The Cosmic Culture Club
Eiji Asuka aka Albatro Null
- Voiced by: Kazuhiko Inoue
- Adrenaline Makeover: Can be said to have had one after the Time Skip, as he wears more tough guy-like clothes by that point.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He isn't super tall but Anna is so small that they fip-flop between this and One Head Taller, and sometimes he's drawn so tall that she barely reaches his chest.
- Martial Pacifist: He doesn't exactly like to fight, but does when needed since he doesn't want anyone to get hurt if he can help it.
- Ship Tease: Him and Anna have quite a bit of it. They finally get hitched in the third OAV.
- Thou Shall Not Kill: The guy really, really hates killing, so he tries to go to quite the lengths to not do so in battle and REI's presence really doesn't help.
Anna Stephanie
- Voiced by: Hiroko Emori
- Action Survivor: Does her best to become this and succeeds.
- Adrenaline Makeover: As the time passes she lets her hair down from a single side pigtail to a Motherly Side Plait and, instead of her uniform, she wears a slightly adorned red minidress with Proper Tights with a Skirt.
- All Loving Heroine: The closest to this in the group, as she's the most innocent and loving of them.
- The Baby of the Bunch: At age 14, she's barely a teenager.
- The Cutie: The youngest and gentlest of the club, and naturally she "pays" for it dearly.
- Team Mom: Is more or less this to the Earth Resistence.
David Rutherford
- Voiced by: Hideyuki Umezu
- Anguished Declaration of Love: Gives one to Simone, around halfway the series.
- Battle Couple: He and Simone evolve into this.
- Eagle Land: Of the sympathetic kind
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A blond who's very rough around the edges, but a good intentioned man over all.
- Hot-Blooded: Definitely.
- The Lancer: To Eiji, once he stops blaming him for his best friend Juno's death.
- Shipper with an Agenda: Supports Anna's crush on Eiji because he crushes on Eiji's other prospect girlfriend Simone.
Roanne Dietrich
- Voiced by: Katsumi Toriumi
- Badass Bookworm - The Smart Guy: He's clearly the brains of the group.
- Important Haircut: Starts slicking up his blue hair as he pulls his The Mole act. When done, he returns to his normal hairstyle.
Simonne Reflane
- Voiced by: Fumi Hirano
- Action Girl: She's a rather competent pilot
- Adrenaline Makeover: After the Time Skip she cuts her Boyish Short Hair even shorter, stops using a pink hair stripe and puts on a blue and skin-tight Spy Cat Suit.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: She at first doesn't want to do a lot with the fight against Grados, but she develops feelings for Eiji and sees more of the conflict and changes her mind.
- The Ojou: Of the Ice Queen variety.
Arthur Cummings Jr.
- Voiced by: Yuji Shikamata
Dr. Elizabeth Clabery
- Voiced by: Keiko Toda
- Mr. Fixit - Wrench Wench: She's a pretty good mechanic, in addition to her Team Mom role. However, as the war continues, she has a brief but huge Heroic BSoD and begins destroying the weapons she's made. Thankfully, she recovers.
- Team Mom: As the only surviving adult in the Cosmic Culture Club, she does her best to take care of them.
Gradosian Empire
Admiral Gresco
- Voiced by: Takeshi Watabe
- Bald of Evil: The Big Bad of this series has no hair on his bald head.
- Non-Action Big Bad: Gresco isn't the one who fights, instead sending out his son Ruu-Kain.
Ruu-Kain
- Ace Pilot: Absolutely.
- Dragon-in-Chief: His father Gresco is the Big Bad, but Ruu-Kain is far more active and dangerous.
- Large and in Charge: He's the de facto leader of the Gradosian invasion forces, and he's tall and bulky enough to scare a pro wrestler.
- Might Makes Right: His philosophy in a nutshell.
- Noble Demon: He might be a racist, Social Darwinist prick, but he does have a sense of honor and refuses to fight dirty.
- Smug Super: He's got more than enough skills and power to back up his boastings, and then some.
- Social Darwinist: A Type 5, believing that struggles and hardships make the individual and the society.
Gosterro
- Voiced by: Masashi Hirose
- Ax-Crazy: Gosterro barely functions above the level of a rabid, incontrollable beast.
- Bad Boss: Very willing and eager to kill his own men for the most minor of transgressions or even just because they're there.
- Blood Knight: Killing is pretty much the only thing he cares about.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder
- Evil Laugh: All the time.
- Flat Character: He enjoys killing, and that's all there really is to him.
- Jerkass: A major understatement.
- Kick the Dog: He starts by murdering defenseless civilians, and only gets worse from there.
- Sociopathic Soldier: A definite Type 2, who joined the war effort so he could kill without consequences.
Karla Eigel
- Voiced by: Run Sasaki
Amos Galle
- Voiced by: Hideyuki Hori
Others
Rei
- Voiced by: Eriko Hara
Fouron
- Voiced by: Eriko Hara
Julia Asuka aka Albatro Mille
- Voiced by: Mari Yoko
- Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She's tall, beautiful, charismatic and serious.
- All-Loving Heroine: Specially after the Time Skip. Towards the end of the OAV, she embodies this so much that she manages to make Ru-Kain lay down his weapons and return to Grados with her, so they can start working for peace there.
- Dude Magnet: With her Aloof Dark-Haired Girl appeal, she catches the eye of many guys. Including Gosterro.
