Five years later, are you guys able to recognize that that picture is just homophobic?
I made this Idolized Julius Kingsley icon back when Akito first came out, and now that the crossover is actually happening, I don't care. The last discussion disappeared. Conspiracy or data vampires, I’m not sure.
Several other tropers found this page to be offensive and belittling to the LGBT community. I can’t help but agree with that. And while offensive humor has its place (and I know few tropers have the social skills necessary to understand this) the Slash Fic page is not the best place for rampant homophobia! Besides, the Supernatural quote is more about Sibling Incest and straight male characters reactions to being shipped together than it is about Slash Fic. In fact both the quote and the image are a better fit for the trope “Oh, Crap, There Are Fanfics of Us!.” So if the mods are so married to the quote and image I suggest you move them to Oh, Crap, There Are Fanfics of Us!.
Hide / Show RepliesYup! Such cowardice. Instead of facing the fact that this article is homophobic and removing the offensive material (ignoring repeated complaints), they just resort to an easy way-out and delete the whole discussion. Smells of "conspiracy" or just plain old fascism...
The quote is also on Oh, Crap, There Are Fanfics of Us! and is a better fit there. I'll take it up in the Quote Discussion page.
The image is fine, in my opinion. People are going to be offended about absolutely anything. Moreover, it's lampshading the idea of a Slash Fic ignoring canon sexuality and pairings for the sake of a slash pairing.
I don't think conspiracy is the right word, so much as mods deleting the rantings of a random person who thinks their opinions are more important than the basic rules of the site.

Yup. I still encourage you to discuss the issues sanely and reach a consensus about what to do. However, this person has blown their chances.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Well I am sure I would call it homophobic. But the fact that there seem to be a lot of what I consider unnecessarily negative. Maybe I am just being an oversensitive loser. But it seem too my like a lot of people are using the example page to complain about ships. They don't like.
For this reason as well the fact that slash in general is becoming as common as Rule 34 , That list could wildly long really quick.
For both reasons for I maybe just not have an examples page at all
Edited by 173.34.243.4Well, yeah, using this page for complaining about ships is not appropriate. Feel free to remove any such content.

Hide / Show RepliesHi there! What do you need help with?
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going."The other reason you should use protection when reading Fan Fic." Isn't this a bit homophobic? Why is slash inherently more "UGH" than heterosexual shipping fic?
Hide / Show RepliesAgree. I sense a lot of homophobia in these articles about slash or yaoi. The example images and quotations, all of them have negative undertones. Why is it that the article about "Girl on Girl is hot" has not such bias, I wonder? Ah, American disgusting double standards...
Edited by 70.33.253.43- Being well known doesn't influence whether something is a good page image.
- I can't tell that that's a fanfic at all. The current one gets the trope across much better.
Every fandom has slash pairings. Do we need to list them all? I'm worried it might get the page deleted under the new policy.
What the hell is the picture, anyway? It links to South Park, but it looks nothing like any of the characters, unless Cartman wears glasses in the future or something.
It's not over. Not yet.well, everyone is okay with the picture and it's just fanart, anyway, (which is supposed to be) and neither of the characters is Cartman. plus, almost the entire South Park Fan Fiction is made only of Ho Yay and Les Yay, so the picture fits perfectly. I don't see why it constantly needs to be changed.
I never said that, I was just wondering what it was. Never mind.
It's not over. Not yet.Image properties says Craig/Tweek; can we change the caption to at least give some idea?
This entire description is woefully outdated, at the very least.
