    Main Characters

The Noob

Voiced By Brent "Neebs" Triplett

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noob.png
I got little birdy legs, birdy legs, little birdy legs...

The Noob is one of the four main characters. He is characterized by his total lack of competence, ability, intelligence and awareness while playing battlefield, his complete lack of introspection and his deeply aggravating nature. The Noob serves as a conglomeration of everything wrong with Battlefield players.

  • Asshole Victim: On the rare occasions where he gets his comeuppance and has no one to blame but himself like in "Left Behind" and "We're Leaving".
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: The Noob can barely concieve of any move or strategy other than "RUN FORWARD AND SHOOT!"
  • A-Team Firing: Any time the Noob tries to shoot anything. Comes to a head in the episode "Noob Fight".
  • Achievements in Ignorance: Subverted: The Noob's incompetence translates to a poor playing experience. He is not aware of this.
  • Blatant Lies: In Mine Games.
    Recon: "These aren't your mines?"
    Noob: "No."
    Noob: *Throws down another mine*
Recon: "He just threw one down!"
    Noob: "Yeah, Accidentally!"
  • Bullying a Dragon: Noob seems to be under the impression that it's a good idea to make fun of a guy in an attack chopper because he isn't laying down enough "impressive fire".
  • Car Fu: Happens to, and because of, the Noob, quite a bit.
    • In "Vehicle Spawn", he employs the infamous "Jihad Jeep" (a Jeep covered in C4 charges), to take out a tank.
    • In "They Ruined Battlefield", he gets hit by a jet after an ill-fated recreation of the Rendezook video.
    • In "Levelcap", he accidentally runs over Levelcap with a Growler ITV.
    • In "Air Superiority", he Jet Rams, which is exactly what it sounds like.
    • In "Teamspeak", he, along with Engineer and Recon, gets a helicopter dropped on him after he taunts the pilot.
  • Catchphrase:
    • "PRA-MOTED!!!"
      • This bites him in the butt when Colonel realises who bombed his bird back then.
    • Also "I got little birdy legs, birdy legs, little birdy legs..."
    • And "Dip, dip, potato chip!"
  • The Ditz
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Only known as The Noob.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Not even the Noob likes Call of Duty.
  • Fatal Flaw: Has many...MANY flaws, but these tend to come up multiple times
    • The Noob has a tendancy to over-or-underestimate the ammount of realism in the game. Interestingly, it seems to be inverse to the combat aspect of the game. For example, The Noob seems to believe that a battlefield player can OD on medpacks.
    • In a sense, as this prevents the BFFs from accomplishing non-combat goals, The Noob is convinced that everybody is as married to the Attack! Attack! Attack! strategy as he is.
  • Flanderization: The Noob has rapidly gone from being merely inexperienced at the game to astoundingly stupid and disconnected with reality. Not that this hasn't gone unnoticed...
Engineer: I feel like he's actually getting worse!
  • The Fool: The Noob has some impressive achievements under his belt. He is the only character to kill the Colonel, and killed nine enemies at once in "Camping".
  • Hidden Depths: Noob has at least some degree of skill in entomology and art appreciation.
    • It is also implied that Noob has the best internet connection of the squad as he's never experienced lag in "Team Bagging".
  • Hypocritical Humor: Noob routinely insults other players by calling them noobs.
  • Insufferable Imbecile: Rude, selfish, argumentative, and very stupid.
  • It's All About Me: Noob's just concerned with having fun, no matter how much it inconveniences his teammates.
  • Just a Stupid Accent: Anyone on the Russian team simply adopts a fairly ludicrous Fake Russian accent, though Noob's stands out as particularly awful.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: The Noob is capable of breathtaking arrogance for someone as appalling at Battlefield as he is.
  • The Load: You have no idea. It's even implied that he alone is what's stopping the group from being successful, as in "Left Behind", they start winning and actually having fun without him as he's stranded at base.
  • Mistaken for Racist: Noob, in "Recon C4", says he'd "expect [stealing my stuff] from Medic, but from you (the Recon)?!" The Medic, who is black, reacts indignantly, and the following conversation ensues:
Medic: ...the fuck is that supposed to mean?!
Noob: You're always stealing my kills with your overpowered rifles!
Medic: ...oh, oh I though you were... never mind.
  • Noob: The Noobs default state. He also shows shades of Scrub.
  • The Neidermeyer: His brief stint as the team's commander in the episode, "Commander".
  • Never My Fault: Vehicle crashes? It was buggy. Friendly fire kills his teammates? The game should've explained those rules to him better. Game is lost because his squad ran out of the ammo he's supposed to be supplying? Maybe they're just not good at playing Battlefield.
  • Read the Freaking Manual: The Noob clearly never has.
  • Rummage Fail: While attempting to recreate the famous Rendezook video, the Noob pulls an EOD robot instead of his launcher.
  • The Sociopath: Has a complete Lack of Empathy, is laser-focused on self-satisfaction, and has enough passable wit to make snide, egotistical jabs towards everyone around him.
  • Sore Loser: Being repeatedly and consecutively killed is enough to put him in a foul mood, piercing his otherwise irreverent attitude towards matches.
  • Southern-Fried Private
  • Spanner in the Works: The Noob, frequently to his own teammates, but he does get a couple moments of glory.
  • The Unreveal: In "Livestreaming", the Noob is asked by his streamers if he could do a facecam, which he gladly obliges.... to footage of his exact same, animated self waving though his webcam.

The Medic

Once you med-pack you never go back

Voiced By Nate "Doraleous" Panning

The Medic is one of the Four main characters. He is defined by his easy going nature, his futile attempts to talk to the Noob and his role as the straight man of the group.

Recon

Voiced By Tony "Thick 44" Schnur

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/recon.png

Recon is one of the four main characters of Battlefield. Compared to the other characters, he is quite flat, mainly being used in setups where a Recon Class is needed.

  • The Ace: He is mostly the designated pilot of the group. To exemplify, once he switches with Neebs who was piloting a Venom, the chopper goes from "lopsided on the ground" to "flying upright".
  • Butt-Monkey: Spends most of "S.U.A.V." getting soaked with an ever increasing amount of Noob's blood.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Only known as Recon. Or Professional.
  • Flat Character: Essentially just another Medic. He does back up as the Only Sane Man on occasions, such as when the Medic falls into the same overpowered-weapon-induced frenzy the Engineer has.
  • Only Sane Man: He is often this, whenever everyone else gets up to their various antics.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": The only subversion of the main characters. Sometimes called "The Sniper" for this reason.

The Engineer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/engineer13.png
I am a god, holding the RPGs of justice!!!

Voiced By: Jon "Appsro" Etheridge

The Engineer is one of the four main characters. The Engineer is defined by his short temper, his love of OP weaponry and his intense dislike of the Noob's antics.

  • Angrish: A common occurrence.
The Engineer— Who the... Why the hell... the fuck!
  • A God Am I: Whenever the engineer gets an OP weapon. See quote above.
  • Audience Surrogate: Along with the Medic for the Noob's stupidity.
  • The Corruption: OP weapons have a... negative effect on him.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Common expression in front of the Noob and Simon.
    • From "Mine Games":
Engineer: *Simon is shooting the Engineer and Recon without realizing they're in his squad* "Yeah, keep shooting, dickhead."
  • Drunk on the Dark Side: See The Corruption above.
  • Dirty Old Man: He flirts with the Female Medic, despite having a wife and daughter.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: Is often the first to get angry with the noob.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Only known as Engineer. Goes by his class name, 'Mechanic' in BF: Hardline.
  • Four-Man Band: He is the Pervert.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: He is Choleric.
  • God Modder: Has some aspects of this. The Engineer has no issue with using overpowered weaponry, and along with the Noob enjoyed the fish-in-the-bucket approach to playing. But he is still outraged by the Power Abuse on the Admin, and hates the Noob's Scrubby ways.
  • I Call Her "Vera": Names his Stinger the "Stingerweiner".
  • Jerkass: Engineer can be quite the douche if he's got his hands on a power weapon.
  • Mirror Character: To the Noob. Both have a penchant for adopting the strategies and methods that BF players despise. They both also have a penchant for refusing to budge from their ideas, no matter how awful an idea it might be. And as of BF: Hardline, he's played with Noob and Simon on a Boosting/Stat Padding server, as well as letting Noob convince him to get into a fight over the respawn beacon equipment being given to the Mechanic/Engineer class, rather than Recon/Specialists as in previous game, in a Call-Back to "Recon C4". The most major difference, is that when Engineer isn't on one of his power trips, he's at least willing to live in reality of a situation, and can actually play without the use of OP weapons.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: It doesn't take much to set him off on a profanity-laden spiel.

    Secondary Characters

The Colonel

Voiced by: Bryan "Simon" Mahoney

The Colonel is one of the secondary characters. He is characterized by his tremendous adeptness at Battlefield, his game-breaking abilities and his total lack of life outside of battlefield.

  • Badass Bandolier: The Colonel plays as support class, which comes with a bandolier. So do the Noob and Simon, but they are decidedly not badass.
  • Badass Boast: Colonel gets a few.
    • From Little Bird Battle:
    Colonel: I AM THE BATTLEFIELD!
    • From Stingers:
Colonel: Ammo's for nancies. *pulls out knife and proceeds to destroy a helicopter*
  • Basement-Dweller: The Colonel insists that being one of these is the only way to be as good as he is at Battlefield.
  • Colonel Badass: It's in the name.
  • The Dreaded: In TUGS, his mere presence causes enemies who outnumber him eight to one (including a vehicle and a giant spider) to flee for their lives.
  • Dynamic Entry: Has a habit of appearing either by parachute (usually after knifing an aerial vehicle), or just landing onto things out of the blue.
  • Hero of Another Story: One can only wonder of the games he played before meeting the BFF crew, if his claims of never dying before are true.
  • Irony: One of the best skilled character in the series has Simon's voice actor.
  • Jar Potty: The Colonel uses a "shitbucket," which is Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Noodle Incident: The Colonel's history and conflict with General Zhao, briefly mentioned in Commander Online.
  • Nothing Personal: If he's on a team, he will do everything in his power to help them win, but unlike the protagonists, he's fine being randomly assigned a side, so they occasionally find themselves being on the wrong end of his expert violence. Contrast this with other players like the Noob and the Closet Colonel who selfishly switch sides when it suits them.
  • Oh, Crap!: Many instances, especially when it involves being on the wrong side of the Colonel's wrath.
  • Reality Warper: The Colonel is this in-game, apparently his shitbucket lifestyle grants him the power to defy conventional gameplay mechanics.
    • He can survive outside the borders of the Game.
    • He can take enemy bases and infiltrate commander stations.
    • He can play two Battlefield games at once.
    • He killed the Megalodon.
    • He can headshot between maps.
    • He can use the Invincibility Star from Super Mario Bros. in Battlefield 4.
  • The Unfettered: The Colonel, who tells the rest of the players that to be as good as he is, they need to stop working, or having sex, or going to the bathroom, describing these things as "time not spent playing Battlefield".
    • Carries a Breaching Hammer equipped with 4X ACOG scope and laser sights in Hardline, with more or less the same results as above.

Simon

Voiced by: Bryan "Simon" Mahoney

A fellow noob and friend of Noob's who often joins him on his ill-fated shenanigans.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: While bumbling around with the Noob on deploying ammo at the edge of a map, he manages to kill a squad of Russians with a C4. Said group had earlier piled up a lot of explosives and teabagged behind Simon and the Noob.
  • Captain Oblivious: Is even moreso than the Noob.
  • Car Fu: One of the few ways Simon has been able to kill the enemy in the series, usually when in the middle of exploiting bugs or glitches, such as using explosives to propel a bike far distances into a helicopter.
  • Irony: One of the least skilled character in the series has the Colonel's voice actor.
  • The Millstone: At least every once in a while, the Noob manages to get kills in a match, if the majority of them are via Grenade Spam, use of his "Jeep Stuff" (C4), or the rare, but truly spectacular Achievements in Ignorance. Simon often serves little more than an extra ammo box source for Noob's spamming of explosives, or the required extra warm body for one of Noob's absolutely awful ideas.
    • In Boosting, he fails to even drive the correct vehicle to earn cash in game for unlocks in a BF: Hardline Hotwire match type "Boosting" server. In other words, in a server run by noobs, for noobs, designed specifically so noobs can pad their stats to make them look better, and gain levels and equipment unlocks in a non-competitive fashion, Simon still managed to screw up and earn nothing at all.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The normal result of Simon working together with Noob, a trip to the respawn screen.

The Ammo Guy \ Tryhard

A recurring engineer/mechanic player first seen calmly asking the Noob to give him ammo, before his patience wore thin and turns him into the signature screaming mess for the rest of the series.

  • Butt-Monkey: Is subject to this, mostly due to the Noob. It is most notable in "Vehicle Waste" where he gets into Noob's vehicle twice right as he crashes it, killing both of them, or just Ammo Guy.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Eternally has one throughout the entire series, as a sign of his consistently stressed state.
  • No Indoor Voice: He has only been shown to have a calm normal voice in his first appearance in "Mortars". Ever since, he has since scream and shouted everything.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Tryhard is so disappointed by Battlefield 2042's awful launch that he just opts to calmly leave the game with Recon rather than muster up the energy to get angry at such a bad, slapdash game.

Old Codger

An elderly player who has a bone to pick with every changes made into the Battlefield series.

LevelCap

A Youtuber well known to the Battlefield community for giving useful tips and tricks about the game who make several cameo appearances in the series.

Bunny Sniper

A recurring background character who appears in most, if not all episodes since his debut.

  • Easter Egg: He can be found in all of the episodes since his debut.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: This is required in order to find him, as the animators tend to place him in the most inconspicuous of locations.

    One-Off Characters

PC Elitist

A snobby player who constantly finds way to denigrate other user's experience with the Battlefield series.

Girl Gamer a.k.a Female Medic

Closet Colonel

A meek and shy sounding player whose extreme prowess at the game overshadows his attempts to masquerade as a regular player.

  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Starts in the Battlefield Friends squad in the beginning of the "Closet Colonel" episode, but switches over to the enemy team by the end to gun down the Medic and Recon.
  • Hidden Badass: As he re-rolled from his Level 100 Colonel account to a new Level 3 account, Closet Colonel looks like a new player, but has the skills and experience of a full-fledged Colonel.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: His shy and awkward nature was what propelled him to escape the prestige and attention of having a Level 100 rank and re-roll into a Level 3 account while retaining the skills of a Colonel.
  • Something Only They Would Say: Trying to prove Closet Colonel wasn't a "noob player", Medic and Recon ask him a few questions with answers a Colonel would give, like whether he has a girlfriend, job, sex life, and what the hipfire spread of a M416 is. The final nail to the revelation was when Closet Colonel's mic picks up the fact he's got a "shit bucket" just like Colonel.

Administrator

A self-centered, entitled player who frequently abuses the powers given to him as a server owner.

General Zhao

A Chinese support player first seen in Commander and sometimes seen leading CN squads in the background.

  • Just a Stupid Accent: Has a overly-stereotypical Chinese accent.
  • The Rival: Aside from the BFF crew, the Colonel seems to remember his name, out of millions if not billions of regular Battlefield players that fell to his knife.

Hardline Syndicate Criminals

Foul-mouthed members of Battlefield Hardline's Syndicate faction, often seen bickering amongst one another.

  • Cluster F-Bomb: Somehow, the term 'motherfucker' will be inserted into their sentence no matter what.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: In "Boosting", the criminal faction containing the criminals and the police faction with the Battlefield Friends set aside fighting to easily earn cash in the boosting server.
  • Just a Stupid Accent: Some find them to be outright patronising.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Every sentence uttered by them WILL include the term, 'motherfucker'.

Patch Guy

A game developer in charge of fixing Battlefield 2042's bugs and glitches.

  • Exhausted Eye Bags: A result of the constant fixing and demands placed on him due to messy Battlefield 2042 launch.
