The Plants
Tropes about the Plants as a whole
- Always Lawful Good: Almost every Plant in the team is considered heroes or, at worst, Anti-Heroes. Averted with the Royal Hypno Flower.
- Badass Family: A lot of the Plants have relatives with each other. The most noteworthy of them are the Pult Brothers (Kernal Pult, Cabbage Pult, Melon Pult, Winter Melon, and Iceburg Lettuce)
- They Killed Kenny Again: Both the Plants and Zombies often have some of their members killed only to return in the next episode.
Peashooter
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
One of the top members of the Garden Ops, Peashooter is a brave plant. He always looks out for his friends, but especially Sunflower.
- All-Loving Hero: He tends to love all of his fellow plants, with a few exceptions, such as Bloomerang and Ice Pea.
- Arch-Enemy: Said in a Q&A that Zomboss is the one zombie he likes attacking the most.
- Breakout Character: Of the plants, to the point of becoming the Series Mascot, and having both spin-off videos named after him.
- Characterization Marches On: The earlier videos had him as much more of a Jerkass, often calling his fellow plants idiots or treating them with disdain. Later he became much nicer and friendlier towards his fellow plants, with some exceptions.
- The Hero: Very much so.
- Odd Friendship: With Paco, which was the premise of the "Paco & Peashooter's Adventures" spin-off.
- Official Couple: With Sunflower.
- The Rival: Bloomerang, during the time Peashooter was named the leader of the plants, but they eventually made up.
- Series Mascot: Is probably the most well know character of the videos, next to maybe Citron or Coney.
Sunflower/Dr. Sunflowerstein
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
Former leader of the plants. Briefly renamed herself "Dr. Sunflowerstein" after finding a labcoat, but went back to her old name after suffering an injury. Girlfriend of Peashooter.
- All Women Are Lustful: Discussed by Wall-nut, where he said her more aggressively romantic behavior towards Peashooter was caused by the influence of the coat.
- Berserk Button: Not much makes her angry, but it's not good to threaten Peashooter when she's around.
- Big Good: Was this for a while, then was demoted to The Lancer after her injury.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: As Dr. Sunflowerstein, although it took a while for the plants to figure this out.
- Deadpan Snarker: Early on, and still is on occasion.
- The Lancer: Since returning from injury has become this, first to the Royal Hypno Flower, then Crazy Dave. Actually discussed by Dr. Zomboss in "the Puffshrooms" where he said she's is Crazy Dave's advocate, like Head Zombie is to him.
- Official Couple: With Peashooter.
- Old Shame: An in-universe example- her time as "Dr. Sunflowerstein" she doesn't like to talk about that.
- Put on a Bus: Was sent back to the greenhouse after being blasted by Mr. Coconut when the zombies took control of her via her labcoat. Later returned, but in a reduced rank.
Citron
Voiced by LuigiFan0001
An orange from the future capable of firing energy blasts. A bit rough around the edges, though he does mellow out over time. Best friends with Mac, the Giga Torchwood.
- Arch-Enemy: Captain Bubblebeard, the zombie pirate.
- Author Avatar: LuigiFan considers Citron to be his favorite plant because it's the one he uses his actual voice for, which is also why he hosts the Q & A's.
- Deadpan Snarker: One of several in the series.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: Comes from the future, although this is to be expected.
- Jerkass: In the beginning, although he did become better later on.
- Jerkass Façade: Adopted one of these during "Total Stuffed Fluffed Island" so he could flush out potential threats.
- The Rival: Sonic during "Total Stuffed Fluffed Island," but they did eventually settle their differences.
Paco
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
A female cactus with a snappy attitude. Co-stars with Peashooter on a spin-off show.
- Gratuitous Spanish: Come with the character.
- Single Cactus Seeks Good Man: Has occasionally expressed the desire to find a boyfriend, but not much has come from it.
- Spicy Latina: Is basically a cactus version of this.
Fume Shroom
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
One of the various mushrooms and a proud father of several Puffshrooms. Uses ink attacks in battle.
- Cargo Ship: In earlier videos, he would hit on non-sentient tomato & melon plants.
- Catchphrase: Ham-bur-ger!
- Alternatively, "No hamburger today."
- Mister Seahorse: Had his kids due to spores, with no mother. Justified since mushrooms reproduce asexually in real life.
- Nice Guy: Is one of the nicer plants and gets along with pretty much everyone.
- Papa Wolf: Loves his kids and will do anything to protect them.
The Zombies
Tropes about the Zombies in General
- Always Chaotic Evil: Played straight in most of their appearances, although some video subvert this.
- Demonic Spiders: Just like their in-game counterparts, some of the zombies fall into this. Some of the plants even lampshade this too.
- Mascot Mook: There is a reason why the the Zombies are the characters most LuigiFan Fans know about
- Night of the Living Mooks: ALL OF THEM. Justified considering that the series is based on Plants vs. Zombies
- Super Drowning Skills: Any zombie that enters the water is usually killed off for the rest of the episode. Defied with Ducktube, Duckweed, Snorkler, and Capatin George.
- Stupid Evil: With the notable exception of Zomboss, Head Zombie and Newspaper, most of the Zombies fall in this category.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Both the Plants and Zombies often have some of their members killed only to return in the next episode.
- What Measure Is a Mook?: Zig-Zagged. Almost every Zombie in the show has a flushed out backstory, yet still doesn't stop the plants from killing the zombies. Thankfully for the zombies, Death Is Cheap.
Dr. Edgar George Zomboss
Voiced by: LuigiFan00001
The leader of the zombies, always trying to ensure that they get the brains. A brilliant genius, he rarely succeeds in his endeavors due to his idiot zombies.
- Bad Boss: Frequently berates his minions and punishes them (although usually just Head Zombie) for failure. Zigzagged in the Downpour: Meet Commando & Chill Will short; he apologizes to the zombies for making them go out in the rain and offers them hot cocoa, but he still punishes Head Zombie for no reason.
- Big Bad: As the leader of the zombies.
- Catchphrase:
- "I want brains, on my plate."
- "That idea was so stupid, I think you gave me cancer."
- Disproportionate Retribution: Tends to punish Head Zombie for the dumbest of reasons.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Ed is his son, although this rarely referenced in the videos themselves.
- Evil Is Hammy: He can be rather enthusiastic about his villainy, especially when calling out his minions.
- Humongous Mecha: Just like his canon game counterpart, he has one, but only used it in the last video.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase: UUURRRRGGGGGGH, (ZOOOMBIIIEEE NAAAAAMMMMMEEEEE)!!! YOU SIR, ARE IN SO! MUCH!! TROUBLE!!!
- The Man Behind the Man: Originally, he was an offscreen presence, with Head Zombie serving as the zombie's leader but eventually, he started appearing more.
- Orcus on His Throne: Rarely confronts the plants directly, preferring to stand back and let his zombies attack, delegating most of the work to Head Zombie.
- Running Gag: Has a tendency to lose his pants (usually due to Coney stealing them).
- Speaking Simlish: His first few appearances had him doing this.
- Stylistic Suck: From a meta standpoint; instead of being an official plush, he's basically a regular zombie plush with fake eyebrows & brains taped to his head. Of course, this just makes him more hilarious.
- Surrounded by Idiots: His usual response to his troops' failures.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Pop Smarts, a type of boxed mini brains.
- Vocal Evolution: His voice is less hammy in the earlier videos.
- You Don't Look Like You: Looks nothing like the character from the video games, due to LuigiFan using a basic zombie figure and giving him taped on eyebrows and brains. This has actually been pointed out by characters on occasion. note
Head Zombie
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
The second in command, and field leader of the zombies. Frequently suffers punishments and "groundings" from Dr. Zomboss. Favors vehicles in battle.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: His skin is purple, much like a hypnotized zombie. According to the Q&A, it was caused from an addiction to purple food coloring before he became intelligent.
- Catchphrase: "Okay, I see the brains."
- The Dragon: Is second in command, next to only Zomboss.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: His genetically created son, Caput. Unlike Zomboss, he fully embraces his role as a dad.
- The Heavy: Was this in the earlier videos, actually fighting the plants in vehicles and serving as the zombies leader. Even after Zomboss was revealed, he still leads the zombies the majority of the time.
- Jerkass Woobie: Yes, he is a zombie trying to get human brains, but his boss mistreats him and frequently grounds him for the stupidest of reasons and he often suffers injuries at the leaves of the plants. Sometimes, you just feel sorry for the guy.
- Surrounded by Idiots: Has had this opinion of the zombies occasionally.
Coney Roadkill Ludenberger
Voiced by: LuigiFan00001
A rather goofy member of the Graveyard Ops, known for the large traffic cone on his head, and his non-sequitur dialogue. Loves Newspaper Zombie and memes.
- Abhorrent Admirer: For Newspaper
- Beware the Silly Ones: Normally he acts goofy, but if properly angered, can be an effective fighter.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: One of the wackier zombies, but can do his job well if he applies himself.
- Breakout Character: Not only among the fandom, but for his creator as well, which is why he tends to appear more often in other videos.
- But Not Too Bi: His official wiki profile says he is bisexual, but he's never shown any attraction to women.
- Fourth-Wall Observer / Meta Guy: Basically he's both of these; though the videos usually have No Fourth Wall anyway, Coney is the one who tends to point out certain inconsistencies and often will address the camera to make an observation.
- Informed Ability: Is supposed to be the engineer for the zombies, but he's rarely seen making anything. He once claimed to have made a hoverboard (one of those toy ones that were recalled) but it exploded.
- Punch-Clock Villain: More so than any of the other zombies, as he's pretty friendly when he's not trying to steal brains.
- Single-Target Sexuality: Despite his bisexual tendencies, he's really only shown affection for Newspaper.
- The Stoner: Well, he's never seen smoking anything, for obvious reasons, but he said "smoke weed everyday" is his favorite meme and he did celebrate 420 in a "Robot Peashooter" sketch.
Newspaper Zombie
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
Fourth in command of the zombies, Newspaper is one of the more competent zombies. He's usually content to read his newspaper and do his Sudoku puzzle, and hates Coney bothering him.
- Berserk Button: Do not damage his newspaper or stop him from doing his Sudoku.
- Lightning Bruiser: When he's pissed, he'll run very fast and the plants begin to struggle to defeat him.
- Only Sane Zombie: Newspaper is generally one of the more rational zombies in the team.
- You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: I'll give you one guess.
Edmund Florian McZombie (a.k.a. Ed)
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
The son of Dr. Zomboss, Ed is a goofy zombie with a penchant for non-sequiturs and general craziness. Loves his pet pig and donuts.
- Beast of Battle: He occasionally rides his pig into battle.
- Catchphrase: "Yay!" "It's time to make the donuts," & "Time to eat some pizza."
- Cloud Cuckoolander: Oh yes, nearly everything out of his mouth is some kind of random saying.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: That said, however, he can show remarkable competence on occasion.
- Expy: Word of God is that he's based on Ed from Crank Yankers and has some of his personality traits (such as calling people "lady").
- Heroic BSoD: Went into one after his pig died, but came out of it when his pig was resurrected.
- Token Good Teammate: Ed is one of the more compassionate Zombies on the team alongside Arnold.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Everyone calls him Ed.
- Too Dumb To Be Undead: Most assuredly, though he does have his moments of competence.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Donuts, natch. And pizza.
- Undead Child: It's heavily implied that Ed was zombied at 7 years old after his possessed Banette Doll killed him.
Ducktube
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
A zombie with a duck inner tube, usually used for the pool, though he is more often seen on land. Adopts the superhero persona of "Super Ducky" from time to time.
- Big "NO!": Often blurts this out.
- Catchphrase: "No, don't make me do this!"
- Companion Cube: Mr. Quackers, his duck floatie, he's never seen without it.
- A Day in the Limelight: Had two episodes dedicated to himself as "Super Ducky."
- Incredibly Lame Pun: Likes to use these as Super Ducky, often duck related.
- Simpleton Voice: Based on Meatwad's.
- Super Not-Drowning Skills: He is one of the few zombies that can enter the pool without losing a life.
The EEEs
''"EEEEEEE!!!!"
A subspecies of shrunken Zombies that were created by Dr. Krankcase
- EEEvil Counterpart: Are this to the Puffshrooms, both of which often come in droves.
- Mini Mook: All of them are smaller version of other zombies.
- A Day In The Lime Light: The EEEss get a major arc near the end of Season 2 where it is revealed that they were created by Dr. Krankcase.
- One-Word Vocabulary: Most of them only can say "E".
- Our Homunculi Are Different: They were created from the DNA of other Zombies and were shrunken.
Super Brainz
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
A superhero zombie/actor from the future, he is the sworn enemy of "Super Bean," Laser Bean's alter ego.
- Anti-Villain: Isn't really a villain per se, since he's a superhero, and is only considered one because the zombies are the default bad guys.
- Arch-Enemy: Super Bean a.k.a. Laser Bean.
- Blow You Away: His "Twisty Tornado" move, which is basically the Turbo Twister from his home game with a different name.
- Catchphrase: "Here I come to save the day!"
- Finger Poke of Doom: A variant happens with his "Teeny Tiny Kick of Truth", with is a small kick that can send whoever's hit flying.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: Hails from a future where zombies rule the Earth.
- Hypocrite: Once got mad at Duckweed for stealing his Catchphrase, despite the fact that he basically stole it from Mighty Mouse.
- Kamehame Hadouken: Actually uses both, but he calls them the "Kame-Hame-Brain" & "Braindouken" respectively.
- Large Ham: As befitting a superhero.
- Punctual Pounder: Tends to say "Take THIS! And THAT! And THIS!" when punching plants.
Normal Zombie (a.k.a. Norm)
Voiced by LuigiFan0001
A generic regular zombie, but known for his loyalty and wondering if Head Zombie's plan will fail.
- Abandoned Catchphrase: In the earlier videos, he would ask "but boss, what if this plan fails?" although he eventually stopped saying this.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Norm may seem as dumb as the other zombies, but he can be quite dangerous if the opportunity presents itself.
- Cool Bike: Had one in his first appearance, but it got destroyed.
- The Generic Guy: Pretty much his character; he doesn't really have anything that makes him stand out from the other zombies, he's just kind of there.
- Meaningful Name: Norm is short for "normal," which he is.
- Took a Level in Badass: He obtained a helmet, giving him power to control a tank. He lost it and his promotion eventually, though.
Arnold & Little Munchkin Oompa Loompa Dude
Voiced by: LuigiFan0001
The biggest member of the Graveyard Ops and his little friend.
- Always Someone Better: His cousin, Titan, and his little buddy, Giant Macro Oompa Loompa Man (a normal sized zombie). Lampshaded by Arnold, who says Titan makes him feel like garbage. At the very least, Arnold isn't a massive jerkass to Little Munchkin, unlike Titan, who sends GMOLM out against his will.
- Boss in Mook Clothing: Despite him being one of the non-boss zombies, Arnold is often one of the hardest zombies to kill without the help of Insta-Kill Plants.
- Berserk Button Hurting the other is one for both of them.
- The Big Guy: Arnold's role in the Graveyard Ops.
- Catchphrase: (Little Munchkin) "Oh my God, you killed Arnold!" (Arnold) "Me buff, me name Arnold."
- Fastball Special: They often use this to attack.
- Gentle Giant: Arnold can be, unless you hurt his buddy.
- Handicapped Badass: Despite having no legs, Little Munchkin can still move pretty fast.
- Hulk Speak / Third-Person Person: Arnold in a combination of both of these.
- Metronomic Man Mashing: Arnold does this to Zomboss in "Little Munchkin Oompa Loompa Dude" after finding out he used him to infiltrate the plants, complete with a Shout-Out to "Put out the Darkwing."
- Older Than He Looks: Lampshaded in Little Munchkin's titular episode; Zomboss planned to have him pose as a baby to infiltrate the plants. Little Munchkin then pointed out that he's 45 years old.
- Token Good Teammate: Arnold is one of the more compassionate Zombies on the team alongside Ed, though this trope ends up subverted when someone threatens Little Munchkin.
- True Companions: Yes.
