    Sensei Jack

Sensei Jack

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/PPGD_Jack_1672.jpg

Yes, that Jack. Plays the role of gym teacher at Megaville Elementary and lives at a dojo located near the school. He teaches students basic self-defense while also helping to maintain order on campus, as demonstrated during the Powerpuff Girls' fight against Dexter. Has quite a following amongst the female students.

  • Adaptational Name Change: He goes by Sensei Jack instead of "Samurai Jack" in the original show. However, this could be justified due to his current occupation.
  • Badass Normal: Other than wielding a mystical katana, Jack is nonetheless an ordinary human who can take down huge monsters and battle against multiple enemies with ease.
  • Badass Teacher: It's Samurai Jack. Of course he's going to be one of the coolest teachers of all time!
  • Big Damn Heroes: Mojo Jojo's newest monster is about to literally eat Bubbles and Buttercup alive, and Dexter stops Blossom just as she's about to jump into the fray, saying that "help is on its way". Cue Jack.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Everything he does, he gained through a lifetime of training around the world.
  • Cool Teacher / Hot Teacher: The female half of Megaville Elementary's student body certainly seems to think so.
  • Everything's Better with Samurai: Except for Dexter, none of the other characters seem aware of Jack's samurai status.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Like in the original show, he's currently stuck living in a different time period.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's knowledgeable in the field of Foreign Culture and Tradition, taking up the position as a history teacher, and is an expert in the study of hieroglyphics. Also, Jack is at least somewhat capable of following the conversation about the current phenomenon happening in the world.
  • Honor Before Reason: With his brief battle against Sam. Despite having just bisected one of the Darkstar cronies not a second ago, he holds back because against her since she is still a child. Sam, of course, takes advantage of this and shocks him into submission. To add insult to injury, she steals his sword as well.
  • Identical Stranger: He looks incredibly similar to Professor Utonium, but of East Asian descent, with tanner skin, and long hair. This is Played for Laughs when they meet each other for the first time in a Parent-Teacher Conference.
  • Master Swordsman: He's incredibly skilled with his katana.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He's quite muscular and is considered to be a Hot Teacher In-Universe.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: "Jack" isn't his actual name, but currently uses it after being stuck in the current time period.
  • Ship Tease: With Agent Honeydew after chapter 11.
  • Stern Teacher: Natch.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Deconstructed. He refuses to harm Sam due to her being a child, to which she manages to take him down with Shock and Awe, leaving him without his katana and incapacitated for the rest of chapter 11.

Students

    Otto

Otto Osworth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otto_8.png

The little history wiz from Time Squad. Another one of the students at the school, and also a friend of Dexter's. In this version, he is an accomplished Time Ranger with the equipment to travel through time. He shows Blossom Dexter's past in order to help her better understand him. Later, he acts as the messenger when Mandark kidnaps Blossom and ends up joining in on the rescue mission.

    Dib

Dib Membrane

A student in Megaville Elementary. He's obsessed with all things paranormal.

  • Adapted Out: Justified. His rivalry with Zim is nowhere to be seen as it's likely they've never met due to their circumstances being different (the existence of the paranormal is already common knowledge in the webcomic's setting as a result of a Shared Universe and Zim is currently aligned with the Big Bad).
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In the original Invader Zim cartoon, Dib was an outcast for his obsessions of the paranormal as well as being unable to prove their existence to his father (who's basically a Supernatural-Proof Father and viewing the studies of the "paranormal" not being real science) and everyone else (who are all Apathetic Citizens with a strong case of lower intelligence and obliviousness) beside Gaz (who simply doesn't care besides her videogame). In the webcomic, the existence of the paranormal is pretty much common knowledge, thus validating Dib's interests, but still isn't highly regarded by his peers.
  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: Unlike the original cartoon, Dib isn't ridiculed for his paranormal obsessions due to the webcomic's Shared Universe being filled with scientific and fantastical wonders.
  • Disappointing Older Sibling: Like in the original cartoon, Gaz doesn't have much respect for her older brother.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: While he isn't an outcast like in the original cartoon, Dib still isn't well-regarded by his peers for his paranormal obsessions, not by his own family, not by the Powerpuff Girls or Jenny Wakeman despite their parents' friendly collaboration, or even Dexter himself, since it's pretty much common occurrence in their world. At best, he's merely seen as an acquaintance.
  • Token Human: He and his sister are the only human characters to be the children of a well-regarded scientist compared to The Powerpuff Girls and XJ-9/Jenny Wakeman. Or is he?

    Gaz

Gazlene "Gaz" Membrane

A student of Megaville Elementary and the young sister of Dib Membrane. She's a hardcore gamer who doesn't really respect her older brother.

    Courage

Courage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Courage_9985.png

A cowardly pink canine who was left in Jack-sensei's care by his previous owners, Eustace and Muriel Bagg, after getting badly injured in an unknown incidentnote . Became fast friends with Bubbles and is currently living with the Utoniums.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: He's no longer living with the Bagges after an unrevealed incident, leading Muriel to give him to Jack for him to take care of before the start of the webcomic.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: He has a more adorable appearance than in the original cartoon.
  • Audience Surrogate: Courage, bordering on being a Meta Dog.
  • Badass Adorable: A cute pink dog who is capable of holding his own against most of the monstrosities during the Darkstar attack.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Alongside Jack.
  • Cowardly Lion: He may be cowardly and is even scared of his own shadow, but will protect those he loves. It's very much an accurate example of his Meaningful Name.
  • Morality Pet: Jack gives Courage to Buttercup, presumably to act as one of these.
  • Team Pet: Mostly with Bubbles.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While helping to clear out the crowd from the Darkstar attack, he actually takes on one of their monstrosities' head-ons.
  • Uncertain Doom: Not him, but the Bagges. Since Courage is no longer in their lives, he won't be able to save them from whatever life-threatening event that'll come their way.
  • The Unintelligible: Like in the original cartoon, Courage can't actually talk to the human cast. Usually resorting to transforming into objects to act it out. The only one who can completely understand him is Bubbles due to her ability to communicate with animals.
  • The Unreveal: The incident that left Courage to be injured, leading Muriel to give him away is never touched upon in the webcomic.

    Monkey

Monkey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ppgd_monkey_profile_cleanup_1.png

Dexter's lab monkey who was given superpowers from his experiments, and is currently Locked Out of the Loop thanks to Monkey's efforts. He was called into action by Agent Honeydew after the Darkstar Council invade it.

  • Badass Adorable: He's Dexter's adorable pet monkey who's secretly a superhero.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Arriving just in time to save Olga from being blasted to bits, especially since Blossom and Bubbles were incapacitated.
  • Heroic BSoD: When the time bomb detonates.
  • Killer Rabbit: A cute little monkey who's one of the world's greatest heroes.
  • Memetic Badass: An In-Universe one. Acknowledged by both the heroes and villains as one of the greatest heroes on Earth.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Once fought Superman to a draw.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: He manages to beat the Cluster Leader but is too far away to help the others when the temporal bomb goes off.
  • Spanner in the Works: His mere arrival at the expo to assist the heroes almost completely derails the Darkstar Council's entire plan. The enemy commander has a major Oh, Crap! moment when he arrives and has to re-write the entire operation to work around him.

    Coop

Harold "Coop" Cooplowski

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/PPGD_Coop_6778.jpg

The big loveable buffoon of Megas XLR. Comes to Dexter's aid to help rescue Blossom, holding off Samantha and her mecha while Dexter deals with Mandark. Before that, he loaned Megas to Dexter for repairs and maybe some tweaking.

Scientists

    Professor Utonium

Professor Jonathan Utonium

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Prof_2174.jpg

The Powerpuff Girls' "father". Ended up moving his family to Megaville after a job opportunity and trying to help them adjust. A very loving father with a bit of a silly side occasionally.

    Dr. Wakeman

Dr. Noreen "Nora" Wakeman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Dr__Wakeman_8951.jpg

Jenny's "mother" and a founding member of "Skyway Patrol". She made her first appearance as another participant in PROJECT ROWDY. She disapproves of the Rowdyruff Boys' extreme fighting style, particularly that of Butch. And isn't afraid to talk down to them in spite of their power. It was later revealed she was in town from Tremorton for a science expo, which the ballet class from Megaville Elementary is opening for.

  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Compared this to the above page image.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Quite overprotective, considering her daughter is a robot.
  • Badass Bookworm: She's a highly regarded scientist and a founding member of "Skyway Patrol", an intergalactic organization designed to fight extraterrestrials.
  • Mama Bear: Is fiercely protective of XJ-9, and her Establishing Character Moment in the webcomic also shows her to be pulling Butch's ear to make him hand back her daughter's arm.
  • Nerves of Steel: She definitely has this when yanking at Butch's ear to make him give back her daughter's arm, and the act is viewed as no different to a protective mother scolding a rowdy kid for bullying her child. Given her military background as a founder of Skyway Patrol and her "tut-tutting" Jenny for trying to threaten her into letting her leave the house with lasers in the original cartoon, it makes sense in the context.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Seen briefly here.

    Professor Membrane

Professor Professor Membrane

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prof_membrane.png

The father of Dib and Gaz Membrane, and one of the world's most important scientific minds.

  • Adaptational Curves: His head is much more rounded than in the original cartoon.
  • Ambiguous Situation: If it wasn't for the original cartoon's untimely cancellation, then it would've revealed that Professor Membrane "created" his son through a process that is eerily similar to how Irkens were born, making it a possibility that the same thing happens in the webcomic.
  • Foil: To Professor Utonium and Dr. Wakeman in regards to his own children. While Prof. Membrane cares for his children, he has a more "hands-off" of parenting and is rather distant to them (he and a few others usually calls them his "progency") in contrast to the more caring and close relationship his two peers have with their children. Furthermore, while Professor Utonium and Dr. Wakeman's children are clearly define as "non-human" (Artificial Human for the Powerpuff Girls and a robot for Jenny), it's still rather ambiguous of whether Dib and Gaz Membrane are clones of their father.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Like in the original cartoon, "Professor" is also his first name.
