Main Trio
In General
- Adaptational Skimpiness: The 2019 version has the trio end up naked every time they revert to human form for the sake of realism, though this does leave a Plot Hole as to where they get their extra clothes in contrast to the original versions where they transform with their clothes intact.
- A Form You Are Comfortable With: The whole point of the Trios transformations.
- Alien Blood: The trio bleed green.
- Dark Is Not Evil: More so to the originals looking like vampires while their monster forms look like menacing monsters, while the reboot makes them look normal with the elf-like ears being the only part less normal, but their monster forms are more menacing and corpse-like, but each version is still heroic.
- Foil: The 2019 adaptation has the trio develop different perceptions and motives with regards to the concept of "being human", becoming foils for each other.
- Bem wants to live out a satisfying life and be able end it off in a meaningful death.
- Bela wants to just be a normal girl, which is hindered by her inability to feel pain and taste.
- Belo, being The Cynic in this adaptation, could care less about physically becoming human and simply wants to keep being humanity's Mysterious Protector in the hopes that humans can eventually come to accept him.
- From a Single Cell: Where Bem, Bera and Bero came from.
Bem
Bem
Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi (Japanese), Gabe Kunda (English)
- Adaptational Attractiveness: Bem looks less vampiric and has hair.
- Berserk Button: Never harm or kill his friends. Manstroll learns this after he kills Sonia. Bem utterly destroys him while they both are in their final mutations, all while No Selling all of his attacks.
- Cane Fu: Bem's weapon of choice as a human.
- Cultured Badass: He is more cultured when it comes to his dress code in all versions.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Gives up his own lifeforce at the end of Become Human to revive Sonia after she dies when he defeats the villain. Given how he was told earlier that this was the method for a monster to gain humanity, it could also be that he lives on within her.
- One-Winged Angel: In the movie, he activates this upon seeing Manstroll's own final form impale Sonia through the heart with only his finger. Manstoll doesn't last much longer after that.
- Shock and Awe: Bem has the ability to use electricity in his monster form.

Sonia Summers
Sonia Summers
Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (Japanese), Felecia Angelle (English)
- Action Girl: Being a cop, she naturally fits this role, though her impulsiveness nearly gets her killed on several occasions.
- Alliterative Name: Sonia Summers
- Ambiguously Human: At the end of Become Human, Bem had his soul transferred into her to revive her. Given how this is the very method for a monster to "turn human", and the ending scene shows her eyes now displaying a monster's Hellish Pupils, it's implied she now lives on as a fusion of the two.
- Badass in Distress: Ends up kidnapped by Manstroll and nearly mutated by Recycle in Become Human. She manages to escape by appealing to Recycle's desires to create humanoid monsters as a distraction by using the cop that was kidnapped with her as an example.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: Albeit briefly, this happens to her when Bem cradles her after being stabbed by the film's Big Bad Manstoll. He sacrifices his own spirit so that she can live on in his memory.
- Fair Cop: In the 2019 series.
