Should Memes have its own page? The section might not quite big enough yet but it seems it will soon, and it will make it easier to find after being moved from the RWBY meme page.

Given that Mike and Marty have appeared in more than one skit now, should they be removed from One-Scene Wonder? Perhaps make them Ensemble Dark Horse instead?

  • One-Scene Wonder: A single skit about the lives of the Grimm under Cinder's command revolved around two Beowolves moaning over coffee about their boss and job prospects, while an obnoxious Geist boasts to them about his starring role in Cinder's latest scheme. The two Beowolves are called Mike and Marty (voiced by animator William Ball and Red Vs Blue director Joe Nicolosi), and have instantly become huge hits among the fans for their likeability and relatability. The director of that segment would head Season 3, and of course it had another segment with Mike and Marty!

To me, this seems like an overreaction of a show that's designed to trope child cartoons, resulting in Roman being introduced as the Large Ham whose every Evil Plan is destined to fail by stupidity, as regularly lampshaded by Neo.

What An Idiot relies on it being reasonable to expect a character to be able to figure the situation out yet still act idiotically. This entry is resting on Roman having the knowledge that a children's game has suddenly, magically, become real when even the person doing the warning (Ruby) is admitting she doesn't know how it happened, and when the people who do listen to her and don't touch the floor are only humouring her, and don't believe her, hence their shock when Roman 'dies'.

What An Idiot: Being a Denser and Wackier version of RWBY, it should come as no surprise that the characters have their fair share of dumb moments, but then there are some occasions where their idiocy makes no sense:

"The Floor is Lava" (Episode 22): Roman Torchwick prepared a surprise attack on Team RWBY by bursting in on their dorm room. However, Ruby warns him that he can't go inside because the floor is lava and if he enters he would suffer a Cruel and Unusual Death. The thing is, the floor looks completely normal but Ruby isn't lying. It has the same effects as lava.

You'd Expect: Roman would just shoot her or the other girls with his cane while standing outside their dorm room. Even if he didn't believe Ruby's warning and didn't want to play along, Team RWBY was in a bad position (Ruby on top of a chair and the others in their bed bunks) and would have had trouble avoiding his shots (except Blake). He didn't need to enter to take the shot.

Instead: He ignored Ruby's warning and stepped inside the room.

Result: Roman melted off because of the floor and died.

Fortunately: He got better in the very next episode since death does not seem to be permament here, but either way, that was a lack of foresight.

HSQ is for how audiences may react to Serial Escalation. Does the appearance of new characters in the Chibi show count as Serial Escalation?

  • Holy Shit Quotient: As if bringing Penny, Taiyang, and Oobleck into the Chibi cast for Season 2 wasn't surprising enough, wait til you see Episode 3, for it brings in Velvet!
