Amagi Sealing Congragation

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amagi_sealing_congregation.png
A group of shinobi coming from the Hanadome Village, a hidden place in Mount Amagi.

  • You Can't Go Home Again: Even after Hiyori and Ui make amends with Kazakiri and Amane, they ultimately decide to stay at the Shinobi Base, as the people there treat them better than at the strict Hanadome Village.

    Toki

Toki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toki_7.png

A shinobi born in the 12th century in Hanadome Village, a former branch village of the Kagan Clan. She was strong enough to become a Kagura and cemented her position as one of the most powerful shinobi in history, which generated some antagonism between her clan and the envy of her fellow shinobi. She was sealed 900 years ago, until she was released by Kazakiri and Amane. She's skilled at using and uses her great power to take action to destroy modern-day shinobi and yoma.

Date of Birth: 29th of March
Age: 917 (Biologically 17)
Blood Type: A
Height: 163 cm (5'3")
Measurements: B102, W60, H94
Hobby: Playing with beanbags
Favorite Food: Eel
Ninja Animal: Crested ibis
Weapon: Dual Swords
VA: Rie Takahashi, (Japanese)

  • The Ace: It's noted she's an exceptionally talented shinobi, from mastering weapons and Kagan, to manage to defeat yoma with little effort.
    • Broken Ace: However, this is exactly what caused her to be envied and hated by her fellow shinobi. They even tried to seal her because they feared their power that much.
  • Beneath the Mask: Despite her seemingly carefree attitude, Toki is aware of how much shinobi are terrified of her, and plays an eccentric facade in order to hide from their condescending and hate-filled stares. She even admits to the Instructor in her character story that she's worried how Hibari will be treated due to having Kagan.
  • Blessed with Suck: This is how Toki views her powers. At the surface level, she managed to win the Superpower Lottery: she's insanely powerful, is expert on weapons and has a Magical Eye that lets her control people's minds. However this also left her with very few friends, as people hated and feared her for her power.
  • Blood Knight: Is rather gung-ho about fighting opponents stronger than her.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Though she may act eccentric and goofy, when it comes to taking down yoma, she excels tremendously.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She displays strong signs of this trope whenever another girl tries to make a move on the Instructor, though it's (usually) Played for Laughs.
  • The Dreaded: Toki is an amazingly powerful shinobi. Unfortunately, she's seen as a walking terror rather than a hero by both humans and yoma.
  • Fish out of Water: Due to being sealed for so long, she struggles with technology and modern slang.
  • Freudian Excuse: Was so powerful that she was ostracized from most shinobi, was sealed for 900 years because they feared her strength, and all traces of her existence were erased by her best friends. The last is what finally broke her.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: She suffers from severe emotional dependency issues, and is desperate for someone, anyone to like and care for her. It is the primary reason why she is quick to latch onto the Instructor.
  • The Leader: Of the Amagi Sealing Congregation.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Over 900 years to be exact.
  • Survivor Guilt: A variation. Toki deeply regrets her actions which landed her sealed for 900 years, and outliving Sekirei and Mizuki, her only friends.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Despite working to unite both good and evil shinobi, they were willing to seal her because they feared her power that much. To the point that after she defeats Shura, they tried to cripple her and leave her to die in the blood barrier. Hearing this, Toki hits her Rage Breaking Point.
Ahaha...Why did I do my best for these guys....Only for them to break my heart? Hey, if you were gonna turn on me anyways, I should've just let loose from the beginning.
  • Unperson: All traces of her existence were erased thanks to Sekirei falsifying records, hoping that nobody would try to break the seal....until Kazakiri and Amane release her.

    Ui

Ui

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ui_7.png
A shinobi from Hanadome Village and Hibari's distant cousin. She came to the Shinobi Base looking for ninjas strong enough to defeat Toki. She's a cheerful shut-in who does everything at her own comfortable pace. Unlike Kazakiri, she doesn't seem to care about her lack of Kagan powers.

She fights by using a chair.

Date of Birth: 3rd of March
Age: Unknown
Blood Type: AB
Height: 158 cm (5'2")
Measurements: B84, W56, H76
Hobby: Internet surfing
Favorite Food: Jelly drinks
Ninja Animal: Cassowary
Weapon: Chair
VA: Natsumi Takamori, (Japanese)

  • Beware the Silly Ones: Sure she's the most childish and least intimidating one of the bunch, and she also has a tendency of playing around more than taking things seriously. However, absolutely none of this makes her a pushover.
  • Brutal Honesty: She tends to say what's on her mind, even if it can be rather mean, though due to her oblivious nature, it usually comes across as Innocently Insensitive.
  • Gamer Chick: Likes playing videogames and bonds with Murasaki because of this.
  • Hikikomori: Spends most of her time secluded in her room playing games, and would rather remain there instead of doing anything outside.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Fights with a chair. That shoots missiles.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Has a bad habit of getting up close to people's faces when she's excited and has to be repeatedly told to respect people's personal space, not that the lesson ever sinks in.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • With Murasaki, of all people. At the end of the Kagan Arc, they end up bonding over their shut-in tendencies and their love for videogames.
    • Also with Imu, whom she treats as a Replacement Goldfish for her own dead sister.
  • Odd Name Out: Unlike her relatives, who had bird-themed shinobi names, Kazakiri and Ui's names are after wings, showing how the clan sees them as "lesser" for not having Kagan.
  • Spanner in the Works: While Leo is considering killing Hyoki to put an end to her rampage, Ui (who lost her older sister years ago) manages to convince her to save her instead. This small act is what helps Hyoki to resist Dogen's possession at the end of the Orochi Reussrection Arc.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: When she and Hiyori arrive at the Shinobi Base to ask for help in stopping Toki's plans, everyone is distrustful of them and convinced there's some dark secret behind them. Turns out, they're truly kind and their plight is genuine.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks like an unnamed shinobi that was Toki's relative and servant, but with brunette hair. However while Ui is loyal to Toki, her ancestor betrayed her and tried to seal her away.

    Hiyori

Hiyori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hiyori_2.png

A shinobi from Hanadome Village. She came to the Shinobi Base looking for ninjas strong enough to defeat Toki. She is a gentle older sister who has the capacity to treat everyone kindly and with a smile. In battle, she uses a bow.

Date of Birth: 4th of August
Age: Unknown
Blood Type: O
Height: 166 cm (5'4")
Measurements: B94, W55, H87
Hobby: Housework
Favorite Food: Spicy foods
Ninja Animal: Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel
Weapon: Bow
VA: Atsumi Tanezaki, (Japanese)

  • Badass Pacifist: Sure, she can fight, but prefers to use reason and diplomacy.
  • Birds of a Feather: With Yozakura. They both have gentle, motherly personalities and eventually, they begin to bond over finding out that Yozakura's little sister was adopted by Hiyori's family.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Towards the Instructor, though she's too sweet to entirely fit this trope. She's more anxiously fretful than jealously clingy.
  • Cool Big Sis: To Yozakura's little sister.
  • Instant Expert: Challenged Miyabi to a rapping contest despite not rapping before. And won. 20 times.
  • Team Mom: The most level-headed member of the team, plus rather motherly even cooking the team’s meals.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: When she and Ui arrive at the Shinobi Base to ask for help in stopping Toki's plans, everyone is distrustful of them and convinced there's some dark secret behind them. Turns out, they're truly kind and their plight is genuine.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: When she first appears. She remains gentle and sweet but breaks out of her shell more as the series goes on.

    Kazakiri

Kazakiri

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kazakiri.png
A shinobi from Hanadome Village and Hibari's distant cousin. She has a strong complex about being born without Kagan, and views Hibari as an enemy because he was able to get Kagan without any effort.

She wields massive claw gauntlets.

Date of Birth: 7th of August
Age: Unknown
Blood Type: B
Height: 153 cm (5')
Measurements: B66, W45, H58
Hobby: Reading
Favorite Food: Steamed buns
Ninja Animal: Mole
Weapon: Giant Claws
VA: Yuki Kuwahara, (Japanese)

  • I Just Want to Be Special: Kazakiri is introduced as a resenftul shinobi who has a complex about her lack of Kagan. Not only she's still powerful enough to defeat Hibari (who does have it), but listening to Toki's Dark and Troubled Past finally convinces her that yes, it really is not all fun and games having Kagan.
  • Ineffectual Loner: Does this in her character story out of shame for her actions in the Kagan Arc. Eventually the Instructor, with the help of Hibari, Yagyu and Haruka, convince her that they don't hold it against her.....by forcing her to fight all the girls at the base. And it works!
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Before her Heel–Face Turn, Kazakiri used to be very cynical and egotistical, but at the same time, she just wanted to be acknowledged by the clan.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: The main reason for her animosity towards Hibari.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: During her fight with Hibari in the Kagan Arc, she doesn't pull any punches and continues to pummel her even after Hibari is defeated. She actually has to be stopped from killing her outright in a fit of rage.
  • Odd Name Out: Unlike her relatives, who had bird-themed shinobi names, Kazakiri and Ui's names are after wings, showing how the clan sees them as "lesser" for not having Kagan.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: She uses her gauntlets this way.
  • The Resenter: Kazakiri resented Hanadome Village for how they treated her as a failure for not having Kagan. She especially despised Hibari for having it yet not wanting it.
  • The Stoic: She becomes even more composed after her Heel–Face Turn because she has lost the anger that previously defined her.
  • Wolverine Claws: Uses a pair of massive, clawed gauntlets as weapon.

    Amane

Amane

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amane_17.png
A shinobi from Hanadome Village. After reviving Shura with the help of Kazakiri, she works for Toki, planning to destroy the village. She doesn't talk much, and her facial expressions don't change much.

Her fighting style involves using a cannon.

Date of Birth: 16th of June
Age: Unknown
Blood Type: A
Height: 160 cm (5'2)
Measurements: B89, W54, H86
Hobby: Eating
Favorite Food: Large meals
Ninja Animal: Hedgehog
Weapon: Cannon
VA: Sayumi Suzushiro, (Japanese)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Hiyori calls her "Ame-chan".
  • Barrier Maiden: Comes from a clan that makes barriers to protect the village.
  • Berserk Button: Don't decide for her. Seriously, don't. It's the one thing that can make her fly into a murderous rage.
    • When Haruka meets her for the first time and says she looks harmless, Amane is so annoyed she tries to kill her for the rest of the Kagan Arc.
    • Gets angry when Katsuragi orders ramen for her without asking what food she wanted.
  • Big Eater: She often talks about or is seen eating lots of food.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: A non-romantic version, but she doesn't like when Hiyori dotes on other people that are not her.
  • Creepy Monotone: Her default manner of speaking. She speaks in a constant low tone, even when she's angered.
  • Emotionless Girl: She's the most stoic of the group, although not because she lacks emotions (like Hikage), but rather because she's normally very subdued at expressing them.
  • The Hedonist: Loves to turn everything around her into a game, eat food, or just generally have fun because she's trying to make up for all the time she lost living in a strict village.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: The reason why she left Hanadome Village.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Resents Yozakura because she spent time with Ui and Hiyori when she and Kazakiri were on the run. Turns out ALL the girls at the shinobi base befriended Ui and Hiyori, not just Yozakura, yet Amane keeps acting as Jerkass to One.
  • Odd Friendship: With Haruka, of all people. While both start as enemies (due to Haruka accidentally pressing her Berserk Button), they end up bonding about how they felt restricted by their families and both being The Hedonist.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks like a short-haired version of Mizuki, one of Toki's best friends. However Amane is more carefree and childish compared to her stoic ancestor.
