Humans

    In General
  • Foil: Team Remix Heart are this to Gary's cheerleaders. While Gary's cheerleaders are mostly Brainless Beauties due to solely fawning attention on him, boosting his confidence and ego, the latter are military-trained and help trained Ash and his Pokémon to be a more formidable force to be reckoned with, along with having their own Pokémon and providing moral support.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Their intervention help Ash make smarter decisions, even though he occasionally does make a few mistakes.

    Ash Ketchum

Ashton "Ash" Satoshi Ketchum

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ash_anime_art.png
"My dream is to become a Pokémon Master, and to obtain that dream, I need to enter and win the Pokémon League with my Pokémon and friends by my side... there's no way we're gonna give up now!"
A boy starting his Pokémon Journey.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Thanks to the girls of Remix Heart, he's less prone to making crucial mistakes like in canon. Most of the time.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Abusing Pokémon.
    • Making fun of others after harshly beating them up. This allows Hanzo to trigger Battle Bond.
  • Big Eater: Loves to eat like in canon. Only this time, he's not the only one....
  • Children Are Innocent: Thankfully, most innuendo terms fly over his head. He is 10 after all.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Humorously, he doesn't like being called 'Ashton'.
  • Pungeon Master: Not as much as Makoto, but he's learning.
    Makoto: That's my pun protege!

    Misty Waterflower

Mysteria "Misty" Kasumi Waterflower

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misty_os_3_1.png
"It's my goal to be a Water Pokemon expert."
A girl whose goal is to become the greatest Water-type Trainer.
  • Adaptational Badass: Instead of using Staryu and Starmie in her gym battle against Ash, Misty utilizes not only Starmie, but also Poliwhirl and Vaporeon - two of the three Pokémon used in a challenger's Third Badge Battle.
  • Birds of a Feather: While both she and Noel are afraid of bugs, they also enjoy any subjects involving romance. Misty especially likes Noel's poetry.
  • Don't Ask: Responds a variant of this when Ash questions her full name.
  • Irony: The girl who's most likely to pull a wooden mallet out of Hammerspace is nonetheless surprised when she sees Noel unleash Bolverk.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Most of Team Remix Heart, even Noel, call her out for hurting Ash's Caterpie's feelings one too many times due to her fear of bugs.

    Brock Stone

Brock Stone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brock_os_anime.png
"To tell you the truth, I get more pleasure from raising Pokemon then from making them battle. I don't care about being a Pokemon Trainer. I want to be the world's best Pokemon Breeder."
Pewter City's Gym Leader who wanted to be the greatest Pokémon Breeder.
  • Casanova Wannabe: As usual when it comes to his luck with flirting with women. It's Tsubaki or Makoto being the ones to keep him in line.
  • Everybody Has Standards: He may be a shameless flirt, but in Chapter 26 even he draws the line when his name was illegally used to unjustifiably ban Ash from Celadon City's Gym by two female Gym Trainers (without Erica's authorization).
  • Irony: While he flirts with nearly every girl he meets, he strangely enough doesn't flirt with the girls of Team Remix Heart. An indignant Makoto was offended when Brock exclaims that he has to wait another year to meet a beautiful girl in Chapter 18.
  • Named by Adaptation: He doesn't have a surname in canon. This fic gives his surname 'Stone'.
  • That Came Out Wrong: After, he, Ken, Takuma, and Ash accidentally burst into the hot springs (where the girls are bathing) when trying to cool down Ken's mouth from the spicy ramen, Brock claims he didn't see anything, just 'giant peaches'. Kajun and Tsubaki were NOT HAPPY.

    Makoto Nanaya

Makoto Nanaya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/makoto_nanaya_story_mode_artwork_normal_school_uniform_type_a_7.jpg
"Someday you'll find true friends.. ones you'll want to be with, ones that you'll want to do protect... share memories with. Laugh... cry... all that stuff."
A Squirrel Beastkin who's a classmate of Noel and Tsubaki. Possesses enhanced abilities thanks to her Beastkin heritage.
  • Badass Teacher: She helps put Ash's Primeape through his paces, training him to become a much stronger fighter in the ring.
  • Big Eater/Hyperactive Metabolism: Due to her Beastkin metabolism she eats way more than Ash. Arceus help them if she meets May...
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Ash are both big eaters and prone to making puns.
  • Pungeon Master: Constantly making them, earning several whacks to the head as a result.
  • Running Gag: Anytime someone mistakes her Beastkin features as cosplay parts...
    Makoto: ...It's not a c...
  • Tail Pet: Her tail serves as a mobile home for Berry, Cherry, and Booster.

    Tsubaki Yayoi

Tsubaki Yayoi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsubaki_yayoi_story_mode_artwork_normal_school_uniform.jpg
"Please... I need your help, whoever you are in here. Let Justice be done!"
A classmate of Noel and Makoto, she possesses a strong sense of justice.
  • Birds of a Feather: The reason why she gains Luca the Riolu as her starter Pokémon? Both embody Justice.
  • Not So Above It All:
    • When it comes to Japanese history, Tsubaki can go a bit overboard, like with Kaijun's Science Mode.
    • She likes chocolate. A LOT, to the point Makoto had to make a Citizen's Arrest on her.
  • Paper Fan of Doom: Whenever Makoto and/or Ash cracks a pun.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: As usual, pandas. In the Pokémon universe, especially panda-themed ones like Pancham.

    Noel Vermillion

Noel Vermillion

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noel_vermillion_story_mode_artwork_normal_school_uniform.jpg
"Love is what brings us all together... love is something you share with someone special... friends, family... and your Pokémon."
A shy young girl with a mysterious past. She's classmates with Makoto and Tsubaki.
  • A-Cup Angst: Still suffers from this in the story. This is why she got Umi the Shiny Feebas for free from the Magicarp Salesman (with Makoto's help).
  • Berserk Button: Several.
    • Do NOT claim you raise a Pokémon with love and care when you disrespect others while preaching it. Jessie got into deep shit because of it.
    • Do NOT claim to know everything there is about love when your actions contradict it. Especially when Team Rocket disrupted the Butterfree mating season.
    • Do NOT mock her love poems.
    • And in her worst moods, do NOT mistake her for a guy. Billy was practically within Bolverk's cross hairs.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Noel may be one of the sweetest characters in the story like in canon... but push her too far... and you will regret it. Team Rocket (in particular, Jessie) ended up provoking her too often.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Especially when it comes to cute Pokémon. Example being the Eevee at Bill's lighthouse.
Makoto: ...Cute little fuzzy animal no bigger than a foot. Times a bunch of it... equals one very happy and cuddle-giving Noel.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: On rare occasions she inflicts this on Kajun whenever she goes into Science Mode.
  • Guns Akimbo: When Serenade and Meowth threatened to steal Yuki and the Eevee litter from Bill's lighthouse, Noel somehow manages to summon and counterattack with her signature weapons: Arcus Diabolus (Devil's Arc): Bolverk, which she managed to force the duo into a retreat.
  • Lethal Chef: As per usual. The only ones who love her cooking besides Mai? Poison-type Pokémon.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Still afraid of bugs, but she deals with her fear better than Misty. In fact, when Needles evolves into Beedrill after the latter protects her in one chapter, she gratefully gives her a hug!

    Mai Natsume

Mai Natsume

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mai_natsume_story_mode_artwork.jpg
A classmate of Noel, Makoto, and Tsubaki, she was a boy turned into a girl via a mysterious grimoire.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She and Makoto demonstrate this while defending Misty from her sisters' bullying. Tsubaki had to cover Ash's eyes for this.
Tsubaki: (thinking) Mai, I am either impressed at how you turned it around or annoyed.
  • Super-Senses: Taste. Her sense of taste is so powerful that she can only eat Noel's cooking without experiencing all the 'memories' of whatever she eats.

    Kajun Faycott

Kajun Faycott

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kajun_faycott_story_mode_artwork_type_a.jpg
Mai's eccentric-but-very-intelligent roommate.

Pokémon

    In General
  • Pokémon Speak: The united group of Pokémon does this in form of their dialogue in parenthesis (brackets in this case) whenever conversation involving them is needed. In Chapter 51, the parenthesis was dropped among themselves.

Ash's Team

    Pikachu

Pikachu

Ash's signature Starter Pokémon.
  • Adaptational Badass: Learns an extremely powerful Zap Cannon thanks to the giant Dragonite at Bill's lighthouse.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: During Chapter 22, when the Black Fog's weakening seal started causing all Pokémon to speak temporarily, Pikachu's voice sounds like a girl despite lacking the female's V-shaped notch at the end of its tail. Terra and Zorua couldn't stop cracking up.
Pikachu: (Twitchy Eye) My revenge will be swift and merciless...

    Caterpie-Metapod-Butterfree

Caterpie-Metapod-Butterfree

Ash's first caught Pokémon. Later released during the Butterfree Season of Love.
  • Adaptational Badass: Thanks to Kajun's training, as Metapod, he combines String Shot, Harden, and Tackle into an improvised wrecking ball. Not only does he keep those moves as Butterfree, he later learns Giga Impact in his final chapter.
  • Best Friend: To Hikari before his departure, as they trained together. In a lesser degree, he's also this to Needles.

    Pidgeotto

Pidgeotto

  • Adaptational Badass: She knows Roost, Mirror Move, and Hurricane, along with Egg Moves Steel Wing and Brave Bird.
  • Gender Flip: This one's a female.
  • Team Mom: Shares this role with Koko and Bulbasaur.

  • Twitchy Eye: She gives one in her Poké Ball when learning Ash threw a rock at a Spearow (he thought it was a Pidgey at the time).

    Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur

Ash's fourth Pokémon who was formerly the guardian of the Hidden Village along the path to Vermillion City.
  • Berserk Button: Threatening hatchlings, as Team Rocket learnt the hard way when the tried to capture Yuki.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Played with. His aggression towards Ash and co. inadvertently scared Yuki, causing him to calm down.
  • Team Dad: The opposite gender role to Koko and Pidgeotto.

    Charmander-Charmeleon-Charizard

Charmander-Charmeleon-Charizard

Ash's fifth caught Pokémon. Later evolved into Charmeleon and then Charizard.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: He joined Ash because he helped Charmander become comfortable on his rock and then ended up sick because he made sure Charmander's tail flame didn't go out in the storm.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When he was a Charmander, he was a very kind Pokémon... until he used Rage.
  • Break the Haughty: His disobedience as Charmeleon is brought to a halt much earlier in canon after he gets defeated by Joan, Takeru's Charizard.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was abandoned by his previous Trainer, tricked into staying on a rock for three weeks straight to the point he needed to be rushed to the ER.
  • Improbable Weapon User: After accidentally using a blanket to beat up Billy's Houndoom, it becomes his signature weapon.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-Type Pokémon.
  • Security Blanket: While in one town, he ends up pulling out the blanket Ash used to help keep his tail flame lit in the storm. After he used it to accidentally beat up a Houndoom, he decided to keep it. As of becoming a Charizard, he now wears it as a scarf that holds his Charizardite X in.
  • Super Mode: Can become a Mega Charizard X thanks to the Charizardite X in his scarf.

    Squirtle

Squirtle

The former leader of the Squirtle Squad, he becomes Ash's sixth Pokémon.

    Krabby

Krabby

Ash's seventh Pokémon, caught at Cerulean Cape.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: In canon, he was a modest and quiet individual who spent time with Professor Oak, enjoying tea and poetry. Here, he's just as much a prankster thanks to Ash's Eevee.
  • The Prankster: He shares this role with Eevee, Gengar, and Gary's Krabby.

  • Super Mode: Can become a Mega Gengar with the Gengarite he normally stows on his forehead.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Like the rest of the Poison-types, he loves Noel's death cooking. He even keeps a can of it on him if he isn't going to use Gengarite to Mega Evolve.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Yamper. They seem to love to lick him all over.

    Primeape

Primeape

Ash's tenth Pokémon that was a Mankey before he caught it.
  • Adaptational Badass: Thanks to Makoto's training, Primeape not only becomes much stronger than in canon, but also learns moves like Cross Chop, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Aerial Ace and Close Combat.
  • Put on a Bus: Averted! Instead of being left at the gym after winning the P1 for more training, Primeape instead stays with Ash to become stronger under him.

    Muk

Muk

Ash's eleventh Pokémon who once led a pack of Grimer in Gringy City.
  • The Atoner: He's willing to join up for training against Mewtwo since Ash gave him a chance for a new life.

    Togepi

Togepi

A baby Pokémon hatched from a egg Mai found in Grandpa Canyon.
  • Adaptation Deviation:
    • Instead of Ash finding her egg, it's Mai who did that.
    • In contrast to canon when Misty pushes Brock and Ash out of the way leading to Togepi imprinting on her, the imprinting happens that while Gengar gave the egg back to Mai, he accidentally had the egg facing Misty by mistake when it hatched.
Gengar: (For the record, I did not know it was facing the wrong way when I gave it to her!)
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Shares this with Vale.

  • Straying Baby: Just like in canon, only she isn't the only one...

    • Ash seems like fun, but he didn't want to stay with Primeape and Gengar.
    • Makoto's tail is fluffy, but he didn't want to stay with two to three girls, finding it awkward. Plus he has a chestnut allergy.
