In General
- Captain Ersatz: A good portion of the characters in the guild are the antagonists from the series RWBY, with their skill sets altered to fit the world of Fairy Tail, but lacking any of the sympathetic traits their origins had. The fates they have are, by the authors own admission, an attempt at Catharsis Factor for their actions in their home series, veering closer to Author Tract in the process. The only ones that aren't killed, Teakwood and Vanilla, are the ones he doesn't have as major an issue with in the third volume.
- Ember Garnet is blatantly The Heavy Cinder Fall.
- Cain Bloodstone is the Yandere White Fang Leader Adam Taurus.
- Jade Junpier is the orphan-turned-loyal servant Emerald Sustrai.
- Platinum Stardust is the sociopathic assassin Mercury Black.
- James T. Teakwood is the flamboyant Roman Torchwick.
- Vanilla S. Chocolate is the enigmatic Neopolitan.
- Death by Adaptation: With the exception of Teakwood's basis Roman and Cain's basis Adam, their basis' are all still alive and kicking in RWBY. Here, all but Teakwood and Vanilla get killed off.
Cain Bloodstone
A Machina and former guild master of Black Basilisk Fang, an anarchist guild that supposedly fights for the rights of Beast people, but are merely Cain's pawns. He's also Clarice's mentor.
- Adaptive Ability: He can adapt to his enemies techniques once he has analyzed them.
- Cool Mask
- Cool Sword: He has several of them stored in a compartment in his body.
- Enemy Scan: Like Wahl, he can do this.
- Evil Mentor: He tried to manipulate Clarice into doing his bidding, but she knew better and fled from the guild instead.
- Evil Redhead
- This Cannot Be!: When he realizes Atarella is about to blow him to pieces.
Ember Garnet/Ashley Almandine
The current guild master of Cracked Gemstone. Has Heat Magic. She's also the fake Zero that killed councilor Angleshark, starting the arc's plot. After injuring Pyrrha, she suffers the wrath of Alice, who leaves her severely injured but alive, only for Lulu to execute her for killing innocent people and believing he understood him. Morrigan finds her body and realizes she was working with Avatar.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After being brutally injured by Alice, she begs like a bitch to Lelouch and Kallen to help her. Lelouch merely mercy kills her.
- Back from the Dead Her skeleton and soul were recovered by Tartaros and then fused with the body of Ashley Aurora, which also counts as Came Back Strong. And it all means squat against Archer.
- Berserk Button: Badmouthing the founder of Cracked Gemstone, Leyla Lazuli, is a surefire way to anger her.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: On the giving and receiving ends. First she gives one to Pyrrha, only to realize too late that she has incurred the wrath of Alice Amakusa.
- Fusion Dance: Her skeleton and soul were fused with the body of Ashley Aurora from Kraken's Eye, becoming Ashley Almandine.
- Hope Spot: She really thought Lelouch would spare her. He doesn't.
- Identical Stranger: Besides dress and eye color, she's nearly identical to Phoenix Grave's Alice, and according to the author, the similarities are coincidental.
- Killed Off for Real: Not even Morrigan can bring her Back from the Dead. But apparently Tartaros can according to the writer. Chapter 251 shows he wasn't kidding. And she's killed once and for all by Archer in chapter 257.
- Unfinished Business: Her ambition and desire for revenge allowed Tartaros to collect her soul and give her a new body. Unfortunately for her, thanks to Archer she will never have her rematch with Alice.
Jade Junpier
An illusionist with a geass that lets her lock onto anything. She is the guild's infiltration expert. She also apparently enjoys meditation.
- Abnormal Ammo: Her slingshot fires jade colored lacrima that explode.
- Adaptational Villainy: Her basis, Emerald, is the Token Good Teammate of her group in RWBY, who only went along with Cinder's plans out of gratitude for saving her and desperation for a family, before eventually having a Heel–Face Turn following the Heroic Sacrifice of Hazel and being accepted by Oscar and the others. Jade meanwhile is unrepentantly wicked and has no issue with her forces dying, which is what convinces Zero to let the Garou Knights kill her.
- Alliterative Name
- Brats with Slingshots: She uses a slingshot as her weapon.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: She gets pressed to death by a cross between an Iron Maiden and a Venus Fly Trap.
- Master of Illusion: While her magic is second-hand to Schneizel, this is Schneizel we're talking about.
- No-Sell: Her illusions are completely useless against Cosmos' mind.
- What Measure Is a Mook?: Her lack of care for the Mooks she injures or kills is what makes Zero allow the Garou Knights to kill her.
James J. Teakwood
Lelouch's information broker. His calling card has him seal envelopes with a bowler hat sticker. Like Hibiki he uses archive magic.
- Affably Evil: Teak is part of a dark guild, but the first thing he does when meeting Lelouch is greet him with smiles and offer him drinks.
- An Offer You Can't Refuse: Lelouch made him choose between dying to keep his identity secret, or work for the Garou Knights, naturally he chose the latter.
- Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Lelouch makes it clear that he won't kill him for deducing his identity because his information is still useful.
- Curse Cut Short: This happens when he realizes Lelouch has Outgambitted him by using a Loophole Abuse and Exact Words to stop Cracked Gemstone.
- Do Not Call Me "Paul": He prefers to be called Teak, a shortening of his last name.
- Heel–Face Turn: He now works for the Garou Knights along with Vanilla.
- Knowledge Broker: Has information that he buys and sells. However, some of his information is not for sale.
Leyla Lazuli
The founder of Cracked Gemstone. Vanished due to mysterious circumstances and hasn't been seen since. She's also yet another alias of Morrigan ley Faire.
Platinum Stardust
The guild's assassin expert. He uses both knives that he shoots out of his Artificial Limbs and throws normally and he can use Dust Magic: Platinum as a makeshift smokescreen. He can also throw punches and kicks at ridiculous speeds.
- Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. His basis, Mercury, is on the villains side and comes across as The Sociopath, but he's still given his degree of sympathy, namely through his relationship with Emerald, and it's made clear he's not genuinely evil, but more accurately trapped in the cycle of violence and thinks there's nothing else he's good at. Platinum however is lacking any redeeming qualities whatsoever.
- Artificial Limbs: Just like the character he's based on, except instead of shooting shotgun shells, they shoot knives.
- Killed Off for Real: Katherine stabs him in the chest, killing him.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: He flees when he realizes Cracked Gemstone is finished. That doesn't stop Katherine from finding him and killing him.
- Shout-Out: His name references Star Platinum.
Phoebe Amethyst
A powerful user of dark magic, noted by how it's altered her eyes. She has an extreme fascination with Zero.
- But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Invoked and Inverted simultaneously. She believes that this trope is how Zero feels about their first meeting with her, when, in reality, Zero remembers the day they met perfectly.
- Casting a Shadow: Wields powerful dark magic, how powerful though is not yet elaborated upon. Chapter 227 shows she can swallow an entire area in darkness, like Simon.
- Heel–Face Turn: Joins Knightmare Frame at Lelouch's behest.
- Loves My Alter Ego: She is this way towards Lelouch's alter ego, Zero. She even has a Zero body pillow.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: First she's seen wearing a dress with cleavage, later a Chainmail Bikini, and has No Sense of Personal Space when trying to seduce her idol Zero.
- Through His Stomach: Tries to get to Zero by cooking him chicken for lunch. It doesn't work.
- Yandere: Phoebe is obsessed with Zero, to the point of declaring that she wants to marry him and when they do meet she crawls all over him. Lelouch needs to create a fake love interest just to keep her off him.
Sabrina Sapphire
An extremely nice girl that uses a magic called Lightning Spectrum, which lets her use various colors of lightning to produce different effects.
- Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: In chapter 261 after Minerva's death, she gives a very important talk to Suzaku, who nearly let himself be killed by Tartaros just to be with her.
- Heel–Face Turn: Well, one the fandom is not happy with. She survives and joins Sabertooth.
- Token Good Teammate: She sticks around with Cracked Gemstone because she wants the council to realize that the guild isn't made up of all bad people. Lelouch is actually baffled by this because most dark guilds don't employ this trope.
Vanilla S. Chocolate
A mute capable of high level transformation magic surpassing even Mirajane's skill level, barring takeover. She can gain the physical abilities of whatever she transforms into. She also prefers to keep her body type. She's also a skilled sword mage.
- Arranged Marriage: The widow of one. She suffered Domestic Abuse from her husband and killed him when she had enough of his treatment of her. She then ran away and crossed into Fiore's borders. She's been around Ember and Teak since.
- Covert Pervert: Zero reveals to Teak that she draws her own doujinshi, and apparently includes Teak.
- Cute Mute: Vanilla doesn't talk. She uses a Thought Paddle to help communicate which replicates her emotions for her.
- Edible Theme Naming: Considering the S stands for Strawberry, all three of her names are ice-cream flavors...and all three of those flavors make up Neopolitan ice-cream.
- Heel–Face Turn: She is currently a member of the Garou Knights along with Teak.
- Literal-Minded: When Ember says that Vanilla's abilities are good for "escort services", Vanilla transforms into a Stripperific outfit that makes her the definition of an escort girl, complete with her Thought Paddle emitting the Sex O Phone and a Wolf Whistle. Ember quickly corrects Vanilla's error.
- Sword Beam: She's capable of firing light blasts dark energy and non-elemental pink blasts from her sword.
- Sword Cane: More like Sword Parasol, but it still applies.
