Wanda finally earns the mantle of Scarlet Witch in WandaVision, and there are more than enough incredible moments throughout the episodes to show why.
Moment subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

Episodes

    open/close all folders

Episode 1: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience

Episode 2: Don't Touch That Dial
  • Wanda manages to salvage the magic act in spite of her husband's shenanigans by tricking everyone into thinking that their powers are All Part of the Show.

     Episode 3: Now In Color
  • Despite ostensibly having little to no medical experience, Monica manages to deliver the first of Wanda's babies on her own while Vision is off getting the doctor.
  • Whatever the hell is going on, Wanda is still an Avenger. When something about Monica upsets her, she casually ejects Geraldine from her reality. That's the sort of shit you should expect from someone on a team that deals with cosmic threats.
  • Whether Vision is alive or dead, he's still able to perceive that something is not right with his reality just by being given subtle hints from the neighbors.

Episode 4: We Interrupt This Program
  • Darcy Lewis has certainly taken a few Levels In Badass since the Thor films. Not only did she switch majors over to astrophysics and get her doctorate in it, but she's clearly very comfortable dealing with the S.H.I.E.L.D. type authority figures that permeate her new universe and is excellent at slicing her way through their bullshit with ease. She quickly understands that no one knows what the hell is going on, based on the fact that she and her new colleagues are from completely disconnected fields, and her conversation with an official on the ground.
Darcy: Those drones you're sending in, what kind of data are you getting?
Monti: I'm afraid that's highly classified.
    Darcy: You can't see anything?
    • Darcy completely shuts down one of her new colleagues. Twice. The first person she speaks to refuses to answer her question about his field, saying they're not supposed to talk to each other, and she rejects him as a "Boy Scout". The others pipe up with their wildly diverse fields, whence Darcy immediately concludes no one in authority knows what they're dealing with (so they just threw some wildly diverse people at it). Then the Boy Scout tries to share his field and she slaps him back with "no one cares". Damn. She didn't need a tazer to knock Thor on his ass back in New Mexico.
    • One official calls her "Miss Lewis". She fires back that she is "Doctor Lewis", and has them fetch her a vintage TV set.
    • Darcy also clearly learned a lot from Jane. She knows who's been investigating this and she knows what they would have already done. So she goes in a sci-fi direction, does something "stupid" and different, and gives them their first real information within a few minutes of arriving.
  • Jimmy Woo casually shows off the close-up magic card trick while introducing himself to Monica early on. Well, he had five years to learn it.
    • Randall Park learned from an actual magician to perfect the trick. In one short moment it's quickly established how much more competent Woo's become since his last appearance.
  • As an unseen Moment of Awesome, we find out that Maria Rambeau, since we last saw her in the Nineties, helped found S.W.O.R.D., built it "from the ground up" to handle threats from space and was its director, and that her young daughter Monica grew up to be one of its best agents.
  • One for the creators. The whiteboards showing what the Audience Surrogate is noticing, and it heavily matches the fandom. Note that these episodes were done a while ago, adding in editing, music, and special effects. The team behind the episodes knew exactly what their fandom was going to do.

Episode 5: On a Very Special Episode...
  • When S.W.O.R.D. pushes their luck too far and tries to kill Wanda and her kids with a drone strike, she leaves Westview for the first time since the beginning of the show to confront them directly.
    • As Wanda crosses the line denoting "The Hex", she shifts from her cutesy 80s outfit to her modern day Avengers uniform. Her accent shifts from American mom to full blown Sokovian. She then tosses the drone, which she's fried, at Hayward's feet.
Wanda Maximoff: Is this yours?! [tosses the drone at Hayward's feet]
Tyler Hayward: The missile was just a precaution. You can hardly blame us, Wanda.
Wanda Maximoff: Oh, I think I can. This will be your only warning. Stay out of my home. You don't bother me. I won't bother you.
Tyler Hayward: I wish it could be that simple. You've taken an entire town hostage.
Wanda Maximoff: Well, I'm not the one with the guns, Director!
Monica Rambeau: But you are the one in control.
Wanda Maximoff: [conjures a ball of energy in her right hand] You're still here.
Monica Rambeau: Wanda, I didn't know the drones were armed. But you know that, don't you? A town full of civilians. And you—a telepath—brought a S.W.O.R.D. agent into your home. You trusted me to help deliver your babies. On some level, Wanda, you know I am an ally. I wanna help you.
Wanda Maximoff: How? What could you possibly have to offer me?
Monica Rambeau: What do you want?
Wanda Maximoff: I have what I want, and no one will ever take it from me again.
    • Wanda then telepathically controls every agent with their weapons trained on her to aim at Hayward instead, giving her ample opportunity to walk back into Westview without concern. And this was only a warning to make them back off. Don't piss off a grieving Avenger.
  • Though hinted at throughout the MCU, particularly in Endgame, this episode confirms that Wanda's powers are on par with Captain Marvel's and that her abilities may not simply be restricted to simple telepathy and telekinesis. Considering they both owe their powers to the Mind and Space Stones respectively, this really paints a picture of just how powerful Wanda could truly be. Monica even highlights that had Thanos not rained fire on the battlefield, Wanda might have done him in then and there.
  • After Vision can't ignore the increasing signs of what's really going on, he confronts Wanda directly and absolutely refuses to relent to any of her Gaslighting attempts, even powering through her attempt to end the episode and continuing to demand the truth even as the credits roll.
  • Monica, Woo, and Darcy working together to figure out the nature of Wanda's reality shifts, and how to send something into the Hex without it being changed.
  • But it's the final scene before the credits that really brings things home. In the middle of Vision & Wanda's argument, we get a knock at the door, followed by a very familiar head of silver. As the viewers realize that apparently Wanda (or someone/thing) brought her brother Pietro back from the dead, we then cut to the man's face... and it's not Aaron Taylor-Johnson. In a moment fans have been wanting since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, we see Quicksilver... as in the Fox-owned X-Men version of Quicksilver, the first time a former Fox!Marvel character appeared in the MCU.

     Episode 6: All-New Halloween Spooktacular!
  • Monica, Jimmy, and Darcy are escorted off the base by Hayward's men. However, Monica and Jimmy effortlessly subdue them. Jimmy is the one to throw the first punch.
  • Darcy makes it clear that Monica's passage through the Hex boundaries is having a physical effect on her, but Monica is undeterred. She will find a way to help Wanda, because she understands the grief she's going through.
  • Monica, Darcy, and Jimmy chewing Hayward out for his very ill-advised murder attempt on Wanda. Monica especially points out how Wanda might be the one responsible for the Hex, but they still have no idea what will happen to all the innocent civilians if Wanda were hurt or killed.
  • When Director Hayward attempts to use the past five years after the Blip to justify his current behavior and extreme methods, Monica bluntly tells him not to use the Blip as an excuse for his cowardice.
Hayward: You know, you people who left, still have the luxury of optimism. You have no idea what it was like. What it took to keep the lights on.
Monica: Don’t use the last five years as an excuse to be a coward.
  • Vision escapes the Westview Hex, but it tries to pull him back in. Pieces of his body start to fly off. What does he do? Beg the watching S.W.O.R.D. agents to save the captive townspeople. He may not know what an Avenger is, but he still has the heart of one.
  • To save Vision, Wanda effortlessly expands the Westview Hex far beyond its original boundaries. She may not know how she's doing it, or clearly remember the outburst of grief she initially created the Hex under, but she has control over it.
  • When Pietro goes too far and makes an insensitive joke about Vision being dead, Wanda doesn’t hesitate to blast him with her powers, knocking him on his ass into a bale of hay.
  • Tommy and Billy starting to get their powers; Billy in particular is able to stop a speeding Tommy in his tracks mid-vision with his magic.

Episode 7: Breaking the Fourth Wall
  • Vision freeing Darcy from the mind control. She's the one who finally gives him some answers.
  • Monica breaking through the barrier entirely by herself, through sheer Heroic Willpower, and she gains superpowers in the process. The moment she focuses and pushes through the barrier is highlighted by Carol's comment from her solo movie about how Maria got the "toughest" kid. Then she confronts Wanda, withstanding an attempt to slam her to the ground, and tries to reason with her. And she might've succeeded too, had Agnes not gotten in the way.
    • Monica both empathizes with Wanda, telling her how much she's grieving for her mother, and doesn't let her off the hook for turning her into a Jive Turkey sitcom character.
  • Vision realizing that the "interview" is an attempt to keep him contained, throwing off the mics, phasing through the roof of the truck, and flying off to find his wife.
  • The Reveal of Agnes actually being Agatha Harkness. Of course, everyone who was semi-familiar with the comics suspected she was Agatha (or at least that something was off), but what elevates the reveal to something real special is Agatha getting her own intro song in the form of "Agatha All Along" (which takes inspiration from The Munsters), showing a montage of scenes showing how Agatha came into the plot and began making mischief all over the place, though it's also Evil Gloating in song form, with Agatha basically declaring to the audience "I've already won".
    • And Kathryn Hahn is the female vocalist, just to gloat even more.
    • To add a bit of extra-evil ham, the song ends with Agatha gleefully declaring: "And I killed Sparky too!"
      • Speaking of Agatha's glee, she's just having the time of her life in this! Props to Kathryn Hahn for putting so much emotion into the role. So much emotion, that we all realized that we're gonna have fun watching her do more mischief!
    • This is the second time Kathryn Hahn has successfully pulled off a memorable surprise Marvel villain reveal, after the delightfully unexpected fan-favorite reveal of Dr. Olivia Octavius/Dr. Octopus in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This time the reveal was practically telegraphed from the start, only for viewers to get their socks blown off by the way it was done.

     Episode 8: Previously On
  • The opening scene has Agatha, bound with magic, versus her entire coven for violating their rules and practicing Dark Magic. She wins by seemingly draining their magic until she can break free before taking on her mother, who's older and far more experienced.
    • Cut to the present day where Agatha reveals why she lured Wanda into her basement: she layered it with protection spells so that Wanda was powerless there, even though Wanda is clearly the more powerful of the two.
    • This also speaks to the measures that Agatha took to infiltrate the Hex, believing Wanda to be a major spell-slinging magic user rather than one who's insanely Strong, but Unskilled.
  • The Origins Episode showing Wanda's transformation into the woman she is today and How We Got Here, leading to some mind-blowing revelations:
    • It turns out that Wanda has always had her powers and HYDRA's experiments with the Mind Stone just amplified them. And even when she was a child and they were weaker, the Stark-manufactured missile that they thought was a dud was actually willed into being a dud by Wanda unknowingly casting a probability hex on it.
    • Wanda indeed created the Hex, snapping after receiving one last emotional blow.
      • Keep in mind, Agatha revealed that the Hex is a collection of different complex spells overlaying each other, leading Agatha to believe the Hex to have been the result of some intensely complex ritual, backed with untold magical knowledge, insane magical skill, and impossible magical power. Nope, Wanda did all that through sheer force of will, not even knowing what she was doing, nevermind how. Note that Agatha has to use incantations to cast spells, and Doctor Strange has to move his fingers. Wanda just does.
    • This leads into another revelation: Vision isn't a reanimated corpse like fans have believed, but an entirely separate being created by Wanda - vibranium construction and all - just like Billy and Tommy. This then leads to the biggest reveal of them all...
Agatha Harkness: You have no idea how dangerous you are. You're supposed to be a myth! A being capable of spontaneous creation. Here you are, using it to make breakfast for dinner.
Wanda Maximoff: Let go of my children!
Agatha Harkness: Oh, yes. Your children, and Vision — this whole little life you've made. This is Chaos Magic, Wanda. And that makes you the Scarlet Witch.
    • There's a common colloquial term for "a being capable of spontaneous creation." A god.
    • Before that, in the flashback of the Mind Stone unlocking Wanda's power, she witnesses a vision of herself in full costume as the Scarlet Witch, glimpsing her destiny to ascend from a poor orphan in war-torn Eastern Europe to one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
  • You know Vision's iconic "What is grief if not love persevering?", the series' Signature Line? Paul Bettany came up with it himself. One of the most poignant and deep expositions on grief and healing ever put to screen summarised in a single line, and it came not from a script writer, but from an actor who knew just what to say.

    Episode 9: The Series Finale
  • Wanda and Vision finally reunite and make up, both decided to defeat Agatha and White Vision.
  • Hayward's faction has Jimmy taken, handcuffed and surrounded. So Hayward gloats that he has won and that nobody will believe Jimmy's story of what happened (i.e. what really happened). Jimmy tells him that he has already contacted his friends at Quantico, and they are on their way. Hayward thinks that he's bluffing, but isn't entirely sure, so he has Jimmy thrown away, still in handcuffs but not under guard. Jimmy picks the lock, freeing himself, and uses a phone he stole before the talk with Hayward to call in and get an FBI unit to haul ass to Westview. And bear in mind that Jimmy stole that phone while still in the handcuffs in plain sight, and somehow didn't get caught or draw attention to himself.
    Jimmy: [removing the handcuffs] Flourish.
  • The citizens of Westview finally confront Wanda about how much she's hurting them. Only then does she realize the harm she has caused.
    • Also, despite knowing what Wanda can do to them, the townspeople are unafraid to challenge her, once they are given the chance to speak for themselves.
  • The Maximoff family coming together and teaming up a la The Incredibles, nice Team Shot included. Wanda and Vision even get in a Rousing Speech to Billy and Tommy before they up against the S.W.O.R.D. agents and Hayward:
Vision: Listen, boys. Your mother and I never really prepared you for this.
Wanda: But you were born for it.
  • The twins fight the SWORD agents. Billy freezes them in place with his powers, and Tommy disarms them with his speed. Their mom told them to "handle the military", and they did.
    • However, Hayward arrives and starts shooting. Monica gets there in the nick of time and throws herself between the boys and the bullets. However, the bullets pass right through her like she is jello... because her body is made up of light. The resistance slows the bullets so much that they fall to the ground immediately upon exiting her body.
    • One bullet passes by Monica's head and she turns around in horror... just to see Billy casually stop the bullet in midair and drop it to the ground.
    • What makes this even better is that Billy and Tommy deliver a Curb-Stomp Battle to the military without causing any permanent damage.
  • Darcy rams her van into Hayward's vehicle, pinning him between it and another car.
    Darcy: Have fun in prison!
  • Hex Vision ends his fight with White Vision not through violence, but through logic. He leads White Vision to conclude that they are simultaneously both the original Vision and something new. This prompts Hex Vision to unlock the original memories of White Vision (with his permission) and for White Vision to declare "I am Vision". White Vision then flies off, free of S.W.O.R.D.'s control.
  • Wanda sneaks up on Agatha and gets into her mind like she did to the Avengers. However, Agatha seizes control of the hallucination and turns it against Wanda. The two end up having it out in the sky over Westview, with Agatha goading Wanda into giving up her powers. Wanda seems to comply, firing shots at her, but some of the shots seemingly go wild and crash into the walls of the hex. Wanda is left powerless, and Agatha begins to gloat, only to find that she suddenly can't use her powers. Wanda's "stray" blasts were actually manifesting the runes from Agatha's basement onto the giant walls of the Hex, rendering Agatha powerless!
    • The fact that Wanda is able to recreate the protective runes based on a very brief glimpse of them in Agatha's basement, then acts like a big dummy who continues to attack Agatha and miss while wheeling around Agatha and casting the runes on the Hex walls, says that Wanda clearly has the memory of an elephant and the cunning of a fox.
    • She takes her powers back from Agatha, and casts one last spell: she turns Agatha into Agnes the nosy neighbor for good. She can always come back if she needs Agatha's advice.
    • The reveal of Wanda in her new suit also deserves a mention; the tiara forms on her head as she rejects Agatha's cruel words, then the rest of it slowly forms as she takes her magic back. Finally, she has become the Scarlet Witch in full.
  • Westview Vision faces his imminent death not with sadness or despair, but with love and serenity, confidently reassuring Wanda that he will return to her in some form.
  • In the mid-credits scene, Hayward is taken into custody and Jimmy Woo leads the FBI and S.W.O.R.D. personnel in restoring peace and order to Westview.
Monica Rambeau: Authority looks good on you, Jimmy.
