    Dr. Brisbaine

Dr. Jonathan Quell Brisbaine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ppgd_dr_brisbane_profile_cleanup.png

The Chief Director of PROJECT ROWDY and the adoptive father of the Rowdyruff Boys. He revived the Rowdyruff Boys sometime before the start of the webcomic and is currently overseeing their training. His motives regarding PROJECT ROWDY are currently unknown.

  • Abusive Parent: Downplayed. He's not actively abusive to the Rowdyruff Boys, but it's very likely that he only sees them as "assets" of the project he's currently directing while their adoption is only for legal reasons, which still makes him emotionally distant and neglectful.
  • Brainy Brunette: He has brown hair and is a scientist.
  • Foil: In contrasts to the other scientist characters's close relations with their "children", Dr. Brisbaine's relationship with the Rowdyruff Boys are clearly that of a professional one, at best.
  • Nerves of Steel: Assuming that it's not entirely from the safeguards placed against the Rowdyruff Boys if they would ever cross a line, then Dr. Brisbaine proves this by being both their trainer and adoptive father.
  • Original Character: He's an entirely original character to the webcomic.
  • The Stoic: Is always stoically professional in his appearances.

    I. M. Weasel

I. M. Weasel

The assistant of Dr. Brisbaine, the chief director of PROJECT ROWDY.

  • Number Two: To Dr. Brisbaine.
  • The Stoic: Much like Dr. Brisbaine, I. M. Weasel is always stoically professional in his appearances.

The Rowdyruff Boys

    In General

Brick, Boomer, and Butch, the Powerpuff Girls' evil male counterparts were originally created by Mojo Jojo. Here, they're the subject of study in a secret government project called "Project Rowdy". Exactly what said the project entails remains a mystery. In this version, Boomer is a little more innocent, while Brick and Butch are apparently planning revenge against the Powerpuff Girls for their last defeat. Interestingly, the idea to include the Rowdyruff Boys in the comic at all wasn't Bleedman's, but that of a deviantART member.note  By the time of the comic, the Rowdyruffs hadn't reappeared back in the TV show yet.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: As a whole, they're a lot less vicious and cruel than their original 1990's counterparts, with Butch being the worst of the trio, and even then he's more just a general bully than a violent brute. The 2022 Christmas special hangs a lampshade on this by having both Brick and Boomer on Santa's Nice List, while Butch was on the Naughty List, though him attacking Santa and Jingle thinking they were burglars more than likely played a factor.
  • Age Lift: Played with. Like the Powerpuff Girls, they also get a bump in physical age. As well as being chronologically younger than they appear to be.
  • Anti-Hero: They function as this in contrast to the Powerpuff Girls, with them working as part of a secret government project with all of the moral ambiguity it entails.
  • The Bus Came Back: The boys return near the end of Chapter 11, to the surprise of Blossom and Buttercup.
  • Came Back Strong: As Brick puts it, the Skyway Patrol and the Men In Black found their leftover bits and put them back together, with an added boost and training to their already impressive powerset.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Downplayed. They have darker color schemes than the Powerpuff Girls and wear black outfits in their introduction and whenever they're required to operate on the field but allegedly turns a new leaf and are Anti-Heroes working with government supervision.
  • Flanderization: Played with. While Butch is close to his canon portrayal in terms of personality, Brick and Boomer's traits have been exaggerated.
    • Brick's Hair-Trigger Temper and propensity for street smarts have translated into him being brooding and pissed off most of them time, but an effective and intelligent leader.
    • Boomer's stupidity and cloudcuckoolander behavior is now depicted as him being extremely innocent and simple minded, to the point he's the Token Good Teammate now.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: They're currently on the heroes' side, but were revived for a highly, confidential government project.
  • New Transfer Student: As of present, all three will be attending the same school as the Powerpuff Girls.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Boomer is nice, Butch is mean, and Brick is Inbetween.
  • Nonuniform Uniform: While their uniforms have a similar design, they each retain their own individual colors.
  • Smug Super: All three of them have this form of smugness and it varies between each other, and they just so happen to have similar Flying Brick powers as the Powerpuff Girls and are stronger than ever since their revival.
  • Tyke Bombs: What they're apparently being trained to become.

    Brick

Brick Brisbaine

The tactician and self-proclaimed leader.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Unlike the typical toxic masculinity and smugness of his 1998 cartoon counterpart, Brick is more brooding and serious in the webcomic.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: For a given level of "nice", he doesn't exhibit the same bloodthirstiness or cruelty in the 1998 cartoon and is quite capable of being pragmatic so long as it doesn't involve anything personal.
  • Arch-Enemy: Brick's reason for participating in the project is to become stronger since he finds his previous defeat at the Powerpuff Girls' hands via kissing particularly humiliating.
  • Berserk Button: The mere sight of the Powerpuff Girls is enough to send Brick into a violent rage, and he would've attacked and inflicted a brutal beatdown on them if it weren't for a combination of orders from high command to not fight them and a lot of Self-Restraint.
  • Chick Magnet: Brick gets a ton of Valentine cards when they attend the school.
  • Defrosting Ice King: While it's slow going, Brick is slowly but surely opening up and finding Good Feels Good, especially after meeting Superman. The 2022 Halloween special in particular sees him beginning to open up, going above and beyond to help Suzy when she and Tootie are caught in their mission, and Blossom being proud of him when she finds out.
  • The Leader: Of the Rowdyruff Boys.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He has long hair and is a Chick Magnet in the Megaville Elementary School.
  • Not So Stoic: The only things that would bring a reaction to his usual stoicism are his grudge against the Powerpuff Girls or dealing with his brothers' antics.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He doesn't smile at all and is always seen with a neutral or grumpy expression.
  • It's Personal: Brick has it out for the Powerpuff Girls badly, stemming from the humiliation of being defeated from his initial unstable form reacting to their kisses.
  • Pragmatic Hero: If it doesn't further his goals then Brick won't delve into unnecessary cruelty or bloodshed.
  • Ship Tease: In a parallel with Blossom getting some with Dexter, the 2022 Halloween special begins to hint that Brick is developing feelings for Olga.
  • The Stoic: He rarely shows his emotions.

    Boomer

Boomer Brisbaine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/boomer_profile_cleanup_2.png
The cute and sensitive one.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Moreso than his brothers and his 1998 cartoon counterpart. As he serves as the Token Good Teammate for his lack of cruelty and overall affable attitude.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His primary Color Motif is navy blue to contrast Bubbles' sky blue, and is very much the Token Good Teammate of his brothers.
  • Children Are Innocent: While kissing every female he sees on the cheek is one thing, Boomer is genuinely unperverse about it and is only trying to remember the feeling of Bubbles kissing him the first time as he's currently undergoing puberty. Both Jack and Agent Honeydew are well-aware and amused by this and gently give him The Talk, much to Buttercup's confusion.
  • Composite Character:
    • His growing feelings for Bubbles and willingness to kiss her to remember that feeling has elements of Bubbles' one-sided crush on him in the 1998 cartoon. Ironically, Bubbles is a Chaste Hero in the webcomic.
    • On the topic of kissing, he kisses every female character in his vicinity to understand that feeling harkens to Harry Pitt, a minor character in the 1998 cartoon.
  • The Ditz: He sometimes lives in his own little world and doesn't understand social norms regarding genders due to his understandable naivete.
  • Dumb Is Good: He's The Ditz compared to his brothers and is the nicest one compared to them.
  • Love Redeems: Things appear to be moving in this direction with Boomer, given his reaction to the memory of Bubbles' kiss.
  • Token Good Teammate: In comparison to his brothers, Boomer is pretty much a Nice Guy to Brick's neutral pragmatism and Butch's sadistic Blood Knight. The Powerpuffs eventually realize this too, figuring out he doesn't have a mean bone in his body, he's just innocent and a massive idiot. So when they find him causing a problem, they easily figure either Hanlon's Razor was in effect, or he was put up to doing it by Brick or Butch.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Played for Laughs with Boomer, as he's trying to understand the feeling of being kissed by Bubbles in his backstory. This leads to him kissing every female on the cheek near the end of chapter 11.

    Butch

Butch Brisbaine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/butch_profile_cleanup.png
The toughest one.
  • Blood Knight: Butch, and it even exceeds Buttercup's.
  • The Brute: He functions as this and would be the first one inching for a fight.
  • The Bully: Naturally, he acts like this toward the heroes.
    • During the field test against Jenny, he rips off one of her arms and basically taunts her about giving her a "hand". When she refuses to "Say Uncle", Butch was more likely to blast her into pieces if it weren't for Brick stopping him and telling him to stand down.
    • How he acts towards Dexter in chapter 13 and onwards, such as flinging a locket at the latter at high speed, causing it to destroy whatever important research he's been doing of the current situation in the school's lab, and is just generally rude and condescending towards the boy genius.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down: Butch would've blasted Jenny to bits if Brick hadn't stopped him.
  • Pet the Dog: In chapter 13, he stops Sperg from picking on Double Dee by picking Sperg up and dangling him from a rooftop. It's also played with as his intentions are not truly out of concern for the little guy and more about using the bully as an outlet for his sadism.
  • Sadist: It comes with his Blood Knight tendencies, and whenever he's not in a fight, he'll either prank others, target actual bullies to use as an outlet, or just act like a Jerkass for kicks.
