    Myra Stark

Myra Stark

The firstborn child of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark, and twin sister to Robb Stark.
  • Action Survivor: Despite not being a warrior, or a fighter, Myra survives many perils going through the Crownlands and the Riverlands with Jaime, after fleeing from Dragonstone.
  • Arranged Marriage: Was in one with Domeric Bolton, until a raven came to Winterfell of a message, saying that he had died.
    • Later, when she is in King's Landing, Myra is courted by Renly Baratheon, with the implication that she could be betrothed to him in future. It doesn't work out in the end.
    • As part of the later deal with Lord Walder Frey, Myra Stark is intended to wed one of Lord Walder's sons. But then the Red Wedding happens, and Myra finds that due to her mother having killed Lady Joyeuse Erenford, Walder's eighth wife, Lord Walder intends on taking Myra for his ninth wife. Only he doesn't live that long, due to Myra skinchanging into Aegon 'Jinglebell' Frey, his simple grandson and jester.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Being the eldest child, Myra would always look out for her siblings, who in turn, looked up to her.
  • Broken Pedestal: After the Red Wedding, Myra blamed Jaime for it, especially after hearing Roose Bolton's words to Robb Stark as he stabbed him in the heart, "Jaime Lannister sends his regards". She even believes it so much, that she resorts to calling Jaime "Kingslayer", which hits Jaime hard, because she had never used it before, and had even called out Robert for it. Even after learning that Jaime didn't actually have any part in the Red Wedding, Myra still feels tremendous guilt over having freed Jaime from captivity. However, as she spends time in Dorne, recovering and mourning together with Sansa, and after speaking with Tyrion, Myra does realise that she was wrong to think that, and soon goes to him, where she apologises to him and starts to help him in regards to his lost sword hand.
  • Book Worm: Very fond of this. So much so that she would often find herself having fallen asleep in Winterfell's library. And one reason why she and Tyrion get on so well.
  • Canine Companion: Like her brothers and sisters, Myra has a direwolf, whom she names Brenna, after a hound in Winterfell who was said to lurked around the stables to keep an eye on things and caught her fair share of thieves. And akin to the direwolves generally reflecting their owners in terms of behaviour, Brenna is no exception, in that Myra offhandedly notes how entertaining, and yet, unnerving at the same time, that Brenna takes after her. And given that Myra has wolf dreams, as well as being able to share thoughts and sensations of taste and touch, it is apparent that Myra is a warg. Plus, Brenna is no slouch at fighting, for many chapters later, when Myra and Jaime seemingly are about to face certain death from a group of attackers who had been hunting them down, Brenna, accompanied by Lady and Nymeria, come to their rescue, after having been absent for a considerable time. And having grown to be the biggest direwolf out of her siblings, Brenna's loyalty to Myra has not wavered, and would even defend Jaime from Grey Wind, as well as Rickard Karstark and his men.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: Due to being Robb Stark's heir, Myra essentially becomes the Queen of the North after the Red Wedding.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Due to growing up with two boys the same age as her, she is capable of this, and able to match anyone who tries it on her, as Jaime finds out.
  • Foil: To Cersei. Myra is also an elder twin sister, to a younger brother, and has a very close relationship with their twin. But whilst Cersei and Jaime willingly engage in a secret incest relationship, Myra and Robb's relationship never goes that far, with Myra being disgusted at the mere thought.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Often was the Responsible Sibling to Robb's Foolish Sibling.
  • Heroic BSoD: Myra, after witnessing the death of Robb, Catelyn and Talisa at the Red Wedding, is so severely broken by the experience that it takes at least, seven chapters, before she can begin to pick herself back up. And even then, she's still not completely over her twin's death.
  • Identical Twin Mistake: Played with, due to that her twin, Robb, takes the Tully side of the family, and instead, Jon sometimes is mistaken for Myra's twin, due to both of them possessing the Stark look, as well as acting more alike as they grow older.
  • It's All My Fault: Went through this after the Red Wedding, especially due to that she heard Roose Bolton's words to Robb Stark as he stabbed him in the heart, "Jaime Lannister sends his regards". Given that she released Jaime from captivity in order to stop Robb from executing him, and the last time she heard of Jaime, he had been captured by Roose Bolton, the feeling that she was responsible for causing her twin's death, by releasing him and essentially, defying her brother for him, weighs heavily on her for several chapters.
  • Nice to the Waiter: Myra shows kindness and compassion to the smallfolk, with Ned remarking that the smallfolk back home love her due to that she knew each of their names, inquired into their families and struck up genuine conversations with them that made them feel like they matter. One example of her kindness is when she meets a little girl in a war-torn Maidenpool, and she takes interest in the girl's doll, which by the end of it, makes the girl hug Myra (Jaime noticing that the interaction makes Myra happy too).
  • Parental Substitute: After returning to King's Landing from Dorne, Myra becomes this to Tommen, especially since Cersei neglects him in favour of Joffrey. Jaime notes that Myra loves Tommen, "like one of her own", and Myrcella agrees that she had been a better mother to Tommen than Cersei ever has been. Due to her marriage to Jaime (Tommen's biological father), Myra is essentially his stepmother, even though he only knows her as his step-aunt.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: With Robb. While her brother has the Tully look, Myra possesses the Stark look, with grey eyes and dark hair.
  • Precocious Crush: Growing up, Myra apparently had a crush on Jory Cassel, the captain of the guard and one of her father's closest friends, even at one point telling Wylla Manderly during a feast that she'd marry him one day, only for Wylla to laugh and tell her that what she spoke of, was a pipe dream. Myra even had, during her and Robb's nameday, drank so much that she had attempted to kiss Jory as he attempted to help her up the stairs.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Has the Stark look, of black hair and grey eyes, and pale skin, which Myra notices that she is much paler compared to the other ladies once she comes down south to King's Landing.
  • Sibling Team: Was this with Robb and Jon growing up.
  • Spirited Young Lady: Myra Stark, for one. Even though capable of being a proper lady, Myra is fond of horse-riding, just like her Aunt Lyanna, which whom she resembles, and has learned how to cook small animals on rocks and skin them, as well as start fires and also knows how to take care of injuries.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Myra Stark shares a striking likeness to her Aunt Lyanna and shares couple of her interests like horse-riding. However, Myra is uncomfortable with it and hates how much attention this brings to her, particularly from King Robert, whom was in love with her aunt, even seventeen years after her death.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: While Myra is not as blind as Sansa to the world around her, she still looks for the good in the most unlikely of people. Ned is worried by this, feeling that this could mean someone could take advantage of that, and that for all her strength, she might crumble apart. Her mother also worries that Myra, not only would give a man a chance until it was too late, but would watch out for "everyone else in this world before she takes a moment to look after herself". And indeed, when she travels down to King's Landing with her family, Myra finds herself quite out of depth with how things work down in the South.
  • You Remind Me of X: Not only does Myra remind people of Lyanna Stark, but Ned does notice a smile from her that reminds him of Catelyn. And Catelyn even notes, while Myra speaks with Walder Frey, at how much Myra reminds her of Ned.

    Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister

The son of Lord Tywin Lannister and Lady Joanna Lannister, and twin brother to Queen Cersei Lannister.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Still loses his right hand as in canon, only this time due to a infection sustained by having a knife stuck through his hand, whilst in a battle with Rickard Karstark.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: After having learned from Jaime that Cersei had given orders for the men at the inn to kill her, Myra delivers one to Jaime about him and Cersei, "How can you love someone like that?", which makes Jaime feel something that he has never felt before, shame. And this question haunts Jaime when he returns to King's Landing, only for Cersei to spitefully dismiss him after angrily confronting him over his actions in regards to saving Myra from the men she sent to kill her.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: While in a conversation with Jaime in Chapter Twenty-Seven "The She-Wolf", Myra asks him why did he join the Kingsguard. Unlike the first time she asked him that question note , Myra does not let the conversation drop, and instead poses the question of "your sister is the queen. She has King's Landing, and children and power. What did she leave you with, Jaime?". Later, after having narrowly survived being shot by several arrows, thanks to Myra, he, in a feverish state, responds with "She left me with nothing". This question still sticks with Jaime for several chapters afterwards, when he looks back on his and Cersei's relationship after coming back to King's Landing.
  • Blood Knight: Myra notices that, while observing Jaime fighting against three of Stannis Baratheon's soldiers, that Jaime seems to fight better, as if the opportunity to kill people is what drives him.
  • Broken Pedestal: Starts to view Cersei as this, after his return to King's Landing.
  • Despair Event Horizon: After finding that he has lost his right hand, Jaime screams at the sight of it. From then on, Jaime goes on a downward spiral, and just basically becomes miserable. During an attempt to use his left hand to hold and use a sword, Jaime is dismayed at how slow, clumsy and out of breath he gets in the attempt. Thus, he also becomes self-conscious about his lost right hand, often hiding the stump or not letting anyone touch it. Later, when Myra goes to him, he's clearly suffering from the loss of his hand, with multiple crunched up attempts at letters on the floor of his room showing that he's having trouble writing with his left hand. Then, she starts to help bring him out of his despair, when she holds his stump and kisses it, to which, Jaime is left sobbing in her arms.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite his facade as an arrogant, callous knight of the Kingsguard, which is clearly a shield to hide his feelings towards people thinking of him as the Kingslayer, Myra eventually sees through it, and starts to view him as this.
  • Guilt by Coincidence: Seen as this by Myra, after the Red Wedding, due to Roose Bolton's words of "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" as he stabs Robb Stark in the heart, given that he had been captured by Roose Bolton and had lost his sword hand. She later realises that Jaime is not at fault, and does apologise to him.
  • Love Martyr: Has sacrificed more for Cersei, than she ever has for him. Myra makes him realise how wrong it is.
  • Morality Pet: Even though Jaime, at first, does not think too much about Myra, there are some moments in which he opens up to her and shows a different side to him, because she doesn't judge him like everyone else does. Slowly, but surely, Myra eventually grows to become someone he deeply cares about. To the point that, in the aftermath of the Red Wedding, when Joffrey declares that Robb Stark is dead and he rants on about how he'll want Robb and Catelyn's heads brought to him for display at his wedding, Jaime suddenly interrupts him, his only concern is Myra, and when Joffrey contemplates on serving her head on a spike, Jaime goes so far as to threaten him. Despite the fact that he's the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, no less.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: While holding Myra Stark in his arms after telling her of Theon's betrayal and how he killed her brothers, Jaime then makes a vow to bring her back to her brother, and if he can't, he'll bring her to Casterly Rock, so that she'll never see King's Landing again, to which he views as not just one of the greatest things he has done, but his redemption.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Whilst in a relationship with his twin sister, Jaime has steadfastly been faithful to her, and believes Cersei is the same to him. Subverted when he comes across Myra and begins to fall in love with her.

Supporting Characters - House Stark

    Robb Stark

Robb Stark

The firstborn son and heir of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark, and Myra's twin brother.
  • Face Death with Dignity: During the Red Wedding, Robb, who is wounded from a number of crossbow bolts in him, stands up, and looks at Myra, telling her it's alright.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: With Myra. While his sister has the Stark look, he possesses the Tully look, with red hair and blue eyes.

    Sansa Stark

Sansa Stark

The second daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark.
  • Dye or Die: While living on the streets of King's Landing, Sansa has her red hair dyed black by Syrena in order to not be noticed. However, it doesn't foil Sandor Clegane when he notices her. Later, when she drops her handmaiden disguise in Dorne, she has the dye washed from her hair, allowing the red to show again.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After her father's execution, Sansa had one hell of a wake-up call and started taking lessons from Syrena on how to survive, one of them being bartering, whilst living amongst the streets of King's Landing. She even throws a clay pot at the Hound's head when he grabs Syrena at the throat, thus saving her when she gets in a spot of bother. And if that's not badass enough, when she manages to get to Dorne, whilst undercover as Princess Myrcella's handmaiden, she actually takes lessons from Prince Oberyn, who mentors her on how to get her revenge. Not to fight with weapons like the Sand Snakes, but with poison. Plus, she is able to outwit Littlefinger, when he attempts to make her leave Dorne with him.

    Arya Stark

Arya Stark

The third daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark.
  • Animal Eye Spy: Like in canon, Arya is looking through the eyes of Nymeria, her direwolf.
  • Canine Companion: Her direwolf, Nymeria. Instead of being left out in the wilderness on her own in canon, she accompanies Brenna and Lady (the latter surviving due to Myra's intervention), and disappears from much of the story, until coming to Myra and Jaime's rescue from bandits. From then on, Nymeria accompanies Myra, until Harrenhal, when she picks up on signs that Arya had been there, to which Myra, realising this, sends Nymeria to find Arya. In Chapter Thirty-Eight "The Realisation, Nymeria manages to reunite with Arya, and from then on, accompanies her, helping her and Gendry when they have to escape from Riverrun and go on the run again after the Red Wedding.

    Jon Snow

Jon Snow

The bastard son of Lord Eddard Stark, and half-brother to Myra and Robb Stark.
  • Identical Twin Mistake: Due to both of them possessing the Stark look as well as acting more alike as they grew older, people often mistake Jon for being Myra's twin instead of Robb.

    Eddard Stark

Eddard "Ned" Stark

The Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, and Myra Stark's father.

    Catelyn Stark

Catelyn "Cat" Stark / Lady Stoneheart

The Lady of Winterfell, Ned's wife and mother to Myra, Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran and Rickon Stark.
  • Back from the Dead: After her death in the Red Wedding, in which Black Walder Rivers slit her throat, and having been thrown naked into the Green Fork, Jory Cassel discovers Grey Wind dragging her body out of the river. When the Brotherhood of Banners, led by Beric Dondarrion, arrives, Jory begs for Thoros of Myr to have the Red God bring Catelyn back, having had witnessed Thoros resurrect Beric after a trial by combat with the Hound. After Thoros refuses to do, Beric kisses Catelyn on the forehead, thus, reviving her.

    Jory Cassel

Jory Cassel

The Captain of the Guard for House Stark.
  • Ascended Extra: In comparison to his canon character, one of the most prominent of the Stark household in King's Landing in both the books and the show, who is killed in King's Landing after being ambushed by Jaime Lannister and Lannister soldiers in response to Tyrion's abduction, Jory Cassel gets more expansion, and due to surviving his canonical fate by traveling with Myra to Dragonstone, becomes a POV character.
  • Eye Scream: Lost his left eye after having been captured by the Lannisters and tortured in Harrenhal.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Due to accompanying Myra to Dragonstone, he survives getting killed by Jaime Lannister in King's Landing.

Supporting Characters - House Lannister

    Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion Lannister

The third child of Lord Tywin Lannister and Lady Joanna Lannister, and the younger dwarf brother to Cersei and Jaime.
  • The Alcoholic: Just like in canon, Tyrion Lannister is well known for his drinking.
  • Big Brother Worship: Loves Jaime for treating him like a brother. However, his relationship is shattered upon Jaime revealing to Tyrion, the truth about Tysha, after Tyrion is declared innocent for Joffrey's murder.
  • Despair Event Horizon: After Tyrion is declared innocent of Joffrey's murder, after Prince Oberyn defeats the Mountain in a trial by combat, Jaime reveals to Tyrion the truth about Tysha and his role in it. Afterwards, Tyrion is basically an emotional wreck, even going so far to say that he wants to hate Myra and that Jaime is not his brother.
  • Shipper on Deck: Is this for Myra and Jaime, even so much so that he brings up the idea to Jaime for him and Myra to wed, in order to protect her when they return to King's Landing from Dorne.

    Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister

The daughter of Lord Tywin Lannister and Lady Joanna Lannister, twin sister to Ser Jaime Lannister, wife and Queen to King Robert I Baratheon, and mother to Prince Joffrey, Princess Myrcella and Prince Tommen Baratheon.
  • The Alcoholic: Just like in canon, Cersei is fond of drinking wine.
  • Arch-Enemy: Starts to see Myra Stark as this due to her strong resemblance to Lyanna Stark. She's not particularly fond of the attention that her husband gives Myra, not because she's possessive of him, for she knows that Robert cheats on her, but more of a case that every time she sees Myra, she is reminded of the time when she thought herself to be in love with Robert, only for when he took her on their wedding night, he whispered Lyanna's name, and thinks that Myra "has Robert wrapped around her finger", and even does not like the close relationship between Myra and Jaime, especially after he saves Myra from Robert's advances (being utterly convinced that Myra now has Jaime playing "her would-be hero"). Later, when she learns that Myra and Jaime have escaped Dragonstone together, Cersei goes so far as to order a group of soldiers sent to retrieve Jaime, to kill Myra. When Jaime kills the soldiers, Cersei does not take it well after she learns of it, and starts seeing Myra as even more of a threat.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: When she learns that Jaime killed the soldiers she sent to kill Myra, she really has trouble comprehending why Jaime would find, letting Myra die, difficult.
Cersei: Difficult? Jaime had stabbed the king he'd sworn to protect in the back. He pushed the little Stark boy from a window in his own home. Letting a girl die in the middle of nowhere while their families were at war was nothing. It should have been nothing. He should have been back.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: When Myra and Jaime return from Dorne to King's Landing after having been wed, Cersei is first seen to be glaring at Myra with a fierce look, in addition to that her hands shake as they grip her chair. Then, later, at a family dinner in Maegor's Holdfast, Myra notes that Cersei's glare flares up when Jaime leans in, with Myra thinking that Cersei would have probably combusted if Jaime had touched her.

    Tywin Lannister

Tywin Lannister

The Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West, and father of Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion Lannister.

    Joffrey Baratheon

Joffrey Baratheon

The firstborn son and heir of Queen Cersei Lannister and King Robert I Baratheon, but was really fathered by his uncle, Ser Jaime Lannister.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Joffrey is still poisoned at his wedding to Margaery Tyrell, only this time the poison, the Long Farewell instead of the Strangler, killed him at the altar in the Great Sept of Baelor rather than at the feast afterwards.

    Myrcella Baratheon

Myrcella Baratheon

The only daughter of Queen Cersei Lannister and King Robert I Baratheon (officially, for her biological father is her uncle, Ser Jaime Lannister).
  • Arranged Marriage: Is sent to Dorne after being betrothed to Prince Trystane Martell by her uncle Tyrion.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: After Tyrion is arrested for Joffrey's murder, Myrcella goes straight to her mother and confronts her over it, as well as making it clear that Cersei is a terrible mother to both her and Tommen, and never cared about Tommen until he became king, to which after Myrcella states that Myra "has been a much better mother" to Tommen than Cersei ever has been, Cersei goes so far as to slap her. Despite this, Myrcella still holds her head up high.
  • Smart People Play Chess: When in Dorne, she grows fond of cyvasse note  and has gotten good at it.

    Tommen Baratheon

Tommen Baratheon

The youngest son of Queen Cersei Lannister and King Robert I Baratheon, his real father is his uncle, Ser Jaime Lannister.

Supporting Characters - Other

    Gendry

Gendry

One of King Robert's bastards, who works in a forge in King's Landing, until he ends up going to the Wall, in the same caravan of Night's Watch recruits that Arya Stark is travelling with.
  • Secret Legacy: After escaping Harrenhal with Arya, Hot Pie and Jory Cassel, Gendry learns from the latter that he is not just any other bastard, but the bastard son of King Robert I Baratheon, much to his shock, for up to this point, Gendry had no idea of who exactly his father was.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Shares the black hair and blue eyes of his father.
  • Unknown Relative: While on their way to the Eyrie, Arya, Sandor and Gendry are guided up on the path, by Mya Stone, a strong, tall girl with dark blue hair and blue eyes. Thanks to Gendry knowing about his parentage, seeing the physical similarities between him and Mya, and having overheard servants in the Gates of the Moon talking about another of King Robert's bastards, he has a strong feeling that Mya is most likely his half-sister.

    Olyvar Frey

Olyvar Frey

A member of House Frey, who serves as Robb Stark's squire.
  • The Squire: As in the books, he serves as Robb's squire.
  • Undying Loyalty: As in canon, after learning that his father's forces are leaving Robb due to Robb breaking the marriage pact between him and his Lord father, Olyvar still wants to stay at Robb's side. After the Red Wedding, in which it is revealed that he and his brother, were sent away 'on patrol' from his sister's wedding, due to being too close to the Starks, the devastated-Olyvar still goes to Myra to swear his sword to her, which she accepts.

    Brienne of Tarth

Brienne of Tarth

A warrior woman from the Stormlands, or more specifically, House Tarth from Evenfall Hall, who initially joins Renly Baratheon's army, only to swear her service to Lady Catelyn Stark after Renly's death.

    Oberyn Martell

Oberyn Nymeros Martell

Known as the "Red Viper", the younger brother to Prince Doran Martell, and father to Syrena Sand.
  • Ascended Extra: While only appearing in A Storm of Swords and in Season 4 of Game of Thrones, Prince Oberyn becomes a POV character.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Even though he is the younger brother to Elia, he actually beat an old maester "bloody" after he had noted her frailness, and how poor of a wife she'd make, due to "not being fit for childbirth". Oberyn had been twelve. And he still seeks vengeance on the Lannisters for her death even years later. This leads to him volunteering to be Tyrion's champion in his trial by combat against the Mountain.
  • Mentor Archetype: Even though he makes it absolutely clear to Sansa that she is not a welcomed guest in Dorne, and says that "should the need arise, I will personally throw you from our borders", he is open to teaching Sansa on how to get her revenge on the Lannisters.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: When he is in King's Landing, he clearly thinks on multiple occasions, how much the lords at court are a bunch of fools. Then, when he is one of the judges for Tyrion's trial, he thinks of this again when he can clearly see how "fair" the trial is and how ridiculous the testimonies against Tyrion are.

    Syrena Sand

Syrena Sand

A young Dornish handmaiden in the service of Queen Cersei, who is assigned by the Queen to be Myra's handmaiden, and is more than who she appears to be.note
  • Action Girl: When the Lannisters start to kill the Stark household, Syrena saves Sansa from a Gold Cloak who killed Septa Mordane. Turns out that she is one of Prince Oberyn Martell's Sand Snakes, so this is no surprise.
  • Devious Daggers: Syrena seems to use knives as her weapon. She kills a Gold Cloak with one and was even able to force the Hound to go on the defensive with them. And murdered Robert Baratheon with one after poisoning him.
  • Missing Mom: When Myra meets her, all is said about Syrena's origin is that she grew up in a family of sailors in the Narrow Sea, but when she speaks to Tyrion, it is revealed that she was the daughter of a fishmonger, who disavowed her and told her to not come back when she expressed her wish to meet her father. Then after her father took her in and trained her, Syrena apparently came back to her village. Only to burn the fishmonger's hut. With her mother inside.
  • The Mole: Myra, over time, suspects that Syrena spies on her for Cersei. Which, after an attempt of denial (to which Myra assures her that she holds no quarrel with her personally), Syrena essentially confirms it without saying it outright. And even then, while observing her, Sansa reckons that Syrena is actually a mole spying on the Queen, working for someone else. This is true, for Syrena is a Sand Snake and her loyalties lie with Dorne.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: Played with, in that she isn't really a royal, but actually, is the bastard daughter of Prince Oberyn Martell, and one of his Sand Snakes. But given that Dorne is famous for treating it's bastards better than the other Seven Kingdoms, she's essentially the daughter of a Prince, as are the other Sand Snakes.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: While meeting with her father, and Nymeria in one of the secret tunnels in the Red Keep, Oberyn chastises her for informing Littlefinger about Sansa being in Dorne, risking war being brought to Dorne when the Lannisters were allied with the Tyrells.
