BX- 02 Blodia

Voiced By: Tōru Furuya (Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness) (Japanese ver.)
A traditionally Japanese Soldier who pilots a Variant Armor mecha like his father, Ken Saotome. After hearing about what happened to his father in a colony accident one year ago, he leaves from a space colony to Earth to hone his skills as a VA Pilot at the VA Battle Circuit and to find answers as to what exactly happened to his father. He pilots the BX-02 Blodia. Blodia also has two other character variations with different parts: BX-04S Swordsman and BX-07R Riot.
  • Attack Drone: Blodia uses its Bit weapon the "Assault Satellite" to fire laser beams at long range. It can be used as a neutral, anti-air, and low hitting projectile move.
  • Breakout Character: Better known for appearing in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and, to a much lesser extent, Tech Romancer while none of the other Cyberbots characters manage to appear in anything else.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Blodia specializes in getting up close to the opponent and dishing out damage to them. It has plenty of good moves for pressuring and has some long ranged moves to hit afar. Its character variants, Swordsman and Riot, also focus heavily on fighting in close range, albeit with Swordsman having faster attacks and Riot having the most damage output. In other Capcom Vs games, Jin Saotome also counts as this because his moves were created to fight in close range.
  • Finishing Move: Blodia's main Cyber-EX Move is called "Planet Smasher", a super move in which Blodia charges at the opponent VA mecha with a barrage of combination attacks before finishing the move with a more powerful Full Metal Charge. Blodia's other Cyber-Ex Move is called "Giga Burst", where Blodia unleashes a blast of energy around itself and knocks opponents back if they get too close.
  • Gatling Good: Riot wields the "Vulcan Cannon", a large shoulder gatling gun that has a quick multi-hitting fire rate for long range. It was originally used with Blodia in Armored Warriors and in Capcom Vs games, this same weapon is attached to Blodia once again for Jin's full screen super move.
  • Hot-Blooded: In Cyberbots, Jin is generally more toned down, but he certainly has a strongly passionate personality shown in the story. In Capcom Vs games, it goes up to eleven.
  • Jack of All Stats: Blodia is a balanced Shotoclone that has a projectile (Assault Satellite), a Shoryuken (Full Metal Charge), and a hybrid Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs Hurricane Kick (Gatling Rod). Additional moves of Blodia include a command grab (Break Shaft) and a pursuit move (Needle Press).
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Jin Saotome is shown to wield one in supplemental material where everyone is going up against a rampaging Devilotte in her Super-8 VA. And in his Capcom Vs appearances, he pulls out the same sword for his win pose.
  • Laser Blade: Just like in Armored Warriors, Blodia creates a large blue beam blade for its jumping high attack. And its character variant, BX-04S Swordsman, uses a beam saber installed in its arm and uses it for slashing special attacks.
  • Legacy Character: He is one to Jeff Perkins from Armored Warriors since Jin currently inherits the Bloda VA mecha.
  • Leitmotif: His theme in Cyberbots is "Megalopolis", which is also a remix of the Armored Warriors stage 1 theme, "Deserted Town". The rest of his themes in Tech Romancer and Capcom Vs games are originally composed exclusively for those games.
  • Megaton Punch: Jin's super move in Capcom Vs games is the "Blodia Punch", where he summons Blodia to punch the opponent in one blow. Jin also does a shorter version for his air throws. While highly dangerous to human-sized opponents, it probably does light damage to mecha-sized opponents.
  • Nice Guy: Hot-blooded tendencies aside, he's a good guy who only wishes to find the truth about his father. He respects Gawain as his close family friend and mentor, he helps save innocent civilians in Gawaine's story ending, and he also saves Arieta from her uncontrolled VA mecha during his story. He even forgives Shade when he finds out Shade tried to save Jin's father from G.O.D. and honors him after his Heroic Sacrifice in his ending. And when he fights, he only does it to protect himself and to stop evil doers.
  • Pile Bunker: Blodia's arm weapon, the "Power Knuckle", has twin pilebunkers installed into it. This weapon allows Blodia to thrust into enemy opponents to do command grab called "Break Shaft" or to initiate a neutral (light)/forwards motion (heavy) Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs move called "Gatling Rod".
  • Power Fist: Blodia's character variant, BX-07R Riot, uses a giant rocket powered mechanical fist called the "Rocket Arm" for damaging punches and it even has a large piston mechanic that extends the large fist forwards.
  • Primary-Color Champion: Blodia is colored in red and is piloted by the main character Jin Saotome. Alternatively, its second player color is in blue.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: His outfit has a long flowing scarf that makes him appear more heroic.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Jin Saotome is a notable homage to Gundam. He's voiced by Amuro Ray's actor and personality-wise, he's very hot-blooded and an honorable fighter like Domon Kasshu.
    • Appearance-wise, he was created as a homage to Kakugo Hagakure.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Inverted with Jin; his mecha (Blodia) has spikes and his outfit has spikes on his shoulder pads, but he's a good guy.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Well, it really depends on the situation. From his story, Mary Miyabi and Devilotte attack him first, leading him to fight back. For Arieta, the VA mecha she was in lost control, so Jin had no other option but to try and break her out of the VA mecha to save her.

    Princess Devilotte

Princess Devilotte (Variant Armor: S-008 SUPER-8)

Princess of a space pirate empire. Devilotte is a Spoiled Brat who hopes to one day rule the galaxy. She is uninvolved in the conflict of the story, but attacks other fighters to try and defeat them so she can steal their VAs. She has two lackeys, Dave and Xavier. She also has a crush on Gawaine.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She seems to genuinely care for Dave and Xavier, who care about her in return, despite often getting mad at them.
  • Even Bad Women Love Their Mamas: She loved her father, and was saddened when she accidentally killed him.
  • Evil Virtues: She genuinely respects those who fight with determination to reach their goals, even if they are heroic.
  • Harmless Villain: Zigzagged. She actually is a competent individual and can be a pretty decent opponent, but for all her self-proclaimed evilness, she doesn't actually do anything that evil. Her crimes in the story amount to trying to steal the other characters' VAs to add to her collection. For the most part, she doesn't actually seem interested in harming anyone. Couple this with her Spoiled Brat personality, and she's little more than a thief and an extreme annoyance at worst.
  • Laughably Evil: While she tries to be a serious villain (and is a skilled combatant and pilot), she is so bratty and temperamental that it's funny.
  • Patricide: Prior to the events of the story, she got into an argument with her father since she wanted to marry Gawaine despite him being a hero, which her father disapproved of (nevermind the fact that he's several decades older than her and isn't even interested in her to begin with, meaning it would never work out in the first place). They got into a fight using their VAs and she accidentally killed him. Before dying, he punished her by only giving her 300 yen until she could inherit the empire. She was clearly not happy about either of these things.
  • Precocious Crush: She is 13 and has a crush on an elderly man.
  • Space Pirates: She's the daughter of an emperor who runs a space pirate organization.
