Human Cast

    Takeru Tenkuji/Kamen Rider Ghost

Takeru Tenkuji/Kamen Rider Ghost

The son of a famous ghost hunter Ryu Tenkuji and the sole heir to the Tenkujii Temple. Takeru is a bright, carefree, and reckless youth who holds true to his beliefs.

10 years after the death of his father, on his 18th birthday, he received a package sent by his father not long before his untimely death. Inside was a Ghost Eyecon, a mysterious, eye-shaped artifact. This lead to an attack by Gamma - monsters from another dimension - on the temple. Takeru is killed by the Gamma while protecting his newly made friend, Cyber. Soon after, he was resurrected as a ghost by a mysterious hermit and given the Ghost Driver, which allowed him to use the Eyecon to fight as Kamen Rider Ghost. However, it wasn't a perfect resurrection - Takeru only has 99 days before he disappears permanently. In order to revive himself, he must collect the 15 Ghost Eyecons within 99 days.

For the basic tropes for him, use this link since this will cover just information on him that are part of Yokai Chronicles.

Tropes that apply to him in general

  • Break the Cutie: When Specter first appears steals the Edison Eyecon. It causes him to remain invisible to even the Yokai Watch and Shiranui until he learns of Komasan trying to fight trucks.
  • Cooldown Hug: He can remove the Gamma's influence over people by hugging them. It also works on anyone under the influence of Yokai and on Yokai when she’s spent too much time wearing a Shadowside Damashii.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: To another fanfic called Friendship is Timeless for a chapter.
  • Intangible Man: As a ghost, he has this power. Comes in handy when investigating things. He uses it more often here than in the original series, sometimes using to to phase through things when he’s too lazy to open a door.
  • Invisibility: As a ghost, he can become invisible whenever he chooses. Though he can sometimes vanish against his will if his emotions get the better of him such as when Specter beat him and took the Edison Eyecon, taking hearing Komasan willingly putting himself into danger trying to fight trucks like Jibanyan does to snap out of his depression.
  • Living on Borrowed Time: Only has 99 days to complete his mission or he'll die again. It increases to 198 days after Cyber willing gives up her own 99 days when she dies to extend his time alongside Ryu’s.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: He has 99 days to live and complete his mission before he'll die for good. He runs out by chapter 19, but gets another 198 from the Toucon Boost Eyecon and Cyber giving up her 99 days when she dies.

Main Yokai

    Whisper

A Yokai released by Cyber from a capsule machine in the woods one day, and who became her Yokai butler out of gratitude.

  • Battle Butler: He's quite the contender, especially when he combines with the Gan Gun Hand to make its Sword Mode to use with the Mitsunari Eyecon.
  • Butt-Monkey: The poster boy for this trope. No matter how hard he tries to hide it, everyone knows he knows nothing about Yokai and almost everyone will remind him of this. He’s often the one that Yurusen inflicts the most pain upon out of the other Yokai in the cast.
  • The Chew Toy: Obviously, sometimes getting himself into horrible accidents either by himself, by a Yokai, or by Yurusen such as her throwing him into an escalator and causing it to stretch him out.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He can be rather snarky, especially when Yurusen is around.
  • Feigning Intelligence: Frequently says that he knows everything about Yokai, only to end up relying on the Yokai wiki known as the Ukiukipedia for most of his information. Cyber thinks of his reliance on it as a way of him catching up to the last 190 years. This is eventually revealed to be because he has an inferiority complex, and just wants to be the best butler he can be for Cyber. He's also revealed to be a type of Yokai called a Shittakaburi, whose belches possess people so they feign intelligence.
  • Hyperspace Mallet: He can produce his YokaiPad and various items to bash Yurusen with from seemingly nowhere, even though he doesn't wear any clothes.
  • Intangible Man: Whisper is a stereotypical ghost-like Yokai, and gets the intangibility that comes with it. Although he can be touched, he can also phase through walls and floors if he chooses to.
  • Iron Butt-Monkey: He can get beaten up, cut in half, blown up, melted, and will still be floating around unharmed later.
  • Ironic Name: For someone named "Whisper" he sure shouts a lot.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Claims to have expertise on all things Yokai, but actually knows nothing and relies entirely on his YokaiPad for information.
  • Large Ham: And how!
  • Mr. Exposition: Whether it's from his little pad or something he actually knows, Whisper tends to explain how things work regarding the Yokai World.
  • Multipurpose Tongue: It borderlines on being prehensile.
  • My Greatest Failure: His unintentional possession tarnished a child's reputation before leading him to a famous general, who by dumb luck had a successful military career prior to leading his army to their deaths in a hopeless battle. Whisper knew his success was by no merit of his own, but takes full responsibility for his death, so he changed his appearance and resolved to never use his power again. That doesn’t last once he realizes that Mitsunari has an Eyecon and that he is the one who can unlock it, causing him to use his power to try to escape everyone trying to make the Eyecon.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: To Cyber.
  • Our Spirits Are Different: A Know-Nothing Know-It-All butler.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Once played unwitting adviser to Ishida Mitsunari, vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Once the Mitsunari Eyecon is made, Whisper is able to combine with the Gan Gun Hand to create the Sword Mode for Specter.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Cyber and to Mitsunari to the point of trying to hide his blade in a special abandoned home they once lived in so that Mitsunari would not become an Eyecon and be pulled into the ongoing events
  • Useless Without Cell Phones: He doesn't know a thing about Yokai without his Yokai Pad. Averted when it comes to Ishida Mitsunari, knowing a lot about him. That’s because he was the vassal to Mitsunari when the man was alive
  • Verbal Tic: He has a tendency to say "Whis".
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Is this with Jibanyan. The two are often at odds with each other, usually in the form of criticizing or arguing, though they do seem to be genuine friends.

    Jibanyan/Akamaru

A jibakurei of the Pretty Tribe. He was once an ordinary cat who died and became a Yokai after being hit by a car. He was bound to the crossroads he died at before coming to live at Cyber's house. Despite being friends, he is just as lazy as one would expect from a cat, and doesn't usually take action in situations unless he is properly motivated or interested.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Has had two so far, mainly centered around him.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: Even back when he was a normal cat, he had red fur.
  • Badass Adorable: Extremely cute, but quite capable of combat.
  • Bakeneko and Nekomata: Jibanyan and most of his clone characters are based on nekomata. Jibanyan himself resembles the Vengeful Ghost version, but played more lightheartedly. He's also not as intelligent as most nekomata.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason why he befriends Cyber and Takeru.
  • Cats Are Lazy: Jibanyan spends most of his time at home being a lazy freeloader.
  • Cute Kitten: He's an adorable cat Yokai.
  • Cats Are Snarky: Despite being laid-back, he also tends to snark quite a bit when the situation calls for it.
  • Ear Notch: Gained it during his death.
  • Fan Boy: Of a girl band called "NYAKB48", that dress in cat outfits.
  • Fusion Dance: He has done this with Whisper, creating Buchinyan.
  • Ghost Amnesia: His memory of when he was alive is hazy, being unable to remember what his name was, or that he sacrificed his life to save his previous owner, Emi. He also recalls her final words incorrectly making it sound like she was calling him "lame" after he died, when it was reserved for herself. He soon regains his memories when he reunites with Emi after defeating the Car Ganma.
  • Hammerspace: Can keep a large amount of items in his haramaki, usually Chocobo and his NYAKB48 magazines.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Even back when he was alive, his memories consisted of him sleeping all the time.
  • Hidden Depths: Is revealed to be extremely knowledgeable about Yokai, in stark contrast to Whisper Feigning Intelligence and knowing next to nothing about Yokai. His training against vehicles also let him figure out a way to use his failures as fast travel.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Can be selfish, rude, and lazy at times, but ultimately means well and will help out his friends when the time comes.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Was this back when he was a normal cat with Emi, who was so loyal he gave his life to save her and even went on to protect her as a Yokai in two separate occasions with the second having him go against the Shinigami themselves.
  • Magikarp Power:
    • Jibanyan is not very powerful at first, but when he reaches a Rage Breaking Point (such as the Car Ganma being anywhere near him), he can become a powerful variant called "Jibanyan S", possessing the high Rank S that Legendary/powerful Yokai have.
    • He eventually gains the power to become his Lightside and Shadowside versions
  • Meaningful Name:
    • His name when he was alive, Akamaru, references his red coat (Akamaru literally translating to "red boy").
    • His name, Jibanyan, is also meaningful since it combines ‘nyan’ which is meant to be the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat’s meow, nya, with ‘jiba’ which is short for ‘Jibakurei’ aka a spirit bound to a single place (ie where he died until he moved in with Cyber and making it his haunting spot when he’s not fighting cars).
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Serves as this to Cyber alongside Whisper.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Jibanyan" is a name that other Yokai call him by, as he had forgotten his real name. But he ended up using it due to liking it.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Mainly due to his default smile, which can be odd during moments when he's very angry or sad.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Can beat up enemies much bigger than him, especially when he first becomes Jibanyan S and then gaining his Shadowside
  • Playing with Fire: He has fire based abilities, like the yokai Nekomata.
  • Power Glows: In his powerful "Jibanyan S" form, he is accompanied by a scarlet colored aura.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: His signature "Hyakuretsu Nikkyu" attack consists of this.
  • Recurring Element: Also like Pikachu his popularity has inspired a number of other "-nyan" suffixed nekomata characters. To the point of being a borderline Fountain of Expies. Takeru even Lampshades this
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: One of the more cute Yokai in the story.
  • Simpleminded Wisdom: He has a very one track mind which only ever thinks about Chocobo and NYAKB48, but he is quite knowledgeable in Yokai and can often shed insight when Whisper is unable to.
  • Sweet Tooth: An extreme addiction to chocolate, specifically a wafer bar covered in it called a Chocobo.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chocobo, a chocolate-coated wafer bar... despite cats being unable to eat chocolate. (Then again, he is a Yokai, and hence no ordinary cat). Even when he lost his memory when he gained the power of Shadowside, he would only agree to talks if he got fed Chocobo and is a surefire way to change him to normal Jibanyan is with them
  • Too Dumb to Live: If he wasn't already dead, he would have died many times over by now. Prior to moving in with Cyber, he would try to attack cars and always end up getting hit and injured.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Has several moments that have him different from his mainline counterparts.
    • In his introductory chapter, he saves Emi from the Car Ganma by triggering a change in his Rank to become Jibanyan S and help from Ghost
    • As of Chapter 23, Jibanyan after coming into contact with Kamen Rider Yokai's Pretty Ark has gained the power to change into his Lightside and Shadowside forms, S-Rank and SS-Rank respectively
  • Troll: When he was brought to the temple to recover from his multiple losses to trucks and cars, the moment he got a whiff of Chocobo, he ran over Takeru, took all the Chocobo, and proceeded to have Onari, Shibuya, and Narita beat each other up trying to get him because they couldn't see him and only the current Chocobo he had out.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Emi and later Cyber. To Emi because he literally gives his life for her and still remembers her fondly despite the fact that his Ghost Amnesia painted a very damning picture of her, and to Cyber because she was so nice to him and offered her home to him to live in. His loyalty to both made him Took a Level in Badass to help both in different ways
  • Verbal Tic: He either ends his sentences with "-nya" or he replaces the N's in words with "nya".

    USApyon

A 'Merican Yokai of the Usurakage Tribe that appears to be a rabbit in a spacesuit, complete with ears. He's actually an otter. When he was alive, he was to be used as a test subject in a new spacefaring rocket, but he escaped from his cage and destroyed it, ruining his owner’s chances at starting a new age of space exploration. He was first introduced in the second arc of the story, reading one of Kanon’s science texts to figure out why his rocket failed to launch. he forgot to put a cone on it.

  • Berserk Button: Insulting him or Kanon is a big no-no. If this happens, he'll press the "Vader Mode" buttons on his helmet, pull out his ray gun, and well... Go berserk. Yurusen is often the one that triggers this due to her Troll nature.
  • Moon Rabbit: The theme of his design, as a "space-faring rabbit". Even though he's not really a rabbit at all.
  • Verbal Tic: He tends to end his sentences with "Dani".

    Komasan

A little Komainu of the Pretty Tribe. He spent a lot of his time sitting around a shrine with a dog statue on the premises in the countryside. When the shrine was torn down, he tried to move to the city, befriending Cyber and Takeru, moved into the Tenkujii Temple, introduced his brother Komajiro, and making a life for himself in the city.

  • Adaptational Badass: Komasan was able to scare off a Ganma through unleashing his Soultimate. Later on, Komasan gains the power to become Shishikoma when Takeru removes the seal at the school.
  • Apologizes a Lot: Komasan is prone to apologizing whenever he makes a mistake or causes a problem. Sometimes he'll apologize when it's no fault of his own.
  • Almighty Janitor: When he received news of his brother Komajirou coming to town, he became one that cleaned the entire temple from top to bottom in several minutes.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While most Yokai started off as ordinary living creatures that died or as ordinary inanimate objects, Komasan and Komajiro have a mother which implies they were born as Yokai.
  • Art Evolution: He has the most radical redesign in Shadowside. For one he now looks like a dog, and his Shadow form actually looks like the Shrine Dogs they're based on.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Komasan is revealed to have a very short attention span, being distracted by everything. This quirk of his is used to beat Poofessor, who is an Insufferable Genius who loves having others listen to him
  • Barrier Warrior: Has a skill called "Fire Wall" that protects himself and his team from fire based attacks.
  • Bash Brothers: With Komajiro. His ability, Alpha, increases his power when paired with the Omega ability, which Komajiro/Komiger has.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Don't pick on Komajiro.
    • Don't steal the Edison Eyecon.
  • Beware the Nice Ones:
    • Komasan may be a little adorable Komainu...but he’s still a Komainu that can summon a massive one made of spirit flames using his Soultimate.
    • He becomes even more dangerous when the seal at the school is removed, causing him to become the stronger and faster Shishikoma
  • Big Brother Instinct: Very protective of Komajiro, even when he's the one who needs help.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Played with. Komajiro does look up to him, but for the most it is Komajiro who is far more competent than Komasan.
  • Book Dumb: In regards to anything about the city and modern technology.
  • Catchphrase: "Monge!" whenever he is amazed or surprised at something.
  • Cartoon Creature: He's supposed to be a lion-dog, but looks like a mix between a cat and a baby panda.
    • This may be due to him being a cub and hasn't grown his mane yet.
  • Character Development: While he was a shy, innocent Komainu that was getting used to the city at first, he’s become a mainstay of the Tenkujii Temple, becoming a Cosplayer thanks to Sennin’s visits often resulting in him ending up in outfits. He also grew to become more confident and close to Takeru, seeing him as a big brother over time.
  • Country Mouse: A perfect example of this trope, being a country bumpkin with no concept of the city whatsoever.
  • Feigning Intelligence: Tries to teach Komajiro about how the city works, despite being a country bumpkin who barely knows how it works himself.
  • Flaming Hair: While he doesn't have hair on his head, he does have blue, fiery pointy eyebrows.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Komasan often gets worried about what's gonna happen to Komajiro, which makes him the responsible sibling to Komajiro's foolish sibling.
  • Friendless Background: Spent all of his time at the shrine through the various seasons, with only the occasional festival to interact with people. When he's forced out of his home, this quickly changes for the better when he explores the city and befriends Cyber and Takeru.
  • High-Pressure Emotion: When the Edison Eyecon is stolen by Specter and Takeru can’t become visible, he goes out to the most dangerous part of the town’s streets to fight a truck. When Takeru rescues him, he breaks down sobbing and feeling guilty that he’s not strong enough to get the Eyecon back.
  • Iconic Item: The green pouch with white swirls he carries on his back.
  • Lightning/Fire Juxtaposition: Komasan is fire to Komajiro's lightning.
  • Magic Dance: His Soultimate move is the "Spirit Dance", which summons hitodama as fireballs that become a giant Komainu that attacks the enemy.
  • Magikarp Power: Much like Jibanyan, Komasan started off not very strong but can gain a more powerful form known as Shishikoma when the school’s seal in removed.
  • Nervous Wreck: He acts like this often, especially when he was given a tour of the city.
  • No Indoor Voice: Sometimes unintentional, but the easily excitable Komasan has a habit of yelling out "MONGE", attracting the attention of anyone who is capable of hearing him (as not everyone can due to him being a Yokai).
  • Non-Action Guy: He almost never resorts to violence except on some rare accidental instances, often preferring polishing the Edison Eyecon or doing Cosplay.
  • Older Than They Look: Komasan could be mistaken for a child under the age of 10, but he and Komajiro are actually over three centuries old.
  • Playing with Fire: He is a fire-attribute Yokai, who's primary attacks involving setting the enemy on fire. In addition, his Soultimate move, the "Spirit Dance", has him summoning fiery will-o'-the-wisps at the enemy that become a Komainu to maim.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: His shy, cautious nature makes him the blue oni to Komajiro's red.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Enough to rival Jibanyan. It gets worse when his brother Komajirou is with him.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: While he and his brother Komajiro are both sensitive characters, Komasan is the most sensitive from getting scared easily and amazed at new stuff while his brother on the other hand is a lot more calm and is adjusting to the city life and can even be seen learning how to use a Tablet. He and Komajiro are basically the reverse Mario and Luigi when it comes to their ages.
  • Shrinking Violet: He starts out like this in the story, but starts growing out of this as chapters go on. But he does get nervous very easily.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Komasan is shy and taken aback by the city, while Komajiro is curious and embraces all the city has to offer.
  • Those Two Guys: With Komajiro
  • Verbal Tic: Tends to add "zura" to the end of his sentences.
  • Vague Age: Komasan's age is a mystery. He's older than Komajiro, yet his behavior and the physical appearance of his human form makes him seem like he's between the age of 9 - 12. It's later revealed that both he and Komajiro are over three centuries old.

    Komajiro

Komasan's half-brother, also a komainu from the Pretty Tribe. He followed him from their home in the Yokai World to live in the city. Unlike his brother, he adapts very well to his new surroundings, though he still looks up to his big brother for guidance.

  • Bash Brothers: With Komasan.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: His human form.
  • Catchphrase: "Monge" which he shares with Komasan. However he doesn't say that phrase as much as Komasan however.
  • Chick Magnet: He’s a younger komainu that, when he cuddles with his brother, can cause girls to try to scoop them both up to hug.
  • Easily Impressed: At first Komajiro plays this straight as he's awestruck by all the wonders of the city. But then Komajiro gradually becomes more city savvy than his own brother.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: His energetic nature makes him the foolish sibling to Komasan's responsible sibling. Later on, this gets reversed.
  • Lightning/Fire Juxtaposition: Komajiro is lightning to Komasan's fire.
  • Older Than They Look: Like his brother, he is about 300 years old, despite looking very young in both his normal and human forms.
  • Only Sane Man: Of the two brothers, at least.
  • Palette Swap: His character design is basically Komasan but more brown.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: To an extent. Komajiro is scarcely seen without his cell phone, loving to chat on it, play games on it, or searching up info.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: His outgoing, inquisitive nature makes him the red to Komasan's blue.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Much like Komasan.
  • Shapeshifter: He along with his brother Komasan are able to shape shift into humans with the leaves that they wear on their heads.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Komajiro might not fit the manly man type. He's a lot more calmer and adjusts to new life in the city unlike his brother.
  • Those Two Guys: With Komasan.
  • Vague Age: While he is the youngest brothers to Komasan. It's difficult to tell what age he is which isn't helped by his brother's sensitivity. Doesn't help that his human form appears to be around the age of between 9 - 12 years old yet he and his brother are able to live on their own and travel.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: While Komajiro isn't the wisest. He is a lot more knowledgeable and is more level-headed than Komasan. This might be due to Komasan being his big brother and Komasan is mostly nervous and worried most of the time while Komajiro is younger than him but acts more relaxed.

    Hikikōmori
A bat Yokai of the Usurakage Tribe. Hikikōmori is afraid of the outdoors and would rather spend her whole life in Cyber's closet. Because of this, her business skills are incredible. She was met when she was Possessing Takeru.
  • Closet Sublet: She hardly ever comes out of Cyber's closet and if she has to leave, she takes the closet with her, much to the surprise of everyone and the embarrassment of Cyber’s.
  • Hikikomori: Her motif. Her name is a pun on this and the word for "bat", her wings look like she's huddling a blanket over his body, and she inflicts people with this when she inspirits them.
  • Nice Guy: She is quite grateful for Cyber’s kindness in letting her live in her closet, often helping her when she needs something ordered, taught Komajirou how to use the stock market to get funds, and getting the materials needed by Sennin and Edison for the Yokai Driver.

    Kyubi (Kyuubi)
A Bishōnen Nine-tailed kitsune of the Fushigi Tribe. He lives in Shopper’s Row, acting as a Guardian Kami for the populace that live there and using the foxes there as his ““eyes””. He was a Yokai that knew Tenkujii Ryu.
  • Asian Fox Spirit: Literally his species.
  • Color Contrast: Kyubi has a gold/purple color scheme.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: A bit of a territorial Manipulative Bastard who used a test for Komasan and Komajirou to provide information for Takeru about a Ganma that’s been attacking Shopper’s Row, where he is the Guardian Kami of and takes it seriously.
  • Playing with Fire: Fire-attribute.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: His body shape, voice, and behavior are rather feminine, but he is a strong Yokai nonetheless.
  • The Spymaster: He has the ability to look through the eyes of the foxes of Shopper’s Row, gaining intel from them that he shares with those affiliated with the Tenkujii Temple.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Golden Tofu, a special tofu made in just one place and served in limited quantities.

    Jinmenken
A human-faced dog from the Bukimi Tribe. Manjimutt was a salaryman who got fired due to downsizing after years of working for his company. After getting drunk and getting crushed under wooden planks with a toy poodle, he became a Yokai. Unlike most Yokai, he can be seen without a Yokai Watch, meaning he's a very powerful Yokai. However, his canine tendencies and creepy appearance tend to attract the attention of the local police.
  • Adaptational Badass: He's only a Rank E Yokai in the games (the lowest rank of all), but in the story he's fairly competent at hand-to-hand combat, matching Gurerurin from the Goketsu Tribe. He eventually reveals that all the time he spent in jails has allowed him to be capable of transforming into the Boss Yokai Prison Breaker.
  • Alcoholic Parent: Mainly what caused his life before becoming Jinmenken.
  • Beast with a Human Face: Literally a human-faced dog.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Unlike Nate in the anime, Cyber often visited Jinmenken when he went to jail even with all the Yokai she’s befriended. Because of this, when Nobunyaga sent out a call to arms for all the Yokai she’s befriended when she was kidnapped by the Bee Ganma, he was quick to respond, revealing he learned how to transform into the hulking Prison Breaker just to have something to let him help Cyber if she needed his aide.
  • Blessed with Suck: On one hand, the fact that he's not Invisible to Normals means he's actually a very powerful Yokai. On the other hand, this fact has also caused him endless misery.
  • Cool Old Guy: Or middle-aged, anyway.
  • Cowardly Lion: When called to deal with Gurerurin, he still has to be released from his prison cell's door. When he sees Gurerurin, he immediately goes back in until Cyber states that he's the only adult she can go to for this situation, motivating him to beat and befriend the Yokai.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: If his confrontation with Gurerurin is any indication (on top of the fact that, as mentioned above, the fact that he's not Invisible to Normals). He can also transform into Prison Breaker after all his time in jail, much to the horror of several Ganma.
  • Doting Parent: Even as a Yokai, he loves his daughter so much that the moment he realized he had forgotten he had gotten her a special present before his death and hid it at the park, he dropped everything else to go find it just so he could get it to her for her birthday the next day as a final present from him.
  • The Dreaded: Anyone who encounters him for the first time is utterly terrified. Ganma feel this way when he’s Prison Breaker.
  • The Eeyore: Prior to meeting Cyber and Takeru, he spent every moment wallowing in self-pity over his misfortune which dated back to when he was alive. While befriending Cyber and Takeru did improve his self-esteem and made him more ambitious, he still remains very melancholic.
  • Fusion Dance: The human salaryman merged with a toy poodle that shared his demise, to form Jinmenken.
  • Invisible to Normals: Averted. He's one of the few Yokai who can be seen by mortals unaided. This is due to the green part of his hair acting as a medium.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: He often succumbs to his dog instincts, which is what led to him getting arrested at the end of his introductory chapter.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Jinmenken in general are able to turn other people into Jinmenken by biting them. While this is an Informed Ability in his introductory chapter, it was proven true when Ikanome’s troops invaded.
  • Scars Are Forever: The drunk blushes he had when he died remained on his Yokai form.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He presumably never had combat training back when he was alive. That said, the fact that he's not Invisible to Normals means he's actually a very powerful Yokai (and was tough enough to fight Gurerurin, a Yokai based around Japanese street thugs, to a standstill). Averted when after spending so much time in jail, he’s learned to transform into Prison Breaker

    Robonyan
A robotic cat Yokai from the Goketsu Tribe. In the far future, Jibanyan decided to robotize himself, and became Robonyan. His signature move, the Rocket Punch, makes him a very powerful Yokai. He is also capable of time travel, shapeshifting, and even has a chocolate bar factory installed in his body.
  • Badass Adorable: Has Jibanyan's cuteness, but is much tougher and powerful, which is contributed to him becoming a member of a different tribe and being a Rank A Yokai.
  • Casual Time Travel: Always travels to the past and back whenever Cyber needs him.
  • Color Contrast: Some parts of his body are swapped from his original self (blue body with red on the bell collar and flame on his tails).
  • Expy:
    • Robonyan in general is also a Shout-Out to the Terminator, with his "I'll be back" catchphrase, the idea of a time traveling robot, and doing the thumbs up as he descends into a portal which references a scene from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
    • His backstory of how he was once a regular being, but turned into a mechanical one is similar to the Cybermen from Doctor Who, particularity the Cybus ones. They even share the same blank stare.
  • Fatal Flaw: Every powerful robot, but consumes a lot of energy. He justifies this by saying there is so much energy in the future that his consumption isn’t a nuisance in that time.
  • Jet Pack: Has one built behind his pack.
  • Machine Monotone: Speaks like this.
  • Made of Iron: Quite literally in this case, since he has a metallic exterior making him very tough.
  • My Future Self and Me: When Jibanyan meets him.
  • Painful Transformation: The transition from Jibanyan to Robonyan was not pleasant.
  • Primary-Color Champion: He has red, blue, gold, and silver colors.
  • Rocket Punch: His signature move.
  • Stable Time Loop: It's implied that him going back in time to convince Jibanyan to roboticize himself, is what led to his creation to begin with. It’s also implied that his picture of a wedding was needed to create the Yokai Eyecon.
  • Super-Toughness: Not surprising since he's made of metal and all, as well as hailing from the Goketsu tribe.
  • Transforming Mecha: He can transform into any vehicle, but prefers to use a motorcycle-based form to let Cyber ride him.

     Atsugaru
A Yokai of the Pretty Tribe and leader of the Hot Sect Yokai, a group of four Yokai that party and generate massive amounts of heat. He is an S-Rank Yokai and was first introduced having a Hot Sect party at the Tenkujii Temple. He’s often seen with the Hot S Ect Yokai or with just Fu-chan.

  • Badass Cape
  • The Leader: Of the "Hot Sect" conformed by other heat-based Yo-Kai. Also the co-leader of the developing “Temp Sect” being made by him and Fubuki-hime.

    Fubuki-Hime/Fu-chan
A Yokai of the Pretty Tribe. Fubuki-hime is a powerful S-Rank Yokai that is seemingly a living embodiment of winter itself. She was introduced along with the Hot Sect Yokai early on.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Let’s see... long blue hair? Check. Always wears a kimono that compliments her? Check. Tends to give a flirtatious wink? Yep.
  • The Bully: An unintentional trope on her end to the Hot Sect Yokai during her debut chapter.
  • Brought Down to Normal: It’s implied she downgrades back to a Yuki-Onna when the Glacial Clip is removed.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: When Atsugaru gave her the Glacial Clip that turned her into a Yuki-Onna, she didn’t realize that the boost in power from her evolution caused her to lose control of her powers.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Due to Word of God stating they’re using her appearance from Yo-kai Watch: Shadowside as a base, she certainly earns looks even when possessed by Ryoma’s Eyecon shows that a suit doesn’t make her any less beautiful. The given reason for that was to better match the "hime" moniker that she has, feeling her original design from the base games didn't quite catch that essence correctly.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: When she first became Fubuki-Hime, she couldn’t control her ice powers like she could as a Yuki-Onna, causing her friends that made the Hot Sect to try to avoid her because she kept freezing everything and them without realizing it.
  • An Ice Person: Has ice powers. It’s implied that her usual outfit is made from those powers
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Bonus points for having ice abilities.
  • The Leader: Shares this role with Atsugaru in the developing “Temp Sect”.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name translates as "Blizzard Princess".
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Prefers to go by ‘Fu-chan’ even when she was a Yuki-Onna.
  • Winter Royal Lady: Consider her Japanese name "-hime" and being an S-rank Yo-kai.
  • Yuki-onna: She, or more specifically her character design, fits the traditional yuki-onna mold more than the Yokai Yuki-Onna. Nevertheless, they're both based off yuki-onna. It’s implied that her crown being taken off will turn her back into a Yuki-Onna.
