Itsuki is wise and princely who can be formal to others, as well as being short-tempered and kind. Akira is princely like Itsuki but is informal and fiercely loyal, who has a strong sense of justice and is much more boyish than Itsuki.
    • Itsuki was raised by an influential family who is the granddaughter of Myoudou Academy's principal, as well as her being the leader of her family dojo. Akira lives a much more average life and lives with her grandmother and her sister Miku who is often hospitalised.
    • While Itsuki has a Tomboy Angst and has some reservations of acting like a boy due to being the Heir to the Dojo after her brother Satsuki fell ill, Akira is openly boyish both in personality and appearance who likes to wear male clothes without any form of angst at all.
    • Itsuki's hair as Cure Sunshine grows into a waist-length Girlish Pigtails, while Akira's hair as Cure Chocolat remains the same length as her human form.

HuGtto! Pretty Cure

  • Emiru Aisaki/Cure Ma'Cherie is this to Aguri Madoka/Cure Ace from Doki Doki! PreCure and Ako Shirabe/Cure Muse from Suite Pretty Cure ♪. All three of them act maturely for their age and are acting independently.
    • Ako is the former princess of Major Land who searched for her missing father after he was brainwashed by the Noise of Evil and was reluctant to fight him, becoming the masked Cure Muse in her initial appearances to hide her emotional baggage. Aguri/Cure Ace is the good half of Princess Marie-Ange's psyche who was split by her after the Jikochuu attacked in Trump Kingdom, who was adopted by Mari Madoka, her adopted grandmother on Earth, where she reluctantly allied with the Cures at first; as she was destined to defeat Marie-Ange's dark half Regina. Unlike the two above, Emiru/Cure Ma'Cherie does not originate from a royal upbringing, though she lives with a relatively rich family originating from centuries back and speaks very formally and even seriously that fits her status, even though she's trying to rebel against her family's very outdated ideals (forced femininity for instance); and instead of being brutally honest to the Cures (something that Ako and Aguri are known for especially in their initial appearances), she instead looks up the Pretty Cures as role models before becoming one in the process along with Ruru. In short both Ako and Aguri were of royal blood, while Emiru is not.
    • Their encounters with the Cures for the first time are very different. Both Ako and Aguri are initially cold, aloof and distant towards the Cures and have a penchant for being brutally honest towards the much older Cures (much more in Aguri's case). On the other hand, Emiru heavily contrasts to both Ako and Aguri, as she is an innocent child who instead sees the Cures as role models than the reverse itself (the older Cures looking up to the younger ones as role models), but she dislikes being looked by others, is extremely overprotective and reckless when she met them for the first time. Ako firstly appears as the masked hero Cure Muse in her debut and Aguri appears as Cure Ace in her debut. Meanwhile, Emiru's debut in front of them did not start out with a disguised form unlike her predecessors.
    • In Ako's case, both are sweet, considerate girls who have a penchant for music and both love to sing thanks to having a natural singing voice. Their tastes for it, on the other hand, are different. While Ako heavily leans to the classical instruments including piano, violins and organs who greatly emulates her mother, father and Otokichi, Emiru is a Rebellious Princess (or the rebellious rich daughter of her very rich family) who uses guitars, particularly modern electric guitars, as musical instruments and weapons (particularly in her Cure form) and actively refuses classical instruments as she rebels against her sheltered upbringing.
  • Ruru Amour/Cure Amour is different to the Kiryuu sisters Michiru/Cure Bright and Kaoru/Cure Windy from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star. All of them are Artificial Humans who were created by the villains, are Dark Magical Girls who initially spied at the Cures for sinister purposes and later befriended them upon their Heel–Face Turn. Though Ruru is different to them in many ways.
    • While they both have teenage bodies upon their creation, how they were created is different. Both Michiru and Kaoru were created by their father-in-name Akudaikan through a piece of cloth. Ruru is an android was created by Dr. Traum, who is actually modelled after his actual daughter.
    • Both Michiru and Kaoru were often abused by their father-in-name Akudaikan as if they were simply minions to the Dark Fall. Ruru is treated like an actual daughter by Traum, being even an Artificial Family Member to him.
    • Michiru and Kaoru were emotionless Creepy Twins who worked with the Big Bad and had Empty Eyes until Heel–Face Turn kicked in. While Ruru is the same Emotionless Girl as both the Kiryuu twins, this is due to her nature as an android before developing real emotions gradually over the course of Hugtto, where she slowly exhibits human emotions.
    • Michiru and Kaoru only became Cures during their Final Boss battle with Gooyan, inheriting the former Cure Bloom and Windy's powers. Ruru becomes Cure Amour during Episode 20, though unlike the Kiryuu sisters, she ultimately became one altogether with Emiru by getting their own Mirai Crystals.
    • Michiru and Kaoru were almost put into an eternal slumber after using all of their powers up before they were revived by the Charafe that retained not only their human bodies but also their memories. Ruru went back to the future with the rest of the Criasu, where 12 years into the future she was reinvented by Dr. Traum again, this time modelled after Emiru's younger self and is specifically more advanced as it can express human emotions from the get-go, albeit she barely remembers her past memories with the young-adult Emiru because of her memories being resetted.

Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure

  • Asumi Fuurin/Cure Earth is different to Ruru Amour/Cure Amour from HuGtto! Pretty Cure.
    • Ruru is an Artificial Human android created by Dr. Traum, a member of Criasu, to serve as a Replacement Goldfish for his deceased daughter, who is initially an Emotionless Girl. Asumi is a Really Was Born Yesterday spirit born from Earth through Queen Teatine's prayers, before she actualises as an adult human on the outside, but mentally an infant on the inside.
    • Ruru dresses in a casual clothing. Asumi mostly dresses in a dress.
    • Ruru started out as The Mole by spying onto Hana and her family to gather information about the Pretty Cures. Asumi was immediately friendly to Nodoka without any hidden agenda on it, aside from her cluelessness to human behaviours.
    • Ruru starts off as Just a Machine who understands human interactions before she slowly grows emotions over the course of HuGtto through her friendship primarily with Emiru and the other Cures. Asumi, on the other hand, is cripplingly unskilled with human interactions and lacks common sense as she had virtually no understanding of how humans behave and act and as such it plays primarily with her Character Development throughout Healin' Good.

Delicious Party♡Pretty Cure

  • Amane Kasai/Cure Finale is a contrast to the following:
    • Amane is different to her predecessor Ellen Kurokawa/Cure Beat from Suite Pretty Cure ♪. Both were brainwashed by the Big Bad into serving them.
      • Ellen was once known as Siren, who was brainwashed by Mephisto after becoming jealous towards Hummy's achievements, where during her time in Minor Land she was a Jerkass who clearly doesn't hesitate to act as one towards the Trio de Minor and to her opponents. On the other hand, Amane, once known as Gentlu, is calm and collected as a member of the Ubauzo, who is also sly and selfish, being able to deceive her own victims but can break down into an utter mess that she becomes impulsive; and rather than being a Jerkass, she instead falls victim to her fellow Bundoru compatriots who acted like selfish jerks towards her.
      • Ellen fully betrayed Major Land in the past, whereas Amane is a Punch-Clock Villain who was under brainwashing and joined the Bundoru Gang despite being the Student Council President of Shinsen.
      • Whereas Ellen was freed from her brainwashing in Episode 21 of Suite where she awakens her potential as a Cure from that moment, Amane was freed from Narcistoru's brainwashing in Episode 12 of Delicious Party and was initially reluctant to be a Cure for six episodes due to her being guilty of her actions as Gentlu; which took her up to Episode 18 to awaken her potential as Cure Finale.
    • In terms of the previous Cures she has contrasting traits.
      • Despite Amane being a Student Council President and not the first Cure to be in a position of power (with examples including Honoka/Cure White, Karen/Cure Aqua, Itsuki/Cure Sunshine and Mana/Cure Heart), she's the first Pretty Cure to hold a position in power who worked with the villainous faction before her Heel–Face Turn.

Soaring Sky! PreCure

  • For a foreigner Cure, Sora Harewataru/Cure Sky contrasts between Lala Hagoromo/Cure Milky from Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure and Hime Shirayuki/Cure Princess from HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!. All three of them hailed from another world who arrived on Earth under circumstances.
    • In Hime's case both are blue-themed foreigner Cures who hailed from a kingdom prior to visiting Earth and are (at first) socially awkward and friendless before meeting new friends. Their similarities, however, ends here in terms of their character.
      • Hime is a royal-born princess of Blue Sky Kingdom who arrived from Pikarigaoka on Earth after it was attacked by the Phantom Empire (courtesy of her opening the Axia Box), while Sora is born as a commoner from Sky Land who arrived from Sorashido on Earth with her and Ellee-chan after Kabaton and the Undergu Empire attacked the kingdom.
      • Hime is the only child of Blue Sky Kingdom's king and queen. Sora has both her parents and her younger brother Red.
      • Hime is a socially awkward girl who (initially) suffers from crippling shyness to the point that she simply runs away from fighting as Cure Princess and is also a Royal Brat who is selfish and spoiled. Sora is extremely hardworking, good-minded and brave in the face of danger in line with her values of ideal heroism by using Captain Shalala as her role model, but she is notably reckless and even naive, who criticises herself for her failures.
      • In their Cure forms, Hime uses magical attacks, while Sora uses physical attacks.
    • How their inspiration to become Cures differs. Hime becomes a Cure, a.k.a. Cure Princess, to save the Blue Sky Kingdom and restore her homeland from the mess she caused in the first place, but it didn't go well at first due to her extreme shyness and timidity prior to meeting Megumi/Cure Lovely. Lala becomes a Cure after she successfully overcomes her angst of being far too reliant over an arbitrary data in regards of the impossibility of becoming a Cure thanks to Hikaru/Cure Star's help, with Lala becoming Cure Milky. On the other hand, Sora's inspiration to be a Cure stems from being saved by Shalala, the Captain of Sky Land, during her childhood, which in return she becomes Cure Sky in the present after she is steadfast in protecting Ellee from Kabaton.
  • Mashiro Nijigaoka/Cure Prism is this to Honoka Yukishiro/Cure White from Futari wa Pretty Cure. Both are white-themed Cures and have parents who are at overseas and live with their own grandmother. Though she is a lot different from her in several aspects.
    • Honoka is a tomboyish teenage girl who lives at a Big Fancy House and likes science and curiosity, who likes to learn everything about the unknown. Mashiro, meanwhile, is the reverse to many of Honoka's traits. Mashiro is a Girly Girl who lives in an average household with her foreigner grandmother Yoyo who originated from Sky Land, likes nature and cooking more than Honoka and is easily scared of the unknown.
    • Unlike Honoka who has to transform with Nagisa altogether in her Cure form, Mashiro can transform all by herself as Cure Prism.
    • Both were born from Earth. Honoka is a full-blooded human whose parents were biologically from Earth, while Mashiro is a Half-Human Hybrid, who is part Skylandian due to her grandmother originally from Sky Land fifty years ago.
  • Ellee/Cure Majesty is this to Hugtan from HuGtto! Pretty Cure and Haa-chan/Kotoha Hanami from Maho Girls Pretty Cure!. All three are infants who acted as the main mascots of their own respective Cure team.
    • Despite being similar to Hugtan, Ellee-chan is different to her in a few aspects.
      • In Hugtan's case, both are the main targets of the primary evil faction's members and its leader. Hugtan is a Kid from the Future who associates from the future; she narrowly escapes George Kurai, her father, and the rest of Criasu Corporation in the future timeline; she is revealed to be a teenager in the future as Cure Tomorrow before reverting to her infant form in the present. Ellee, on the other hand, associates from the past, who is an infant bearing the predecessor Cure Noble's powers and her Cure form transforms her into a teenage girl, which becomes the bane of Empress Undergu, Noble's Arch-Nemesis, who wants her dead.
      • Hugtan is a Fearless Infant who is unafraid in face of danger (unless George appears at the scene) and instead of running away, she outright confronts the monster as an infant but does not transform into a Cure. Ellee is a Badass Adorable who transforms into Cure Majesty with the rest of the Cures to protect anyone she cares for, but unlike Hugtan she retains her childlike innocence.
    • In Kotoha's case, both her and Ellee-chan are infants with an Older Alter Ego who were strongly connected to a legendary figure and a Precursor Hero from the past. Yet just like the comparison between her and Hugtan, Kotoha is different to Ellee-chan in some aspects.
      • Kotoha/Haa-chan was reincarnated from her predecessor Mother RaPaPa, a divine being who watched both the Magic World and No Magic World, who sacrificed herself after sealing Deusmast and halting its destruction to both worlds. On the other hand, Ellee is the current bearer of the Cure Noble's powers, who turns out to be a direct successor of the legendary Cure who was enemies with the Undergu Empire in the distant past.
      • While Kotoha goes into a Plot-Relevant Age-Up throughout the series until she is a teenager both physically and mentally after both Mirai and Riko collected every Linkle Stone, Ellee is only a teenage girl as Cure Majesty and her age-up only lasts until she goes back to her baby form again.

Wonderful Pretty Cure!

  • Mayu Nekoyashiki/Cure Lillian is similar to Kokone Fuwa/Cure Spicy from Delicious Party♡Pretty Cure, both are socially awkward, have something to do with fashion/beauty and are more grounded/level-headed. However, while Kokone issues with interacting with others comes more from not knowing what to do, Mayu is a Shrinking Violet Nervous Wreck who fears interacting with others in general.

Pretty Cure All Stars

  • Ayumi Sakagami/Cure Echo contrasts to every main Cure in the series.
    • Unlike all of the main Cures who are very well-known to the public who have their own team, Ayumi started off as a fan of the Cures who would only become a Cure during the events of All Stars New Stage.
    • Unlike the main Cures who are at the very least closest friends to each other including their mascots, Ayumi didn't have many friends and often relied on Fuu-chan, whom she did not initially realise was the Big Bad Fusion and instead indirectly started his plans to reset the world, causing all of Yokohama's Minato Mirai to fall into darkness again like in DX. And in contrast to many of them who went through a Character Development for most of the series' run, Ayumi's character development was done in a shorter time frame.
    • Whereas most of the Cures require their fairy partners to transform into their Cure form, Ayumi can transform into it with and/or without her Cure partner.

Mentors

While mentors towards every Cure team are also the staple of the franchise, each of them are distinctly different from one season to the other, in terms of background and personality.
  • Futari wa has Sanae Yukishiro, Honoka's grandmother, who is a survivor of a bombing attack in her childhood during World War II and has known Mipple for the past few years, which makes her knowledgeable about Honoka and Nagisa being Cures, despite keeping it as a secret. Its sequel Max has Akane Fujita, a much younger woman who is an alumna in Verone Junior High School, serving in the past as a member of the Lacrosse Club and is (at first) unaware of Honoka, Nagisa and later Hikari Kujou's true natures with Honoka and Nagisa being Cures and Hikari being the Queen's life, despite acting as a mentor figure to the three. In short, Sanae is a Secret-Keeper while Akane is Locked Out of the Loop initially about their true nature.
  • Princess Filia in Splash Star is heavily blatant about this. Unlike the previous mentor figures from the prequels who were flesh-and-blood humans, Filia is a sprite-like being who lives in the Land of Fountains and instead appears as a spirit by using Korone's (Saki's pet) body to interface herself when she travels to the Land of Greenery to serve as a mentor figure to the Splash Star Cures. And she's the first mentor figure to the Cures in the franchise who mostly resides in another world and is explicitly to have magical powers, despite having only a fraction of it (at first) after the Dark Fall's invasion.
  • In comparison to Kaoruko Hanasaki/Cure Flower acting as an elderly mentor figure to the HeartCatch Cures, Yoyo Nijigaoka, the mentor to the Hirogaru team, is vastly different to Kaoruko in many ways. Kaoruko was born in Kibougahana on Earth who was once a Pretty Cure before losing her ability to do so due to Dune, 50 years ago. Yoyo is revealed to be a foreigner who was born in Sky Land and came to Earth 50 years ago and has stayed there ever since, which in return makes her responsible for Mashiro's quarter-Skylandian heritage. Kaoruko is a Retired Badass and a karate champion who was once a Pretty Cure in the form of Cure Flower and worked as a botanist, who is undoubtedly wise and speaks with old-school speech patterns. Yoyo is a Skylandian scholar from Sky Land who is a researcher regarding the human world, where she speaks in a very modern but intellectual manner, relying on her keen intellect and her adept mind, but she is extremely secretive and keeps it until the very right moment. Kaoruko has a long brown hair and wears a lab coat and a dark-green turtle-neck dress. Yoyo has a long white hair tied in a ponytail and wears a black turtle-neck dress with a red shawl, as well as glasses.
