These are characters that are important, but unaffiliated with any guild, be they OCs or canon characters.

    Acnologia
The Black Dragon of Apocalypse and the strongest living being in the modern era. A former Dragon Slayer who turned into a dragon for overusing his magic. It is also rumored he was the lover of Morrigan ley Fair, although it is currently unconfirmed.
  • Conflict Killer: His arrival during chapter 235 snaps the last remaining combatants out of VV's Mass Hysteria.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Like in canon he's rarely involved with the current story, but his existence and actions are the main drive of many characters.
  • Hell Is That Noise: His roar is this to anyone who has survived an encounter with him.
  • Hero Killer: He would have killed Erza at the end of chapter 235 if it wasn't because of Irene's intervention and he sunk all of Tenrou Island at the end of the arc with Fairy Tail still on it.
  • The Juggernaut: Like in canon, there's hardly anything that can stop him. This includes Roxanne. While she wasn't at full power at the time, it's still up in the air if that would've made a difference at all.
  • No-Sell: Airy's charms might as well be used on a wall than on him.
  • Wild Card: As many reviews point out, the one thing you can never expect is when this bastard will rear his ugly head.
    Audrey Belladona
A recurring, relatively minor character in the story whose role has changed over the course of time. She starts as a one-shot antagonist as a member of Sabertooth and seems to go through phases of Character Development with each new appearance.

    Basil Fernandes
A baby that CC is taking care for a "Friend" until she is ready to be a mother. He is the child of Margaret Fernandes and by Word of God Bluenote Stinger

    Irene Belserion
Canonically, Irene is a member of the Spriggan 12, the strongest soldiers under Zeref's command. She is also, the legendary Queen of the Dragons a case of Really 700 Years Old, Erza's mother and the very first dragon slayer. Here, her first appearance has her Showing up out of nowhere in dragon form, resolving the major conflict of the Guild War arc by killing VV, healing Erza's injuries and flying off. This makes it clear she's a very different person from the canon Irene, given the canon version wasn't exactly mom of the year. Makes one wonder what exactly is her deal in this universe, especially since Erza's parents are supposed to be dead a la Morianna.

She's the founder and guild master of the Scarlet Dragons.

  • One-Hit Kill: During her battle, if you can even call it that, with VV she only attacks him once while he unleashes everything he has on her, but it does NOTHING! Said single strike, completely turns VV into PASTE!
  • Big Damn Heroes: Irene's first appearance has her showing up from out of nowhere in the climax of the guild war arc and then injuring Acnologia and murdering the ever loving crap out of VV.
  • Deus ex machina: In-universe example. While we are aware where Irene came from thanks to canon, here, her first appearance just has her show up as completely randomly as Acnologia. Even the characters are wondering where the hell did that white dragon come from?
  • Establishing Character Moment: Her first appearance has her showing up during everything gone to hell in a hand basket unannounced, healing Erza's injuries out of life threatening danger, and then proceeding to completely restore the war torn landscape of Era before facing off against Acnologia and VV. This is something canon Irene would never, ever do. So something's up.
  • I Have No Son!: INVERTED! Irene, for some reason, much in contrast to canon feels that she isn't worthy of being called Erza's mother. In fact, much like in canon, it's implied she didn't even know Erza was alive all this time. When Erza rushes past her while she's invisible, Irene contemplates making herself visible and telling Erza the truth, but decides against it, finding it would be too burdensome on Erza, but hopes that their paths may cross again in the future.
  • Mama Bear: A distinct change from canon. Not only does she fully heal Erza's injuries as the first thing she does when she appears, she then injures Acnologia and roars at him loudly to signify the price one pays for hurting her daughter.
  • Mysterious Protector: Her first appearance sets her up as this to all those affected by the guild war since she basically shows up when things are dire, fixes everything and leaves. No explanation was given for why she was here, though if you put the pieces together, it's possible to make an educated guess, which will only leave with more questions than answers.
    • Her whole guild seems to give this impression given they're a legally registered guild completely shrouded in myth and no one has ever seen them supposedly.
  • No Name Given: The narrative never refers to her by name in her appearance in chapter 236. It's only confirmed to be her in the author's notes because the writer didn't want to have to answer the question "Was that Irene?" fifty billion times by reader's comments.
    • Chapter 237 rectifies this when she helps Natsu get back on his feet, albeit while he's unconscious and while she's invisible, so he can help save Kallen.
  • Not Quite Dead: If nothing else, Morianna didn't properly kill Irene or may have killed someone she thought was Erza's mother, but wasn't. No explanation has been given. At the very least, Irene believed Erza to be dead so whatever happened, she at least knows what happened to Rosemary Village.
  • Weredragon: Her first appearance is only in her dragon form.
  • Retcon: In the Sindel arc, it was established that Erza's parents are dead, but Irene wasn't a character in the canon universe at the time. The context of the proper chapter hasn't been changed, so the fact that Irene is alive and well means some serious explanations (which haven't been given yet) will be needed.

    Mordred/Future Lelouch
A villain from the future that is set up to be the Arc Villain to replace Future Rogue. According to the writer, Mordred makes Future Rogue look like a sweet, cuddly bunny by comparison. He is Future Lelouch from a timeline where Lelouch has lost everything and has nothing left to lose. He is essentially Lelouch with his Zero Requiem mentality .
  • All Your Powers Combined: He has all of the magic of every dragon slayer in Fiore. EXCEPT ONE!
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: He wants Setsuna to grow up to be a good girl and not fall into darkness the way he did just like her mother, Erza.
  • Dark Is Evil: Very much so.
  • Demonic Possession: Mordred is actually the name of the demon harbored inside Lelouch's body that he obtained from copying Kallen's powers with Skeleton Key and it nudged Lelouch in the direction to do more and more reprehensible acts, believing that that was its purpose. By the time of the climax of the arc, Mordred has completely possessed Lelouch.
  • Dying as Yourself: With Mordred purged from him, Lelouch is regretful for everything he did and apologizes to the people he cares about with his dying breaths.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Mordred has trouble hurting parents or their kids, especially mothers or expectant mothers. With good reason.
  • The Faceless: We are given no description of Mordred's face until The Reveal other than the scar on his cheek by comparison to the mysterious woman helping him who is described as having dark hair. Likely because purple eyes and black hair would be a dead giveaway to his identity.
  • Freudian Excuse: There are two of these but for two different characters. The first half of Mordred, Lelouch, lost all three girls he loved, Shirley, Erza and, finally, the most damaging loss Kallen. These three losses left Lelouch dead on the inside and vulnerable to the enemy within. Finally, the aforementioned enemy within Mordred has one, Mordred was a demon born out of Lelouch accidentally taking Kallen's soul and grew and developed within Lelouch's broken soul. Unlike Kallen and Mirajane's demon sides, Mordred had nothing but bitterness and self loathing to develop from and Lelouch was too broken to resist the manipulations of Mordred who was just following his base nature or show him the worth of human nature like: Kallen with Guren and Mira with Miraelzabella were able too.
  • The Lost Lenore: His motivations for his actions are driven by not just one, but three of these.
  • Healing Factor: He has Kallen's.
  • I Shall Taunt You: When he takes on Gajeel and Laxus he starts picking away at them verbally just as much as he is physically.
  • In the Hood: So that the reader does not know his face. Lelouch is easy to identify.
  • No Body Left Behind: Disintegrates into dust during his death scene.
  • Obviously Evil: The author didn't even try to hide the fact that Mordred was up to no good during his introduction sequence, calling him the villain at the end of the chapter and outright naming him.
  • Scars are Forever: Has a glowing purple scar on his left cheek underneath his hood. Courtesy of Future Natsu.
  • That Man Is Dead: Done twice. First is when Lelouch himself acknowledges that he doesn't deserve to be considered who he is anymore and the second time is when the real deal surfaces and reintroduces himself.
  • Tragic Villain: Lost his wife, lost his second-wife-to-be, lost his Morality Pet prior to both and then when he wanted to be left alone, Wendy pops up and inadvertently sends him over the edge. Then, on top of that, when he goes fullblown Well-Intentioned Extremist, only Atarella and Alice are willing to toss in their aid, forcing him to fight everyone else. And while he acts like a total bastard, there are cracks seen in his villainous facade, indicating there's more going on with his plan than what's on the surface.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Intends to kill all of the dragon slayers of the past and of his time in order to wipe out Acnologia from all involved timelines. He's even willing to kill bystanders if he thinks it will help isolate his targets.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: He's mentally damaged due to a case of Humiliation Conga and then some and he's fallen into Well-Intentioned Extremist territory, which involves killing anyone he deems necessary in order to kill Acnologia and is currently in the process of massacring the X791 architecture of Crocus.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Claims so. Although considering he has a daughter of his own...

    Morrigan Ley Fair/ Dragneel
A powerful mage from Zeref's time. She is considered to be something of a goddess by the people of Fiore. She is also Zeref's older twin sister. As of chapter 103, she is also the guild master of Grimoire Heart, which she renames Goddess Wing.
She is also the true identity of Knightmare Frame's CC. See her entry on that page for more information.

    Nirix
A demon that was sealed underground far beneath the Abyss Palace. It was previously defeated and sealed inside its book by the combined might of Makarov, Marianne and Charles. In the aptly named Nirix arc, it escapes from its prison and attacks the castle.
  • Came Back Strong: His curse lets him keep growing forever stronger whenever he's critically injured or feels he's being outclassed. The only surefire way to put him down, apparently, is to completely disintegrate him.
  • Dark Is Evil: His body is always wreathed in shadow and he has glowing red eyes.
  • Eye Beams: Gains these after enough transformations
  • Gone Horribly Right: He is an experiment of Zeref's designed to create the ultimate killing machine.
  • Hero Killer: Emphasis on kill he kills Rufus. And on top of that he defeats almost all of the present cast in the battle against him.
  • Implacable Man: Takes on Rogue, Sting, Kallen and others without breaking a sweat and breaks Suzaku's leg.
  • Logical Weakness: His curse gives him near endless stamina, with emphasis on near, as Lelouch deduces that he needs a set amount of remaining stamina to evolve, once he reaches his limit Suzaku gains the upper hand.
  • Mook Maker: He can constantly spit out familiars that follow the Conservation of Ninjutsu in that the less of them that there are, the more powerful they are.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: A combo of this is how several heroes that face him meet their definitive retirement from the fight against him.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: AND HOW!
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: They're his natural color.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: And now it's back for revenge
  • Silent Antagonist: Aside from roaring and laughing, Nirix doesn't talk. According to Word of God, this was a design choice.

    Princess Hisui E. Fiore
The sole heir to the Fiore throne. She is a celestial spirit mage
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon, Hisui doesn't do anything other than be The Chessmaster during the Grand Magic Games arc and distract Zircoin long enough for him to disappear. Here, she can re-quip her celestial spirit keys and can fight all on her own.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Lampshaded by Rolo when he fails to protect her and Hisui gets herself out of a jam.
  • Canis Major: Quite literally, since her strongest spirit is the celestial wolf Sirius.
  • Damsel in Distress: She's kidnapped by a revived Ushiora at the start of the Tartaros arc. Not that she didn't present a decent fight before being captured.
  • The High Queen: In Mordred's timeline she became one after ascending to the throne.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: And apparently she's found one in Hibiki.

    Priscilla Starkwing
Nicknamed The Lady of the Forge, she's considered the best weapon smith in all of Fiore, and Rakshata and Lloyd's mentor. She also forged Archenemy for Kagura. Lelouch once helped her and earned him a favor from her. That favor ended up being fixing Erza's broken armors and she even agreed to make one of her own design for free. She uses a magic similar to Trace called Blueprint, that allows her create objects, but while Trace mages need to create their weapons from scratch every time, she can store her designs and modify them at will as long as she knows how they work.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She's not good with people, only takes jobs she wants when she wants and has her flashes of inspiration. The quality of her work is unparalleled.
  • Older Than They Look: She's in her fifties but besides some wrinkles she looks Cornelia's age.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: Its in her moniker.

    Ratatosk, the King of Demons
King of the demonic world. Kalina's father. Ratatosk believes that demons and humans are capable of getting along in harmony with one another. Kasumi and Kalina's lives are proof enough of that. He takes command of all the demons that don't want to be used as Zeref's tools against mankind, some of which were originally Zeref's creations.
  • Badass Adorable: His Etherious form is a giant, mutated squirrel.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: No opponent that has faced him has fared very well.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Ratatosk started out as a stuttering weakling under the servitude of the previous demon lord, Demon Queen Helga. Needless to say, things didn't stay that way given what we know of him now.
  • Interface Screw: How his Chaos Curse works. It's essentially a weaponized version of chaos theory.
  • Just Eat Him: How he disposes of Ein Zen, the Big Bad of the Journey to Hell arc.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Not all demons are Zeref's creations hellbent on destroying humanity. Ratatosk keeps the rest of the species in the demonic realm since a mana rich environment makes demons crazy.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Downplayed. Ratatosk is ungodly powerful able to stand on par with Acnologia, but he's closer to a neutral party, if not an outright good guy, than any type of antagonist.
    • Played straight in his backstory given his eyes used to be green. Their switch was a result of Ratatosk hitting his Rage Breaking Point when his first love, the demon queen Helga was grievously injured by the demons rebelling against her.
  • Second Love: He sees Kasumi as his closest spouse since Helga.
  • Secret-Keeper: Of the fact that Lelouch is Zero. Understandable since even if he wanted to tell anyone, who could he tell? Kasumi aside of course. The very idea amuses him.
  • The Older Immortal: While Zeref is hundreds of years old, he's been alive for over 10,000 years.
  • World's Strongest Man: Strongest demon we have seen by miles emphasis on seen. He is so strong he could kill Mira going all out in one punch, this is justified because the way the demon realm works he couldn't rule them if he wasn't the strongest demon in existence. Well, strongest in the demon realm

    Roxanne
The so-called Strongest Mage in Seven for over 40 years running. She went missing almost 25 years ago after crossing the Fiore/Seven border. No one's heard from her since. Chapter 250 reveals she was found and revived by Tartaros, becoming a member of Keyes Zombie Squad so see that page for more details.

    Rushio Seam
Granddaughter of former chairman Crawford Seam. You know, the dirtbag that date rape drugged both Erza and Mirajane in the Tartarus arc? Well, Rushio couldn't be a more different character. At first. Turns out Rushio is a sociopath that thinks of other humans as little more than toys for her to play with and break in her torture chamber and she was planning on making an example of Natsu until Zero put a stop to that.

    Zeref Dragneel
The legendary Dark Wizard himself, who's been secretly wandering the world for 400 years. He's Morrigan's twin brother and Natsu/E.N.D.'s older brother.

On Tenrou Island Gray, Ultear, Juvia and Meredy discover he's been placed under Morrigan's Geass. Incredibly, he turns out to be Mavis Vermillion's husband, which makes him Charles and V.V.'s grandfather and Lelouch and Nunnally's great-grandfather.

  • Affably Evil: Like in canon, he's mostly a nice guy, as long as you don't anger him.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: He begs on his knees to Sindel to help him save Mavis and defeat Morrigan, even if it means standing against Fairy Tail.
  • Berserk Button: Don't do anything to his family or you'll feel his wrath, and his death magic. He nearly killed Ultear when he thought she was responsible for the corruption of the Tenrou Tree, and would have killed Hades like in canon if it wasn't because of Morrigan's intervention.
  • The Emperor: Like in canon he's the mysterious Emperor Spriggan of the Alvarez Empire.
