Tropes relating to all four:

• Animal Motifs
  • Kamen Rider Showa: A cicada. Possable shout out to Higurashi: When They Cry.
  • Kamen Rider Liger: Take a guess.
  • Kamen Rider Necros: An Anubis. Or more accurately, a jackal.
  • Kamen Rider Mega: A firefly.^note His motifs become a lion, a pegasus and a Chinese dragon when he enters Inferno Leo, Diamond Pegasus, and Storm Dragon forms receptively.
• Bad Powers, Good People: Shinichi and Leon. The former was made to be the Ultimate Person of Mass Destruction, and the latter has abilities that revolve around death, not to mention that he also has the powers of every Dark Kamen Rider to exist. In spite of this, both are very nice boys and many girls keep falling for them.
• Berserk Button: All four main Riders share the same button, and it's labeled "HARM THOSE WHO THEY CARE ABOUT".
• Chick Magnets
• Disposable Woman: Shinichi, Yuji and Leon all have a dead girlfriend in their background to give them quick angst.
• Hidden Depths: Leon considers himself as a monster, considering that all of his past friends had died and he may have been factor. Yuji hadn't been with another girl, other than his sister, since the death of his first girlfriend. And Netto was previously angry at Daichi for blaming Shinichi for the actions of Gebok, which somehow reminded him of some "close-mind bigots" who scarred his then-innocent mind.

• Aesop Amnesia: The payoff for two or three arcs is realizing he doesn't have to do everything by himself and it's okay to let his friends help him. Soon he's back to needing to learn it again.
• All Your Powers Combined: Legacy Mode, which combines the powers of all 13 Riders. Fourteen now that Kamen Rider Shin is included.
• The Atoner: Wants to make up for the killings he committed under Gebok's mind control, shouldering all the responsibility himself. However...
• Badass Normal: Shinichi is capable of fending off Sonix, Zero, and Armadillo without his armor. He does this again with the rival monsters he scorned when he returns to Youkai Academy.
• The Berserker: BLACK 13, or at least the Anti-Rider program chip used to make him act that way before Kurumu fried it. Shinichi becomes like a relentless beast whose only purpose is to destroy other Riders. Shinichi also ends up like this when pushed too far by an imminent threat to either himself or those he cares about.
• Black Eyes of Evil: Not exactly evil per se, but Shinichi's eyes do occasionally turn black when he's starting to get seriously angry.
• The Casanova: A mild example. Whenever he complements a lady, he does so with honesty.
• Chivalrous Pervert: Shinichi respects the females he's with even if he does appreciate the view.
• Cross Dresser: When he was a little kid. His mom thought he looked adorable in dresses so she dressed him up in frilly dresses. He was embarrassed to see this included in the DVD.
• Curtains Match the Window: His indigo hair and eyes.
• Doppelgänger: After the fiasco with the mermaids, Shinichi is assumed to be one.
• Dream Sequence: During the First Term arc, Shinichi unlocked a new Rider each chapter by having a daydream (usually in the middle of battle) where he meets the Rider whose power he was going to unlock.
• Elemental Powers: Shinichi gains an elemental power depending on what Rider he changes to:
• 11th-Hour Superpower: Shinichi acquires the Mana Stone, a gem that has the essence of a Supreme Manakyte, during his battle with Hokuto, briefly transforming into a human/Manakyte hybrid.
• Energy Weapon: Linking with the Cicadroid allows him to use green versions of BLACK 13's energy weapons.
• Expressive Hair: Shinichi's Hair Antennae can twitch around whenever his Danger Sense kicks in. They can also move on their own whenever he feels embarrassed or flustered.
• Eye Beams: BLACK 13 can fire lasers from his eyes.
• Face Palm:
  • Shinichi does this after Yukari announces her intentions towards Shinichi and Moka to his fellow NUMBERS.
  • He later does it again chapter 50 after learning that Morrigan, Yokai Academy's guidance counselor, has the hots for Yuji.
• Finishing Move: Like his Heisei Counterpart, Shinichi can use any of the finishing moves of the riders he transforms to.
  • w/ Vulcan Shooter: "Rider Shooting" ^note Showa fires swarming beams of energy burst from his weapon.
  • Showa Higurashi Mode: "Rider Burst Kick" ^note Showa Higurashi Mode flies into the air before propelling himself downward with his wings emitting energy, giving more power to his drop kick.
  • BLACK 13: A powerful Rider Kick equal to the Rider Burst Kick.
  • Legacy Charge, activated by Showa Legacy attaching the Legacy Driver to the Legacy Saber, or by twisting up the Legacy Driver on his Spark Core:
    • Legacy 1: "Rider Legacy Burst" ^note Showa Legacy Mode draws in 13 Showa Riders' Symbols into Gun Mode and fires 13 simultaneous shots. The shots reform into the 13 riders which attack the target as they pass by before Showa Legacy finishes with a Rider Slash with the Legacy Saber Sword Mode.
    • Legacy 2: "Rider Legacy Slash" ^note Showa Legacy Mode charges up his Legacy Saber in Sword Mode and swings, sending the spirits of the Showa Era Riders at the target. They then slash with copies of the Legacy Saber before Showa finishes it off with his own attack. A variation of this finisher draws in 14 golden rings imprinted with the Rider Symbols into the Legacy Saber Sword Mode and Showa performs a Rider Slash at the target.
    • Legacy]] 3: "Rider Legacy Kick" ^note Showa Legacy Mode generates 14 golden rings with each possessing one of the 13 Showa Riders' symbols and his own between him and his target and he descends through them, gaining more speed and power as he performs a drop kick at the target.
• Fun with Acronyms: BLACK 13 stands for Black Legion A'ssault Chaos Killer 13.
• Good Scars, Evil Scars: Shinichi has a very distinctive scar over his left eyebrow. It looks like the Roman numeral for 13; XIII.
• Heroic BSoD: Shinichi falls into a coma after seeing the face of his first love, Lina, a psychic girl who he was tricked into killing, now revived as a cyborg and the Jager Unit commander. His mind couldn't bare the information.
• Heroic Safe Mode: Under intense stress from what he senses as an imminent threat to his life or to that of someone he cares for, Shinichi lapses into a kind of fugue state where his fighting instincts completely dominate his body and mind and he becomes a much more brutally efficient combatant, as there is nothing else on his mind except for vanquishing the immediate threat.
• Identity Amnesia: Shinichi is unable to remember anything about himself except for his name. It later turns out it was Topper's handiwork.
• Instant Expert: Whenever Showa unlocks a new Rider, he instantly knows how to use their powers without any practice. He knows all their techniques, skills and abilities.
• In the Name of the Moon:
  • When Showa first turned into Legacy Mode he said, "Piercing the Darkness! The Heir of the 13 Kamen Riders of Legend! Kamen Rider Showa… Legacy Mode!"
  • When he reassumes it (albeit upgraded) in the season one finale, he says, "Piercing the Darkness and Cutting Through the Skies! The Heir of the Kamen Riders of Legend! Kamen Rider Showa…Higurashi Legacy Mode...! ON STAGE!"
• Kill the Ones You Love: Well, not exactly "love", but #13 did think fondly of his fellow NUMBERS. When he realized what he was made to do, he went insane. Taken to an even higher level after being tricked into killing Lina. And then he began killing everything else.
• Laser Blade:
  • The Laser Saber, which can also become a Laser Staff, when another blade comes out the other end of the handle. Also, allowing the Cicadroid to connect on his back allows him to use a green version of BLACK 13's energy blades, even down to their whip function.
  • BLACK 13 can create Energy Blades from his arms and legs, which can extend into whips.
• Laser-Guided Tyke-Bomb: Apparently, Shinichi was designed from the very beginning to destroy all orignal Kamen Riders.
• Legacy Hero: Shinichi has inherited the powers of the Legendary (Showa Era) Kamen Riders.
• Lethal Chef: BLACK 13. He doesn't care about flavor; only nutrients matter. His cooking could taste like sewer water for all he cares as long as it was healthy.
• Like Brother and Sister: Is this to Hime, Reiri, Rias, and Akeno.
• Mega Manning: As Showa, Shinichi as the ability to transform into any one of the Showa Era Riders (minus Kamen Rider Shin, though it's later subverted when he attained him in chapter 67. Even Shinichi doesn't know how he acquired him.). Showa also has an ability called "Form Ride" that allows him to let anyone use the body and powers of any Showa Era Rider of his choosing (a la Final Form Ride from Decade). The first time he used it was on Inner Moka, and she became Kamen Rider Ichigo. For Mizore, she became Denpa Ningen Tackle.
• Palette Swap: The Cicadroid can grant Showa green versions of BLACK 13's energy weapons.
• Phlebotinum Rebel: Becomes one after Gebok forced him to kill his own comrades and his first lover.
• Revenge: Shinichi wants to get back at GIN-SHOCKER for what they did to him and the other NUMBERS. His friends, Yuji and Inner Moka especially, are willing to back him up.
• Superpowered Evil Side: When in the presence of another Kamen Rider, Shinichi's "Anti-Rider" protocols activate, transforming him into a black-armored berserker mode called BLACK 13, which will stop at nothing to kill the other Rider and will even tear apart anything or anyone perceived to be in his way. But Kurmuru's Charm ablilty seemed to disable that programing. Well, not anymore.
• Super-Empowering: As a side effect of his Mega Manning ability with the Showa-era Kamen Riders, Shinichi can temporarily transfer the powers of one Showa Rider into another person, creating a "Form Ride" that transforms said person into a replica of the Rider in question. As he's so far only done it with the members of his harem, this has created plenty of Gender-Flipped Kamen Riders to fight alongside Showa.
• Swiss-Army Weapon: The Legacy Saber possess a Gun Mode and a Sword Mode.
• Taking You with Me: Shinichi tries doing this to Phantom/Lina in one chapter, but is unsuccessful.
• That Man Is Dead: Shinichi claims this as the reason why he won't use his birth name (Shinji), as GIN-SHOCKER already robbed him of his humanity (and by extension, his life as a human being). Though he lets this slide with his mother and his childhood friends.
• Trademark Favorite Food: Milk and honey, shared with his mother.
• Wholesome Crossdresser: In Shinichi's defense, people can barely tell the difference between boys and girls at very young ages.
• Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Shinichi is revealed to have a fear of dolls (mostly due to their eyes), which stemmed from him going to a doll museum with his mother, Hime, and Reiri in his childhood. In fact, he was even scared when Hime dressed as a Victorian-era doll in one chapter.
  "Those dolls were EVIL! Their eyes were just staring at me and I swear that a few one of them moved!"

• The Ace: Played straight.
• Adaptive Armor: As of Tail 8 of Tails of the Liger, the Liger System turns out to be one, as it activated Torrent Form as soon as it recognized Yuji was in the ocean.
• Anime Hair: He gets this from his father.
• Authority Equals Asskicking: Is the oldest and most authoritative for most of the series even before becoming head of Vongola, and has the most personal power and destructive potential of any of the heroes.
• Big Brother Mentor: He is this to Shinichi.
• Black Eyes of Evil: Gains this whenever his alter ego, Abyss, takes over.
• Can't Hold His Liquor: Fortunately, he becomes a Drunken Master.
• Cultured Badass: The story certainly tries to paint him this way with how everyone respects him for his thoughtful opinions and deep insights, plus skills like playing multiple instruments and a strategy game with lots of intricate little rules. At times, like when his date asked him to order for her at a restaurant because of his refined tastes he got her a BLT, or his penchant for cussing a blue streak at the drop of a hat, it's hard to tell if they were going for humorous aversions, though.
• Dragons Are Divine: Fully-evolved manakytes are on a tier comparable to divine beings.
• Drunken Master: Becomes this when under the influence of alcohol, first shown in Tails of the Liger near the climax of his date with Hana. Luckily Shinichi can sober him up by striking his pressure points, as shown during their duel in the Sports Fest tournament.
• Finishing Move: Full Charge, activated by Kamen Rider Liger pressing a button on his belt:
  • Zero Form and Jager Form: "Strike Laser Claw" ^note Liger Zero or Liger Jager runs toward his target and slashes his opponent with an energized claw.
  • Schneider Form: "Buster Slash" ^note All of Liger Schneider's blades extend outward and he charges at the opponent, slicing through them as he passes by.
  • Panzer Form 1: "Hyper Cannon" ^note The Twin-Barreled Laser Cannon on his right arm charges up and fires a blast of red energy with a slight recoil.
  • Panzer Form 2: "Burning Big Bang" ^note Liger Panzer opens up all of his missile silos fires all of his missiles at the same time.
  • Torrent Form: "Poseidon Force" ^note Liger Torrent fires a powerful burst of ocean blue energy from his Callidus at the target.
• I'll Kill You!: Yuji roars in outrage the name of Michiru's handler (Montesinos) and describes gruesome means of ending his life, almost burning down Kyoto and his girlfriends with it.
• Improbable Hairstyle: He's basically his dad with different accents in his hair, including the same upward spikes.
• In-Series Nickname: Called "Spiky-kun" by Michiru and "Aniki" by Shinichi upon learning their relation.
• Mr. Fixit: Yuji owns his own bike shop, "The Dragon's Den", where he fixes automobiles and builds custom bikes.
• Playing with Fire: His Manakyte element, passed down from his mother.
• No Kill like Overkill: What Abyss does to the four NUMBERS that attacked him and Misato/Seras. To quote, King has his body burned by Hellfire and his Spark Core destroyed and Petrifier was devoured in one gulp by Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Specially noted to Bomber and Parasyte, whose limbs are torn apart by the Red-Eyes Black Hydra and heads eaten by said creature. They will NOT be missed.
• Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Yuki's Blue.
• Rider Expansion Pack: Suzaku, a phoenix-like mecha, can combine with Liger Zero to form Liger Zero Phoenix Mode.
• Red Right Hand: Gains an armored demonic arm in season 2 after having his real arm chopped off by Montesinos and Phobist.
• Sexy Sax Man: Played the saxophone piece of the song "Brick Ballades" from The Big O.
• Singing in the Shower: Does this when bathing alone, which probably isn't that often after joining the story.
• Sir Swears-a-Lot: Who else but Yuji? Lampshaded and discussed by Shiroha and Kurumu in season 2, chapter 2.
• Training from Hell: Implied in one chapter.
  "You should try getting shot at by your own father, slashed at by one of your uncles, and being blown up by one of your other uncles' rocket launcher as training. That'll really make you piss your pants for a while."
• Unexpected Successor: A motorbike mechanic like him would be the last person people would expect to become a mafia boss. Then again so was Tsuna.
• Weapon Tropes:
  • Wolverine Claws: Liger's main weapon in Zero Form and Jäger Form.
  • Vibro Blades: Liger's main weapons in Schneider Form and Schneider Sword Form, capable of cutting any material on Earth, except itself.
  • More Dakka: Panzer Form and Panzer Blast Form's main weaponery, seeing as he's armed with a large cannon on each shoulder and two missile pods on his legs and in mutiple hatches on his armor.
  • Named Weapons: Torrent Form's "Balaena Kai" Dual Beam Cannon and "Callidus" Multiphase Beam Cannon
  • Laser Blade: Torrent Form's Beam Lance, modeled after the Chinese Ji.
  • Beam Spam: Torrent Form also wields a total of SEVEN beam cannons, including the "Callidus" used for the finisher.
• Why Did It Have To Be Water?: Has mild hydrophobia, which stems from an incident in his childhood where he almost drowned.
• Would Hit a Girl: He once stated that he has no problems fighting girls.

• Doppelgänger Spin: Storm Dragon Mega can move fast enough that he can create an "Accelerated Decoy" to take attacks while he attacks from somewhere else.
• Elemental Powers: Mega has element abilities based on what form he changes into.
  • An Ice Person: His Diamond Pegasus form grants him ice based attacks.
  • Blow You Away: His Storm Dragon form grants him wind based attacks.
  • Playing with Fire: His Inferno Leo form grants him fire based attacks.
  • Shock and Awe: He can turn into lightning to avoid attacks and also attack without risking damage a-la Biorider.
• In-Series Nickname: "Airen" for Qiao. That's Chinese for "lover".
• Living Battery: Gebok reveals to him that his Cyber Core has unlimited power, and can destroy planets.
• Made of Electricity: Mega can shift into electricity to evade attacks.
• Meaningful Name: His name is German for "Internet".
• Mutant: Impled to be one.
• Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "Time for immediate de-resoultion!"
• Technopath: Netto has the abliity to manipulate any type of machine. Understandably forgotten rather quickly considering what a Story-Breaker Power that should what with how most of the villains are cyborgs.
• Tron Lines: Appears on Netto's eyes when ever he uses his technopathic powers.
  • And Kamen Rider Mega sports these on his chest armor.
• Uke: To his girls' Seme. It even gets lampshaded in chapter 62.
• Weapon Tropes:
  • Katanas Are Just Better: The Photon Debugger, a silver katana with a gold hilt, with circuity patterns that changes color depending on his current form running through the blade.
  • Handgun: The Pegasus Magnum, Mega's main weapon in Diamond Pegasus Form

• BFS: The Ankh Sword, which is basically a giant Ankh.
• Cannot Tell a Joke: Invoked after listening to Yuji's plan in season 2.
  Leon: "Alright, now we have to save them...so I can kick Yuji's ass for underestimating me."
  Daichi: "If I were you, I'd take it as a compliment. Blowing shit up is all he ever sees you do."
  Leon: "I was joking."
  Hana: "You suck at comedy."
• Creepy Good: Word of God says that he's the most intimidating protagonist.
• Dark Is Not Evil: Leon's Rider System is based on death and who has the ability to mimic the forms and abilities of various "Dark Kamen Riders," but he is most pointedly one of the good guys.
• Deadpan Snarker: See Troll below.
• Death Seeker
• Goggles Do Nothing: Like a lot of adventurous boys in anime shows he constantly wears goggles on his forehead. The one time he actually puts them on is a time when he spars with Shinichi, but he actually goes out of his way to warn Shinichi that nothing better happen to the goggles because they were a gift and he might forget he's a gentleman if they're broken (as opposed to wearing a pair he doesn't mind ruining).
• He Who Fights Monsters: How he views himself.
• Hour of Power: Being a vizard, Leon can create a Hollow mask while increasing his abilities, but only for the maximum of seven minutes.
• Kill the Ones You Love: It's implied that this has happened to him, explaining why he tried keeping his distance away from girls. Unsuccessfully.
• Pals with Jesus: Leon is able to converse evenly with Anubis, and is actually embarrassed by Bast.
• Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: To King: "You call yourself 'King'. Let's see how you fare against a God of Death."
• Sinister Scythe: His Zanpakuto, Kage no Shi, takes the form of one upon calling the Badass Creed.
• Shinigami: Necros' appearance is based on Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Dead. It also turns out that Leon is literally a Shinigami himself.
• Stealth Hi/Bye: Leon does this often.
• Troll: He can be a real smartass when he wants to.
• Would Hit a Girl: It's the code of the Smith men to never fight a woman unless it was utterly impossible. Unfortunately, Kenpachi is able to uninstall this out of him as it didn't matter to Squad 11 if the opponent was male or female. A fight is a fight and that was it so it is best to enjoy it to the fullest.
