    Pocoyo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pocoyo_9.png
Voiced by: Margarita Ponce (first voice, Spanish), Lucía Ciruelos (second voice, Spanish), Alex Marty (season 1, English), Montana Smedley (season 2, English), Isabella Foy (season 3, English), Gigi Hart (season 4, English), Kai Montgomery (season 5, English)

Pocoyo is the main character of the series. He is a curious four-year-old boy who loves to play games and discover new things.

  • Big "NO!":
    • Pocoyo yells, "NO!" after breaking Elly's favorite doll, Skyward Scream and all.
    • Also used a couple of times in "Pocoyo's Balloon," often accompanied by Rapid-Fire "No's".
  • Big Brother Instinct: Has this towards Baby Bird. In “Twinkle Twinkle”, Pocoyo is the first to show concern for Baby Bird when he cries and gets angry at Elly for causing it. Pocoyo is also the first to put his whistle away after realizing it makes Baby Bird upset in “Who’s Calling Me Now?”.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Pocoyo's own name is a combination of the words "poco" (a little bit) and "yo" (me). Or in other words, "a little bit me".
  • Black Bead Eyes: He has black dots for eyes.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Pocoyo's clothes and hat are blue and he is a good-hearted kid.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: He becomes this when angry. For instance, when mad at Pato over some toys, he builds a wall out of blocks, pouts, and even declares that he's no longer Pato's friend.
  • Break the Cutie:
    • In “Super Pocoyo”, Pocoyo is subjected to this when his misguided rescue attempts make Loula, Sleepy Bird, and Elly angry, causing him to stop playing superhero. He recovers when Pato gets his hat stuck on his head, allowing him to perform a real rescue.
    • During his feud with Pato, Pocoyo is reduced to tears after seeing a picture of them together in “A Little Something Between Friends”.
  • Character Tic: The flaps on his hat will wiggle whenever he's frustrated, excited, or deep in thought.
  • Cheerful Child: He's very friendly and usually in a good mood.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Depending on the writer, while usally a nice guy he could get mad or be rude towards his friends in some episodes.
  • Keet: He's usally very hammy and energetic.
  • Kid Hero: Is a kid and is the main protagonist.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Gender-inverted. Baby Bird idolizes Pocoyo as if he was his older brother.
  • Never Bareheaded: It's never revealed whether Pocoyo has hair underneath his hat.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The Mean to Pato's In-Between and Elly's Nice.
  • No Indoor Voice: He tends to yell a lot and has trouble being quiet.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Nina.

    The Narrator
Voiced by: Jose María del Río (Castilian Spanish), Stephen Fry (seasons 1-2, English), Stephen Hughes (season 3-present, English), Orlando Arenas (seasons 1-3, Latin American Spanish), Adal Ramones (Pocoyo & The Space Circus, Latin American Spanish), Angel Mujica (season 4-present, Latin American Spanish)

The Narrator is a faceless character. Unlike most narrators, he directly interacts with the characters and is good friends with them.

  • Nice Guy: He's always ready to intervene in all conflicts than arise, usually the one that administers the moral of the day, and the characters seem to like him quite a lot - for a disembodied voice he sure has a lot of personality. Granted that the English narrator is Stephen Fry, who is well known for having one of the most whimsically cheerful British voices of all time.
  • Only Sane Man: He is typically the only person trying to stop Pocoyo and co.’s antics when they begin spiraling out of control.
  • Parental Substitute: He behaves like a father figure towards Pocoyo.
  • Straight Man: He is the most level-headed character of the cast and often plays the voice of reason, even if his advice goes ignored.

    Pato
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pato.png
A fussy yellow duck and Pocoyo's best friend.

    Elly
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elly_9.png
A pink energetic elephant. She is often seen on her scooter or carrying around her doll.

    Nina

Voiced by: Noelia Rodriguez (season 5a), Alba Ramos (season 5b-present)
A human girl who is accompanied by Roberto, her pet robot. She was introduced in the 2016 revival.

    Loula
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/loula.png
A friendly, non-anthropomorphic dog.
  • Black Bead Eyes: She has black dots for eyes.
  • Canine Companion: For Pocoyo.
  • Demoted to Extra: She's still a main character but 3 recurring characters have more appearances than her. Most noticeable in season 4 with Nina replacing Loula in the opening and her getting very few appearances from that point onward.
  • Empathy Pet: She is energetic and playful, just like Pocoyo.
  • Hates Baths: She runs away from Pocoyo when he tries to bathe her in "Dirty Dog" and "Bathing Loula".
  • Heroic Dog: Loula comes to Pocoyo’s aid in “Magical Watering Can” when he doesn’t have enough water to save the wilting musical flower. She also brings Pocoyo to help Nina set things right with Pato, Elly, Baby Bird, and Caterpillar in “Nina the Dog Trainer”.
  • Howl of Sorrow: She does this whenever she is sad.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: She is rarely seen without Pocoyo by her side.
  • Nearly Normal Animal: Is practically a regular dog, but she sometimes does something vaguely humanlike. For instance, in "A Dog's Life", she is seen dancing before getting a splinter in her paw (which makes Pocoyo mistake her pained movements for part of the dance).

    Sleepy Bird
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sleepy_bird_9.png
A bird who sleeps all the time.
  • Berserk Button: From season 4 onward, she will be furious if someone wakes her up from her nap.
  • She's a Man in Japan: Is male in the original Castilian Spanish dub, but female in the English and Latin American Spanish versions.
  • Sleepyhead: As her name would suggest, Sleepy Bird spends most of her time asleep.
  • Species Surname: Her last name is Bird.

    Baby Bird
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6000d608cb08ff63269830e076376465_spiders.png
Sleepy Bird's son, who hatched in "Sleepy Bird's Surprise".
  • Alliterative Name: Baby Bird.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: His father is never mentioned.
  • Black Bead Eyes: He has black dots for eyes.
  • Break the Cutie: Baby Bird becomes a weeping mess when the stars stop shining in “Twinkle Twinkle”, Pocoyo and Pato refuse to play ball with him in “Having a Ball”, and Pocoyo, Pato, Elly, and Loula torment each other with whistles in “Who’s Calling Me Now?”.
  • Keet: To the point where even Pocoyo can get tired of him. Exaggerated, as he is a bird.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Gender-inverted. Baby Bird idolizes Pocoyo as if he was his older brother.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Caterpillar.
  • Species Surname: Just like his mother, his surname is Bird.

    Fred
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5a579d559538462e5a82d45f.png
A goofy octopus and Whale's best friend. He likes making people laugh.

    Caterpillar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/images_3975.jpg
Baby Bird’s best friend. She can turn into a butterfly whenever she pleases.

    Angry Alien
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krldl8_2.jpg
A small alien who wants to take over Pocoyo World.
  • Aesop Amnesia: No matter how many times he does a Heel–Face Turn, Angry Alien will always revert to his antagonistic tendencies in his next appearance.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Unlike other aliens in the cartoon, Angry Alien is not friendly at all, and is determined to take over Pocoyo's world. Fortunately for them, he's not very good at it.
  • Alliterative Name: Angry Alien.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: “Pocoyo & The Space Circus” reveals there is a whole species of angry aliens who behave exactly like Angry Alien.
  • Bald of Evil: Angry Alien has no hair.
  • Black Bead Eyes: He has black dots for eyes.
  • Chronic Villainy: See Aesop Amnesia.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: No matter how many times he causes trouble, Pocoyo and co. still treat him as a friend.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Angry Alien is revealed to have a close bond with his father in “An Alien Christmas Carol”.
  • Evil Laugh: He has at least one per appearance. The narrator even lampshades this in the "Super Yeti".
Narrator: Why do villains always laugh like that?
  • Goldfish Poop Gang: Angry Alien is always trying to take over Pocoyo World, but he’s too small to pose as an actual threat most of the time and caves in to Pocoyo and co.’s attempts to befriend him.
  • Harmless Villain: He wants to conquer Pocoyo's world, but because he's so small and his "evil" plans of doing so are so laughably trivial, nobody takes him seriously.
  • Meaningful Name: Angry Alien is angry almost all the time.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Despite his small size and everyone treating him more as a friend than an enemy, Angry Alien does have moments where he becomes a legitimate threat, such as in "King Yeti" when he manages to turn Yanko, a Gentle Giant yeti, into a monstrous King Kong Copy capable of destroying a city.
  • Poke the Poodle: Some of Angry Alien's attempts to conquer the world involve the most minor of evil acts you can think of, such as knocking down Pocoyo's block tower or ruining Pato's painting (and ending up improving it by accident).
  • Tsundere: He seems obsessed with conquering Pocoyo World and making Pocoyo and co. bow down to him, but in most of his appearances he finds himself enjoying their friendship.
  • Ship Tease: Caterpillar has a crush on him. Sometimes it delights him, other times he sees her as an Abhorrent Admirer.

    Roberto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pocoyo_ch_roberto.png
Nina’s pet robot. He cares about her a lot and values her safety.

    Yanko
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4d4288a301b033d3c664a3e3288ff2707a2a1093681c7125d97133f911151561_ri_v_ttw.jpg
A yeti Pocoyo befriends in “A Very Special Guest”. He lives in the South Pole.
  • Gentle Giant: He is the tallest character in the show and also happens to be sweet and shy.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: It makes him happy when Pocoyo and Loula want to be his friends and is hurt when Pato, Elly, Baby Bird, and Caterpillar think he’s a monster.
  • Shrinking Violet: For a big guy, he’s rather timid.
